Is it a concluded matter that there’s no God?

Considering that more and more people today accept as solid fact that there is no God you will be forgiven for not giving the topic much thought. From education to science fiction, and everything in between, it’s supposed to be a concluded matter but is it really?

And why should any of this matter to me?

Cellular nanotechnology & The naturally occurring iPhone

The staggering complexity of a single human cell — essentially hyper-advanced nanotechnology — makes spontaneous creation as impossible as a bunch of rare earth minerals self-assembling into an iPhone by accident. This reality creates an insurmountable logical barrier to believing the universe arose spontaneously.

Consider the offense you’d feel if in future, alien archaeologists discovering a working iPhone 15 dismissed it as a naturally occurring object. Imagine they confidently declared it wasn’t created by intelligent and conscious beings. How much greater must be the Creator’s insult when we attribute His meticulously tuned universe — with its precisely balanced laws, elemental ratios, and cosmic choreography — to mindless chance?

The struggle then isn’t logical but emotional: accepting the truth of God requires humble acceptance of our subordination to His will and power, as we didn’t create ourselves. While the question of God’s goodness in the face of death, disease and destruction seems a stumbling block for those not fully atheistic, we can continue this dialogue without needing all answers upfront.

Quantum Physics & Love

Just as we function in a universe enabled by quantum physics without fully understanding it, we can believe in and personally relate with our Creator without having all the answers of life. Love, despite lacking scientific measurement, has universal effects like quantum mechanics because God, who created the universe with laws that affect everything in it, put the ability to love and feel loved in us all as a reflection of His own nature. He personally demonstrated that love through Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Colossians 2:9 – For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.

Colossians 1:19-22 – For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.

But why Jesus Christ, and not Buddha, Muhammad, Mithras, etc?

The Bible uniquely centers on Jesus Christ in the God-Human story — the only example of a Creator who, out of love, sacrificially takes on the nature of the created to save them. Notably, major religions after Christ validate Him to various degrees to gain credibility, while Jesus Himself neither acknowledged any predecessors nor foretold any successors.

John 14:6 – Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

If you have read this far, something within you is searching for a real and deep connection to your Creator. That search will bear fruit today as you pray this prayer:

Dear God, I see now that You are real and deserve to be known. I’m sorry it has taken me this long. Please help me to know You and know more about You. I’m coming to You humbly and with an open heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The majesty of God is such that in creation both the earth and the sea, earlier created in the process were commanded to produce life of all sorts, animals and plant life.

It is instructive that the food and habitat of plants, animals and all organisms where already waiting before they were made.

No organism had to wait for some time before their food or home and supporting ecosystem would be ready.

Again the fact is that organisms of all types were made – in such a vast array. Animals that look and act like plants and plants that look and act like animals. Animals that live and feed on plants and plants that live and feed on animals. A complex and interdependent tapestry of life that requires all member organisms to be immediately present for the ecosystem to be balanced and not fail from the onset!

It all speaks of purpose and point to an intelligent design – something atheists insist have nothing to do with life as we know it.

Romans 1
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,
25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

I was reading while reclined against the side of my bed and my year-old son was lolling around on the bed and moved to the edge and fell off, right into my arm which I had ready by the bed as he rolled over.

He wasn’t even aware he was in any danger until I lowered him to the floor and his diapered backside thumped on the floor. He gave off a grunt of pain more in protest of the sudden inconvenience and his mother also watching the event laughed at him that he was ‘making that noise because it wasn’t his head that hit the floor’.

I thought how my boy didn’t need to be worried about his safety when his daddy was around and I immediately thought of how that mirrors our relationship with God the Father.

Most times the little stress we go through, however inconvenient, is only the much we could possibly fathom of the myriad of issues God the Father is taking care of about and around us. My baby boy for example cannot possibly know what it takes to give him a home, clean clothes, baby food and so on. All he is concerned about is expecting to be fed when hungry and cleaned up when necessary, among other daily needs.

We have the tendency to ask why God will allow us experience any pain or discomfort but how many horrors “pass us over” on a daily basis? How many expensive blessings (clean water, safety, peace, etc?) have we become accustomed to receiving regularly? How many reasons for laughter have we taken for granted?

Most times we are so bothered by present needs and we go from one need or want to the next with scarcely any time to look beyond our noses. My son for example knows when he’s hungry to cry and make a fuss until he’s fed and right after he’s fed he’s up and about the very next interest. I, on the other hand as his father have to worry about his next meal for the next couple of decades, schooling, housing and much more! This is just a fraction of what God the Father is doing for us and He is a far more capable and powerful Father and Provider than I could ever be to my son!

Think about this for a while…

Luke 6
22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

27 “Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

My son doesn’t need to worry about life or what it brings his way as long as his father is alive. We however have a Father who is not only Almighty but also lives forever and never sleeps!

Child of God, God is your Father, it’s OK to allow yourself be the child.

Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

Is alcohol bad/forbidden?

As a child of God I wasn’t sure that beer/wine/alcohol was forbidden or bad for a Christian as long as it was taken in small quantities and not drunk to stupor.

I wasn’t sure so I decided to ask God to show me where (if any) in the Bible I’m told not to take strong drink.

He responded by showing me:

Proverbs 31:4-7 GNT
Listen, Lemuel. Kings should not drink wine or have a craving for alcohol. When they drink, they forget the laws and ignore the rights of people in need. Alcohol is for people who are dying, for those who are in misery. Let them drink and forget their poverty and unhappiness.

Proverbs 31:4-7 NKJV
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, It is not for kings to drink wine, Nor for princes intoxicating drink; Lest they drink and forget the law, And pervert the justice of all the afflicted. Give strong drink to him who is perishing, And wine to those who are bitter of heart. Let him drink and forget his poverty, And remember his misery no more.

Now if you’re saying well I’m not a king, remember that as a child of the King of kings you’re an heir and born to rule.

If that is still not clear enough for you, notice that the passage names two sets of people. On one side you have those forbidden from strong drink called ‘kings, princes’ and on the other side those allowed/encouraged to drink called ‘dying, oppressed, miserable, poor’.

It’s left to you to chose the group you admire the most and join them.

There was once an aristocratic family, very wealthy and powerful they owned great estate and profitable ventures.

There came a time when their holdings became too large for their hired workmen to keep up with the workload so they decided to purchase some slaves.

At the slave market they made their selection of the sturdiest looking stock of both genders and bought as many as they felt necessary. Shackled and led in chains the merchandise was taken back to the estate where the newly-bought slaves were promptly broken into the hard life of labour and servitude their masters desired of them.

Their work was backbreaking and hard just as their taskmasters were unrelenting in cruelty and demands of ever higher workload delivery per slave every day. When the slaves gave birth their children became property of their masters and when old enough were brought into the work field to labour beside their parents morning till evening.

They were dehumanized and stripped of all hope to keep their natures subservient. Denied education and ownership of property they had nothing to aspire to but to remain in the good graces of their masters. Those who showed any desire for more in terms of liberty were brutally put down with hideous beatings and amputation of digits in addition to denial of even the barest of needs like food and water for days. But the slaves began to dream of a day.

Their ordeal continued as generation after generation of slaves served generation after generation of aristocrats whose holdings kept increasing as they encouraged their slaves to have many children. Many slaves meant much productivity which in turn meant much more wealth. But their slaves kept dreaming.

After the slow passage of time and a hundred years of little change in the welfare of the slaves the slaves revolted and took up arms against their masters demanding their rights to life, liberty and property! Their masters overwhelmed by the vehemence of the slaves who now outnumbered their owners 10 to 1 capitulated and agreed to the unprecedented demands.

The now former-slaves were allocated a dreary piece of land right next to their former owner’s and less that one-tenth of its size. This didn’t matter to the former slaves as they were free and could earn wages as free men but the choice of land allotted them was not without guile.

As time passed the generation of the freed men passed on and their children born without any experience of slavery began to come to adolescence. As they played in the land allotted them they would look over the low fence separating them from the land of the aristocrats and they would envy the finely dressed children running around well tended gardens filled with all manner of fruit. They spied at the magnificent buildings not too distant and different wonders like running water, constant power supply and sleek automobiles.

They were sorely tempted but the stories of the horrors their parents endured as slaves still rang in their heads so they contented themselves on their miserable lot in life. To them it was better to be a poor freeman than to be a rich slave.

They soon became adults and children were born to them. Children who could see the discrepancy between their poor existence and the opulent life of their neighbours. Children who wanted the best in life and didn’t mind offering up themselves to have a little of the good life.

Once old enough several of them jumped over the fence and begged the aristocrats to take them in as servants. All they wanted was the right to claim to be from the aristocratic side of the land even if their pay was poor and they were to live in the squalid boy’s quarters. They even wished that their own children will inherit those same rights for the same wages as they now sought. When asked by the head of the aristocrats why they were signing up for a life slavery and leaving the life of liberty their ancestors fought for, they answered that the life of poverty they were running from was worse than any enslavement.

The descendants of the slaves returned willingly to serve the descendants of the men who enslaved their fathers and today believe they have a better lot in life. They enthusiastically work at demeaning jobs they refuse to take up in their own land for less pay than other free men would accept.

Now can you tell:
Who were the slaves?
Who are the aristocrats?
Who are the volunteer servants?
What is the low fence?
Where is the dreary land allotted the slaves?

The Purpose-driven life is the only life worth living

Lets start by a little test: name one thing in nature that has no discovered application or stated use.
I mean name one thing on earth not made by man that has not been found to have a function or purpose.

I believe you have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing. This should give the atheists something to chew on. What are the odds that every single thing on earth has a use/purpose?! Well it stands to reason that you as a human being, should have a definite purpose being the highly intelligent and capable being you are. Even the Bible puts it clearly that:

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

2 Tim 1:9 who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,

Another Scripture tells us about Jeremiah’s purpose:

Jer 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Having digested the fact that you are here for a reason, a particular purpose, lets use the quoted verses as our foundation going forward. You will understand that you are:

i. God’s workmanship meaning you are God’s product
ii. Made for a purpose determined by Him BEFORE you were born

We can conclude from the previous that as a product you are useful to your Owner/Maker and thus successful only to the extent that He’s able to use you for His purpose. Like in the case of Jeremiah, God is constantly evaluating us against our assignment on Earth.

Suddenly what the world calls success is blatant failure for anyone who attains fame, wealth or power without fulfilling the intention of the Creator!

Take a look at your mobile phone, its purpose is to enable you communicate via phone calls, text and data. It may also take pictures and play media but without CONSISTENTLY fulfilling its primary purpose as a communication device, it’s going to be discarded quite soon. If that phone for any reason stops sending and receiving calls and messages, that phone is liable to be replaced soon.

When the battery of your phone goes low, you hasten to charge it only because its working, only because IT IS USEFUL TO YOU. You surely wont bother to charge a phone that doesn’t work, right? Now why should God sustain your life when you are not functioning according to His purpose? What is beholden on God to sustain power supply in a product that has never worked and shows no sign it’ll work?

When your phone develops a fault you do whatever you can to fix it with the hope that it will resume its work of facilitating your communications, right? Shouldn’t God be committed only to heal and rescue the product which is already functioning according to design?

If the cost of the fix in terms of time, effort and money gets equivalent to that of getting a new phone wont you rather replace it even if the replacement is not as powerful? Why should God hold up His plans indefinitely while you procrastinate endlessly in accepting His corrections and instructions?

That’s the dangerous situation MOST of humanity is in right now. We know He made us but we don’t want to do His will or obey Him. We are useless to Him yet we want His blessings and favour to reach us before anyone else. Almost all of us are very busy doing our own thing and yet expect the Creator Who is deriving no joy/use from His products to shower us with abundant wealth, health and benevolence. And we believe ourselves to be intelligent!

Why should God sustain your health when you are nonfunctional product?
Why should God bless you when you chose to pursue only your own agenda?
Why should you find enjoyment living a life in which your Creator finds no enjoyment?

Lets compare the lives and choices of two men called by God for similar assignments. Jonah was a prophet of God and Paul was an apostle of Christ. They were separated by about a thousand years but each one found himself in a ship about to capsize. While Jonah was on his voyage in direct disobedience to God, Paul was on his voyage as a result of his obedience to God.

Jonah 1:11-12 Then they said to him, “What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?” For the sea grew more and more tempestuous. He said to them, “Pick me up and hurl me into the sea; then the sea will quiet down for you, for I know it is because of me that this great tempest has come upon you.”

Acts 27:21-24 Since they had been without food for a long time, Paul stood up among them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me and not have set sail from Crete and incurred this injury and loss. Yet now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For this very night there stood before me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, and he said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. And behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you. ‘

You can clearly see the risk of living as (or staying with) a person who is in disobedience to God, the lives of Jonah’s shipmates were at risk just because he was on board that ship. Meanwhile the lives of Paul’s shipmates were saved only because he was on the same ship with them. How many catastrophes would have been averted on Earth if there was someone in obedient relationship with God among the victims? How many disasters have occurred on Earth for the simple reason that no one among the victims was in obedient relationship with God?

Deut 8:20 Like the nations that the Lord makes to perish before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God.

Josh 22:20 Did not Achan the son of Zerah break faith in the matter of the devoted things, and wrath fell upon all the congregation of Israel? And he did not perish alone for his iniquity. ‘”

How can you know who in that bus, train, ship or aircraft with you that will bring calamity your way because he/she is living in rebellion to God? Wouldn’t it be great if everywhere you went there was someone on board whose obedient life towards God confers on you immunity from destruction?

What if YOU ARE THAT PERSON? Wouldn’t it take away a lot of fear and uncertainty about your life? Imagine that from now everywhere you went you knew that the journey would ultimately end with you safe and alive. Imagine that you are the umbrella of preservation for everyone around you because you are living in obedience to the will of God. That’ll be great right?

The only reason God sustains a life that is in rebellion to Him and disobeys Him at will is to give it a chance to repent and be reconciled with Him. If He wanted robots He would have made us as such (see how man has been able to create computers that do just our bidding?) but he wanted beings that CHOOSE to be like Him in all things. Like children that imitate their loving father.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

The natural mind wants to have its way, that is a fact. See how little children try to impose their desire/will on those around them even on adults? Everyone want to do things and have everything on their own terms. So how easy/possible is it to really bow one’s will to an unseen God?

Simple:

1. Realize that you didn’t make yourself and no spontaneous event could produce something as complex, beautiful, powerful and complete as you.
2. Admit you don’t know where you came from, why you are here and where you are going to.
3. Accept that Someone made you and knows your origin, purpose and destination.
4. Resign yourself to the fact that the best life you can live as a product is the life predetermined by your Maker (imagine trying to eat with a shovel, or doing the work of a shovel with a spoon).
5. Remember the fact that your Maker can replace you with another product to do what you were designed to do if you give Him enough reasons to.

The only ability God requires of you is availability
– Chukwuka Amamchukwu

You may ask: ‘what of noble achievements like getting educated, finding and settling with a spouse, having and raising children, influencing others for social good’? They all sound like purpose until you critically look at all of them and notice that animals do all of that quite well. A pride of lions trains its young, finds and provides food for all members, combine forces for defense and attack and so on. Don’t you know of birds that find and settle with their mates for life, build nests and raise young together? If all you achieve in life falls within these goals then you have not done anything truly unique that can be termed ‘purpose’.

You can do all of that and still be written off as a failed life before God who made you. In fact your real assignment may not even require the labour you expend on your personal ambitions. Please remember that it is IN CHRIST JESUS that your good works count. So anything ‘good’ achieved outside Christ is at best going to elicit the applause of men as your task/assignment checklist will not receive a new check mark of progress.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

SO WHAT NOW?
You must be found in Christ Jesus. In Him you receive God’s forgiveness from every rebellion and sin you have committed and get empowered to fulfill your purpose on Earth.

Rom 5:17-19 For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.

2 Cor 5:14-15 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this:that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Rom 8:28-29 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

You are reading this message because I have aligned my life to be subject to the will of my Creator. He created me to be an evangelist/preacher but after living in sin and rebellion and finding that I was out of sync I repented and began to ask for Him to lead me into His purpose for my life. He has done just that. If this message has touched something in you then you have my story as another proof that a product is most effective in its predetermined function.

If you are ready to start off on your own purpose-driven life, begin by saying this prayer from your heart:

Lord Jesus, I have heard and received Your word.
I have missed my way and walked in rebellion and error.
Lord Jesus, help me. Lord Jesus forgive me and have mercy on me.
I now repent and chose to live according to the will of God for my life.
Cleanse me from my sins by Your blood and make me a child of God.
Let the power of sin be destroyed completely in my life!
Give me Your wisdom and grace to walk in obedience from today.
I ask You in Your precious name. Thank You and Amen!

THAT’S IT?
No,

1. You must be baptized (infant baptism doesn’t replace this)

Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

2. You must locate and engage yourself in an active church near you that has the three cardinal aspects of the Christian life in right proportion, that is:
i. Reading and teaching of Scripture
ii. Prayer
iii. Praise and worship

3. You need the baptism of the Holy Spirit that empowers you to locate AND fulfill your purpose.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

4. You must continue in this new way of life (you knew this is a lifetime commitment right?) even when not popular.

1 Peter 4:12-19 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And
“If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”
Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.
