The first forum was Youth2Business, where reps from myEG, IBM, NAZA and BSN came to talk about <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_social_responsibility">CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)</a>&nbsp;and all the types of programs they fund and support through their respective companies they represent. Then we had lunch, then continued to the second forum, Youth2Government, where representatives from ASTRO, the Ministry of Human Resources and 2 more people....whom I forgot where they were from =P It was basically speeches from all of them, then Q&amp;A sessions between delegates and the representatives. The deputy HR minister herself was present to answer the queries posed by the delegates. Then we had tea break. After that, it was time for some final project pitching; I actually chickened out till the last minute. To my surprise, the Junior Youth Empowerment Program was quite well accepted by many people. I met Dandy Ling Kwong, fellow Bahai from Sarawak and working in Penang. I was glad I met him; had some moral support. =) So after dinner, I elaborated &nbsp;on my project and got a pretty good response. Nominations were cast and the results will be known on Day 3. Jointly organised by <a href="http://www.aiesec.my/">AIESEC</a> and <a href="http://myharapan.org/">myHarapan</a>, the theme of the summit; The Power of Y (Gen Y, or us, of course) is directly related to what I have learnt all my life; <a href="http://ycmw.blogspot.com/">YOUTH CAN MOVE THE WORLD!</a> Firstly we had the Sustainability Expo, where we were divided into groups of 4 to 6 people and we went around to a few booths where we listened to talks and did activities to understand social, economic and&nbsp;environmental&nbsp;issues better. Then, we had a working lunch, where we had to come up with an idea connected to the issues we learnt about earlier. My teammate came up with the idea of "mini hydro turbines", where little turbines are attached to taps and generate electricity when the taps are turned on. This can be implemented in homes,&nbsp;restaurants, and basically every industry that uses flowing water to function.<br /> <div><br /> </div><div>Later, there were talks on Environmental Sustainability, Social Sustainability, and Economic Sustainability. I attended the Environmental Sustainability talk, in which 2 speakers spoke; Steve McCoy and, guess who??!!! <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #351c75; font-size: large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: lime;">DATO DR DIONYSIUS SHARMA, CEO OF WWF MALAYSIA!!</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: lime;">!</span></span> I had the chance to hang back after the talk and speak to him, and I found out that, much to my excitement, he did his BSc in Ecology <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">IN UM</span>!!! I had a chance to tell him about my ambition and my wish to volunteer with WWF, and he told me to drop him an email so he can add me to the list of volunteers. Damn, I was really hyped to be able to meet him.&nbsp;</div><div><br /> </div><div>Later, we had talks on self discovery and goal setting by Steve McCoy and Leadership Activation by 2 speakers; Roshan Thiran and Dr. Goh Chee Leong.After that, we had a few skills workshops, and I attended the Strategic Thinking and Project Management workshops. I had a good time and learnt a very interesting thing at the Strategic Thinking skill workshop; AB+ 2 Drivers + 1 Basis = Strategic Thinking (I will be blogging about this later on). This talk was conducted by Chris Tan, who is the founder of <a href="http://www.churassociates.com/">Chur Associates</a> (a legal firm) and the author of the book "<a href="http://greensugarmerchant.com/">Turning Green</a>". The Project Management workshop was conducted by Mdm. Lilyana, and she conducts events for Khazanah Global Enterprise. He is a contractor, and he was renovating his new house, and was fixing something on the first floor when he fell on his back from the first floor and hit his head. It happened on Friday, 28th June, and he passed away the next day.<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; Uncle Ah Tong wasn't what you would call a very remarkable guy; he was just another family man who loved his wife and children very much. But there are two things that stand out most in my mind regarding him; his gregariousness and his sense of&nbsp;humor. I always will remember him as the "noisy" uncle who always jokes around with my dad. He's has a sense of humor of the "Phua Chu Kang" variety, and I know dad really enjoyed his company.&nbsp;Uncle Ah Tong and dad always exchange hampers during Chinese New Year and Diwali. I would say he is one of dad's closest friends.<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; I went to his wake just now. We lighted joss sticks, and I did the prayer for the departed, and dad and I went to have a last look at Uncle Ah Tong. He looked so peaceful and calm, just like he was in a deep, undisturbed sleep. I was expecting him to sit up and have one of his loud discussions with dad anytime. It felt weird to see him lying down so calmly.<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; Uncle Ah Tong, I may not know you so well, but I do know that my dad is going to miss you, because there aren't many people like you. I hope that you are at peace wherever you are, and hope to see you on the other side. Don't get me wrong; its not like they concur with my temper flares, they do give me a piece of their minds when I need it; but they are considerate enough to let me simmer down first, then point out what I did wrong, when I am actually listening instead of pouring steam out of my ears. Needless to say, its friends like these that have contributed to my personal growth. They are the ones who helped me find my inner peace. They are the ones who let me know its not&nbsp;necessary&nbsp;to be "Superwoman" all the time, that its all right to cry and let it all out. Well, to explain that, I have to explain the meaning of my name first.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; My parents named me <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">Diyaa</span>. It has roots in Hindi/Persian. It means <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">light/splendor</span> (what were they thinking? LOL). So, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: cyan;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">Wings of Radiance</span></b></span> literally and figuratively means "Diyaa's Freedom" to me =)<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; Blogging gives me the freedom I need. As I always say, this is my domain. No one tells me what to do. Hi. I am Diyaa. I am known as theangeldevil to my friends. Why? Because I think I have a double personality (no, seriously) Why I'm starting to write a blog? Well, lets just say that I have too many thoughts and ideas that the <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">close-minded</span> community I live in does not really appreciate, and neither do my family, thus this is my last option to find any kindred souls out there. Apparently I was the cutest baby in the family. <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">Wish I had retained some of the cuteness thou</span><span style="text-decoration: line-through;">gh. Heh</span>.<br /> <br /> I enjoy many activities<br /> &gt; reading<br /> &gt; listening to music<br /> &gt; basketball<br /> &gt; soccer<br /> &gt; facebooking<br /> &gt; reading manga<br /> &gt; watching anime<br /> &gt; doodling<br /> &gt; hitting the gym<br /> &gt; staying up late doing nothing particularly<br /> &gt; writing (songs, poetry, etc)<br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;I'd probably fill a book on the activities I love doing, so lets move on, shall we?<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;I enjoy simple things in life; strolling along the beach at sunset, curling up with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book on a cold day, lying down on the grass feeling the sun on my face, and many more....<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;My sole aim in life is to live it to the fullest without having any regrets. Seems to be an uphill task though. Heh. Anyways I'm still striving for it. Maybe one day it will happen. LOL.<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;I look up to the late Steve Irwin (more popularly know as the Crocodile Hunter) as my hero. I am planning to do Conservation Ecology with double majors in Zoology and Marine Biology soon. I pray that I will live up to my hero by doing what he strived to do before departing this world<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Friends are very precious to me. I am a lone wolf; people whom I call my friends are rare. I may look vivacious and bubbly and friendly on the outside, but only my inner circle of friends know me as I really am. Thus, I value friendship as much as I value family.<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Well, thats all I can think of for now.
