December 1 – December 10, 2023

Join Wine Diva Deb for an adventure to ancient Egypt, as well as its modern enjoyments on a Nile River cruise for the ages. Arrive in Cairo, and explore the pyramids and Sphinx of Giza. See the Ramses II statue in Memphis and King Tut’s tomb in Cairo’s Egyptian Museum. (Note: upon its opening in 2022, the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza will replace Cairo’s Egyptian Museum for this itinerary.) In Old Cairo, see the Church of the Virgin Mary (also called the Hanging Church), built in the place where Mary and Jesus were said to find refuge during their flight to Egypt, and visit the Alabaster Mosque. These and more exciting discoveries are to be found as you see Egypt’s incredible monuments to pharaohs and gods of Egyptian history.

Fly to Luxor to embark on your Nile River cruise. You’ll visit the Luxor Temple, Avenue of the Sphinxes, monument of Karnak, and the Temple of Amun-Ra before enjoying an onboard welcome reception on your ship. Visit the valley of Kings and Valley of Queens, where the pristine tomb of King Tut was found with undisturbed riches and splendor. This incredible cruise on the Nile River takes you to amazing ancient sites, including the twin temples at Kom Ombo, devoted to the crocodile god Sobek-Ra and the falcon god Horus. Ponder the magnitude of the task of building the pyramids with a visit to the granite quarries—where an unfinished obelisk still remains. Visit the Temple of Isis, then take a return flight to Cairo to wander the world’s largest open-air museum, and browse the bustling maze of the endless bazaar in Cairo’s medieval alleys. Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime vacation tour in Cairo, expedition to the Egyptian pyramids, and a Nile River cruise you’ll never forget.

Later in the day, let Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum charm you with its remarkable collection of self-playing musical instruments; or taste one of the town’s special delights, Rüdesheimer coffee, ceremoniously made with brandy, coffee and whipped cream. Discover the iconic red sandstone Heidelberg Castle and Great Vat, an 18th-century, 49,000-gallon wine cask. For a more active adventure while in Heidelberg, join a guided hike up the Philosopher’s Path, aptly named during the Romantic Period, and enjoy panoramic views of the city. Alternatively, you can visit one of Germany’s oldest cities, Speyer, known for the largest Romanesque cathedral in Europe—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—and the medieval Old Gate, Altpörtel. Or pedal along the river Neckar to the picturesque medieval city center of Ladenburg and enjoy some free time to explore the shops. (B,L,D)

Enjoy getting to know Basel, Switzerland’s third largest city. Long an important university, banking and trade center, Basel’s glorious past is still evident in its medieval town hall, richly decorated market square and exquisite 18th-century patrician homes. Tour the city by foot or on a guided bike tour that takes you through three countries: Switzerland, France and Germany. Alternatively, go on a full-day excursion to Lucerne, or opt for one of the morning excursions and visit Lucerne in the afternoon. With either Lucerne excursion, you’ll have the opportunity to see its Lion Monument – the figure of a dying lion carved into a hillside in memory of the Swiss Guards massacred during the French Revolution in 1792 – which Mark Twain described as “the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world.” You’ll also see Lucerne’s spectacular medieval walls and towers, dating back to the 13th century.
4 – 14 October 2023

Join Wine Diva Deb aboard the Azamara Onward for this unforgettable journey through the Mediterranean.

This journey begins in Venice, perhaps the most romantic city on Earth. Enjoy a gondola ride through the canals before dining at Ristorante Quadri or Antiche Carampane—two of the oldest restaurants in the city.

From here, we say arrivederci to Italy and zdravo to Slovenia with a late-night stay in Koper. Immerse yourself in the city’s Old Town and be sure to check out Titov Trg, the heart of Koper’s medieval core. Up next is Pula, Croatia, a stunning Adriatic city that’s home to a wide assortment of beautiful Roman architecture, followed by a late-night stay in another Croatian gem, Dubrovnik. Nothing short of awe-inspiring, Dubrovnik is surrounded by ancient walls that protect an old town full of winding limestone streets and brilliantly baroque buildings.

The late-night stays continue when we arrive in Corfu, Greece. Home to the breathtaking Achilleion Palace and Mon Repos villa, this island is a popular destination for explorers and foodies alike. Be sure to sample pastitsada (stewed meat in a tomato sauce with generous amounts of paprika) while you’re here—it’s a Corfiot specialty. The next morning, you’ll arrive in Argostoli, Greece, a lively town sprinkled with trendy boutiques, chic cafes, and friendly locals. Strolling the pedestrian-friendly streets, you’re sure to hear the sweet sounds of Greek kantades performed by talented musicians. While you’re here, don’t miss Drogarati Cave—home to the captivating underground Melissani Lake.

From Argostoli, it’s off to Gythion and the warm turquoise waters along Lakonikos Bay. And because it is Greece—where there’s no escaping the past—you can get your UNESCO World Heritage fix at the 13th-century Byzantine citadel of Mystras. A late-night stay in sun-kissed Santorini, Greece, is next. Sailing into port, it’s hard to not be captivated by Santorini’s towering cliffs that plunge into the shimmering turquoise waters and its beaches that make it an ideal destination for sun worshippers.

The seaside resort town of Ҫeşme is our next stop. A popular destination for both Turks and tourists, it’s the perfect place to discover by sea with its pristine surfing and windsurfing conditions, but also by land through its collection of Greek neoclassical buildings in the Old City. Our journey concludes with an overnight stay in İstanbul, Turkey. A truly alluring city, İstanbul melds together the Eastern and Western worlds, creating a unique atmosphere unlike any other on Earth. Food, architecture, history, it all has a distinct flavor in İstanbul, and it’s all waiting for you to discover on this spectacular voyage.

Join Wine Diva Deb on the Azamara Quest exploring Australia’s south coast. Get ready to dive into adventure down under with 13 incredible nights cruising the Great Australian Bight from Sydney to Perth with Azamara. Beginning with the Sydney Opera House as your backdrop, take some time to marvel at sophisticated Sydney before setting sail for metropolitan Melbourne.

With a late stay in Melbourne, wander to take in the restored 19th-century architecture—including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition building—plus interconnected arcades and laneways, filled with vibrant street art, boutiques, restaurants and cafés. Next up is another late night in Portland. Take a walk along the picturesque waterfront to view the city’s original architecture, including buildings that date back as early as 1845. Take another day at sea to indulge at one of our specialty restaurants, then we hop over to Kangaroo Island for yet another late night, where a world of wildlife awaits, including koalas, platypus, ring-tailed possums, birds, and 45 plant species found nowhere else on Earth.

Ahh Adelaide, with plenty of time to explore thanks to an extra-late stay, relish the foodie scene and immerse yourself in Aboriginal history and culture in this leafy, cosmopolitan city on the south coast. Two more days at seas follow, perfect for spending night’s taking in the Broadway-calibre entertainment on board. Next, it’s on to Esperance—home of Cape Le Grand National Park—followed by a stop in Albany to view its beautiful Victorian architecture and a late stay in Margaret River to explore this renowned wine region.

Our journey ends with an overnight in Perth, but the adventure doesn’t have to. Once considered a backwater town, Perth is now at the vanguard of cool, with cutting-edge art, miles of stunning beaches, and a culture that’s both relaxed and impatient for the future.

6 – 17 October 2022

Join Wine Diva Deb aboard the Azamara Journey for an awe-inspiring highlights of the Adriatic. Journey from the ancient wonders of Greece to the bustling cultural centers of the Dalmatian Coast, starting your trek with an overnight in Ravenna.

With ample time to indulge in Italian cuisine and to explore Ravenna, you’ll be ready to lay your head to rest as we sail to Slovenia. Full of historic wonders—like the 12th century St. Mary’s of the Assumption Cathedral—and just 30 minutes away from the Skocjan Caves (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), you’ll appreciate the late departure. Another late stay in Bologna allows you to sample some of the finest pasta, cheeses, and meat sauces Italy has to offer, then set sail for three awe-inspiring Croatian ports.

One of Croatia’s most underrated and eclectic cities, Zadar is a juxtaposition of old and new, and you’ll love exploring its artistic flair during a late stay. Spend a day outdoors on the island of Hvar—fondly known as “the sunniest place in Europe”—letting the fresh air caress your skin. Then, we’re on our way to a late night in the city of Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in itself, boasting impressive stone walls, winding streets, and charming squares dating back to the 7th century.

History awaits on the next leg of your voyage, with a stop in Kotor as well as a visit to the mystical island of Corfu. With its hauntingly beautiful landscape, culture-filled countryside, and UNESCO World Heritage Site Old Town, you’ll have plenty of adventure to fill your day and evening on this late-night stop.

Spend time with loggerhead sea turtles in Zakynthos, a gorgeous, beachy resort town in Greece. Then, spend a relaxing day at sea before completing your trip in Athens. Brimming with markets, museums, and more, you’ll want to cap off your Adriatic adventure with a few days discovering the capital of Greece and home of western civilization—Athens.

9 – 17 September 2022

Join Wine Diva Deb on the Azamara Quest exploring the essence of Spain. We depart from Lisbon onboard the 700-guest Azamara Quest for an overnight sail and early evening arrival to Seville.

This area is rich with Andalusian and Roman history, architecture, flamenco and is credited with inventing tapas. The two overnights we have in port will allow you time to explore. Next in Gibraltar, our sightseers will visit The Rock which rises nearly 1,400 feet out of nowhere. Our next two days will visit Malaga found along Spain’s famous Costa del Sol and in Cartagena which has been colonized by nearly every superpower over the centuries from the Romans to the Visigoths each of whom have left their cultural mark. In Valencia, be sure to tour Oceanogràfic – one of the world’s biggest aquariums with polar zones, underwater tunnels and an underwater restaurant. Barcelona will bring us to a fitting conclusion with another overnight in port. Azamara ships are almost always able to dock at the foot of Las Ramblas meaning you can walk directly into town.
