The flat season started with somewhat of a whimper on Wednesday but it begins to pick up pace as we approach the weekend and on April Fools Day, it's two of William Hill Radio's finest jesters who line up to preview the cards.

Mick Naughton and Ross Brierley take a look at Musselburgh's first meeting of the flat calendar and they also gear up for the 'real' start of the flat season, the William Hill Lincoln at Doncaster on Saturday.

Ross will be joined by Sean Quinn and Gary Capewell on Friday's show with Musselburgh supported by Stratford, Newcastle, Wolverhampton and Dundalk.

William Hill radio's Ross Brierley is refusing to take off his all-weather punting hat and goes to the sandy slopes of Southwell for three potential money spinners on Thursday. Goron Brown does the grilling and the light humour ahead of a jam packed afternoon and evening.

Gordon Brown will be in the studio on Wednesday alongside Chris Pimlott and Mark Slater for the meetings at Southwell, Ffos Las, Warwick, Kempton and Meydan from 12.50pm.

This year's Thoroughbred World Championships pitch up at Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby, and the Americans are bidding to take their crown back. The past two renewals hugely favoured European raiders with their usual dominance of the turf events supplemented by a liking for the Pro-Ride surface in California, but this year the Yanks have got the edge. It's back to dirt for many of the events and that should swing the advantage the way of our Trans-Atlantic cousins.

Saturday night is where it's at with Zenyatta bidding for back to back wins in the Classic, Goldikova aiming to cement her place in sporting history in the Mile and a clutch of exciting youngsters, including Master of Hounds, Utley and Boys at Toscanova, hoping for a shot at the big time. Plus, Workforce bids to become the only horse to win the Arc and follow up at the Breeders' Cup.

We kick off on Friday with the ladies taking centre stage. Midday bids to repeat the dose in the Filly & Mare Turf, and Blind Luck takes on Life at Ten in the Ladies Classic.

Town Moor is once again the venue for Thursday's feature card as the St Leger 'festival' continues with another rock solid betting day on the Yorkshire course. The fields are huge, the quality is top notch and the prize money ain't too shabby either as we build up to Saturday's big race in style.

The podcast features the musings of ex-jockey / trainer Mick Naughton, fresh from being overlooked for the Legends race on Wednesday, and the selections of Cornelius Lysaght, who goes through the Donny card with the proverbial fine tooth comb.

US Open Tennis Quarter-Finals with Nick Lester

The US Open continues in earnest as we reach the Quarter-Final stage at Flushing Meadows. Sky Sports' Nick Lester is out in the States and joins us to deliver his verdict on the last eight.

On the mens side of the draw, it looks likes a straight fight between Rafa and Roger, 5/4 each of two and apparently destined for a showdown in the final. The womens looks a little more open, however, with Caroline Wozniacki the new favourite and Kim Clijsters hot on her heels.
