Zomato hacked, data of 17 million users stolen

India's largest-restaurant guide Zomato appears to have suffered a major security breach. According to a report in security blog HackRead, "A vendor going by the online handle of 'nclay' is claiming to have hacked Zomato and selling the data of its 17 million registered users on a popular Dark Web marketplace."

The company too has admitted the major security lapse in a blog post. "The reason you're reading this blog post is because of a recent discovery by our security team -- about 17 million user records from our database were stolen. The stolen information has user email addresses and hashed passwords," said the company in the post. The company has total 120 million users.

The company, however, claimed that the data is safe. "The hashed password cannot be converted/decrypted back to plain text - so the sanctity of your password is intact in case you use the same password for other services," adds Zomato's blog post.

It also assured users that the "payment-related information on Zomato is stored separately from this (stolen) data in a highly secure PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) compliant vault. No payment information or credit card data has been stolen/leaked." Zomato further added that on its part, it has reset the passwords of all affected users. "As a precaution, we have reset the passwords for all affected users and logged them out of the app and website. Our team is actively scanning all possible breach vectors and closing any gaps in our environment. So far, it looks like an internal (human) security breach - some employee's development account got compromised." In its blog, HackRead claims that the price for the set of the whole package is claimed to be $1,001.43 and that the vendor has also shared a trove of sample data to prove that its data is legit. HackRead added that it tested the sample data on Zomato.com's login page and found that "each and every account mentioned in the list exists on Zomato." HackRead's team reportedly also sent password reset email to some of the email addresses given in the data to further check the veracity of 'nclay's' claims. This too revealed that the data is 'genuine' as email IDs turned to be registered with Zomato. Zomato was founded in 2008 by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah. It has operations in 23 countries, including India, Australia and the United States.

लखनऊ (ब्यूरो)। प्राइमरी स्कूलों में
सहायक अध्यापकों की भर्ती के लिए
अनंतिम मेरिट लिस्ट शुक्रवार
को जारी की जाएगी। टीईटी मेरिट
के आधार पर पहले चरण में
प्राइमरी स्कूलों में 72,825
शिक्षकों की भर्ती की जाएगी। इसे
बेसिक शिक्षा की वेबसाइट http://
upbasiceduboard. gov.in पर शाम 5
बजे के बाद देखा जा सकेगा। आवेदक भरे
गए फाॅर्म से इसका मिलान कर सकेंगे और
इसमें किसी प्रकार की त्रुटि होने पर वे
8 जुलाई तक अपनी आपत्ति दे सकेंगे।
जानकारी के मुताबिक शिक्षक
भर्ती के लिए करीब 68 लाख आवेदन
प्रदेशभर के जिलों में प्राप्त हुए थे।
वेबसाइट पर डाटा अपलोड करने के बाद
कोई त्रुटि होने पर इस सूची में शामिल
आवेदक अपनी आपत्ति संबंधित जिले के
डायट पर दे सकेंगे। 12 जुलाई तक इन
आपत्तियों का निस्तारण होगा।
डायट प्राचार्य संशोधित
सूची एससीईआरटी को देंगे और इसके
बाद मेरिट सूची 18 जुलाई को वेबसाइट
पर डाल दिया जाएगा। 19 जुलाई
को जिलेवार काउंसलिंग
का विज्ञापन निकाला जाएगा।
काउंसलिंग 20 से 23 जुलाई तक चलेगी।
इसके बाद नियुक्ति पत्र 14 अगस्त तक
जारी कर दिए जाएंगे।
राज्य शैक्षिक अनुसंधान एवं प्रशिक्षण
परिषद (एससीईआरटी) ने इसके लिए
नेशनल इन्फार्मेटिक सेंटर (एनआईसी)
को पूरा ब्यौरा उपलब्ध करा दिया है।
ऐसे देख सकेंगे अपना नाम
एससीईआरटी के निदेशक ने
बताया कि वरीयता सूची जारी होने
के बाद वेबसाइट पर डाल
दिया जाएगा। वेबसाइट पर पहले अपने
जिले का चयन करना होगा। इसके बाद
आवेदक को अपना नाम लिखना होगा।
बाॅक्स में प्रदर्शित कोड फीड करने के
बाद सबमिट का बटन दबाना होगा।
नाम पर क्लिक करने के बाद प्रदर्शित
विवरण देखें। इसमें यदि आवेदन पत्र से कुछ
अलग है, तो प्रिंट आउट निकाल ले। आवेदन
पत्र से अलग विवरण होने पर इसी प्रारूप
पर संशोधन को भरने के बाद
स्वप्रमाणित करते हुए आईडी प्रूफ लगाने
के साथ संबंधित डायट पर 8 जुलाई शाम
5 बजे तक प्रत्यावेदन जमा कर दे।
