If you’re a follower of the @wpug twitter feed you’ll have noticed that it’s been a bit quiet over the last month or so.
There are various reasons for this that I won’t bother you with. (I’m fine by the way-thanks for asking.)

This means that there’s been loads of news, articles, blogs, etc. which I haven’t been tweeting about. As I’ve just caught up on my reading lists this leaves the question about how to share the relevant articles? I considered drip feeding* them into the twitter feed.
This would mean that they potentially get to the regular audience and appear in the archive which can be a useful resource when searching (hint).

The other alternative is just to publish them here. This is what I’m doing.

* Not drip feeding them and just tweeting them all in a hurry would be likely to upset followers whose time-lines I end up filling.

If you think I should also drip feed them through the twitter account too let me know.

So, in no particular order:

This book is another in the ever growing number offering an introduction to Windows Phone development. This one takes a slightly different approach to others I’ve read by opting for a “cookbook” style where it aims to provide a collection of “recipes” which the reader can apply to their apps.

In case any of you were not aware of this:

As part of the continued effort to encourage developers to build and publish apps in the Windows Phone marketplace, Microsoft have re-launched the Windows Phone Developer Reward Programme. The programme is simple. Successfully publish a unique and original app in the Windows Phone Marketplace and the developer will be rewarded with one point. The developer can then decide to redeem their point for a 12 month magazine subscription or Gyro Stealth Flyer Remote Control Helicopter (more options available also). The developer can earn up to 4 points and redeem a PocketCinema Projector, XBOX360 Console or 22 inch LED TV. Only catch is that they must successfully publish their apps in the Windows Phone marketplace between now and the end of January 2012.

This reward programme is free to register and is open for all (including students). The developer will just need to have their own AppHub membership. So, help us spread the word and encourage your customers to developer an app for the Windows Phone marketplace this holiday season and get rewarded!!!

Despite previous suggestions about a possible meeting in November. Our next meeting will be on December 7th.
The usual invites will go out once we’ve confirmed the speakers but if you wish you can register now via http://wpug17.eventbrite.com/.
That’s right, we aren’t having a meeting in November. This is down to a number of factors: the October meeting was later in the month than usual; other events happening around the same time; and we thought it better to space out our meetings better, rather than have nothing in December.

It’s intended that this will be our last meeting at Juno and next year we’ll be somewhere bigger. If you’re one of the people who said you knew somewhere that may be suitable but never actually told us where, it’d be great if you could get in touch. ;)

See you on the 7th.
