This should be the first question on your mind whether you are building or buying a new house for you and your family.

You will need only the best home security system to protect your loved ones as well as your valuables. But there are so many options out there that it can leave you rather confused about picking out the best home security system. To make it easier for you to pick out the best home security system, narrow it down to looking at the features of a hard-wired system and a wireless system.

The Hard-wired System

This may be the best home security system for you if whatever is described here will suit your lifestyle and your needs. A hard-wired setup will usually be best installed while you are building your house so that you can install all the needed cables ahead of time. This will save you the time and energy of drilling holes into your walls and ceiling later on just to install the best home security system.

If you are on a tight budget, a hard-wired system may just be what you need. But the problem is that you may be spending more on maintenance costs later along the line. This is probably the only reason why this will not be the best home security system for you.

With hard-wired components, you need not worry about getting weak signals since these simply run through wires. Wireless components must be placed depending on signal strength between the mother console and the cameras themselves. This makes the hard-wired system the best home security system for this aspect alone.

The Wireless System

Going wireless is another home security system option. A wireless system has a lot to offer and one of the reasons it is the best home security system is that it can be installed whether or not you are building a house or moving into an older one. This means that you do not have too many chores to do when it comes to drilling holes and running cables through your house since there are none.

Another reason why a wireless system could be the best home security system for you is that although it may be an expensive investment but overall maintenance costs down the line are very cheap. In fact, you will only probably have to worry about maintaining the power sources for any cameras, microphones, or motion detection devices that you will set up in your house. The one feature that really sets this apart as the best home security system is that since it is wireless, you can set up this system to work on a WIFI network. This means that you will be able to monitor your house from any location as long as you are on the Internet.

Narrow your options between a hard-cabled and a wireless system in order for you to get the best one for the kind of home needs that you have. After all, you only deserve the best home security system to protect the things that you value the most.

Get the latest in

Wireless Home Security System

Outside of ensuring your entrances to the home are manually secure, you may want to consider utilizing special features available for your home security system.

First, you must consider any special circumstances or considerations your family and home may encounter. Do you own the nicest home in the worst neighborhood? Do you live in a high-crime area? If your answers are "yes", then a home security system is vital to protect your property.

Statistics show that unsafe neighborhoods are more apt to experience high rates of burglaries and theft. However, those who live in isolated areas or have high-dollar items visible will also experience higher rates of break-ins.

The cost of your new system should correlate with the value of your property and items in your home. Although these things may be replaced, more security is needed to protect your loved ones who live on the same premises as these valuable items.

Do you have a specific area or room in the home which houses exceptional property? Rare artwork, collectibles, musical instruments and historical memorabilia are all constant targets for thieves. Rooms which contain multiple and expensive electronics such as plasma televisions, computers, and sound systems may also require special attention.

Your home security system may be tailored to give extra consideration to these high-risk areas of your house. The first rule you must live by is not advertising your home's contents. Extremely valuable items should be displayed in an interior room without open windows or doors entering into the room.

Some companies may even offer access control systems for these specific areas. These may include the use of a separate access code to enter this area, in order to keep even welcome visitors away from your valuables.

Voice activations, fingerprint-reading locks, and installing an intercom or panic button system throughout the house may help to individualize your system. Wireless network applications also allow for quick relocation or expansion of the protected area.

Fire alarms and safety are also implemented into modern-day home security systems. This is an added measure of protection, as when one area senses a fire, every audible siren will sound.

This is much unlike smoke detectors, which do not communicate with each other. With only the use of these standard detectors, you will only be notified when smoke finally reaches an area where one is placed.

However, your smoke detectors are still a good indicator of fire, and should continue to be used with your home security system. This will help to ensure that your entire family is notified should a fire begin in your home.

System integration may also allow you to control automatic timing of lights, thermostat settings, and other "smart home" features. This is especially helpful while you are away from home for an extended period of time.

Any key may be copied and used to easily enter a home. However, a home security system offers many more options for individualization, and is only deactivated with the proper security code.

ADT security systems are the leading home security systems in the U.S. Help protect your home and family today with a home alarm system from the number-one name in home security, ADT Security.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Bruce_Kelly

Quickly taking over the conventional home security system, a wireless home security today takes the whole concept of a safe and secure home to whole different level. The peripherals that can be used in a wireless home security system are advanced and more reliable than their older counterparts.

Wireless Visuals

The keyword in all of this "wireless"; a wireless home security system means that you can set up most of your peripherals without the hassle of cables or wires. A wireless home security system means that you can also set up your cameras in every possible area of the room and not just at the corner of a ceiling. This gives more opportunity for you to hide the camera wherever you want. Of course, the wireless home security system will require that the signal is not lost or blocked or else you will not be able to record anything that the camera "sees".

With a wireless system, you can monitor everything going around your home in stealth. It's definitely a plus if you know exactly where to place the cameras so that they are not revealed to intruders or burglars. Wired security systems will only give away the locations of cameras once the cables are discovered.

Wireless Audible

You may want to have microphones installed in your wireless home security system if you feel that installing cameras is too intrusive. Although this is not something as effective as a camera, recordings from a microphone can help in a wireless home security system. For example, you can set up your microphones so that they can trip an alarm when a noise reaches a certain volume level. This is especially useful to use at night to trace unexpected noises around the house. Again, the wireless home security system will give you endless possibilities as to where you can place the microphones.

Invisible Triggers

For basic wireless home security systems, you can put in some alarms and motion detection equipment. This is the easiest, most cost-efficient wireless home security system that you can have set up. All you will need is to have the motion detectors set up so that they will trip an alarm in your house.

For a more efficient security system, you can set up a silent alarm that the police will be able to detect; the intruders themselves will not hear the alarm. This is one of the better options from installing a wireless home security system.

A wireless home security system is definitely the best option you have to protect your home, your valuables, and your family. It takes a lot less time to install because of the fact that it is wireless and most of the peripherals will work on batteries so you don't have to hook anything up to your local electricity. This means that it works regardless of whether there is electricity or not, provided that your mother terminal that controls everything also works on its own power source.

Now, home security is never more than an alarm away. Consider a wireless home security system to protect you 24/7.

Learn the latest at http://www.wirelesshomesecuritytoday.com

If you're not sure who may or may not hold access to your front door, it may be time to reassess your home's security level.

Changing the locks to all entrances of your home may be a good idea if you fit any of the criteria named above, and this is a relatively inexpensive measure to increasing your security. If you have recently purchased your home, changing locks is a must, especially if the prior owner or tenant was foreclosed upon or ordered to leave. Ill wills lead to many break-ins that would be prevented with a changed lock and set of new keys.

If you are a renter, make sure you are aware of your property management's policies on giving out copies of keys. Any change in maintenance employees should be followed by your request for a change of locks. Residents are usually not aware of the circumstances of a crew member leaving their employment there, or whether keys were ever returned to the management office without new copies being made.

Those homeowners who have a garage or security system alarm touch pad should frequently change the code. Many households frequently give out the codes to enter their homes without considering it may ever be used against them. It makes no sense to install a system of any kind, and then simply hand out the code to family and neighbors.

Have you ever given a key to a trusted neighbor who has since moved away? These locks should be changed if anyone has ever possessed a copy of your keys. Burglars are very intelligent and sneaky, and though they may not be the trusted party with the key, they may be close enough to gain access and make their own copy.

Cleaning companies frequently require access to your home when you are not home, and this may also pose a security risk. Always inquire on the company's background check policy for all employees. If an employee is found to breach a customer's security in any way, a reputable company will notify you in order to take the proper precautionary steps. When switching the companies or discontinuing service, always change your locks and security codes.

A simple online search will lend many ideas to inexpensively increase the security of your home. Owners of home security systems may also contact their company directly to inquire of additional measures which should be taken. If you believe your home's security has been breached in any way, inform your security system provider and the proper authorities.

If you live alone, or are frequently away from home, installing a home security system is a must. Those who employ the services of cleaning and maintenance companies to upkeep their homes while away face special security issues. Remote applications allow you to access your system when away from home, and provide 24/7 protection against break-ins, fire and dangerous carbon monoxide levels.

ADT home security is the leading provider of home security systems in the U.S. Help protect your home and family today with ADT alarm systems from the number-one name in home security.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Bruce_Kelly

Safety has never been more challenged than it is today. Keeping your systems safe requires defensive measures. Having defensive measures is not even enough. They have to be good ones. If you are considering a password security system then you need to know how to makes sure that your password security system is done right.

A Good Password

If you want to know how to create a good password then you need to know how to avoid a bad password. You do not want to use something obvious when you create a password. This makes it too easy for someone you know to guess it or someone who knows something about you to figure it out.

You do not want a password that consists of just letters or just numbers. A combination of the two makes your password more secure. You also do not want to make a password out of the name of a loved one or a pet. Again, this is easily guessed and used against you. The same goes for other important numbers in your life such as birthdays or phone numbers.

Protect Your Password

You want to remember you password. Unfortunately, many people do this by writing it down and storing it near the login station. This makes it all too easy for someone else to find it.

Instead, you want to use it repeatedly when you first create it and possibly even write it out several times to help burn it into your memory. After you are done writing it, however, you will want to destroy the paper you wrote it on. The password is only for you to know.

Change Your Password

This may make remembering your password more difficult, but you still want to change your password regularly. This may mean as many as several times a year.

This safety measure may seem like a hassle, but it is a necessity if you want to maintain your password security system. Changing your password is a good piece of advice for all password security systems that you log on to. By changing your passwords several times a year, you make your account that much safer.

If you are considering a password security system then you should keep these tips in mind. A tool is only as good as the person who uses it. Using your password security system is a matter of knowing how to create a good password, how to protect your password, and remembering to change your password periodically.

For more information about the Advantages Of Password Security Systems visit: http://www.home-security-option.com

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Mika_Hamilton

You cannot risk allowing a faulty alarm system not to protect your family from harm, so you must choose a reputable monitored home security system that you know will protect you at all costs.

The number one security company in the United States has been in business for over one hundred and thirty years, providing great security to more people than any other security company has. It has the vast experience and wealth of knowledge about security that helps you to feel comfortable and secure in your home.

Not only does this company keep up with technology, it leads the security world with new technologies that keep your home free from intrusion. It protects your home against theft, vandalism or other human made mischief and it alerts medical professionals if you become sick and press the medical alert button on your personal emergency bracelet.

This company also offers upgrades to your system that will protect your home against fire, freezing and flooding. A sensor on your basement pipes will alert one of the company's calling centers if the water in such pipe begins to freeze so that you will know to take care of it before it bursts your pipes.

A sensor on your basement floor can detect the presence of rising water so and alert the call center who will let you know that you need to get down there and start drying it out before real damage is done. Of course, a smoke sensor will immediately send a message to the call center and to the fire department. The call center will notify you of the imminent danger so that you can safely leave the premises.

Of course, the first and main purpose of a monitored home security system is to protect your home from intrusion. Did you know that over two million burglaries occur in the United States each year? While this is a high number, before certain technological advances became widely available to average homeowners in 1992, over three and a half million burglaries occurred in the United States each year.

The reduction of burglaries correlates with the increase in consumer awareness about the dangers of leaving their homes unsecured and the increase in consumers who actually installed such monitoring home security systems. If you want to deter a burglar, a sign stating that you have such a security system in place is the best way to deter them. Over ninety percent of all burglars will skip burgling homes with such signs in their front yards.

For those burglars who break and enter anyway, your monitored home security system will stop them in their tracks as soon as they break in to your home. With the loud alarm that sounds when they trip the alarm, most male perpetrators flee the scene with its onset.

ADT alarms are the leading residential home security systems in the U.S. An ADT security system can help protect your family and belongings with state-of-the art equipment and round-the-clock monitoring. But, several recent crime studies have demonstrated that most burglaries occur at night, when the family is in the house asleep.

Burglars are getting brasher and home invasions are on the rise. This is not your typical robbery where the burglar sneaks around the house looking for valuables and then makes a quick getaway. The headlines of the newspapers today are filled with stories of home invasions, homicides, families being brutalized by gangs of thugs who not only want to rob people blind, but do physical harm as well.

Home invasions can be terrorizing experiences, and this new breed of burglar is not just out to steal your money, your jewelry and your appliances. They get their kicks out of terrorizing people in their own homes. And these are not just happening in poor inner city neighborhoods. Suburban crime rates, including home invasions, are rising just as fast as urban crime rates are.

With these types of crimes on the rise, and the statistics only pointing upwards, it's time to get current with the current events in home security. Crime specialists, home security experts and policeman all agree that providing your home with maximum protection will decrease the chances of a frightening occurrence such as a home invasion from occurring.

Most experts agree that an advanced home security system is the best defense against offenders like this. They are likely to be armed, so it's important that today's homeowner arm themselves with these facts and invest in a home security system that utilizes the latest in technology to protect families while they are in the house as well as when they are away.

Chances are, if you have a professionally installed comprehensive home security system, a home invasion can be prevented or thwarted by a monitored system whose alarm automatically triggers a phone call to the home. If the phone is not answered, security monitors dispatch police to the location. So if a burglary or home invasion is in progress, the police will arrive in time to apprehend the offenders.

It's not pleasant to consider these statistics, but home security systems can provide that sense of security a family needs in their home. A fully armed system with motion sensors, door alarms and a password activated arming system is the best defense against home intrusions at night. Brash criminals will think twice if they see that a home is protected by a home security system. A prominent sign on the property notifying the potential offenders that the home is protected may be just enough to deter them from disturbing the home To avoid becoming a statistic, and to invest in a secure future for home and family, installing a home security system is the most sound investment a homeowner can make. The statistics don't lie, and neither do the experts. This is the reality of home security today.

ADT alarms are the leading residential home security systems in the U.S. An ADT security system can help protect your family and belongings with state-of-the art equipment and round-the-clock monitoring. The combination of distressing economic news and the upcoming holiday season makes retailers and homeowners more vulnerable to theft and robbery.

Security companies are responding to this information by ramping up their efforts to protect homes and retailers from theft and robbery. One security company unveiled an anti-theft and shoplifting testing center where they simulate the retail environment, right down to the product displays. The press was allowed to view the testing center to see how the anti-theft devices worked and how these security systems can prevent theft.

The University of Florida recently released a study which concluded that retail businesses lost an estimated $30 billion from theft last year. Shoplifting contributed to $12 billion of that estimate, with another $15 billion being attributed to employee theft. With the economy on the downswing, people are becoming more desperate and there is growing speculation that these numbers could rise this year, particularly during the busy holiday shopping season.

Businesses can and should take advantage of anti-theft devices such as tagging merchandise and installing cameras and investing in security systems to insure maximum loss prevention. Theft and robbery affects a retailer's bottom line, and with the economy in shambles and retailers already scrambling to have a decent fourth quarter, losses like the ones estimated last year could be potentially devastating. Analysts say that installing shoplifting prevention devices and monitoring employee transactions on cash registers can be a wise investment in these unsettling times. The testing center demonstrated the effectiveness of these devices, which are extremely reliable in detecting shoplifting and employee theft. It's a well-known fact that if people know that a retailer is protected by anti-theft devices and employee monitoring systems, people will think twice before they decide to shoplift or steal from the cash register.

The same loss prevention strategies that are being applied to retail outlets are also recommended for homeowners. While the security systems for the home and retailing business are different in design, they are both necessary during times of economic turmoil. Home security systems are more important than ever as people get more desperate and burglars become more willing to take risks if they think they can make a big score. Homeowners who work hard to keep a roof over their head should protect what's inside the home. Valuables such as cash, jewelry and electronic appliances like computers and televisions are high on criminal's radar. A home security system can keep these items safe and secure and off the black market.

A home security system is also advisable due to the recent rise in brazen home invasions. This is not merely prowling or sneaking into a home, but breaking down the doors and terrorizing the family inside. A home security system that is monitored can summon help immediately to prevent theft and injury to the homeowner and their families. Industry analysts are clearly suggesting that both retailers and homeowners gird themselves for the possible uptick in theft due to unstable economic conditions.

ADT Security is the leading provider of home security systems in the U.S. ADT security systems can help protect your home and family with state-of-the art equipment and round-the-clock monitoring. This is a scary fact and one that far too many people are unaware of. While many people come from generations where home invasion was unheard of, times are changing and with greater economic insecurity comes a higher crime rate, including home invasion.

While we are unable to prevent crimes such as this, there is much homeowners can do to ensure that it does not happen to them, or that the effects of a home invasion are minimized. Companies such as ADT offer state of the art home security systems that can monitor and protect their homes twenty four hours a day. With a home security system, homeowners are given the peace of mind that they are protected around the clock against home invasions.

Most would-be burglars are stopped by signs and decals warning that homes are protected by such systems and another large percentage of intruders flee when alarms sound. These two anti theft precautions alone are enough to stop most would be invaders. For intruders who fail to heed these warnings, ADT has contact with over 38,000 emergency service agencies, who can respond to any emergency within a matter of minutes.

In addition to alarms, home security services can also provide video monitoring of a home and the surrounding property, which can alert the security service to suspicious people on the property, stopping would-be invaders before they can attempt to enter a home. There are even features available that can protect individual assets.

ADT offers asset protection devices that make it possible to track down your assets in the event of theft. These devices work differently than standard GPS, giving law enforcement the ability to track the devices even when they are underground or inside of enclosed spaces. Whether you are protecting a car, a boat, a safe, or any other valuable, a device such as this offers true peace of mind.

When coupled with basic preventative measures, such as locking doors and removing keys hidden in unsafe areas, a home security system can prevent a majority of break-ins. This can give peace of mind to homeowners and their families. It can also get homeowners a significant break on their home insurance premiums.

While most people want to live in a society where things such as home invasions do not exist or are not common occurrences, that is simply not the case. When the economy enters into a state of turmoil, crime and home invasion rates increase. As people struggle to make or gain money, there are elements of society that attempt to do so by any means possible. For homeowners, this increases the need for adequate home security.

Despite increased risks, there is no need for people to feel unsafe. With a proper system in place almost all home invasions can be prevented or minimized. When looking for a quality ADT system, consumers should look no farther than Security Choice. A licensed ADT dealer, Security Choice offers state of the art systems and top quality service. With the right home security system, you can sleep easy knowing that you are protected twenty four hours a day.

ADT is the leading provider of home security systems in the U.S. Consider helping protect your home and family today with home alarm systems from the number-one name in home security, ADT Security.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Bruce_Kelly

The latest technology provides many new features that homeowners everywhere are clamoring for. Home security systems are getting more sophisticated and that's good news for homeowners who want to be protected. With home burglaries on the rise it's important to know that your home is safe and secure when you're not home and even when you are.

Today's home security systems are set up to be monitored 24/7 by a regional monitoring center. The professionally trained specialists are there to assist in any type of emergency. If the alarm sounds the monitoring center will contact the homeowner and will call the police. Alarms can be hooked up to all the doors of your home including the garage entrance. The alarm can also be installed on windows. This can be particularly important on basement or garage windows that aren't always in plain sight making them targets for burglars.

The latest gadget that home security system owners love is the alarm key chain. Instead of having to arm and disarm the alarm by using the keypad residents can simply press a button on the key chain device. This eliminates the number one cause of false alarms - human error. In the past the biggest complaint of homeowners was that the alarm system was too hard to work and as a result often went without setting the alarm at all - even though they had it installed! The new key chain idea is a hit but you can still use the keypad in the regular way as well.

The latest alarm panels are also more sophisticated. Some even come with a one-button push to talk to the alarm-monitoring center. This feature is great for medical emergencies. You never need to worry about your aging parents living alone. They can push the button to get assistance. In fact some systems even have a portable device that allows residents to connect immediately to the alarm center.

Of course the home alarm system isn't just for burglary alarms anymore. The system can be used to monitor for all types of home emergencies making it a must for everyone. The system can be set up to monitor smoke and fire detection. This can save the lives of your family and can minimize any damage that may occur when the fire department quickly arrives. Another type of monitoring that can be set up is for carbon monoxide. You never need to worry anymore about getting carbon monoxide poisoning. The system can be set up to send an alarm to the monitoring center when the detector goes off.

Other home emergencies that can be hooked up to the home security system include temperature sensors and water sensors. If you have a flood the system will alert the center. If the temperature goes below a certain point the alarm will be sent. These are great options to have for a vacation home. These options will further help keep your family and home secure and protected.

ADT is the leading provider of home security systems in the U.S. Consider helping protect your home and family today with home alarm systems from the number-one name in home security, ADT Security.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Bruce_Kelly

Hosting a game of home poker is legal as long as the game is not played for the host's profits and the stakes are within legal limits. So there is no legal impediment when it comes to hosting a poker game at home but there may be trouble if you pepper the poker room with CCTV security cameras.

When planning a grand poker party, there are things you should do first like asking the people you have invited if they prefer Poker or Texas Hold 'Em. When the people troop to your doorstep everybody is ready to play the game, whether it is poker or Texas Hold 'Em. But if they know you have CCTV security cameras in your poker room, no one will be knocking on your door on Friday night.

It becomes a toss-up between having some CCTV security cameras in the gaming room or not. If you have to have a spy camera in the room, don't aim its focus on the table, but if you must have them let the people know that the CCTV security camera is not focused on the cards but rather on the door to keep track of people coming and going. Should they smell a spy camera without your telling them, you can be sued for breaching their privacy.

Everyone knows that casinos are littered with CCTV security cameras. But a friendly game of poker at home does not need sophisticated spy gadgetry. Unless you are hosting a poker game and an all-nighter at the same time, you need security cameras to protect your house from intruders.

Preparing for Friday Night Poker

Planning a poker party is easy. Call your friends and ask them over on Friday and inform them that you will all be playing poker. Tell them that there is one not a slew of CCTV security cameras in the gaming room and assure them that it is there to track people entering and going out of the room and for everybody's security too. You can ask them to bring their wireless camera detectors for good measure to satisfy them.

For the party prepare a 52 card deck and poker chips and other poker paraphernalia. Set a red tablecloth with black hemming for a card effect. For your round table, a round stained glass lamp will be nice. If you have more players, use an octagon poker table that can seat seven players or a 79"x36" folding table with 10 player positions.

Crank up your jazz collection. Turn on the grill for barbecue treats, and whip up salsa and dips to go with tortilla chips. Prepare tons of sandwiches and drinks, players are always hungry and thirsty; plied with food and drink and an exciting game of poker your poker party will be talked about for weeks, with no mention of your CCTV security cameras because they know about the one in the poker room, so it is no big deal.

CCTV security cameras work best with a closed circuit television. This is certainly good news but a major issue revolves around knowing the various kinds of security camera systems available in the market today. You must also be aware of the location where you exactly need to install the camera. With the increasing technology and the use of computers, it is easy to install a security camera at a low price.

More than picking the right kind of security systems, it is important to plan your new security system properly. I am not going to write volumes on this, but just a few tips for all those naives out there. A lot of inexperienced home owners rush out and make a quick decision even before checking to see what they actually need.

Well, here's what you need to do initially. Take a brief tour of your property and make a map of it. Make sure you are as accurate as possible in the process. Now behave like an intruder in your own house and determine the spots where you can reach the property from. Mark out all the entrances and exits. These will be the prime areas where you need the security cameras.

Now that you have all the blind spots, you must consult a professional security advisor. You must also know that you can always add more cameras around your house to increase the security. But the most important spots are those that you surveyed being an intruder in your own house.

Author is webmaster ofhttp://www.surveillanceequipment.biz and blogs aboutSecurity Cameras and Security Camera Systems.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Sri_Morem

One basis of choosing the right one is to identify what it is that you want to protect in your home or what it is you would like to monitor.

Choosing the best home security system really depends on your lifestyle. Do you spend a lot of time at home? Or are you usually away on business trips? Simple facts like these can determine what the best home security system is for you.

For the Homebody

There are lesser points to consider in choosing a home security system for people who don't travel much or leave their homes. This includes an alarm, which can either be silent or not. The silent option is more suitable to get the police to your home before the burglar realizes an alarm was triggered.

One other important component in a home security system is an electric door lock that only opens and deactivates at the right combination. This is especially helpful when installed in entrances. Those who do not know the combination will more than likely be intruders.

A wireless home security camera will not serve its purpose if it is not paired with a monitor. These monitors can be set up in a den or bedroom and will show live feeds of what the cameras are "looking at". For the homebody this is perfect for round the clock observation of the house and family.

For the Traveler

There are also several home security system options for homeowners who travel a lot. Of course, their houses must be protected or there must be some kind of security system to help in the capture of any intruders in the house.

Motion detection devices hooked up to silent alarms are very essential in this type of situation. This best home security system will set off an alarm that can be used to alert the police (with the right technical adjustment and permissions from authorities) but it will not let the robber know that it has been triggered.

With this kind of home security system, you can set it up to let a trusted friend or neighbor know if there is anything going on in your home while you are away. This will alert your friend that there is someone other than you inside the house and he or she can call the police. Nothing is more essential than to have a camera recording all the events in your house.

Since wireless camera power sources are not reliable, you might want to consider cabled cameras that can get their power off of the local electricity in the house. This is the best home security system and you can have the camera record all the activities in the house while you are away. It is best to hook it up to a computer system that has a large storage capacity. The other option is to have the camera record activities at certain times of the day or night.

Know what kind of person you are and how much time you spend at home. This will help you to determine the best home security system that can protect you, your loved ones and the valuable items that you have in your house.

Your friend's security system may not be the best home security system for you. Learn what sort of home security alarm system is best for your home.

Of course you do! Having insurance is a part of life. Home insurance, car insurance, life insurance... the list goes on. Why risk a fire destroying your home, or losing many of your belongings in a burglary with no insurance to fall back on? It just doesn't make sense.

So consider this: Insurance may protect the cost of your belongings, but it does nothing to protect you from harm! The average home is a very dangerous place; Water, gas & electricity surround us in almost every room. So why put yourself at a risk greater than that of your belongings?

Intelligent Home Control can detect water, gas, smoke and carbon monoxide. Should your IHC system detect a leak, it will cut off the relevant supply. In the event of a gas leak, it will also cut the electricity.

As a precaution against fire, your Intelligent Home Control system can be set to activate sockets at predefined times. You can also control the power supply to cookers and other appliances via a single switch. This can offer you peace of mind should there be children in the home.

Should your Intelligent Home Control system detect a leak of any kind, it will:

* Emit a high-pitched alarm

* Cut off the relevant supply

* Cut off any or all of the other supply's (To reduce the fire risk from electrical installations, should your system detect smoke, it can be programmed to shut most of these down. If your home has a gas supply, IHC can also be programmed to shut this off to reduce the risk of explosion.)

* Send a message to the homeowner informing them that the problem has been contained

Can you really afford not to take such precautions? The Intelligent Home Control system is smart, yet simple & offers unrivalled safety. It should be as commonplace in our homes as insurance!

Next week, we will consider the Control benefits of Intelligent Home Control, so keep an eye out for that article. With this in mind, companies have designed many things to be simple enough for a do-it-yourselfer. Let's say you want a home security system without the cost of installation. You'll be able to find models that were created just for people like you. With step-by-step instructions, all the necessary hardware, and a little common sense, you should be able to install a system in your home in less than a day.

Either a wireless or hard-wired security system will bring out the do-it-yourselfer in you. Start by doing research into the different options available and carefully planning how you are going to perform the installation. You should also read all installation instructions carefully and make sure you understand them. By taking these simple steps, you're going to amaze yourself with how talented you really are.

Plan Well Before a Do-it-Yourself Installation

Starting with a written plan and a lot of common sense will help ensure the success of your project. You first need to draw up a map of the areas which need to be protected and a list of special considerations, such as windows and doors. When you've compiled all of the relevant information, you should be knowledgeable enough to go out and choose the perfect system.

If you're looking for the cheapest way to provide some protection for your home, you can invest in a basic alarm system. This simple unit will make a lot of noise if anyone tries to break in, and the noise will hopefully send the would-be intruder packing. The next step up is a system with both an alarm and an automatic phone call in case of an emergency. The best home security system you can get is one with a human monitoring system which is in operation continuously, all day every day. For a monthly monitoring fee of $9.00 to $30.00, you'll have a service which will monitor your home no matter if you're at home or away.

Once you've mapped out your needs and decided on the equipment you feel will best meet them, you need to start considering where you want to buy your security system. Look for a store which has great prices, high customer reviews, guaranteed free technical support, and a good reputation for customer service after a purchase is made. By choosing the store wisely, you'll be giving yourself the most support around while completing your do-it-yourself project.

Another cost savings in do-it-yourself installation is that you won't need to go out and buy a lot of expensive tools in order to install the unit. All you're likely to need are a screwdriver, a measuring tape, and a wire stripper. Most systems include simple, easy-to-follow installation instructions. If you follow them step by step, you should have no trouble getting your system up and running.

After you've finished, I'll bet you'll agree that being a do-it-yourselfer isn't so bad after all. You've saved a bundle of money and provided the very best in security for your home and family. You have a right to feel proud!

Visit us for more information on self install home security, Alert Home Security Overview and security cameras.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Christopher_W_Smith

They have evolved into systems that can do everything from looking at the inside of your home from 1,000 miles away to ensuring your pets are safe from fire while you are out for the day. Consumer surveillance systems have flourished in the past decade. New advances in technology and capabilities ensure there is a system that can meet most budgets and needs.

There are two major classifications of surveillance technology:

* Hard wired

* Wireless

Your decision to purchase a surveillance system should be based on your needs. It is impressive to have a high-end system that can monitor every room at any time. Is that a system that you need? Opting for equipment or packages that you can't or won't use will be more wasteful in the long run.

Your surveillance system can be programmed to perform a variety of functions. Sensors are available in consumer systems that can detect such things as body heat, break-ins or even air movement indicative of someone being in your home. It is often recommended that consumers purchase the systems that can also perform emergency tasks like alerting occupants over a house fire.

Wireless surveillance systems are ideal for renters. They are also ideal for those in smaller homes or who want to perform the installation themselves. Wireless systems can be portable for easy transport to a new home. Many also offer voice programming and to call specific numbers in case of an emergency. Wireless sensors communicate with the system and make alerts of low batteries, a problem in the system or other such issues.

Wired, or hard-wired, surveillance systems also have their benefits. These systems are wired into your existing walls and structures in order to monitor your home. They are considered by professionals to be more reliable than wireless systems. Such systems are often more aesthetically pleasing and depend on electricity instead of batteries. Consumers also have the benefit of professional installation that are covered under warranties. The majority of companies that contract security systems offer consumer support if you have questions. These systems can also add value to your home.

There are disadvantages with both types of security systems that should be carefully considered before choosing a system. Wireless surveillance equipment may work only when the sensors are placed at the appropriate angles and distances. There will be problems if you place the sensor too far from the system.

Wireless systems are known to go through a number of batteries. You can imagine the energy necessary for a system that is continually monitoring your home. Wireless systems can also be subject to interference from other electronic devices. Several wireless computer networks use a frequency that can interfere with wireless surveillance cameras. Most professionals recommend wireless systems only as a last resort.

Wired systems are not above reproach. There have been complaints about these systems as well as success stories. The price tag on a hard-wired surveillance system can be surprising. These systems are more expensive, and many consumers must also pay for labor and installation costs.

A hard-wired surveillance system also requires access. It may not be possible to run wires through the walls in some areas of your home. This can leave parts of your home vulnerable to intrusion. You may also want to consider the repair costs necessary if you have building materials like plaster or stucco on your walls. These can be easily damaged by drilling and may be difficult to repair. A hard-wired surveillance system is also a perpetual feature. You will not be able to move it elsewhere since it is constructed into the existing walls.

The right security system can make your home safer. It will give you the assurance that you have someone also looking out for your safety. The right information will help you to pick the system that best suits your needs.

Sharon Macdonald is a high-tech security specialist. This major step was how things stayed for quite a while with a range of enhancements and technical developments but the VCR has remained the key element of CCTV systems for 20 to 30 years. The CCTV systems for home or office security included switching systems and multiplexers enabling multiple monitoring or camera points to be included onto the same tape. The great hurdle however was the tape which was always the same length and always had to be changed. Hence multiple recorders could be batched together, at a cost, almost like a jukebox thereby providing further recording time. How often have we heard of systems where the tape was full or just hadn't been inserted into the recorder!

Now we have a major step forward with the Digital Video Recorder or DVR. The DVR employs many of the basic features of the VCR but by using Digital technology is able to provide a complete new meaning to CCTV, home or business security and surveillance systems. The DVR avoids many of the human errors made by VCR users. The software developments have become more and more sophisticated but the relatively low cost of hard disk space has transformed how data can be stored. It's not long ago that the 1 terra-byte of storage would require several drives incorporated into some sort of RAID array. We are now seeing 1 terra-byte low cost drives in the stores. The cost between a RAID array 5 years ago and a single 1 terra-byte drive is probably in the order of 100 to 1 and that alters entirely how security, surveillance and CCTV are able to embrace the new technologies.

The DVR can be a standalone device or increasingly a computer system incorporating a multi-channel data capture device typically enabling the connection of 4, 8 or 16 cameras via a wired or wireless technology. Bosch and Sanyo are two reputable manufacturers marketing stand alone devices but inevitably the cost of a PC plus the cost of a data capture card from Geovision or Avermedia for example is little more than the stand alone DVR and you get a PC to use. Equally you could just add the cards to an existing PC if you have a modern machine with adequate disk storage.

DVR software is obviously important and would normally be shipped with the appropriate card or system. There are software vendors supplying third party software which they believe provide added functionality or increased ease of use. Clearly how you go about choosing your system depends very much on your own requirements so try and list what you think you need. Is your system for home security and surveillance or business security and surveillance? A small business system maybe similar to a home system in specification. It's also possible now to have mobile systems which link a small camera and satnav or gps system to provide an exact location of where the recording is being made. This could again be useful for a business to locate its drivers.

If a system is intended for home use you will need to establish how many points you wish to monitor and do your cameras need to be fixed or moveable with tilt and zoom features. Would you wish to have remote access from any web based location? How many hours of information would you like to record? Would you like to include movement sensors or infra-red cameras? Do you have a budget?

There are so many questions to consider and browsing various vendors' websites will give you more of an insight to what products are available and the costs of components. Some sites provide screen shots, video and download demonstrations.

Peter's website provides many useful links and resources for home security, office security, surveillance and security CCTV and more. These gadgets differ piece by piece depending upon the size and model of the cameras used. Even though this was released quite a few years back, the latest spy cams proves to be one of the most outstanding equipment in ensuring what a person is doing when you are aware to watch over him. Spy cams nowadays are created in such a way that it will match both household and commercial needs.

Despite the fact that spy cams differ in sizes, they actually function all the same. You can buy one to spot what your nanny is doing to your child when you are away for work or you can simply put one on your office to check if your employees are doing the right thing. If you own a store then spy cams are a must-have so in case something untoward event happens, you will have something to serve as your proof so robbers can't get away from what they did.

When buying for one, carefully choose a spy cam that will go along the need that you wish to accomplish. Like if you wish to have something that can operate 24 hours a day then you should specifically look for one that can function that way and not just the ordinary one that you can use during daytime. You should also consider the kind of recording equipment that you are going to use.

http://www.personalsafetycameras.com
http://www.protectusfromevil.com

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Doug_F_McEachern

The F.B.I. reports that there are at least 86,000 burglaries each year and that a house, apartment, or condominium is burglarized every 15 seconds. Fortunately, burglary is one of the most preventable crimes. One way to fight it, and it's becoming increasingly popular, is with a security camera system. Now, not only can you help protect your home with an extra set of eyes, but you can keep track of your nanny, kids, and the elderly.

There are a couple of reasons why security camera systems are becoming more and more popular. First, the security cameras are now affordable and tangible. The cameras are not priced what they use to be five to ten years ago. New technology and increased competition have lowered prices. There's also a wider selection of cameras and camera systems with more retail and on-line stores offering a variety of products. It use to be that security camera systems were exclusive to higher end electronic stores and were more industry than consumer. Today the average Joe can buy a security camera system and he can do so on a shoe string budget. A complete camera system can start as low as $500. And go up to about $4000.

Second, there is simplicity. Security camera systems are now simpler to install, which means you can do-it-yourself and save money. There are wireless or wired camera systems and analog or digital. Wireless is the more popular option because it takes a shorter amount of time to install and can be installed almost anywhere. Wireless camera systems are made up of a camera with a transmitter fitted inside and a receiver. Other than that, it comes with a 12 volt DC power supply, an antenna, and a cable to connect the receiver to the monitoring equipment, which can be a TV, VCR, DVR, or computer.

Third, (and we've already covered some of this) there has been a rise in crime. Burglary ranks as the second most common crime in the U.S. This means home security is an important consideration for homeowners. In preventing theft, while it's a good idea to keep in mind locked doors, landscaping, and alarm systems, a security camera system completes your home security. This means continuous coverage whether you are at home or away giving you a sense of security and peace of mind that you have been looking for.

Fourth, it can save you money. The average burglary will cost a homeowner between $1500 and $2000. Do the math and it could be very worth it to get a home security camera system. Also, if you have a system you can likely save up to 20% on your homeowners insurance.

Fifth, it's cool! Hi-tech gadgets have always been fun and popular. Today security cameras are shrinking in size, producing higher quality images, and getting easier to control and monitor remotely by a computer or even a cell phone. How would you like to answer the door already knowing who's there, keep an eye over your pet while at work, or videotape something at night? "Now homeowners are taking advantage of the same technology to monitor their homes when they are away."

The Safewatch Videoview service is ADT's newest home security system offering to Canadian consumers. Using a series of video cameras, homeowners can make sure family members have arrived home safely, check on possible damage to their vacation home after a storm or monitor the progress of repairmen from anywhere.

"Homeowners are discovering that motion sensing video cameras can make busy lifestyles a little easier by providing customers with email notifications of triggered events and the ability to look in on their homes at any time," McKinney said. "All they need is an Internet connection to log on to an encrypted and secure, password-protected Web site, which can be accessed even through a corporate firewall."

Coupled with a standard home security system, Safewatch provides homeowners with a great way to enhance the services that the home security system would offer, and at an affordable price. The system starts at less than $700 (professionally installed) and costs only $10 month to maintain in addition to regular home security monitoring fee of $30.

"So for under $50 month you have the benefit of a full home security system for intrusion and fire, but you'd also be able to add the video camera component," says McKinney.

The system allows homeowners to capture pre and post video footage of intruders in the event that the alarm is triggered by bringing up the cameras remotely from anywhere in the world. It also has the ability to take that signal and transmit it to anybody accessing the web. But Big Brother isn't watching in this case. The video cameras are password encrypted so you can see your cameras but ADT cannot.

But you don't have to be away from home to make good use of home security video cameras. If a parent is in the kitchen and the kids are in the pool, even if there is no line of sight the kids can be monitored on a television or computer screen from anywhere in the home.

If this system isn't quite high-tech enough for you, security companies say that the sky's the limit if you have the budget.

"Some over-the-top features that we've installed include complete video solutions that have video cameras, starlight cameras (capable of bringing signal back to DVRs so you can record footage 24/7 in the home), weatherproof housing, windshield wipers for the video cameras, blowers, the whole nine yards," says McKinney. These features allow homeowners to secure not only the interior but the entire perimeter of their property.

"All the bells and whistles of the work we do in the commercial world, like banks and high security locations, is now available to home owners if they're willing to pay for it," he says.

Most home security systems today are controlled by a central panel and are capable of sending five distinct types of signals to the service provider. These include intrusion, fire, critical condition (temperature monitoring), gas monitoring, trouble (battery on panel is dropping off or medical emergency).

In general, it's easier to install wiring for home security systems at the construction stage although McKinney says that 80 per cent of their installations involve retrofitting existing homes.

"Technology allows us now to run a lot of things like smoke detectors and heat sensors as wireless so aesthetically the systems are more pleasing. What we've done is taken commercial applications and aesthetically designed them for the consumer space," says McKinney. "At the same time, we've been able to bring the price down, making home security more attractive to the average consumer."

For more articles about home security visit http://www.newinhomes.com

Amy Bostock is the Editor of newinhomes.com. This is great for anybody who travels often and wants to check in on his or her house and make sure that it is safe. Monitoring your IP camera, or cameras, this way is the most basic way to do so. It allows you to see what is going on in your home or business, but it does not allow you to change camera angles or use features like motion detection or any sort of alarm or notification.

IP security camera software is perfect for anybody who wants to use more features with their cameras, or anybody with several IP cameras set up. It is also a good idea for people who use IP cameras for their business to use software so it can be easier to manage the cameras in your system.

Software designed to manage IP security cameras can be expensive, but they are incredibly useful and can be a good investment in your home or business security. The software usually costs anywhere from $100 to $1200. If the software available does not work with your budget, you can probably find some affordable software on online auction sites. Also, a lot of IP security cameras come with their own software, so if you are not buying software for cameras that you already own, it is a good idea to look at IP cameras that come with software.

Since IP camera software can be expensive and it is a big investment into your security system and your home or business' security, you have to make sure that you buy dependable software that will do its job well and give you all the features you need. In order to make sure the software you are interested in is dependable, you should look up reviews for the product. It is a good idea to look up professional and customer reviews because they can give you a good idea on how the software works. Professional reviews can go through the specifications and name the pros and cons of a specific product. Customer reviews can give you a good idea on how the software works in day-to-day use and if it does everything it is supposed to do correctly. You should also make sure the software can do everything that the product description claims it can do.

Alex Sutton has worked in the IP Cameras industry for nearly 11 years. IP cameras are cameras that are hooked up to a network that allows them to be monitored over the internet from any computer. If you already have a good modem, router, monitor, and computer, you do not have to buy a lot of extra equipment for IP cameras. You can get IP cameras that hook up to a network through an Ethernet cord, or you can get wireless IP cameras that hook up to a wireless router without needing any cords. Wireless cameras cause less clutter, are easy to install, and can be placed farther away than Ethernet IP cameras. All you have to do is make sure that your camera can pick up your wireless connection from where you place it.

IP cameras that are wireless are great for anybody who wants to set up IP cameras, but they do not want to deal with cords and they want to set up multiple cameras that are not close to the modem or router. Also, you can set up multiple cameras without having to buy a router that can hook up to more cameras with Ethernet cords than the one you already have.

There is a very large variety of wireless IP cameras available that come with different capabilities and features. The price of a wireless camera depends on its quality and features. If the camera has more features, like audio and infrared capabilities, it will usually be more expensive. There are a lot of features available that you should consider when you are shopping for these cameras, but you also need to focus on the basics. You need to make sure the camera has good wireless capabilities and can be placed a decent distance away from the router and still work. You should also make sure that the camera offers good video quality and is easy to install. You also have to make sure that the camera is compatible with your computer's system. If a camera has all of the basic requirements, then deciding if you want it depends on its other features and price. If you are looking at a camera that has features that you do not really need, you can probably find a cheaper camera with all the essential features you need and nothing you do not need.

Alex Sutton has worked in the IP Cameras industry for nearly 11 years. You can get a variety of IP cameras with different features and capabilities, and that includes wireless IP cameras and Ethernet IP cameras. The difference between these two cameras is how they hook up to a network. Wireless models can hook up to a network through a wireless connection, while Ethernet cameras need to hook up to a network through an Ethernet cable.

Ethernet cameras are good options for anybody who does not want to set up a wireless connection, or just wants to install a few cameras that are not that far away from a modem or router. You can even use Ethernet cameras if you want to install an IP camera in another room away from the router or modem. You just have to get a long Ethernet cord and run it to the room where you want to install your camera. This will not always work of course, because some distances are just too long for any Ethernet cord. The price difference between an Ethernet camera and a wireless IP camera really varies depending on the features and quality of the camera, so when you are shopping for IP security cameras, it is really a matter of preference as to whether or not you get an Ethernet camera or a wireless camera.

You can get Ethernet cameras with a variety of features like infrared capabilities for night shooting, audio capabilities, or motion detection. These are just a few of the features you can find when you are shopping for Ethernet cameras. If you want an Ethernet security camera, or you want multiple Ethernet cameras, you can save money by buying Ethernet cameras that do not have a lot of features. You just have to think about what features you will need in your camera, because the more features there are, the more likely the camera is to be expensive.

You can find Ethernet IP cameras at stores that sell computer equipment and at stores that sell surveillance equipment. You can also find them on a variety of websites that sell computers and computer accessories or websites that sell security merchandise. With the wide variety of vendor options you have, you should be able to find a good Ethernet camera that works with your needs and budget. You just have to do research on what is available and look at a variety of vendors to find the best camera for you.

Alex Sutton has worked in the IP Cameras industry for nearly 11 years.
