Pengertian Rack Server

Rack system adalah rack yang khusus di rancang untuk penempatan server ataupun peralatan jaringan network seperti switch dan komputer server .

Manfaat rack adalah lebih kepada efisiensi ruang atau tempat, juga komputer maupun peralatan akan lebih mudah dalam maintenancenya .

Satuan istilah pada rack system adalah sbb :

19″ = 480mm (lebar) termasuk tepi-tepi atau telinga yang menonjol pada setiap sisi modul yang memungkinkan untuk diikatkan ke rak bingkai dengan sekrup.

1U = 1,75″ atau 44,45mm (tinggi) Agar berdekatan ruang antara komponen rack-mount, panel adalah 1/32″ (0,031″ atau 0,79 mm) kurang tinggi daripada jumlah penuh rak unit akan berarti 1U panel depan akan menjadi 1,719″ (43,66 mm) tinggi.

Ukuran unit rack didasarkan pada rak standar spesifikasi sebagaimana ditetapkan dalam EIA310.
