Some possible side effects include hives, rash, wheezing, a decrease in urine production, kidney damage, jaundice, and trouble breathing. Alclometasone vs. Clobetasol

Alclometasone and clobetasol are topical steroid ointments used for the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, allergies, and rash. The standard dosage for these ointments is to apply a thin layer to the affected skin twice daily. Alclometasone may be applied three times daily.

Psoriasis is a hyperproliferative skin disorder. It commonly causes red scaly plaques to appear on the skin. The scaly patches are areas of excessive skin production and inflammation. Skin rapidly accumulates at these sites and takes a silvery-white appearance. Factors thought to aggravate psoriasis include stress, excessive alcohol consumption and smoking.

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a form of arthritic joint disease associated with the chronic skin scaling and fingernail changes seen in psoriasis. Like other forms of arthritis, PsA causes pain, stiffness and swelling in and around the joints. The degree of joint pain ranges from mild to severe, and the signs and symptoms often change as the disease progresses.

Psoriasis and Inflammation

Psoriasis may cause inflammation of the skin, and can also cause joint inflammation. Psoriasis causes red scaly plaques to appear on the skin. In patients with psoriasis, the process of skin shedding speeds up and new skin cells move rapidly to the surface before they have properly matured. This process can often cause inflammation as there is a build-up of white blood cells under the skin.

Inflammation is the body's response to stress and psoriasis is often linked to systemic inflammation.
About 15 percent of people with psoriasis also have joint inflammation that produces arthritis symptoms.
Psoriatic arthritis is a rheumatoid-like arthritic condition characterized by pain and swelling (inflammation) of the joints (arthritis) that generally occurs in association with scaly plaques of the skin (psoriasis).
