Once again, you prove yourself to be wise beyond your years, and we thank you for that! I struggle with this a lot in my boys life, but I catch myself as often as I can, it's instinctive to want to protect. But when you let them spread their wings, they will amaze you how far they fly and how resilient they can be!
As far as not saying "no" it's hard for me as it is our families last name ;-) Some day when your daughter comes to you and tells you she wants to start dating a dope smoking Rock Star and go on tour with him, I suspect you will learn the word "no" to ;-)

Thanks for sharing

Love this post! I am also no where near the perfect parent (I was a much better parent before I had kids, lol) BUT dreaming big is what this family is built on!! Hearing those parents you wrote about, would have devasted me. Thank you for writing such an inspiring, thoughtful post!

There is something so refreshing about reading a post written by a man on parenting. Fantastic as usual. We've known for over a year that our son should not go up to the next level of football. Until he wakes up aggressive, he will just get harmed, or not played at all. We held our tongues, biding our time and he has come to the conclusion on his own. Hard to tell him no, while encouraging his little sister to follow HER dream of playing football. ACK. We won't always get it right, but we pay into that "shrink" fund and hope for the best longterm results;)

True, it is still unique, but less so. If it continues, it will eventually look like every other quasi-wagon-crossbreed-is-it-a-car-or-is-it-not that seems to be driving around. It will eventually be as easy to find in the parking lot as a black four door sedan :)

Interesting perspective. I have to say I disagree, and strongly. I actually think the new design is a bigger nod to this car's history than the previous generation was, and that of all the cars out there, this would be the last one that I'd say is blending in with the others. I firmly believe this car can claim title to the most recognizable shape in the automobile world and the new styling does nothing to change that.

Disclaimer: I am not a "car guy"

I am disappointed they have decided to give a more modern appearance on the outside. Cars these days seem to be blending all into one look or another and now the beetle is headed in that direction too.

We drove one of these before we bought our Honda Ridgeline. No comparison. The Ridgeline is miles ahead in terms of ride and handling and will still pull 5000 pounds.

I'd like to see you review a Ridgeline, once you get past the unique styling it's a pretty great truck.
