We stare and gaze, as if the moon is going to tell us something, reveal some secret, but, it's the comfort, of being there for us. What does it mean? What does it mean to you? Good things happen when there is a full moon, yaya, babes are born, but what else? We are all looking for something. We all live in this crazy, nonstop, moving world. We don't stop, it's the lives we lead, mortal or not. We have traditions, some more formal, but sometimes we need to take a breather and take five, better make it ten or twenty. Exactly the case just the other night, I picked up my mom after work, and attempted to get to the city to pick up my darling Abagail and bring her home for the weekend. The whole ride was rush, rush, rush, oh the traffic, makes your hair grey, yaya, get me another Starbuckaroos, no, no decaf for me. But, on the way home, the moon was so spectacular in the sky, every one's mood changed, even mine, amazing.

I knew it was going to be a full moon, I am a witch, daa, mom, too. But I couldn't keep my eyes off of it as it seemed to follow me on the ride home, I was hypnotized. My mom, likewise was commenting on it, it looked, 'like a harvest moon' so yellow in the sky. Larabee called my mom, to tell her to look at the moon, even little Devin, had something to say about the moon, and she usually skips related subjects. Abagail had to talk to Larabee about the moon, the ride home was all about the gorgeous moon.

The moon gives off good energy, we have to take that energy, and use it wisely. We are all very smart, when we want something, we are persistent. Listen to reason dear, but be persistent. Patience may be another story. You have to remember to give back, or else it is like Cinderella at the stroke of midnight, you take more than you bargained for. Karma comes back, always will, like the moon, like your traditions and bounds. Hold on tight to those near, they come full circle, love, it's up to us, you get what you give, huh, can't miss that moon.

Sleep well, fly free, be safe, love.

PS April 25th, a beautiful night xoxo

It's the weather. The longest winter continues, then you think it could be spring. Could that be Spring, knocking at your door, or is it summer? The mercury was reaching up near eighty degrees on the East Coast, while snow is still blowing like crazy on the other side of the country, crazy huh? Test runs, or tease? You're sweating, is it the heat, stress, or can you blame it on something else? And the next day, you're reaching for your winter coat, again, yaya, that's April...

And then April holds you accountable, oh please, REALLY. Yes, yaya, no kidding, dearie, dude, mama, no joke, that was April 1st. No excuses, no hocus pocus, April 15th comes every year, a Black day for every one, no matter the day, we attempt to push it off, delay and delay, but when it's here, boom! No hiding, doomsday! Yuck! And do we have to answer to someone, someone else? Ok maybe a higher power, but Big Brother? Life of death and taxes? Who said that? There has to be more on the menu than that, I'm looking for an outrageous dessert to share, not a poisonous apple, and not with my Uncle Sam. Do your duty, sign away, heck, have a toast, make sure you stamp it, boots on, all the way to the P. O., at least we're on the plus side, dearie.

Lastly, April is the target month. Everyone has to be aware, unless you have been under a rock, or live in your own little fantasy world, oh yeah, I know a few dreamers, they will n--ever wake up. April should be the month we appreciate what we have, we stop and look, take a moment, and say thank you. In short we all work hard, whether we have a 'job' or not. April, I'm not sure why you test us? But it is up to us, all of us, to stay strong, keep believing, look for those blue skies, warm hearts, make the best of every day, and remember, with April showers, come May flowers. Soon April will fly away…get your broom out, joy riding.
Life is not a coincidence, dearie. That signal, a red flag, to stop, reexamine, and change channels, perhaps your broom was picking up too much speed, those "Supercharger's" do it all the time, Jemini can attest to that. But, slowing down the pace, and switching gears can be a very good thing, yaya, skid under the radar, hide out for a few, pull that hat down, heck put your sunglasses on, designer or not, total incognito, do what you have to, put your time on the table, whatever is so terribly urgent, can get done next week, remember yourself, remember someone who loves you…Holidays come, yaya, timing is no coincidence.

Last night, I flew in, totally under the radar, with my daughter, to my favorite place. Appreciating the serenity, beauty, peace, our connection, and what a 'coincidence,' on a full moon. The earth was truly glowing. I felt the energy, the warmth, the vibration, do you hear me? I know you have been here, been there, done it. And for me, no matter how old my girl may be, she will always be my little witch, so I will take time whenever I can, live, love, laugh, fly!
I know, I have said this before, but I cannot stress this enough, you have to believe so hard, that it becomes part of you, your nature, it overcomes you, yaya, it grows like "Ivy." Witches, believe in what we love, what we want, and what we create. We take our strength and become so passionate, we are head strong, that's why we need those pointy hats. We believe so hard, we are driven, our dreams take over, they become us. We can't stop thinking, breathing, living every moment, until we find our true power. And then, we keep reaching, striving for more, not that we are not satisfied, no, we feel we have the gift, the magic, the power. We are survivors first and foremost, we can do what ever we set our hearts on, whether it be love and children or business. Keep at it, never give up, nothing is impossible, Glenda believed in the Great Oz, who didn't have faith in himself.

We Witches are a strong group, we can truly run the world, from contractors to doctors to designers to writers to "great design bakers" to lawyers to dignitaries to the greatest moms and negotiators, who never tire and always roll with the punches and can come back strong and keep smiling, ok maybe with a few, (no not tricks, we're not magicians, silly), up our sleeves, and a pinch of this and a shot of that, but whose counting? These days, it's all about the 'extras'…just stay on track and keep believing dearie, soon your broom will take you where you want to go.

Insinuating,
Witches are Evil
All witches are pissed off
Broken Angels are Witches
Witches, all have a vengeance
You can't ride a broom and be 'happy'
No joy riding here
No fun, being a Witch
All women are Angels? Really?
I think this is giving the broom, a bad rap…

An Angels' Wings can never be broken, they are well protected, and well built, maybe by a manufacturer better than John Deere. Perhaps, the author is not speaking of angels, but of mere mortals, so good. Many mortals, may be innocent, even angelic, and easily crushed, and how quickly they turn into little demons, huh, I suppose children get lessons, and mimic. However, to put these mortals on a broom and compare them to a Witch, is totally not fair, tisk, tisk, need I say, we are Witches of the East, not all green, wicked and from Oz.

And besides, are you mortals, mice or women? Stand up for yourself! Totally preposterous, be strong, go ahead, kick some dirt in their face, so what, if you get a bit soiled? How dare you allow someone to come close to breaking anything, let alone your wings! Fight girls! Remember you get more with honey, spice, and a tad of newt…
It seems many have become, so obsessed? OCD, with the designers and labels. Obviously, somethings matter, the big stuff, you know, big, huge stuff; don't play with me, it had better be real, or you are not making it out my front door, dearie. Materialistic items, well, I don't like to have the wool pulled over my eyes, unless its cashmere, and even then, I hate all those little fuzzies that get stuck on my eyelashes; so, no, nada, you best not mess with this witch. When it comes to peeps, is there anyone out there, who likes a phony? A fake? Hypocrite? We all know about first impression, but don't go overboard, be true to yourself, yaya, shake it off, ya know what I mean? Don't try to impress me with all that mumbo jumbo; hocus pocus, maybe...

Maybe it doesn't matter if the tomato sauce is not so homemade one night, after you had a crazy day, and maybe the three dozen cupcakes for your daughters' birthday aren't homemade, because you completely forgot, and it's a matter of opinion if the local bakery tastes better (and looks better) than what you have time to whip up, (definitely better than moi, hey, at least I'm honest!) So it is really okay, to fudge, spice, add a potion, a spell, a little help here and there, a bit of cosmetics along the way, as long as we keep to the basic fundamentals. I hope you are following me, here. Nothing, and nobody is ever perfect, although so many of us so strive for that ultimate goal, as long as you can keep it, the whole package together, without a total meltdown. But, there are so many other factors, ingredients that go into the mix, the kettle will never come to a full boil without them all, total commitment, integrity, personal courage, and honesty. Yaya dearie, be who you are, don't be afraid of yourself, be real, go for the broom, it matters.

So, are we real? I am as real as my mom, and my daughter who I put on this earth. I am as real as the sun and moon is the sky, most nights. I believe in myself, I believe in karma, I believe in love, I believe in hard work, and I believe in you. And I believe in magic, sounds pretty realistic to me. Any questions?

Witch's Compromise

One day, you would give it all for someone, it's so real, and then it's gone, complete 360, poof! Total Houdini. Is it life? A dream, did you wake up, or did you stop believing? The balls were in the air, one second, and then they are rolling behind a lifeless tree, and you make no effort to pick them up. You can't breathe, your suffocating, the music stopped, even the beautiful player piano. But wait, hold on, not the magic, it never stops, like, the Everlast Bunny, it keeps on going. The magic comes from within, from you, from me. Look in the mirror, beyond your eyes, through the moon deeply hidden, into your soul, we can find that strength, that power to get through our struggles, carry our big sticks, brooms, kettles, use two hands when you need two; and prove to ourselves, lest the world, how mighty we are. Remember, you can grumble all you want, but you, get nothing out of being mad, get over it dearie.

Perhaps our best friends, lovers, whomever, are gone, reason, can't figure it out, and it takes way more than powers to uncover this mystery, maybe James Bond, yaya, hearts are hurting, but they do mend. A little TLC, massage, mani-pedi, new pair of boots, night out with the girls, and extra time with your daughter/family if they don't drive you too loony. Get out the big book, dearie, have a cup of tea, spoonful of xxx and put an umbrella in it, cocktail, whatever you call it and put your feet up.

FYI The more you think about them, the less they think about you, and visca verca, but somewhere in the middle there is a meeting of the minds, a mental connection, mental telepathy, an electrical current, spiritual, let it flow. Let them have their space, relax, light a candle, think about it. Let their minds stew, like my kettle, no potion needed, and in no time they will have ants in their pants.

Now its up to you, brooms are made for flying, boots are made for walking, hard as nails? Like I said, 'get over it,' life is a compromise, my dear...

Witch, It's Almost Thirteen Today

So, it's the end of January, believe it or not, the thirty-first, but it is way more than that. So many peeps can feel it, can't you feel the vibe? Yaya, 1/31/13, a real numbers day, a crazy day, lots of pent of energy. If you are getting the jitters, getting blown away by todays wicked wind, take a deep breathe, look to the sky, click your heels, and go, you have it nothing to be afraid of, least of all, a silly thirteen, a powerful and magical thirteen. Stand up to it, it's not Friday, dearie, your weren't born a black cat, or were you? It's a waning moon tonight, no one will be lurking in shadows as evening falls. Make sure you take care of yourself today, promise you make time for yourself, it will pay forward. My new motto for the year, 'Life is a Witch, and then you Fly.' January 13th, 1/13/13 came and went, good rittens to that, not biggie, haven't we have enough of the "numbers," being practically shoved down our throat, hence 12/12/12 and every other combination? You want numbers, play Lotto my friend. Box cars, have come and gone, they were good, bad and ugly, and uglier, see ya next century and that will be too soon. Many, including moi, are still cleaning up from those ugly twelves, but they make us bigger, better and stronger for the thirteen ahead. And what about the thirteen ahead?

Thirteen is six plus seven; twelve plus one; twenty minus seven; thirteen miles away, and have you ever clocked what is thirteen miles away, you'd be very surprised; a warlocks shoe size; a child's shoe size, wicked, before it changes to a size one. To those of you a bit superstitious, need I go into details??? And to the spiritual followers, thirteen is way beyond coincidence, Good Friday, dearie, check back on prior Friday the Thirteen Posts. This special number can represent the snake, clean and pure, as well as Satan, suffering, death, and murder. It is perhaps the only number that brings anxiety, but it will also brings change as cycles, years, time moves to the unknown, to a new paths, doors, opportunity, experiences.

The Thirteenth Mystery of the Tarot is unnamed. There is always uncertainty, hesitation, just like this year, perhaps because of 2012. We can't live being afraid, weak minded, superstitious to a degree, especially in a year that ends in thirteen. This is about 'you,' the end of something and the beginning of something fabulous, that change, the makeover, revamp, improvement, renewal. Watch out, spells, potions, we just can't help ourselves, witch or not, there is no holding back, time is a wasting, we are better than ever, this year is about YOU! and me. Are you ready?

Ivy, Happy Birthday! She went "Off the Grid!" that's right, it's all about you, this year, way to go! xoxo

Another Friday the 13th…
Happy !3th…Witches
     Norman Vincent Paele

Christmas flew by, waved it's wand, hope you basked in the glory, was it up to all the hype? Somehow I try to believe, yaya, got to keep believing, believe it was, and why not? I may not be exactly giddy, not donning holiday gear, black is black, not green, and not red, but I know when to stop and appreciate the truly important things in life. Not material things, dearie, but when someone takes the time to make the holiday what it really is, shopping, decorating, cooking, baking, setting the most beautiful table, all for the love of the peeps seated there. Isn't it amazing, fantastic, magic? Of course, some should take some pointers, and btw try showing up on time next year. There we are, the table, your circle, remember how you sweep in a circle, sweep away your negative energy, your table is your unity. Dear King Arthur, and those Knights, handsome and Genius, and they were men, well, Warlocks. 'Round Table,' oval, or square, hey anything goes these days, its your power, where your strength, these holidays, no matter what you are celebrating, is reinforced. Anyone seated, who is unappreciated of your hard work, love, no worries, they are hardly draining, they become inexistent, kind of fade out like a bad holiday sweater, you see it, but say to your self, "oh my, what are they thinking?" No sweat, count to ten, everything comes back, it's a round world, let their idle chatter dissolve into tinsel, fly in the breeze with some good pixie dust, and move on to move important matters, the peeps that count most, we're approaching thirteen for good reason.

These last few days I have been watching the last full moon of the year, as it travels in darkness, following us through the night, leading us into the New Year. Anticipation of 2013, and how will you bring in the New Year? More hype? Or a free pass that anything goes on New Year's Eve, while your at it, pass up the nonsense resolutions, buy yourself a good kettle, start brewing some good strong coffee. Thirteen may be "unlucky" but this year, is going to be all abut you, your number one, keep dreaming, keep believing, keep laughing 'until your body shakes, rattles, and rolls your mind clear of 2012.' Relax, you have no control, let your hair down, and take it all in. Happy New Year, 2013, from your friendly witch…xoxo
Six days, witch seems like plenty of time to do so much shopping and whatever else??? That's just it, it is the whatever else, and what exactly is that? Can anyone really put their finger on it? A long time ago, when my daughter was just a peanut, she used to worry, worry about everything, worry about school, worry about me, worry about her friends, her cousins, her relatives, worry about monsters, and everything else in the world. I gave Abagail a pack of worry people, that you place under your pillow at night, and told her, 'no more worrying, they will worry for you.' Maybe that's what we all need, now. If only life could be so easy, monsters still roam along with the rest of the stresses of the world, obviously some way more heavy on shoulders than others.

At some point, we have to come up with a plan, recipe, step by step, putting each problem, incident, incidental, person, complication, situation, function, etc. into some type of perspective, under some livable, reasonable control to find your strength, and remember you must believe in something great, if not yourself. I applaud you, I do not know where many find the power, strength and courage to move forward as you do in today's most difficult situations. Hold on, hand in hand, look to the stars, bright as can be, hear the voices, listen carefully, angels are singing, children, yaya, it is the Holiday Season.

Sometimes, I know its hard, we feel down, but now its time to get it done. You have to make a list, stop dragging those feet, put on your best boots, do your magic, put that kettle on, pull out all the stops, turn on the oven, get out the mixing bowls, you have cookies to make, shopping to get done, the kids, decorating, wrapping, cooking, get dressed and go…time is awaiting, peeps are counting are you, while others will be looking down, smiling. The worry is over, you will get through this, you're not alone. I promise. xoxo

Witch's Prediction of 12/12/12

So, tomorrow is 12/12/12, Wow, what will it be? Take a deep breathe when you wake up, the day is planned, destiny, no coincidence. A day of confidence, success, willfulness, what more do you want? A crystal ball? Meeting someone tomorrow by chance, may spin your head around a bit, but hold on, you can, and will want to handle this one. Like bumping into a blonde witch, don't run for the hills, dearie, no black cat, broken mirror, Godzilla, though I have aged a tad over the years. Face me like your fears, remember that fight or flight? Peeps aren't still afraid of witches, that just silly. Step up to the plate, kettle, say a simple hello, and you'll be surprised, when a certain someone says hello back, huh.

So bat those eyelashes*, apply that lip gloss, show off that personality, leave any pompous attitude at home, get dressed, be a slob on Thursday, go on make the first move, Wednesday is your day. If you're getting married tomorrow, good for you, make sure you have pixie dust under your feet. Maybe you have a Holiday Party, this may be a perfect opportunity, you just never know, throw some pixie dust in your pocket, and take a walk under the Mistletoe. If your fortunate enough to be going to the 12/12/12 concert there are tons of peeps for you to meet, if the tickets were unavailable, watch from the rafters, television, cable, or we will all see it next week.

*Eyelashes, yaya bat them all you can, make them black, and full, wear falsies, get them from the drug store, or where ever you can. They make you gorgeous dearie... xoxo Happy Holidays!!!

Ready to Celebrate 12/12/12 with a Witch?

Here we are, December 1st, let me get off my broom and take a good long breathe in, huh, you too? Has this been a year or what? Twenty, twelve, I said it was the year of the box cars, I said they were rolling in, but I have to admit, I was a bit shy in my forecast, I had no idea they would rock and roll the year the way they did! We started the year recovering from Irene, and here we are ending after just being torchered by Sandy. It is the cycles, no matter where you live, you can't hide, like animals in the forest, and if its not nature, it's life, but there are pleasures, yaya, the good times, we cannot forget. The babies born, the weddings, the graduations, the job promotions, the family get togethers, the sisters and brothers, the mom's and dad's, daughters and sons, the "I love yous" for the first time, the smiles that live in your heart forever, and the holding of the hands that warms your heart on a cold December night, moments like this get us through the down days, of doom and gloom, when all we want to say is 'Bah humbug,' but we don't, we keep our chin up, pots boiling, magic flowing, feeling the throbbing of our heart through our fingers.

In less than two weeks, the year will be approaching a mile stone, 12/12/12, the end of the double digit dates. Surely the hospitals will be packed with babies being born, and many peeps will want to married on that date, for luck? Hey, whatever it takes, I suppose. New York City is hosting a fundraising concert at Madison Square Garden benefiting the Victims of Hurricane Sandy, providing support for the NYC boroughs going forward. Jon Bon Jovi, Alicia Keyes, Bruce Springsteen, Kanye West, and lots more signing up every day. All exactly what that twelve is all about, 'faith.' Twelve signifies all things associated with some higher power, devotion, genuineness of someone or something. Faith that we, New York, you, whomever will get past our difficulties, and keep guiding us through our smooth rides.

Think of all the other twelves, 12 months, 12 daylight hours and 12 nighttime hours, a dozen, 12 inches in a foot, 12 constellations in the Zodiac, 12 Animals of the Chinese Horoscope, 12 face cards in a card deck, 12 people on a jury-hopefully not angry, 12 step program and 12 ribs in a human body. Then there are the more religious and historic twelves, the 12 knights at King Arthurs table, the 12 Apostles, the 12 Sons of Jacob, the 12 Tribes of Israel, the 12 Feasts observed by the Eastern Orthodox, the 12 Days of Christmas, the 12th Night witch is the 12 the Day of Christmas or January 5th, 12 is the age of a Bat Mitzvah Girl, just to name a few. Twelve is big, two dice rolling down the crap table, double sixes, twelve, that's 'box cars.' Once the year rolls out, then what, Thirteen? Black cats, and what? Witches? Goody! So hold on to your beads, power, strength, keep your candles lit. I'll keep the flame glowing, pot, kettle boiling, looking for new, inventive ingredients. Throw some pixie dust on your Christmas Tree, Hanukkah Bush, celebrate 12/12/12, have fun, see you at the concert. Don't listen to the nonsense. Get on board, on a broom, fly, why not? And never, ever, ever, ever lose your faith, dearie.

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WitchesOfBrookville/~3/bTsm-UtfIrg/ready-to-celebrate-121212-with-witch.html" title="Ready to Celebrate 12/12/12 with a Witch? I went in through the side, and then opened the front door into the darkness. As I opened the door, I was a bit startled, as a bat, flew out of the wreath on the door, flying right around my neck and thank goodness, out of my hair, out into the night. Totally catching me off guard, off my broom, I think my heart stopped, forget Black Friday, this will always be Black Saturday in my book. Now I'm thinking, 'what the heck,' did I spit up? I better retrace my steps, did I do something wrong? Whoa, I'm still shaking in my boots…well not really.

I'm thinking and thinking…that was down right weird. Could it be the Threefold Rule, no, no way, I have been so good, truly, one of the good Witches of the East. Perhaps, someone else has it out for me, could it be a Warlock? Never can trust them. Maybe it's a sign. Oh great, something else to worry about, what is coming my way now? My mom always says, "you go to bed worrying about one, and you wake up thinking about the other." For sure, I'll never be able to sleep.

Not at high end shops, naa, no shopping malls, it's the markets, farms, gourmets, super stores that we are jamming, putting together that big bird table. Forget the designers bags, it's the Cosco paper towels we can't get our hands on, unless you have a bit of magic--call me, yaya, you'll have to settle for Bounty this year. It's a movement, a vibe, can you feel it, and what? A light goes off, no not again. Did someone drop a magic wand? Did the kettle boil over? All the bickering has eased, oh joy! Well, hello, it is Thanksgiving, does someone have a brain, genius? Are you a family, or what? Lie down your differences, time to break bread, not wrestle the corn husks.

What started out as a year of double digits, a roll of the dice, that twelve, with so much meaning, faith, love, has seemed to turn into an uphill battle of steam engines. Nothing like loosing your shirt at the crap table, but fear not, the end is near, there is light at the end of the tunnel, the caboose will clear. Keep the faith, don't ask for a miracle, ask for a favor, start small, hey you never know when a box car will come in. Nickel and dime it, someone used to say; and somehow all that loose change adds up to big bills. A pinch here, a peck, a spoonful, a cup, and before you know it, the kettle is boiling…We all know how to get the pot going, even if this is the first time you're cooking the turkey, one way or another it will be get done. Don't sweat it. Take the small favors, no, nada, nope, never a coincidence, its Thanksgiving, take nothing for granted my dear. Take a deep breathe, don't ask questions and enjoy.

What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.
Yaya, a loaded question, indeed. Is there so much? Or not enough? Details, spare them, the spectrum, the gamete, and the others, thankful the year is coming to an end. There is always something, a smile, a love, a sister, brother, parents, children that you can giggle with for hours, a hand you can depend on, maybe that's more than others really have. Throw some pixie dust on your front lawn, and make up your own Thanksgiving Spell, and see what happens. Feel the freedom, the magic, the power you possess. Carry that strength with you throughout the day, and the rest of the year, its yours.

Now keep positive, no 'Debbie Downers,' this holiday, I know it may be hard to keep festive, but no matter where you are, simple table for two or table of twenty, with total holiday spread, course after course, and this one annoys you, and that one is a pain in the neck, but now, now, where would we be without your fam? Probably on a lounge chair in Turqs? Sounds about right? And don't even think about looking up spells and potions to ----- one of the relatives, I'll have nothing to do with it, you are totally on your own, there are plenty of other websites for that.

So for Moi, I'm off to try to figure out what table we will be seated at, with such turmoil, and this one not talking to that one, and that one blabbing about another one, and that one telling that one, blah blah blah, now that one doesn't want to see that one, oh my! Sound familiar? Turqs is looking better and better, close enough*…Remember your strength. Be thankful, Happy Thanksgiving!!
Why just felines? It couldn't just be a specific cat line, i. e. Persian, the actual range, span of "cats" is quite vast, and if we are going to include all "cats" we may as well include all four legged animals, and if we are including all four legged animals, we may as well include all animals, and so on and so on. Why discriminate? Nine lives is nine lives, with or without a potion.

Witches and Warlocks are forever, but what about you, my friend? I bet you have nine lives and you don't even know it, or do you? Maybe its time you start looking that gift horse in the face. How many times has disaster, complications, close calls, near misses, OMG's crossed your path? Those earth shattering moments, some even predictable, child being born, marriages, divorces, and deaths. And then somehow, you, bounce back? It's a miracle? Made it through? Unbelievable? Still standing? Survived the storm, super storm? Time to take a deep breathe, fill your lungs, open the window, the gates are opening, or are they closing, you made it, landed on all fours, on your feet, eyes focused straight ahead, it's a new day, or is it a new Life? Coincidence, never, my dear, if you still believe in mere Chance, go back to your board games. Everything in life happens for a specific reason, start reading the signs, and learn their meaning. Find that strength, be strong, push forward, keep the faith, take nothing for granted, for all will be lost; and love everyday, it's all up to you. You fought the fight, not the flight. My hat's off to you! And if you are at all interested in going beyond nine lives, get a broom. Skip the flying lessons, like I said earlier, "Nine lives, is nine lives."

We Brookville Witches are definitely dog peeps, and wow, bow wow, do they prove time and time again, to have nine lives. Xo

Wicked Wrath of Sandy

What do you call her? A mere storm, hurricane, seems so insignificant, when she causes such havoc, such monumental damage, displacing people, families, taking lives, robbing homes. The force, the power, where does that come from? Why would nature be so destructive? Fierce? Mean? How can those so unfortunate, go on?

The power we need to go on, is not always easy, if we get caught on a bumpy road, with a practical tornado on our tail. Sometimes we are tired, cranky, dirty, hungry, cold, and don't think we can go any further. We have to dig deep and find the strength within us, its there, the power, our magic, to go just a tiny bit, even if it's just finding the strength to holding on to some one's hand and/or hug someone, let alone make it through another day.

Sandy has landed me on my feet, and opened my eyes at bit. I was out during the storm, "Frankenstorm," so massive, loud, beautiful in a way. Power out? Catastrophic measures, off the charts…What we do have, we have got to be thankful for, hold on to those beads, whatever you believe in. Give back, pass it forward, appreciate others, hold on to what you've got, hug those babies, those kiddies, even if their adults, your soulmate, your bwf's, your sista's and brothers, hold your momma's, and daddy's, grammy's and poppy's, and of course your pets, and anything else in your reach, or ring on Ma Bell. Whatever I have suffered is nothing in comparison to what I have seen these past few days. And tonight with the Nor'easter sweeping over us, chilling temperatures, rain, sleet and snow, many will be surely freezing, even if bundled.

So please, think about giving back, think about the people suffering from the Hurricane, surely we can all give something, not everything is monetary, find it in your heart. And yes, maybe we have all missed out this week, Halloween, the NYC Marathon, gas, etc. but this a pinch, a twitch, and a sweep under the rug, in comparison.
Do you sleep at all at night? What is it? Recently I was sleeping away from home, the first night I was out with Abagail, sleeping at the hospital while someone very close was sick. I was walking the halls at night, all was quiet, I waited, nothing. After that, every night back home, quiet was something of the past. Sometimes, it started outside my front yard. As I peered out my window,' was something out there? A wild animal?' Then seconds later, upstairs. I keep a little gate up at night so my doggies stay upstairs at night, and all night it sounds like someone is breaking in. There was howling, and partying, what the heck, fighting, the dogs hear it, they pick up their heads to listen and look, but no barking. I hold on to my little sacred pillow, and clench my beads between my fingers. Do they scare me? They haven't scared him, got to fight, fight, fight, believe, its all about keeping your faith. I wouldn't dare tell Abagail, she knows I hear them, see them, but doesn't want to know the details.

Two nights out of ICU I was waiting at the bedside, and again nothing. Next night, the last night, he is ready to come home, I'm home, party is on. Two days home, partying has calmed down, I guess they are defeated, ahh, too bad!! But now, someone is sitting at the foot of my bed, oh now, two people, dare I say, 'ghosts,' "you have done good, Dixie, yes, you have."Yes, we all did good. I can sleep, finally, well sort of, I am at peace, and so are they. Yaya, we are all at peace, life is moving on, isn't it grand?

But I can still feel peeps praying with me, or am I praying with them, or is it, you? No matter, the vibes are incredible, indulge, enjoy! And now the cauldron is boiling, what's up next? Find two chicken bones, rub them together and see…winds picking up.

Witches and Superman

Sometimes we are celebrating life, having a good day, shooting the breeze, stirring the pot, minding our own business or not, and boom, a shot a lightning hits. How can it be? Did I see that right? Hear it? Where did it come from? Is someone telling us something? Shaking us? Is it a sign? A wake up call? All of a sudden life is different, nothing else matters, total focus, we can't focus, we can't process, but we have to, we don't have a choice. Our stomach hurts, heads' pounding, exhaustion, but no time for us, we carry on. We have to be strong. But why? Maybe, just maybe, we don't always want to be strong. Sometimes, we want to cry, fly away, fly to the moon, and never come back.

Tonight, I just sit outside on my stoop with my doggies, I want it all to go away, but, I have got to be real, I'm a witch, I get a big bowl of pixie dust, some good beads, my wand, a few incidentals on a dark night, moon or not, take in the peace, let the concentration flow, that emotional connection, hands together, and…no takers, help heal, but go back with blessings.

The feeling, the need of touch, the anticipation can be bottled emotions. Life always seems to come full circle, not without bumps, potholes, craters, and dips along the way, not all of them doom and gloom, lots of good times, yaya, good times, we store to quickly recall, doom and gloom--easy to forget and never get us down, we keep pushing, flying. Sweep in a circle, it releases all the negativity, time to bring back those Super Powers, Superman, Girls are you with me? We have learned from the best, we get our strengthen from him, he has incredible power, yaya, that's us, no buckling, chin up, shoulders back Girls, no pouting, ok, maybe a little, we are who we are because of the man of steel, let him yell and scream all he wants, how about a whisper? Kill them with kindness, whatever, we can take it. Hold my hand, know I love you, we all do.
The poor plumber, no matter how attractive and patient he may be, would be here for days, and then the explanation. Well, once you decide on disposing the contents, it needs a good washing out, best to use rubber gloves, I bet you're not surprised.

Lots going on this week, celebrating life, and a remembrance and birthday celebrations, centuries for two very special women, mothers, grandmothers, so very different, each affecting so many lives in their own way, whether looking up to the butterflies or remembering to enjoy everyday, it's an emotional connection, a bound. A connection, yaya, that you can feel, a presence, no, nada, you cannot touch, well maybe sometimes; we need it, yearn for it, to complete us. It gives us strength, structure, balance, of course happiness, delight. One ounce will fuel us for miles and miles and miles and miles. Emotional connections may not always be from the opposite sex or soul mate, oh what a surprise, Poof! Although there are peeps, couples that are happy, really, if so, click your heels three times. Many of us also are connected emotionally with our children, family, friends, nature, pets, faith, kettle, and the other side. The more positively, emotionally united and intertwined you are, the more emotionally stable and balanced you are, the more peeps will be attracted to you. Be thankful for those you have, remember take nothing for granted, time is a moment. Look around, take it all in, life is what we make it, believe, smile, make it a good day, start fresh, keep calm and carry a wand...

Yaya, fresh clean kettle, I'll start with some water from the spring, no spring by you? I trust your judgement, you're leading the day…extend a hand, you never know, where it may lead and who may need to grab it.

Old Time Witches

There are demons, ghosts, spirits and of course witches and warlocks that never change, resist change, they keep to the old ways. No matter how we try to move on, you just can't seem to break them from their ways. Young, old and in between, they are the "old timers." Not that they are totally evil, but cross their path, betray them, and beware for sure! Somehow an eye for an eye falls under Threefold Law in their Book.

So, sometimes in life, life does not exactly go as planned, best laid plans, always backfire, kettle overflows, you throw in one extra ingredient, you try to do one more thing before you leave the house, you strive for perfection, or you don't, and no dearie, it never happens, you want to win or just finish the race, get there on time, by a certain time, settle for second place, you thought you were the one, he broke your heart, but no, nada, you push him over the edge--he said, can you walk away from it all, with a little grumble and blow off some steam under your hat? For most of us, modern day witches, we say, we can live with it. So drop off a bit of sea salt, seal off the house, oops, that's not so bad, it's not "technically" a spell, is it?

Then there are the vampires that never get enough. You are trying to be nice, good, giving, and they take, take, take, bleed you. Wake up! Kick them to the curb! Whack them with your broom, you're not helping them, you're creating bigger monsters. Blood banks are closed.

Thank the good, the gods, goddesses, souls, spirits, angels watching over. Good witches, and warlocks, ok, ok, for the good in the world, those who go the extra mile, lend a helping hand, smile, say thank you, please, and throw some extra pixie dust when we need it most…and pick up the pieces of the old timers, we still got each others back, believe, strength in numbers, young, old and in between…And where do we get it from?

If you keep your faith strong, keep believing, praying, reaching, it will always be there for you. Never, ever, ever, ever give up on faith, hope, love and yourself. If you believe in yourself, stay true, work hard, there is no one to disappoint you, but yourself. Others will follow, leaders lead, they quickly learn how to fly…But then how deep is your power and your beliefs? Aren't they part of your faith? And your day to day waking, breathing, living, moment to moment, this is the "Real Me," touching on your devotion, your supernatural being, what you attach and connect yourself to? Believing in yourself can be a great power. Finding the strength deep inside your heart to get through the day, for instance, to simply get out of bed, and not retreat back after breakfast. To go to work and school with enthusiasm and productive energy, taking care of children, elderly parents, and completing more complex and difficult goals, problems with ease, i.e. work, family, world, physical, etc., without the usual doom and gloom, oh please.

Some faiths seek aid from a higher power. However, a power can be in many forms. As long as you really believe in yourself and what you stand for. Your heart will tell your mind what it can do. Believe in the power of the kettle, the spell, the potion, the broom, your sister, your brother, your soul mate, trust yourself, the moon and the stars, the power in your heart and mind, and the power of the great almighty, depending on the situation, and the individual, you pick yours, one or multiple. Where to start? Start with your heart, listen, it will lead you, be patient.

Yaya, it is spiritual, but it must, must, must be positive, here, or hey there, you are heading in the wrong direction, turn that broom around. Remember the Threefold Rule, it always comes back to you, no fooling, no ducking, I don't care who you are, or who you think you are, what ever you are sending out, best it be good stuff, take my advice, a good witch tip. If by chance you're thinking something else, something evil, negative, hey, you are on the wrong blog, this is no cult, there are no strings here, no set rules, maybe boots and hats, but we are not hung up, just looking for the goodness of life, some peace, and good ole faith. Yaya, we live it, breathe it, follow it, but it is not obsessive, it is a way of life. When I pray, and pray, and pray, whip up a little potion, spell, then what? Is the prayer answered? Did the potion work? Was that a great spell? Or am I, a believer? Yaya, you got it. Can you live with that? Call it what you witch, wish. You can call me a witch, I believe…so can you.

New York Public Schools, just had to open, what the urgency was, I will never live to know. I received texts from my sister, of her children off to their first day, and calls from another with the details of packing up, children moaning why oh why, but it is reality, up and down, the beginning and end, the good and the bad, the light at the end of the tunnel.

And for me, and I'm sure for a lot of you, it is something completely different, a whole new mix; a new potion, a new spell, a brand new cauldron, I wouldn't even call it a kettle. Your little witch, warlock, son, daughter, left for college, broke your heart, and your whole life has changed. There is no one to wake up at six am, no rush to the deli for breakfast, and then on to make the school bus. I don't have to worry about after school sports, chorus, or any after school activity and fighting the rush hour traffic, to make the pick up, on time. No worries about them driving around, where, and with who in the car, for the time being. There is no running through the house this afternoon, no moaning about the school supplies list, no, I don't have to go to Staples. I don't have to worry about figuring out, and whipping up the perfect dinner, that she probably will not eat anyway. There aren't one to three to five to eight to ten friends calling, stopping by, prancing through your house, all hours of the day. And the house will stay just as quiet and clean, all night, and tomorrow and the day after and so on, and so on, and so on. The nest is empty, yaya, it is bare, single mom, or dad, only child syndrome.

I will wait for her call, texts, go visit whenever I can, and rejoice when she wants to come home for a night or two. Honestly, I don't mind doing her laundry, I'm happy to help her any way I can, realistically, I can do magic, but I can't do back flips. She is on to a new life, so exciting, so new. An opportunity with so many doors to open, so much magic surrounding her, this is the time of her life, she is just beginning to fly…within the given state of course, maybe two boroughs, crystal ball is like LoJack, every household should have one.

Hold on to your time as long as you can. Love you Sweetie xoxo

Man on the Moon and His Witch

So, I'm flying home tonight after working today, the beginning of the Labor Day Weekend, quite ironic, yaya, thinking about the summer, how sad when it winds down each year. Anticipating, what tomorrow may bring, and off to my right, I can't miss the orange fireball in the sky. Jemini, had told me about the moon last night, and of course I had to take flight to inspect it for myself. Turned out, last night's moon, was a "Blue Moon." Not 'blue' at all, and nothing to be 'blue' about, just the second full moon of August, some genius decided to call it "Blue," we don't question, whatever...

Tonight as nightfall began, the moon was a beautiful glow, a reflection of the sunset not long before. And before long it was a soft pale yellow on a low horizon. And so full, so round, and a face so distinct, you just want to stop, dead in your tracks, and stare, examine, maybe even question, who could it be, and it is a face at all? Of course, it is soothing, he will follow you home, safely, not a weirdo. He will keep secrets, and never tell. He is a higher power, someone who will always listen, never judge, and you can come back to. He is like your Grandfather, always accepting, tells you, you're the best, no matter what, he's got your back, maybe he doesn't see you all the time, but he is always with you. I had a grandfather just like him.

And now, I'm home sitting outside, looking out, I'm not sure why. Looking for answers, looking for peace, it's so wonderful that Man is there tonight, to say "Good Night." xoxo
