Since the farm has become almost busier than I can handle as a single rancher, I've decided the best way for you to catch up with me and the farm is through the website or our Facebook page.

Come see what we're up to at:

One of the things we love our the Jacob sheep are their fleeces. While they do turn into beautiful works of art, we choose to sell ours completely raw - saves the buyers money ( a LOT of it) and they also get to come and pick which one they'd like.

Our Jacobs produce a nice 3" - 6" length of a fine-medium crimp and from 4-6 pounds, which I'm told, is wonderful for hand spinners.

Seriously now. We have so much fun at Farm Life Camp!

This fun group was hands on from the moment they got here on day 1 learning about nutrition to grooming and yes, riding! As an added bonus for all, we keep our groups SMALL. Some camps think 30 is a small group and it may very well be for them, but for us, 9 is our max as it gives plenty of time for us to teach each of our kids as

Bowl of Cuteness! Every now and then it just has to be done. We're not fans of discing up the land - and don't for our large hay fields, but this small area is hard & compacted and it just needs to be done.

As a bonus, all that sheep poo in there will be a great fertilizer when it comes time to seed!

Have you heard of gleaning? Just Google the word and you'll come up with definitions, groups and more. We were on our way back from picking up half a ton of our GMO free feed for the chickens and found these and a few more handfuls along the side of the road, next to the field after the trucks picked the field clean. One of our favorite things to do with the farm is teach. We love being able to teach both kids as well as adults the how & why of what we do as well as for them to learn more about it for themselves.

Does your child's school do field trips? If so, forward this page on to your teacher and we'll get them scheduled in!

Well, it's that time. While we're always sad to see one of our livestock animals go, we know that we've treated them well. fed them the best we could get, respected them and they are giving us back the most amazing food we could ask for.

A few weeks ago we processed our first cow in Idaho and one of our first meals was Chicken Fried Steak. We had NO leftovers as even the pickiest eater loved it. I'm going to think that my cooking had something to do with it, but I'm pretty sure the grass fed & finished beef made a statement all it's own.

While not highly visible, can you see our new trees for the driveway? We purchased them with leaves on but wanted to wait just a little longer to transplant them. Not very pretty right now but come spring, they will be gorgeous and offer some really pretty shade.

I can only imagine what they will look like 10 years from now ... maybe with grandkids climbing in them! :O

Yes, it's that time of year again. I LOVE fall ... harvesting the crops, the farm starts to slow down and I look forward to enjoying the holidays.

One year. 365 days. It's been a busy year.

We've gone from living in a 240 sq ft camper - life on the road back to life on a farm.

We've purchased a farm outside of Boise, Idaho in Kuna. We've made Idaho our home and then decided that it would be our "retirement" home state after we put in a few more years of work in Washington.

Don't ever toss your pan drippings or the carcass! They make for exceptional broth and soup base. Take your drippings and carcass and toss it in the largest pot you can find (OK, within reason) and add some chopped carrots, onions, celery and 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar (it helps pull the minerals out of the bones but leaves no flavor behind)

Body Wash

For those of you with sensitive skin, I feel your pain. There was just something about this photo... I love seeing the horses run.
