It didn't even get to the third episode and ABC has already cancelled its new show "Work It." According to Zap2It.com, the ratings were not that great. But was it just poor ratings that took down this cross-dressing comedy or did the backlash from angry Latino viewers do the job?

Well, the power of the viewer is alive and well. Whether they prove it by not turning to a <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/WiseLatinasLinked/~4/EkovdBC34uI" height="1" width="1"/>

ABC's New Show "Work It" Doesn't Work For Puerto Ricans

Not long ago, I blogged about ABC creating a show
called “Devious Maids.” It’s supposed to be about a bunch of Mexican maids who
work for rich white people in Beverly Hills.

I’m not sure when this show will start airing on television, but it bothered me that Latinas were being stereotyped as maids. I guess ABC doesn't see us as lawyers, reporters, business owners, doctors or <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/WiseLatinasLinked/~4/Rl9eFD5xKmI" height="1" width="1"/>

2012: Focus on Environment, Education & Empowerment

Just when you thought you’ve seen everything on television that stereotypes Latinas; here comes another TV show that is going to top the list. ABC is coming out with Devious Maids.

Now take a wild guess on who gets to play the maids? Well of course---Latinas.

Oh and they’re not going to be working in some kind of Midwest, middle class town. It was extended
to a month in 1988. Now it runs from September 15-October 15.

Two years ago, I was watching television as several Republican U.S. Senators beat up on Judge Sonia Sotomayor. It all took place at her confirmation hearings for the U.S. Supreme Court. They were broadcast on CNN.

I sat in front of my laptop computer in the kitchen, just fuming as they criticized her for everything she had accomplished and said in her past.

Latinas, you were heard LOUD and CLEAR. Adweek reports that Wednesday (July 27) Summer’s Eve pulled three videos from its website and YouTube.

You may recall that last week, I blogged about the “vagina” commercials that the feminine hygiene product company had rolled out to attract Latina consumers.

Wise Latinas we’re closing out another decade, and starting a new one in 2011. This is also the time of year that many of us think of New Year’s resolutions.

According to a study, about 45% of American adults make one or more resolutions every year.
And what are the top resolutions?

1. Lose weight
2. Exercise
3. Stop smoking

Most people eventually break their new year’s resolutions, but <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/WiseLatinasLinked/~4/EuDlKFsZmwE" height="1" width="1"/>

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WiseLatinasLinked/~3/EuDlKFsZmwE/wise-latinas-ready-for-2011-well-theres.html" title="Wise Latinas ready for 2011?
