The origin of Black Magic - city of Babylon

Assalamu Alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters

We all have heard about Black Magic - but not many of us knows where does it originates? how come people know about the art of magic? So in this blog, I'll be sharing answers to the above questions as described in the Qur'an.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

Two angels named Harut and Marut came down to the city of Babylon. Where is Babylon ? It's in Iraq (mesopotamia) and is said to be the most ancient city, the first real civilization.

-So Allah tells us in the Qur'an how did Black Magic begin.

Allah sent down two angels with the knowledge of how to control or access the jinn and the angels were sent to the city of Babylon and they were allowed to teach anybody who wanted to study with them the art of magic. The angles also came with a warning which was "we are a test from allah so do not commit kufr by learning from us". They angels also said "whoever learns the knowledge of black magic they would have no share in the next world".

Nevertheless, the babylonians learned the spell which they would use to cause a fight between a man and his wife, would cause a divorce between them. Though they are never and were never ever able to cause any harm to anyone except by the permission of allah. Allah tells us that whatever they learned itself had no value except if Allah gave permission and they learned what would harm them and not benefit them.

Now its interesting what the babylonians were learning was to try and harm someone else but Allah describes it as something that they would learn to harm themselves because they're gonna have no part in the Akhirah and what a horrible thing they sold themselves for had they only known.

Black Magic has no benefit unlike alcohol.

They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." 2:219

Allah also says in the qur'an that alcohol is harmful and yet it has some benefit, but the harm outweighs the benefit and as far as Black Magic is concerned there's no benefit, it's only evil.

Those who studied it became the first magicians and all magic that exists today somehow goes back to babylonians. There are different school of thought, different arts, different ways, different forms within magic its not the one but they all originate at Babylon.

-that's all with the origin of Black Magic.

There's this thing that I also wanted to share with you and that is "Nothing happens in this universe except by the permission of Allah" so make Allah the witness of your problems and wait for his permission. Indeed, those who are patient Allah is with them and Allah alone is everything you need to prosper.

The story of Robert Davila

Assalamu Alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters

Have any of you heard about Robert Davila ? Well, I guess not. But soon you'll get to know about him, a neck-down paralyzed christian's journey towards embracing Islam.

Robert was born in September 1980 in Texas, USA. Growing up, he wasn't religious, leading a life of instability and loss. In 2001, Robert met with a car accident which changed his life forever. When he woke up, he found himself lying at the hospital bed and was unable to move his body. The accident left Robert paralyzed from the neck-down.

Robert has since resided at The Longmeadow Care Center in Texas. He became best friends with his roommate, Mark. In 2004, Mark died in the operation theatre due to complications with his condition. He needed a liver transplant. When Mark died, his sister gave Robert his crucifix [A cross with the body of Isa AS on it] and Robert asked for the cross to be hung above his bed as a reminder of his friend.

10 years after the accident, Robert had a dream that made him to embrace Islam and changed his life forever.

Robert said "I went to sleep and it was so real. I was in the middle of the dessert; I saw hills and winds blowing the sand in all directions. At a distance, I saw a man who said my name is Mohammed. The Prophet SAW pointed at my cross and said "Look at the Prophet Isa, he eats food like us, he walks like us, he's human not God. God sent prophets so that we can worship God not prophets."

Robert suddenly woke up from his dream and embraced Islam.

At that time in his life, Robert had never seen or been to a mosque, had never communicated with muslims, and had never held the Qur'an.

After his dream, Robert Davila accepted Islam and dedicated much of his time in reciting and remembering the Qur'an and studying the religion, he even went for Jumma prayer at mosque. After three years of embracing Islam, Robert has become an inspiration to many Muslims living in America and around the globe.

-that's all with his journey.

Now coming to the point, if Allah can guide Robert Davila, why can't he guide you ? No matter how sinful you are, no matter where you're stuck in life. You just need to seek his guidance and Allah will open doors for you from where you never expected.

What are the Haram ways of Earning in Islam ?

Assalamu Alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters

Alhumdulillahi Rabbil A'lameen (all praises is for Allah the lord of the worlds), who made all good halal for us and all kinds of evil haram. Wealth is one of the immeasurable blessings of Allah (SWT) that He bestowed human being with. There are various provisions for achieving the wealth. In human life, earning plays an important role in making life meaningful.

Ever since our childhood, we are taught by our society that in order to live a respectful life and fulfill all our desires, we need 'Wealth'. However, in my opinion there's a flaw in this lesson, the lesson should be "in order to live a respectful and peaceful life we need wealth which comes from Halal means".

Now in quest for this wealth not few of us take a wrong way, or I'd say earn from haram means not only because that's the fastest train towards wealth to catch but also very few of us knows the consequenses of earning from these means.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) said:

"Every flesh nourished by haram deserves fire"

[Shu'abul Iman, 5521]

-And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) also said:

“A time will come upon the people when they will not care as to how he gets his money whether legally or illegally.”

[Bukhari]

Keeping in mind the above Hadiths because none of us wants to be in Hell, allow me to explain the haram ways of earning as a momin's source of income is one of the 5 questions Allah will ask on the day of judgement according to the below hadith by the Prophet SAW:

“The son of Adam will not pass away from Allah until he is asked about five things: how he lived his life, and how he utilized his youth, with what means did he earn his wealth, how did he spend his wealth, and what did he do with his knowledge.”

[Tirmidhi]

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

-Let us first understand What is Haram ?

حَرَام‎, ḥarām, is an Arabic term meaning forbidden (A sin which has no scope of Allah's forgiveness). Acts that are haram are typically prohibited in the religious texts of the Quran, and the Sunnah category of haram is the highest status of prohibition. If something is considered haram, it remains prohibited no matter how good the intention is or how honourable the purpose is.

The Haram ways of Earning

Interest/Riba
Any amount you give, take, and record which is more than the principle amount is considered as interest and is Haram. It is explained in a Hadith that the Prophet of Allah said, “Every debt that attracts a benefit is tantamount to Riba.” (Ilaus Sunan, 14:499)

Bribery
It is a kind of an under-the-table offer to make an unlawful thing as lawful and a lawful thing as unlawful. Abdullah Ibn Amr (ra) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has cursed the one who offers bribery and the one who receives it. (Abu Dawood, 35:80, Tirmidhi: 13:37, Musnad Ahmad: 6532, Mustadrak, 4:115)

Gambling
Gambling is the betting or staking of something of value, with consciousness of risk and hope of gain. There are many forms of gambling, including lotteries, insurance, dealing in closed boxes and scratchcards, card games like poker and blackjack, betting on sports or events, playing casino games, gambling machines or bingo. The income earned through such activitites is considered as impermissible in Islam.

Theft and Robbery
Taking someone's property without their knowledge and earning through the sale of that property is forbidden in Islam. Allah SWT said in the Qur'an “As for a man or woman who commits theft, cut off the hands of both to recompense them for what they earned a deterrent from Allah.” (5:38)

Deception in Inheritance
Depriving a person from their stake in family property is strictly impermissible in Islam and is also considered as haram.

Others:

Taking a false oath while selling
Selling defective products in a deceptive manner
Deception in measurements and weights

Conclusion
The above listed sources of income are considered as haram ways of earning and are also subject to severest punishment, please make yourself well versed with the hadiths of Prophet SAW and religious texts before making any product, activity or a contract as a means of your income.

Assalamu Alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters.

Do you know there are 6,236 Verses, 114 Chapters, 30 Books and countless words of wisdom in the Qur'an ? Its been 1440 year since the revelation of this pure book, but unfortunately few of us knows this. In this digital era, it is difficult to find out time to read the book written by the greatest of great writers.

Inshallah, in this blog I'm going to discuss the 10 most beautiful ayats from the Qur'an hoping that after this you start reading Qur'an on your own. I know 10 ayats is insufficient for a sinner like me to motivate you people to start reading Qur'an. But if Allah wills, even one ayat causes one to become Hafiz-e-Qur'an. Having this positive mindset, let's begin.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

1. Surah Ghafir | Ayah 60

You know the best part is, He knows everything but still wants to listen and talk to us.

2. Surah Ibrahim | Ayah 7

Whatever you own presently, be it a small house, old fashioned clothes, outdated smartphone - just be grateful and remember the Hadith of Prophet (SAW) narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) "Look at those who are beneath you in position and not those who are above you, for it is more suitable that you should not consider as less the blessings of Allah".

3. Surah Baqarah | Ayah 286

Whatever is it that you're going through consider it as less and you'll see things falling into place.

4. Surah As-Shu'ara | Ayah 80

Doctors and medicines are just a medium.

5. Surah Ar-Ra'd | Ayah 28

The remembrance of Allah is like a meal to your soul and if you do not feed your soul properly, you'll allow Iblis to feed it with dirt.

6. Surah Al-Qasas | Ayah 24

This dua was said by Musa Alayhi Salam when he found no help after leaving his hometown - the rest his history.

7. Surah Aal-i-Imraan | Ayah 185

Three things are written before you're born - Income, Spouse and Death.

8. Surah An-Nur | Ayah 21

Don't catch a train which will take you away from your destination.

9. Surah At-Talaq | Ayah 2

There's a way in, there's a way out for those who fears Allah.

10. Surah Al-Anfaal | Ayah 75

Have no regret for what's gone. Be grateful for what's about to come.

- So, those were the most beautiful ayats I feel from the Qur'an.

One more thing that I wish to share with you people is that I'm not good at reading Qur'an on my own as I belong to English medium, but Alhumdulillah I still read 10 verses everyday while stucking at each Hurf. Are student loans haram ?

Ever wondered are Student Loans halal in Islam ?

Assalamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters

Most of the youngsters have this common goal of getting a degree from a top ranked university and to secure their job position in a highly paid Multinational Corporation. Ever wondered about those Alhamdulillah less fortunate Muslims, who are not only able to finance the tuition fees of those universities but also bound by their Islamic principle of not taking loan which requires them to repay back with interest (Riba). So In this blog Inshallah, I’m going to discuss how do Muslims manage to pay for university?

With rising tuition fees, the options are limited for Muslims who don’t want to use the Student Loans Company. They may try to lower costs by applying for fee waivers, scholarships, hardship schemes, apprenticeships, bursaries, or zakat (charity funds). While some believe that student loans are impermissible, others say that ‘necessity legalises the prohibited’."NECESSITY", if there's a necessity, then only one can take an interest-based loan.

Now the issue is: what is 'necessity'?

Based on requirement, a matter can fall in one of the 3 categories as per Usul Al-Fiqh.

Necessity (Darurat): this means without which you can't live, like - food, clothes and shelter.
Need (Hajat): this means you can live without this, but without this, you will have inconveniences.
Beautification (Tahsiniyat): this only beautifies life. there is no need or necessity of this.

Example of 'necessity' is that if you are dying of starvation and you only find pork (pig) to eat, then it becomes halal at that time.

Example of 'need' is - you need a car to go to work if the buses are very crowded and infrequent. So this need makes car insurance (the minimum that is required by law) halal.

Example of 'beautification' is that you buy a Mercedes-Benz instead of a regular sedan.

--the above has just set the stage for understanding ---

Now here comes a student loan. Is it 'necessity' or 'need'? The vast majority of scholars will not put this in 'necessity' bucket. Maybe a 'need' on a case-by-case basis.

Now, what type of sin is usury (riba)? This is a major sin.

A major sin can't flip a 'need' from haram to halal.

So by default, this riba will earn him a major sin. But if your case is special and you think higher education is a 'necessity' for you, then talk to a scholar or a knowledgeable imam. Otherwise, it is a sin.

CONCLUSION: By keeping in mind the above fatwa, I'd conclude that student loans are Haram. So avoid considering student loans not only because it's haram but also because of the debt burden on your head after the completion of your degree.

How to focus while praying

Assalamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters.

This is a very serious concern that many of us are unable to concentrate while we stand to pray in front of our creator. So today, I'm going to share with you some of the effective strategies that I Alhumdulillah personally use while praying and I believe that Inshallah this will help you too.

But before that, let me tell you a hadith in Sahih Muslim 2203.

One of the companion of prophet (may peace be upon him) whose name is Uthman Bin Abi Al-Aas (may allah be pleased with him), came to him and said: "The Shaitan comes between me and my salat and causes me problems with my recitation." So the Messenger of Allah, (peace be upon him), said: "That is a shaitan called Khanzab, so if you feel his presence, seek refuge in Allah and blow a mist to your left three times." He said: "I applied this advice and Allah has rid me off him."

So by keeping this in mind that whenever we stand in prayer a shaitan called Khanzab comes in between to perform his part, allow me to begin.

In the name of Allah, the most beneficent and merciful.

The very first thing I'd say (as suggested by the prophet SAW) is that always make an intent that this can be my last prayer so make the most out of it.

Do not watch a movie or listen to music before prayer otherwise its scenes or lyrics will be kept playing into your mind.

Take a look at this picture before you're going to pray and keep it in mind that you're praying exactly at this place of Masjid Al Haram while actually praying.
Understand the meaning of the words of Qur'an so that you're aware of what you're reciting and this will help you to stay focused while praying.

The moment Iblis disturbs you with unwanted thoughts, don't give it a second opportunity to ruin your prayer, the very next moment tell yourself that Allah SWT is watching me or you're praying in front of your Lord.

So these are the strategies that I'd suggest you people. Never ever think that these are very difficult to implement. Nothing is difficult, Allah SWT says:

"And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives" Quran 53:39

"And that his effort is going to be seen" Quran 53:40

"Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense" Quran 53:41

My brothers and sisters strive for it using those pointers above and Allah will bless you with the ability to concentrate.
