Op 3, 4 en 5 juli vindt op de Bosbaan de 6e editie van de Dutch International Youth Regatta (DIYR) plaats. Drie dagen lang strijden honderden jonge roeiers uit binnen- en buitenland op verschillende afstanden om de winst. Voor een geslaagd evenement zoeken we nog enthousiaste vrijwilligers.

Er zijn taken voor iedereen, in de voorbereiding, tijdens het weekend zelf en na afloop van de races. Denk aan het secretariaat, de catering, het vasthouden van boten aan de start en de tijdwaarneming. Je hoeft niet te kunnen roeien: vertel ons wat je graag doet en waar je goed in bent, dan zoeken we een passende rol.

Ouders, grootouders, broers, zussen en vrienden uit het hele land zijn van harte welkom. Wil je meehelpen om de DIYR tot een succes te maken? Meld je dan aan via diyr.nl/vrijwilligers.

Op Zondag 7 juni aanstaande vindt de triatlon TRI AMSTERDAM plaats. Deelnemers gaan zwemmen, fietsen en lopen, allemaal rond Willem III. Hierdoor is de Jan Vroegopsingel afgesloten voor verkeer van 7:30-17:00.

TRI AMSTERDAM start 8:00 uur in Park Somerlust bij RIC. Van 8.00 – 10.30 uur zwemmen de deelnemers in de Amstel van RIC een rondje Berlage Brug, roei dan niet richting stad. Het fietsen is van 8.30 – 13.30 uur en gaat over de Jan Vroegopsingel. Het hardlopen is van 10:30-16:30 loopt onder de Utrechtbrug door om er vervolgens overheen te gaan. Zie voor alle details de bewonersinformatie.

De Jan Vroegopsingel zal dan zoveel mogelijk verkeersvrij worden gemaakt. De afsluitingen en omleidingen worden ter plekke met gele borden aangegeven. Hou hier dus rekening mee als je op zondagochtend 7 juni naar Willem III komt! Vermijd de auto en kom met de fiets, OV of lopend.

Sunday, June 7 Road closure due to Triathlon

The TRI AMSTERDAM triathlon will take place this coming Sunday, June 7. Participants will swim, cycle, and run, all around Willem III. As a result, the Jan Vroegopsingel will be closed to traffic from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

TRI AMSTERDAM starts at 8:00 AM in Park Somerlust at RIC. From 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM, participants will swim a lap around the Berlage Bridge in the Amstel at RIC; do not row towards the city during this time. The cycling is from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM and takes place along the Jan Vroegopsingel. The running is from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM and runs under the Utrecht Bridge before crossing it. Please see the residents’ information for all details.

The Jan Vroegopsingel will be made traffic-free as much as possible during this time. Closures and diversions will be indicated on-site with yellow signs. Please take this into account if you are coming to Willem III on Sunday morning, June 7! Avoid the car and come by bike, public transport, or on foot.

Afgelopen weekend werd voor het eerst na de verbouwing van de Bosbaan weer een grote roeiwedstrijd op de Bosbaan gehouden: de ARB Bosbaanwedstrijden.

Willem III was met 41 inschijvingen zeer goed vertegenwoordigd, vooral bij de Jeugd en Junioren maar ook in het Elite Dames veld lieten wij van ons horen.

Met 9 overwiningen hadden we genoeg punten verzameld om de ARBeker in ontvangst te nemen. De ARBeker is een prijs voor de best presterende vereniging van de wedstrijd.

Een super resultaat van onze roeiers en hun coaches. Van harte gefeliciteerd allemaal!

Last weekend, for the first time since the renovation of the Bosbaan, a major rowing competition was held on the Bosbaan: the ARB Bosbaan Races.

Willem III was very well represented with 41 entries, especially in the Youth and Junior categories, but we also made our presence felt in the Elite Women’s field.

With 9 victories, we collected enough points to win the ARBeker. The ARBeker is a prize for the best-performing club of the competition.

A fantastic result for our rowers and their coaches. Congratulations to everyone!

The Vogalonga (meaning “long journey”) is a 30-kilometer rowing event that has been held every year on Pentecost Sunday in Venice since 1974. The route passes through the lagoon and the historic city center across the Grand Canal and began as a protest against the many polluting motorboats that plague the lagoon city on a daily basis. In 2026, the 50th edition, seven teams from Willem 3 participated.

Slag klaarmaken, slag klaar, Spritz!

Team C4* Henley (Barbara, Giulio, Isabelle, Simone, Jun)
We are team Bella, and we took part in the Vogalonga on May 24th with the Henley C4x+. 🚣
🚣 🚣 🚣 🚣

Our boat travelled all the way to Venice and carried us through wavy seas. We are a multi-national team, from Italy, China, Poland, France and the UK, and we had a fantastic time singing songs from each country and telling stories on our boat.

The trip was almost 4 days, and we all arrived on Friday. A lot of us had the same flights, so we were even chatting at the airport before the big day. ✈

On Saturday, we unloaded the boats and brought them to Giardini, the place where we kept the boats overnight before the big event. There were lots of boats there from many different countries, with a lot of French teams. Our team was a little late, because we forgot our oars! However, in the end, we had luck on our side, and a kind man from the Diadora rowing club let us borrow their oars for the day! He even put them on his speedboat and gave us, along with the oars, a ride back to our boat! It was a fun story to tell at the dinner that evening.

The day at the Vogalonga event was fantastic, what an incredible event to be a part of! We started bright and early at 7am, then we heard a big starting canon, and we were off! We saw some of our fellow W3 boats along the way, as well as some fun costumes; I even saw a man in a penguin costume on a SUP! 🐧Some Willem 3’ers may also remember a boat with a dragon head! 🐲

Team C4* Amstel (Bastien, Els, MaryAnn, Stanislav, Vadim)
It was about 30 degrees so it was a very hot day! Team Amstel even created a “Goofy Time” command (like Goofy from Mickey Mouse), where they scooped water into their hats and dropped it on their head! It’s such a good idea to keep cool, and it’s maybe their secret to success, because they finished the day very quickly and arrived back at the boat loading area before 3pm! A fish even jumped out of the water as they headed back to celebrate with them!

Team W2x Ronde Hoep (Futo, Hester, Petra, Vesna)
Team W2x Ronde Hoep was lucky enough to have a very Italian experience in Venice, sharing a cafe corretto with a gondola before the starting cannon went off!
They were worried about getting too close in case of capsizing, but in the end the temptation of beautiful Italian coffee won.

Team C3* Doorzettter (Ilse, Philo, Renate, Titia)
Team De Vogalonga Vier was not worried about capsizing on the other hand, as they shared a unique experience hanging on the side of the Doorzetter to pee while having a casual chat, which is a team bonding experience I’m sure they will never forget! 😂

Team C4* Gein (Ellis, Ilayda, Suzanne (A), Suzanne (W), Vace)
Entering the Canale di Cannaregio was “beautiful chaos”, with everyone stressed and boats pushing together. Team Gein had an epic entrance; at the very moment they were thinking “what am I doing here?”, they heard Edith Piaf’s Non, je ne regrette rien blasting on speakers – it seems the french teams at the Vogalonga had a sense of humour! 😄

Team C4* Jan Pasman (Ellen, Fere, Gerdie, Marjolein, Rob)
We all collected our medals, and everyone received a t-shirt and a certificate of participation, along with a lovely poster! Team Marjolein struck up a conversation with a canoe participant who asked where they were staying, and when they told him about the hotel, his response was “oh yes, rowers”! Sounds like the locals already knew we were coming! 🛶🛶

Team C3* Doorduwer (Eva, Jim, Jonah, Marjon)
Some teams even brought the spirit of family to sea: Jim and Marjon convinced their adult kids to join them on a family adventure in the Doorduwer! If anyone reading this article has kids, this is your sign to encourage them to start rowing!

Approaching the Rialto Bridge towards the finishing line, everyone was full of energy. Onlookers were smiling and clapping, and everyone was relieved after getting through the bottleneck at the Canale di Cannaregio. At the end of the long journey, some of us even had a swim in the sea to cool down, and then we had a spritz and a dinner together, the perfect way to end such an incredible day! 😎

In opdracht van Rijkswaterstaat werkt aannemer VeenIX aan de verbreding en verdiepte aanleg van de A9 tussen de knooppunten Badhoevedorp en Holendrecht (A9BAHO). De werkzaamheden aan de A9BAHO maken deel uit van de weguitbreiding Schiphol-Amsterdam-Almere (SAA). Met deze mail informeren wij u over werkzaamheden in uw directe omgeving.

Van dinsdag 26 mei om 07.00 uur tot en met vrijdag 5 juni 17.00 uur hijsen we de liggers in voor het middelste deel van de nieuwe brug boven de Amstel. Liggers zijn de balken waar straks het brugdek op komt te liggen. We werken direct boven de Amstel tussen woensdag 27 mei en zaterdag 30 mei. Dit heeft gevolgen voor het scheepvaartverkeer.

Verkeershinder

Van dinsdag 26 mei 07.00 uur tot en met woensdag 27 mei 07.00 uur is er een halve vaarwegstremming op de Amstel. De liggers worden boven de Amstel ingehesen tussen woensdag 27 mei 07.00 uur en vrijdag 29 mei 10.00 uur. Op dat moment is de vaarweg volledig gestremd. Op zaterdag 30 mei tussen 07.00 uur en 12.00 uur is er een sprake van een halve vaarwegstemming.

Commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat, contractor VeenIX is working on the widening and deepening of the A9 between the Badhoevedorp and Holendrecht interchanges (A9BAHO). The works on the A9BAHO are part of the Schiphol-Amsterdam-Almere (SAA) road expansion. With this email, we are informing you about works in your immediate vicinity.

From Tuesday, May 26 at 07:00 until Friday, June 5 at 17:00, we will be hoisting the girders into place for the middle section of the new bridge over the Amstel. Girders are the beams on which the bridge deck will eventually rest. We will be working directly over the Amstel between Wednesday, May 27 and Saturday, May 30. This will affect shipping traffic.

Traffic Disruption

From Tuesday, May 26, 07:00 to Wednesday, May 27, 07:00, there will be a partial closure of the waterway on the Amstel. The girders will be hoisted into place over the Amstel between Wednesday, May 27, 07:00 and Friday, May 29, 10:00. At that time, the waterway will be fully closed. On Saturday, May 30, between 07:00 and 12:00, there will be a partial closure of the waterway.

Ten behoeve van de leden van de Amsterdamse roeiverenigingen organiseren De Amstel, Amstelgeuzen, De Hoop, Michiel de Ruyter, Poseidon, RIC en Willem 3 op zaterdag 20 juni 2026 de jaarlijkse Kortste Nacht Tocht.

Programma:
19.30 uur: Verzamelen op het vlot bij Willem 3, briefing.
20.00 uur: Vertrek richting Ouderkerk.
Je roeit een avond- en nachttocht van ±29km rondom de Ronde Hoep-polder. Zie routekaart hieronder.
Halverwege de tocht is er een pauze met picknick op de oever van de Oude Waver (sanitaire stop).
Even na 22.00 uur zie je de zonsondergang vanuit je bootje op de Oude Waver.
Je roeit door het donker over de Amstel langs Nes en Ouderkerk terug naar Amsterdam.
Vanaf ±0.00 uur worden de eerste boten terug verwacht.
Nazit met gezelligheid, soep en broodjes bij Poseidon.
De eindtijd inclusief de nazit zal rond 01.00 à 02.00 uur ’s nachts zijn.

Informatie:

Er zijn lage en/of smalle bruggen te verwachten op deze route. Je moet bekend zijn met de commando’s ‘slippen en doorvallen’ en deze correct uit kunnen voeren..

Een bevoegde en geoefende captain per boot is verplicht!
Er is eventueel een captain vanuit de Toercommissie beschikbaar voor een ploeg die zelf niet stuurbevoegd is.

Are you up for a unique rowing experience?

For the members of Amsterdam’s rowing clubs, De Amstel, Amstelgeuzen, De Hoop, Michiel de Ruyter, Poseidon, RIC, and Willem 3 are organizing the annual Shortest Night Tour on Saturday, June 20th, 2026.

Schedule:
7:30 p.m. Meet at the dock at Willem 3, briefing.
8:00 p.m. Departure toward Ouderkerk.
You’ll row a ± 29-km evening and night tour around the Ronde Hoep polder. See the map above.
Halfway through the tour, there will be a break with a picnic on the banks of the Oude Waver (restroom stop).
Shortly after 10:00 p.m., you’ll watch the sunset from your boat on the Oude Waver.
In the dark, you’ll row across the Amstel past Nes and Ouderkerk back to Amsterdam.
The first boats are expected to return around midnight.
After-party with fun, soup, and sandwiches at Poseidon.
The event will conclude, including the after-party, around 1:00–2:00 a.m.

Registration, no later than June 16th:
Register yourself or your team by June 16th at toercommissie@willem3.nl, mentioning “Kortste Nacht 2026.” Please include the following for yourself and/or your team members:

You must be able to get in and out of the boat independently at difficult banks.
Low and/or narrow bridges are to be expected on this route. You must be familiar with the “slippen and doorvallen” commands and be able to execute them correctly.

A qualified and experienced captain per boat is mandatory!
A captain from the Touring Committee may be available for a team that does not have its own qualified captain.

Beste leden,

We hebben gemerkt dat er in ons fietsenrek een aantal fietsen al geruime tijd geparkeerd staan zonder dat ze lijken te worden gebruikt. Om het fietsenrek netjes en toegankelijk te houden voor iedereen, willen we jullie vragen nogmaals om te controleren of jouw fiets er nog tussen staat.

We hebben afgelopen weekend elke fiets in het fietsenrek gelabeld. Is jou fiets gelabeld omdat je aan het roeien/trainen was? Verwijder dan het label zodat we weten dat ie actief wordt gebruikt.

Staat jouw fiets al langere tijd in het fietsenhok en is ie nu gelabeld?  Neem deze dan alsjeblieft mee naar huis of verwijder hem, zodat er weer ruimte ontstaat voor actieve fietsers.

Na onze eerder berichtgeving in november vorig jaar zullen we nu overgaan tot een opruimactie.

Alle fietsen die na 5 juni nog steeds langdurig in het rek staan en gelabeld zijn zullen worden verwijderd.

Bike Rack Cleanup / Check your bike in the bike rack

Dear members,

We have noticed that a number of bicycles have been parked in our bike rack for quite some time without appearing to be used. To keep the bike rack tidy and accessible for everyone, we would like to ask you once again to check if your bike is still there.

Last weekend, we labeled every bike in the rack. Was your bike labeled because you were rowing or training? If so, please remove the label so we know it is being actively used.

Has your bike been in the bike shed for a long time and is it now labeled? Please take it home or remove it so that space is created again for active cyclists.

Following our earlier announcement in November of last year, we will now proceed with a cleanup operation.

All bicycles that are still standing in the rack for an extended period after June 5th and are labeled will be removed.

Thank you for your cooperation, and let’s work together to ensure a tidy and organized bike parking facility!

Do you want to find out if rowing is for you? During the RoeiMee! weekend on May 23 & 24, rowing clubs throughout the Netherlands are opening their doors to children aged approximately 10 to 16. You can get a no-obligation introduction to the sport of rowing. No experience is required, just the desire to try something new!

Gents geroei

Deze alliteratie vond in het weekeind van 9/10 mei plaats. Met een overvol bepakte en behangen botenwagen zijn alle jeugd en wedstrijd junioren roeiers naar de camping in Gent verhuisd om veel lol te maken. Met alle roeiers samen zijn de bootjes supersnel opgeriggerd, hier en daar zelfs met levende schragen. Na dit zware werk kon er een lekker potje geroeid worden in veel verschillende samenstellingen.
Onze jeugd toppers knalden iedere keer 1000m over de baan, de wedstrijd junioren hebben allemaal net iets meer dan 2000m gevaren. Echt waar en hoe dit zit, tja…. 😊. De heats vlogen ons om de oren die ieder een wedstrijd op zich waren. Per nummer werd de einduitslag bepaald op basis van alle geroeide tijden in de heats. Vermeldenswaard is dat Loïs van Dis beide dagen het meisjes U19 veld wist te winnen in de skiff. Een hele knappe prestatie in dit internationale veld. Een andere topprestatie kwam van de begeleiders van de jeugdroeiers: met vijf ouders negen skiffs op de baan leggen in 15 minuten! En last but not least, onze jongste wedstrijdroeiers Veerle Booij en Lynn Fontein hebben samen geblikt.
Bij alle wedstrijden zijn de Willem 3’ ers hard aangemoedigd door elkaar, rennend langs de baan, vanuit de fijne tent, maar altijd met veel lawaai. Van al dit gedoe krijg je trek, maar Sue had weer voor een heerlijke BBQ gezorgd, echt geweldig.
Na een (hier en daar) korte nacht waren de wedstrijden op zondag pittig mede door de harde tegenwind. Maar niet getreurd, er is weer hard gestreden.
Na deze inspanningen zijn alle bootjes in sneltreinvaart op de botenwagen gepuzzeld en kon Yuri rustig naar Amsterdam rijden.
Het was weer heerlijk dat Gentse geroei.

Gents geroei

This alliteration took place on the weekend of May 9/10. With a fully packed and decorated boat trailer, all the youth and competitive junior rowers moved to the campsite in Ghent to have a lot of fun. The boats were rigged up super fast with all the rowers together, here and there even using human trestles. After this hard work, a great rowing session could be enjoyed in many different combinations.

Our youth stars blasted across the course for 1000m every time, while the competitive juniors all rowed just over 2000m. It’s true, and as for how that works, well… 😊. The heats flew by, each being a race in itself. For each event, the final result was determined based on all the times rowed in the heats. It is worth mentioning that Loïs van Dis managed to win the girls’ U19 field in the single scull on both days. A very impressive performance in this international field. Another top performance came from the youth rowers’ supervisors: getting nine skiffs onto the course in 15 minutes with just five parents! And last but not least, our youngest competitive rowers Veerle Booij and Lynn Fontein won a medal together.
At all the races, the Willem 3 members cheered each other on loudly, running along the course from the nice tent, but always with a lot of noise. All this commotion makes you hungry, but Sue had once again arranged a delicious BBQ—truly amazing.
After a (somewhat) short night, the races on Sunday were tough, partly due to the strong headwind. But don’t worry, they fought hard again.
After these efforts, all the boats were puzzled onto the boat trailer at lightning speed, and Yuri could drive to Amsterdam in peace.
It was wonderful to experience that Ghent rowing again.

Doelgroep: beginnende en recreatieve roeiers vanaf S1/St2 bevoegdheid die het leuk vinden om eens in wedstrijdverband te roeien.

The third Regional Competition of 2026 is being organised by Michiel de Ruyter in Uithoorn and will take place on Saturday June 13th.

Location: Amsteldijk Zuid 253, 1423 BZ Uithoorn.

The race course:
The length of the race course is 500 metres.
Race format: Each team rows the course twice, side-by-side (inner and outer lanes).

Target group: novice and recreational rowers with S1/St2 certification who would like to try their hand at competitive rowing.

What do you need to do?
• Form a team for your preferred boat type (C2x+, C4x+ or 4x+).
• Your team can consist of women, men or a mixed group. (Mixed teams must be at least 50% women).
• It’s all about having fun during training and at the races.
• You’ll be competing against teams from the Amsterdam region and surrounding areas.

Will you be joining in? It could well be your stepping stone to bigger races such as the Novembervieren, the Head of the River and the Heineken Roeivierkamp.

De komende wreek wordt ons balkon voorzien van een nieuwe coating. Hierdoor kan het balkon tijdelijk niet gebruikt worden. Als je buiten wil zitten/eten kun je gebruik maken van de picknick banken op de landtong.

Na het schoonmaken en schuren van het balkon zal waarschijnlijk maandag een nieuwe coating worden aangebracht. We gaan er vanuit dat het balkon op woensdag 13 mei weer gebruikt kan worden.

Route
De Geintocht gaat vanaf Willem 3 via de Amstel, de Weespertrekvaart en de Gaasp naar het Gein. In Abcoude is er een pauze. Daarna roeien we via de Angstel, het Abcoudermeer, de Holendrecht, de Bullewijk en de Amstel weer terug naar Willem 3.

Vereisten
Je moet bekend zijn met de commando’s ‘slippen’ en ‘doorvallen’ en deze goed kunnen uitvoeren.
En je moet in staat zijn om zelfstandig in- en uit de boot te stappen bij lastige oevers.
Een bevoegde en geoefende captain per boot is verplicht!

On Sunday June 7th 2026, the Touring Committee is organising the W3 Spring Tour. We will row approximately 29 km through the countryside south of Amsterdam, past the Gein, Abcoude and Ouderkerk.

This beautiful tour is suitable for all rowers from class 1 onwards who are reasonably fit. Will you be joining us? We’ll meet at 9.00 am. You’ll be out on the water until mid-afternoon.

Registration
Register yourself or your team by June 3rd at the latest via toercommissie@willem3.nl, stating ‘Lentetocht 2026’. Plus:
(a) your name
(b) your mobile number
(c) your rowing class
(d) your preference for a wherry or Cx+ boat, if applicable.
If registering as a team, please provide the names, contact details (email and mobile number) and rowing class for all participants.
You will receive a confirmation email after registering.

Costs
Participation costs €15.00 per person, including a welcome drink at Willem 3 and a drink in Abcoude. For participants from other rowing clubs who wish to use a Willem 3 boat, there is an additional charge of €10.00 per person.

Route
The Gein Tour runs from Willem 3 via the Amstel, the Weespertrekvaart and the Gaasp to the Gein. There will be a break in Abcoude. We will then row via the Angstel, the Abcoudermeer, the Holendrecht, the Bullewijk and the Amstel back to Willem 3.

Requirements
You must be familiar with the commands ‘slippen’ and ‘doorvallen’ and be able to execute them correctly.
You must also be able to get in and out of the boat unaided at difficult banks.

Jeugdkamp Willem 3 Water Weken

De 2e Willem 3 Water Week is verplaatst naar MAANDAG 10 t/m DONDERDAG 13 augustus 2026. Er zijn nog plekken beschikbaar voor deze 2e Willem 3 Water Week. (week 1 is VOL)

De Willem 3 Water Weken zijn voor kinderen tussen de 10 en 15 jaar die graag kennis willen maken met roeien of hun roeikwaliteiten willen verbeteren.

De kinderen gaan 4 dagen lang van 9:30 tot 16:00 uur roeien in skiffs en meerpersoonsboten, buiten het roeien om gaan we natuurlijk ook spelletjes doen en lekker zwemmen!

Ervaren roeiers en coaches zullen de week begeleiden, en zorg dragen dat alle deelnemers veilig op en rond het water zijn. Voor de lunch, een tussendoortje en limonade wordt gezorgd, zonnebrand moet je zelf meenemen!

Roeiervaring is niet nodig maar mag wel! Doordat we gevarieerd met roeien bezig zijn en ook andere activiteiten hebben is de week ook leuk voor iedereen die al kan roeien.

Het minimale aantal deelnemers voor doorgang van de Willem3 Water Week is 10 en bij 20 zitten we weer vol, dus wees er snel bij! De kosten voor de week zijn € 175,- Na het inschrijven via het formulier en bij de minimale behaalde inschrijvingen ontvang je een betaallink. Als de betaling is voldaan, ontvang je een bevestiging. Tot 30 dagen voor de Willem3 Water Week kun je kosteloos annuleren en krijg je het geld weer terug gestort. Daarna is restitutie niet meer mogelijk.

Willem 3 Water Weeks Youth Camp

The 2nd Willem 3 Water Week has been moved to MONDAY 10 to THURSDAY 13 August 2026. There are still spots available for this 2nd Willem 3 Water Week. (Week 1 is FULL)

The Willem 3 Water Weeks are for children aged 10 to 15 who would like to get acquainted with rowing or improve their rowing skills.

The children will row in skiffs and multi-person boats for 4 days from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Besides rowing, we will of course also play games and enjoy a swim!

Experienced rowers and coaches will supervise the week and ensure that all participants are safe on and around the water. Lunch, a snack, and lemonade will be provided; please bring your own sunscreen!

Rowing experience is not required but is welcome! Because we engage in a variety of rowing activities as well as other events, the week is also enjoyable for anyone who already knows how to row.

The minimum number of participants for the Willem3 Water Week to take place is 10, and we will be full again at 20, so be quick! The cost for the week is €175. After registering via the form and once the minimum number of registrations has been reached, you will receive a payment link. Once payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation. You can cancel free of charge up to 30 days before the Willem3 Water Week and receive a refund. After that, refunds are no longer possible.

Ernstige hinder op de Amstel ivm Skøll Cup

Op zaterdag 25 april en zondag 26 april (dat is aankomend weekend al!) wordt er op de Amstel geroeid om de Skøll Cup. Dit is een grote competitie wedstrijd die vergelijkbaar is qua drukte met de Head of the River en Heineken Roeivierkamp. Normaal wordt deze wedstrijd op de Bosbaan gehouden maar wegens de verbouwing voor het WK roeien wordt er dit jaar eenmalig uitgeweken naar de Amstel. De start is bij Het Kalfje en de finish is voor Skøll.

De Skøll Cup wedstrijden zijn van 9.00 uur tot ongeveer 17.30 uur. Dit betekent ernstige hinder tussen de Utrechtsebrug en Het Kalfje, onder andere omdat de races tegen de roeirichting in worden gehouden. Er is geen roeiverbod maar het bestuur ONTRAADT om dit weekend richting Ouderkerk te roeien. Er is één roeistrook beschikbaar die moet worden gedeeld met alle roeiers en pleziervaart. Ga bij jezelf te rade of je werkelijk vaardig en snel genoeg bent om in dergelijke omstandigheden te roeien. We gaan ervan uit dat je zelf kunt inschatten of je genoeg stuur-en roeiervaring hebt om in grote drukte tussen wedstrijdroeiers en plezierboten door te varen.  We adviseren om richting stad tussen de Utrechtse Brug en de Hoop te roeien of de Weespertrekvaart op te gaan. Niet alleen vanwege het lichamelijk letsel dat je op kan lopen, maar ook om onze vloot te beschermen. Mocht je je echt niet kunnen inhouden om richting Ouderkerk te gaan, houd dan rekening met het volgende:

• Er is waarschijnlijk grote drukte met roeiboten en pleziervaarten
• Er kan stremming zijn bij en langs de wedstrijdbaan waardoor je moet wachten.
• Ga je roeien: bestudeer dan de kaart van de wedstrijdbaan vooraf goed. Deze vind je via deze link: Wedstrijdbaan Skøll Cup,
• De wedstrijdbaan ligt tegen de roeirichting in. Je kunt de oproeibaan gebruiken om langs de wedstrijd richting Ouderkerk te roeien. Terug kan op aangeven van de jury in de wedstrijdbaan geroeid worden.
• Juryleden en motorboten zullen langs de wedstrijdbaan aanwezig zijn om alles letterlijk in goede banen te leiden. Volg aanwijzingen van de wedstrijdorganisatie op.

Verkeersstremming en Parkeerverbod:

Dit weekend zal tijdens de Skøll Cup de Jan Vroegopsingel op zaterdag en zondag overdag gestremd zijn voor doorgaand verkeer. Ook zal er dit weekend van vrijdag 8:00 t/m zondag 20:00 een algeheel parkeerverbod van kracht zijn op zowel Willem III als op de Jan Vroegopsingel van de Utrechtsebrug t/m de Volkstuinen. Het parkeerterein bij Willem III is dit weekend afgesloten. Kom zoveel mogelijk op de Fiets of met het OV. Parkeren kun je het beste doen aan de Joan Muyskenweg.

Skøll Cup gebruikt Willem III vlotten

De Skøll Cup zal gebruik maken van de vlotten op Willem. Er zullen vlotcoordinatoren aanwezig zijn om alles in goeie banen te leiden. Houd rekening met drukte op de vlotten en heb geduld en begrip voor elkaar.

Serious disruption on the Amstel due to Skøll Cup

On Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th (which is this coming weekend!), rowing for the Skøll Cup will take place on the Amstel. This is a major competition comparable in terms of crowds to the Head of the River and the Heineken Rowing Quadruple. Normally, this race is held at the Bosbaan, but due to renovations for the World Championships Rowing the event is being moved to the Amstel for this one-off occasion. The start is at Het Kalfje and the finish is in front of Skøll.

The Skøll Cup races will run from 9:00 AM to approximately 5:30 PM. This means serious disruption between the Utrechtsebrug and Het Kalfje, partly because the races are being held against the direction of rowing. There is no rowing ban, but the board ADVISES AGAINST rowing towards Ouderkerk this weekend. There is one rowing lane available that must be shared with all rowers and pleasure craft. Consider whether you are truly skilled and fast enough to row in such conditions. We assume that you can assess for yourself whether you have enough steering and rowing experience to navigate through heavy traffic amidst competitive rowers and pleasure boats. We advise rowing towards the city between the Utrechtse Brug and De Hoop, or entering the Weespertrekvaart. This is not only due to the physical injury you may sustain, but also to protect our fleet.

Should you really be unable to resist heading towards Ouderkerk, please take the following into account:

• There will likely be heavy traffic with rowing boats and pleasure vessels.
• There may be congestion at and along the race course causing you to wait.
• If you are going to row: study the race course map carefully beforehand. You can find it via this link: Skøll Cup Race Course.
• The race course is oriented against the direction of rowing. You can use the warm-up lane to row past the race towards Ouderkerk. On the return journey, you may row in the race course at the signal of the jury.
• Judges and motorboats will be present along the race course to literally keep everything running smoothly. Follow instructions from the race organizers.

Traffic Closure and Parking Ban:

This weekend, during the Skøll Cup, the Jan Vroegopsingel will be closed to through traffic during the day on Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, a general parking ban will be in effect this weekend from Friday 8:00 AM to Sunday 8:00 PM on both Willem III and the Jan Vroegopsingel from the Utrechtsebrug to the Volkstuinen. The parking lot at Willem III will be closed this weekend. Come by bicycle or public transport as much as possible. The best place to park is on the Joan Muyskenweg.

Skøll Cup will use Willem III pontoons

The Skøll Cup will make use of the pontoons at Willem III. Pontoon coordinators will be present to ensure everything runs smoothly. Therefore, please be prepared for crowds on the pontoons and show patience and understanding towards one another.

Het is velen misschien ontgaan, maar afgelopen 2 weekeinden is het 2km seizoen begonnen, maar dan net wat anders dan andere jaren. Niet op de vertrouwde Bosbaan vanwege de WK verbouwingswerkzaamheden maar op de Willem Alexander Baan (WAB) bij Rotterdam. Op zich een prachtige baan maar net wat dicht bij de kust en voor ons verwende Amsterdammers wat ver weg.
Tijdens de Bosbaan Voorjaarsregatta moesten de junioren zich kwalificeren voor het NK van het weekeind erna. Hier is een grote groep in geslaagd. Ze hebben de meewind, golven en schuimkoppen overwonnen. De week erna zijn tijdens de trainingen op de Bosbaan de puntjes op de i gezet.
Afgelopen weekeind was het zover, kijken of je tijdens het NK toernooi het beste uit jezelf kon halen met de uitdaging om genoeg energie over te houden voor de finales op zondag. Dit is nog een heel karwei want het toernooi werkt via kwart- en halve finales naar DE finales toe. De weersomstandigheden waren qua golven iets beter maar in de loop van het weekeind draaide de wind naar een fikse bries tegen. Veel waar voor je geld.
Er zijn door alle roeiers goede tot hele goede prestaties neergezet met als medaille winnaars:
– Martijn Aris brons in de jongens 18 skiff
– Lois van Dis zilver in de meisjes 18 skiff
– Meintje Scheltinga en Eva van Arman goud in de meisjes 18 2-
Gefeliciteerd voor hen en zeker ook voor alle andere Willem III junioren die zich fantastisch geweerd hebben in het Nederlandse junioren geweld

National Junior Championships Single Scull and Pair in a WAB guise

It may have escaped many people’s attention, but the 2km season started over the past two weekends, albeit slightly differently than in other years. Not at the familiar Bosbaan due to World Championship renovation work, but at the Willem Alexander Baan (WAB) near Rotterdam. A beautiful course in itself, but just a bit too close to the coast and a bit too far away for us spoiled Amsterdammers.

During the Bosbaan Spring Regatta, the juniors had to qualify for the National Championships the following weekend. A large group succeeded in doing so. They conquered the tailwind, waves, and whitecaps. The following week, the finishing touches were put on during training sessions at the Bosbaan.
Last weekend, the moment arrived: seeing if you could get the best out of yourself during the National Championship tournament, with the challenge of having enough energy left for the finals on Sunday. This is quite a task, as the tournament progresses through quarter-finals and semi-finals to THE finals. The weather conditions were slightly better in terms of waves, but over the course of the weekend, the wind turned into a strong headwind. Great value for money. All rowers delivered good to very good performances, with the medal winners being:

– Martijn Aris bronze in the boys’ 18 single scull
– Lois van Dis silver in the girls’ 18 single scull
– Meintje Scheltinga and Eva van Arman gold in the girls’ 18 pair

Congratulations to them and certainly also to all other Willem III juniors who held their own fantastically against the Dutch junior competition

Zaterdag 11 april van 10:00 – 12:00  zal de KNRB een workshop houden in ons Willem III Trainings Centrum voorafgaand aan hun ALV later die dag in onze Societeit.

Hierdoor zal het Willem III Trainings Centrum (W3TC) op zaterdag 11 april van 10:00 – 12.00 uur gesloten zijn om te trainen.

On Saturday, April 11 from 10:00 to 12:00, the KNRB will hold a workshop at our Willem III Training Centre prior to their Annual General Meeting later that day at our Clubhouse.

As a result, the Willem III Training Centre (W3TC) will be closed for training on Saturday, April 11 from 10:00 to 12:00.

Vanwege de ALV van de KNRB is de sociëteit op zaterdag 11 april vanaf 12.00 uur gesloten. Uiteraard is het wel mogelijk om in de hal bij de koffieautomaat koffie en thee te halen.

We zoeken nog vrijwilligers om deze middag achter de bar te staan voor de volgende tijdsloten (de hele periode mag ook):

12.15 – 15.00 uur

15.00 – 17.30 uur

Lijkt het je leuk om de ALV vanaf de zijlijn mee te maken, meld je dan aan om bardienst te draaien via societeit@willem3.nl.

Due to the KNRB AGM the clubhouse will be closed on Saturday, April 11 from 12:00 PM. Of course, it is still possible to get coffee and tea from the coffee machine in the hall.

We are still looking for volunteers to work behind the bar this afternoon for the following time slots (the entire period is also possible):

12:15 PM – 3:00 PM

3:00 PM – 5:30 PM

Jeugdkamp Willem 3 Water Weken

De Willem 3 Water Weken zijn voor kinderen tussen de 10 en 15 jaar die graag kennis willen maken met roeien of hun roeikwaliteiten willen verbeteren.

Wegens groot succes voorgaande jaren organiseert Willem3 ook dit jaar weer de Willem3 Water Weken, waarbij kinderen tussen de 10 en 15 jaar 4 dagen lang van 9:30 tot 16:00 uur kunnen roeien in skiffs en meerpersoonsboten, buiten het roeien om gaan we natuurlijk ook spelletjes doen en lekker zwemmen! Er zijn 2 water weken dit jaar, Week 1 is van DINSDAG 7 t/m VRIJDAG 10 juli 2026  en Week 2 is van MAANDAG 13 t/m DONDERDAG 16 juli 2026.

Ervaren roeiers en coaches zullen de week begeleiden, en zorg dragen dat alle deelnemers veilig op en rond het water zijn. Voor de lunch, een tussendoortje en limonade wordt gezorgd, zonnebrand moet je zelf meenemen!

Roeiervaring is niet nodig maar mag wel! Doordat we gevarieerd met roeien bezig zijn en ook andere activiteiten hebben is de week ook leuk voor iedereen die al kan roeien.

Het minimale aantal deelnemers voor doorgang van de Willem3 Water Week is 10 en bij 20 zitten we weer vol, dus wees er snel bij! De kosten voor de week zijn € 175,- Na het inschrijven via het formulier en bij de minimale behaalde inschrijvingen ontvang je een betaallink. Als de betaling is voldaan, ontvang je een bevestiging. Tot 30 dagen voor de Willem3 Water Week kun je kosteloos annuleren en krijg je het geld weer terug gestort. Daarna is restitutie niet meer mogelijk.

Willem 3 Water Weeks Youth Camp

The Willem 3 Water Weeks are for children aged 10 to 15 who would like to get acquainted with rowing or improve their rowing skills.

Due to the great success of previous years, Willem3 is organizing the Willem3 Water Weeks again this year, where children aged 10 to 15 can row in skiffs and multi-person boats for 4 days from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Besides rowing, we will of course also play games and enjoy a swim! There are 2 water weeks this year: Week 1 is from TUESDAY 7 to FRIDAY 10 July 2026 and Week 2 is from MONDAY 13 to THURSDAY 16 July 2026.

Experienced rowers and coaches will supervise the week and ensure that all participants are safe on and around the water. Lunch, a snack, and lemonade will be provided; please bring your own sunscreen!

Rowing experience is not required, but is welcome! Because we engage in a variety of rowing activities as well as other events, the week is also fun for anyone who already knows how to row.

The minimum number of participants for the Willem3 Water Week to take place is 10, and we will be full again at 20, so be quick! The cost for the week is €175. After registering via the form and once the minimum number of registrations has been reached, you will receive a payment link. Once payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation. You can cancel free of charge up to 30 days before the Willem3 Water Week and receive a refund. After that, refunds are no longer possible.

Wil jij de 2026 Staatsloterij World Rowing Championships van héél dichtbij meemaken? Meld je dan aan als vrijwilliger voor de WK. Als je je aanmeldt via de onderstaande link word je ingedeeld op een leuke functie die direct met de roeisport te maken heeft óf de ondersteuning van de atleten. Denk hierbij aan meewerken in het startgebied, bemannen van de infobalie voor roeiers óf het tillen van boten van onze medaillewinnaars.  Allemaal leuke taken dus!  Als je graag met je ploeggenoten wil samenwerken, vermeld dat dan vooral in het opmerkingenveld bij je aanmelding!

Vanochtend, zaterdag 28 maart 2026 rond 10:30 uur, is mijn iPad Pro inclusief Apple pen meegenomen vanaf het bankje voor de centrale hal terwijl ik kinderen aan het coachen was.

De iPad en pen zijn beide gegraveerd met mijn bedrijfsnaam Rock454. De iPad en Pen zaten in een zwarte hoes. Vanuit Apple Find My was te zien dat de iPad voor het laatst gezien is in de buurt van RIC alvorens hij was uitgeschakeld.

Mocht iemand de iPad zien, vinden of aangeboden krijgen, zou ik het bijzonder fijn vinden als je contact met me opneemt. Hij mag natuurlijk ook gewoon in de brievenbus van Willem3 gedeponeerd worden.

Dear Members,

This morning, Saturday 28 March 2026, at around 10:30, my iPad Pro along with the Apple Pencil was taken from the bench near the central hall while I was coaching children.

Both the iPad and the pencil are engraved with my company name, Rock454. They were in a black case. According to Apple Find My, the iPad was last seen near RIC before it was switched off.

If anyone happens to see, find, or be offered the iPad, I would greatly appreciate it if you could contact me. It can of course also be placed in the Willem3 mailbox.
