Feeling safe in your home is very important–and a good way to ensure that you and your family are as safe as possible is to have some form of burglar alarm monitoring.

Here are some insider tips on understanding how burglar alarm monitoring works–and what you can do to purchase this form of protection at a reasonable price.

How Does Burglar Alarm Monitoring Work?

In a home alarm monitoring system the premise is simple. When you have this security system in place, and keep an eye on what’s going on, you are much less likely to be the victim of a burglary.

There are certain areas of the home that are monitored for movement with equipment supplied by the monitoring company.

Doors and windows that are opened when the alarm is set will trigger the alarm to go off. (The alarm is often very loud which usually causes the would-be burglar to flee the area.)

When the alarm goes off an alert is sent to the monitoring center. Once the monitoring center receives an alert, they will call the home. This helps to ensure that it is not a false alarm.

If there is, indeed, a situation the monitoring center needs to respond to they will call the necessary emergency response departments to ensure that help is on its way.

Maintaining Your Safety

Quite simply, by installing the alarm in your home, you are deterring burglars.

Photo: ell brown

When a burglar is choosing a home to rob they will be much less likely to choose one that has signs or stickers stating that it has a monitored security system. If that is not enough to keep them away the sound of the alarm is likely to do so.

These systems are also able to detect other emergencies. Many have a panic button that can alert the monitoring center that there is a problem. It can also detect smoke, which is helpful if there is a fire in the home.

How to Choose a Burglar Alarm Monitoring Company

The first step you must take when choosing a burglar alarm monitoring company is to find ones that are available in your area. (Not all are nationwide.)

Once you have done this, it is important to check and compare user reviews of the companies. Look into the company’s history. It is helpful to know how long they have been in business to know how much experience they have responding to alerts.

Comparing companies online can be done easily and is a great way to determine which company provides the best service at the lowest price.

Security Camera Software can aid you in protecting yourself, your family, and your and your families’ stuff. Here are a few tips to understanding what security camera software can–and can’t–do, as well as tips for finding an affordable package to keep your family safe at a reasonable price.

Benefits of Security Camera Software

The world is not as dangerous as prime time television would have you believe. Still this software is desirable because, it only takes once, and you could be staring on one of those horrible news reports right from your front porch.

If nothing else, the extra security can help you, and yours sleep well at night, even after watching a scary movie. Just remind the kids that the cameras are watching out for aliens.

How to Use Security Camera Software

Software for cameras can enable you to monitor and record the happenings at several locations at once. Some of these also enable you to watch over your home, family, or business, no matter where you are. You can use your email, the Internet, or cell phone for viewing.

Another feature you can get is notifications when there is movement in a monitored area. You can set the cameras to record only at certain times or only when movement is detected. Some will let you secretly spy on questionable members of your household. However, hopefully, this will not lead to a divorce.

Note: Not all software works with all cameras, but you can find it for wired and wireless systems. This is often used with web cams.

How to Buy Security Camera Software

When considering brands, the first thing to consider is if it is compatible with your cameras or computer. (Sometimes, some of these get bad reviews just because the buyers did not use them correctly, or brought them for something that was incompatible.)

When you look at the price, also see what is included for the price. Sometimes other accessories must be purchased. The Visec Security Software boasts of having been programmed by people at NASA level. It can do notifications, multi cameras, and has spy mode.

The Cisco-Linksys Wireless-N Internet Home Monitoring Camera is another great option. (Just check out the reviews.)

For just pure software tools, take a look at Spector Pro Computer Surveillance system. is fairly inexpensive at less than one hundred dollars. You should consider your needs and budget to determine which one you buy. Happy hunting.

Looking for a super cheap way to keep you and your family safe…then you might want to look at fake security cameras. Used both by themselves and in conjunction with real security cameras they can be a superb deterrent to would-be thieves as well as saving you a ton of cash in the process.

Here are reasons why fake security cameras are a great investment–and tips for getting the best price possible.

What Fake Security Cameras Offer

The realistic look of fake security cameras cannot be detected by most people. Almost all fake cameras have a LED light that will either be on at all times or it will come on with the detection of motion.

The cost is very minimal compared to the prices of real security cameras. Fake cameras can be bought with prices ranging from $5.00 to about $50.00.

Using fake security cameras can also save you the time and labor of installation and also they are so much cheaper than real security cameras.

Blending Fake and Real

You can purchase real cameras along with fake ones to cut down on the cost of putting security in your place of business or home.

Having the cameras will also ease your mind because people tend to use more caution when a camera is spotted in different locations. As long as the real cameras are aimed at strategic spots, the fake ones can be in secondary locations.

The visibility of cameras will be an advantage to any retailer or homeowner. When people see cameras, no matter whether the cameras are fake or real, they assume that filming is in process.

It is best to purchase all cameras–real and fake–at the same time so that they look alike, or at least similar in style and design.

How to Buy Fake Security Cameras

There are any number of retailers online that carry many different styles and types of cameras. Whether you are looking for fake security cameras or real security cameras, the choices are endless.

Check out as many online retailers or local stores that you can find to see exactly what they offer. If you persist, you will be able to find very good deals on any and all the cameras that you may need. Amazon is great becaue of their return policy. Check out online reviews to find a model to fit your needs.

Just remember that even if a camera looks real, it just might be a fake. So be sure you know what you’re buying.

My brother is..shall we say….financially challenged. (Read: broke) But when he got kids he started to get interested in wireless security alarms. Trouble was, he didn’t want to pay more than 50 bucks. I know, tough to get a heavy-duty centralized alarm system. But then I suggested he get this GE 51107 Smart Home Wireless Alarm System Kit for 30 bucks (Correction: Price has gone down to 25). Now it’s not perfect, you’re not gonna get a SWAT team to come to your house. But if you’re looking for home alarm systems of the do it yourself variety than this puppy will work out just fine. It’s a bit loud for my tastes, and won’t cover a huge area. But if you live in an apartment–and maybe not in the best part of town–then this thing will work perfectly. Installation–totally easy. (If Rob can do this, I promise you can do this.) All in all a great wireless security alarm to add to your home.<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"><tr><td><img src="http://wireless-security-alarms.com/images/B00032AVN6/41h0rHKvgqL._SL75_.jpg" /><td></tr><tr><td>The GE 51107 Personal Security Alarm Kit includes everything you need to help secure your home, including a deluxe door alarm with a four-digit keypad and three independent window alarms.

DIY Home Security Systems are like the walkie-talkies from when I was a kid. You get what you pay for. That being said for less than a hundred dollars this is one of the most affordable wireless security alarms on the market. Yes, it may promise a 450 ft. range and may not live up to that billing. (My ipod is supposed to go 12 hours on a charge..uh..yeah right.) But for smaller houses/apartments this wireless security alarm will do just fine. Some of other folks who’ve reviewed it have complained about the sensor issue. I had NO problems, and found the installation a breeze. but you gotta read the manual. (can’t just skim over it like an IKEA desk.) So if you’re looking for ultra-cheap diy home security systems, than this unit will fit your needs. (And it will work a lot better than my old walkie-talkie.<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"><tr><td><img src="http://wireless-security-alarms.com/images/B001WLSV9I/" /><td></tr><tr><td><td></tr></table>

With the recent economic downturn, protecting your family and your home has never been more vital. Wireless security alarms can be an affordable–and simple–way to make sure your loved ones and possessions are secure in these tumultuous times.

If you’re thinking about purchasing a wireless security alarm, here’s a guide to separating fact from fiction when it comes to buying wireless security alarms.

Wireless Security Alarms Myth No.1: Costs Way Too Much

Some people will tell you that wireless alarms are expensive, but this just isn’t true. With an upper range of the mid-300s for the super nice models to ultra-affordable models in the 50 dollar range, wireless security alarms can be a very budget-conscious way to ensure your home’s protection.

This is especially true when you consider that signing up for home monitoring system can run close to a hundred dollars a month–with many demanding 2-year contracts.

Now you may not be able to get every feature you want for under 100 dollars; finding wireless security camera systems, for instance, on the ultra-cheap may be slightly difficult. But for an otherwise basic feature set, a wirless security alarm should be available for roughly 200 dollars.

Wireless Security Alarms Myth No.1: Installation is…Hard

Whether it’s a wireless door alarm or any one of DIY home security systems, there is always a fear that comes over somebody who’s considering a purchase of this kind.

I mean…how will you ever learn to install home alarm systems? Do it yourself projects tend to turn into do it yourself until you have to hire somebody, and with all those electronics you’ll never be able to get it. (I know I have trouble setting up my router.)

But the truth is setting up a wireless security alarm really isn’t that hard. Just a couple of connections and you’re good to go. This is especially true if you’re in a brand new home. You can set everything up with the walls and crawlspaces exposed.

Final Note: My wife was able to set up home alarm monitoring at her mom’s place. And if she can do it….

Wireless Security Alarms Myth No.3: Not Animal-Friendly

I don’t mean to imply the alarms don’t like dogs. Instead one of the most common complaints I hear is: a wireless security alarm will be triggered by pets.

This may have been a problem in the 90s, but now many wireless alarms have pet-friendly sensors, so you won’t have any false alarms. So now you’ll know each and every alarm signal is a genuine one, giving you the peace of mind that only a wireless security alarm can offer.
