Operation World Pray for Guinea : Guinea’s political situation is cause for prayer. Successfully held elections in the 2010s were followed by a Presidential attempt to change the constitution to allow himself more terms in office. Following massive protests and a food crisis, a military coup in 2021 deposed the President and promised a return to civilian rule by 2024. To no one’s surprise, the coup leader was elected President in 2026 by a landslide. Currently, the Christian minority and the missionary community still have the freedom to share the blessed hope of Christ to a nation long-plagued by poverty, corruption, and uncertainty. May they seize this opportunity with confidence and faith – the people of Guinea are desperate for hope.

Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Operation World Pray for Guatemala : Praise God for the growth among evangelicals who now are almost 25% of the population, in 25,000 congregations! The 1976 earthquake, the pain of war, and the witness of believers and missionaries all drew many to Jesus. Growth came quickly among Pentecostals, but faith is not always deep. Many mix pagan practices and beliefs with biblical faith, or follow attractive teachings on prosperity. Churches that fail to disciple new believers may lose them in the next two decades. Pray that pastors and leaders will demonstrate Christ-like humility, and rise above foolish divisions and greed.

Operation World Pray for Guadeloupe : The protests, strike, and riots back in 2009 were the largest in Guadeloupe’s history and pointed to deep dissatisfaction with its relationship to France. Many feel like second-class citizens in a cul-de-sac of poverty, resentful of the continued colonial dynamic with France and its rich white scions living on the islands. Though a settlement was based around increased wages for tens of thousands, the deeper issues of autonomy and identity will continue to simmer. Historic (and justifiable) mistrust of the French government’s health policies re-emerged in 2021-2022 with violent protests against France’s vaccine requirements. Pray for wisdom for both France and Guadeloupe’s leaders to handle these issues in peaceful ways that bring genuine long-term benefit to the people.

Operation World Pray for Guam : Guam is the hub of Micronesia, and as such, the population is multicultural and diverse. There is spiritual and church growth among many of the immigrant communities, including the Chinese, Koreans and Filipinos. Micronesian groups have dozens of churches, although their more isolated villages and their tribal culture present an evangelistic challenge. The continued influence of cultural and animistic traditions holds back their discipleship. Also, with such ethnic and denominational variety, unity is an important issue and a need for prayer.

1944 – World War II: Commencement of Operation Overlord: The Allied invasion of Normandy begins with the execution of Operation Neptune—commonly referred to as D-Day—the largest seaborne invasion in history. Nearly 160,000 Allied troops cross the English Channel with about 5,000 landing and assault craft, 289 escort vessels, and 277 minesweepers participating. By the end of the day, the Allies have landed on five invasion beaches and are pushing inland.

We mourn deeply those who gave their lives upon those waters, sands, fields and skies. Receive them, we pray, into Your eternal peace. Let their sacrifice never be forgotten, and may their memory remain a guiding light for generations to come.

We lift up those who survived—the wounded, the weary, the brave souls who carried the weight of that day long after the battle was done. Grant them healing in body, mind, and spirit. May they know honor, gratitude, and the quiet comfort of Your presence.

Lord, we praise You not only for their courage, but for the brotherhood that bound them, the unity that carried them, and the hope that endured through the darkness.

The man buried beneath this tombstone at West Point Academy, it is Robert Lee Wolverton, Lieutenant Colonel, 506th Parachute Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, West Point Class of 1938. “Bull” Wolverton commanded the regiment’s third battalion, and, in the years to come, his men long remembered when, on the afternoon of June 5, their 30-year-old commander pulled them together at England’s Exeter Airfield. As they formed around him, the native of Elkins, West Virginia, known by the nickname “Bull” back at West Point, shared these words with them. “Men, I am not a religious man and I don’t know your feelings in this matter, but I am going to ask you to pray with me for the success of the mission before us. I would like you to get down on your knees and pray and while you do this do not look down, but look up, with heads held high to the sky. God almighty! In a few short hours we will be in battle with the enemy. We do not join battle afraid. We do not ask favors or indulgence but ask that, if you will, use us as your instrument for the right and an aid in returning peace to the world. We do not know or seek what our fate will be. Operation World Pray for Greenland : Almost every settlement in Greenland has a Lutheran church – but many lack real spiritual life. Pray for renewal. Modern culture clashes with Greenland’s old ways, and many now battle with immorality, sexual abuse, alcoholism, mental illness, and suicide. Some indigenous believers and foreign missionaries serve in counselling, healing, and deliverance, and see wonderful fruit by the work of the Holy Spirit. Pray for this to continue. Thank God for new airstrips that opened remote settlements for ministry.

Operation World Pray for Grenada : Hurricane Beryl’s damage in 2024 was a repeat of that done by hurricanes Ivan and Emily in years past. These hurricanes destroyed or damaged up to 90% of the island’s buildings. The agriculture and tourism sectors were virtually annihilated. Both sectors were rebuilt, but at the cost of crippling external debts. Some of this debt was restructured, but long-term solutions are still needed. The global spread of COVID in 2020 and afterward devastated Grenada’s tourist industry, on which it is heavily dependent. Pray for sustainable solutions to Grenada’s current challenges as hurricanes become more destructive. Pray also for debt reduction/forgiveness rather than restructuring, and for Grenadians to put their faith in God above all things.
