Bernie Campbell is a retired RCMP officer and former WPPB member & past president. Bernie was diagnosed with AV Malformation (Google it) and spent the past 5 years undergoing intense physical therapy that would allow him to return home and live with this family again. Well, he’s back home now and couldn’t be happier!

The Flint Scottish Pipe Band is the oldest continuously performing band in Michigan. The band was established in 1916 by Scottish immigrants’ intent on preserving their Highland heritage. Today’s band is a familiar sight at many area festivals and parades. The band also participates in music competitions in the United States and Canada.

This is the The Flint Scottish Pipe Band’s annual celebration of all things Celtic. Join the party as it kicks off its 97″‘ anniversary with a traditional ceilidh (pronounced kaylee). Bagpipe bands that are scheduled to perform are the Flint Scottish, Grand Rapids, Windsor Police, City of Detroit and St. Andrews. There will be dance performances by the Ardan School of Irish Dance along with highland dancers. The very popular Celtic band, Equinox, will also provide musical entertainment throughout the evening. Traditional Scottish foods will be available, including meat pies, bridies, Scotch eggs, soup in bread bowls, shortbread and pastries that will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

• Blair Robertson won the 2012 Champion Supreme award – Grade 3 Drumming

All three champions were recognized and given awards at the annual PPBSO Highland Gala.

The Windsor Police Pipe Band is proud to participate in a breast cancer research fundraiser hosted by The Scottish Club of Windsor. The Band will be selling tickets for $25.00 each which includes a steak dinner.

Nevertheless, this has been a tremendous year for the band and certainly the most successful in many years. We narrowly missed the PPBSO Champion Supreme title despite having bested the other bands repeatedly.

With the end of the season comes some lessons learned and an eagerness to get back out there and do it all over again, only better! The band leadership is already working on changes to the music, and we are all looking forward to a few new additions to the band.

We’ll see you on the field in 2013!
