Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Hope your day's were filled with love and relaxation and plenty of yummy food. I spent the evening with one of my besties and her family...thank you guys for having me!! My family was distributed across a few states enjoying yummy food and good company so I went to one of my second families for dinner and company!

DIY Advent Calendar

My godson just turned 3 in October, so I wanted to do something interactive for him for Christmas since he's at the age to understand Christmas and actually enjoy opening gifts. I don't live in the same town as him and his mom, but it's not too far from me. So by doing an advent calendar where he gets to open something each day in December before Christmas means I get to be a little part of his pre-Christmas even without being there! In case you know someone who might enjoy the same thing, it's a pretty quick process and it's actually fun to make!

I used some bags that I got from Michael's a while back and then printed off some decorative numbers on label paper from here.

Cut out each number and label a bag. I did them all interspersed so none of the same patterns were next to one another.

Then, my favorite part...go shopping! I got little toys and gifts and some candy to fill each bag. You can fill them with whatever you want really, but I think he'll like these. Lay them all out so they get a good mix each day.

And then get to packing...

After all of your goodies are packed, grab a hanger and tie the first 6 towards the top. To be honest, it might be easier to start with 24 and work your way to 1 tying them higher and higher.

Then, tie the rest on the hanger until you get the 24th bag in the bottom right corner.

The hanger looked a little out of place to me, so I took a bag, slit the sides, folded it in half, and cut a hole in the middle to fit over the top. It tied the hanger into the whole project.

And ta-da! Now he'll have something to look forward to each day before Christmas!

Lines and Dots.

Did you ever play that game called DOTS with a piece of paper filled with dots in straight lines and you took turns with another person drawing a line between two of the dots each turn. Whoever drew the last line that formed a box got to put their initial in that box and once all the dots were made into line the person with the most initialed boxes would win? Looks a little something like this...

Now that I think about it, it's an extremely simple game. We must've been really bored to resort to drawing lines and it being fun...hahah. But hey, not all lines are boring. Sure, the waiting lines can be boring. I wouldn't know, but I would think the Black Friday lines aren't as boring as a regular line...? The end goal is more exciting, right? So you'd think the line would be more exciting...? yeah?

How about these lines? I don't think these are boring lines. And these pants, don't ya just wanna connect all the dots and claim the box? ;)

Sweater, leather weather.

Yeah, say that five times fast. I don't know about you, but weather has a big affect on my mood and this cold doesn't bring out the best in me, sadly. However, it does bring some really good things out in my closet...take this vintage sweater for example and these faux leather pants. Now rain, that's a different story. Rain is my favorite.

I do believe Fall is my favorite season. It's still sunny, but it feels nice...not too hot and not too cold...what can I say, I'm Goldilocks.

I know it's a different story, but this wall was just too cute. It's belongs to The Colored Egg in Gainesville, GA. They sell baked goods and sandwiches. This painting is on the back wall, so really you wouldn't see it unless you were traipsing around the sidewalk around back! The treasure you can find when you aren't looking, do you know the muffin man? If you do, get him into the whole gluten free thing and maybe I can befriend him ;)

Just a little lingerie…

I found this lingerie teddy a few years back and just came across it the other day while doing inventory. It’s amazing the things I don’t know I have…I should do something where I can’t wear the same thing twice until everything in my closet(s) has been worn…hmm…

Just paired it with a chiffon skirt, a bow belt, and classic black heels. It was a very windy day when taking these so excuse the hair haha.

Do any of y’all watch “Pretty Little Liars”? I used to be an avid watcher, and I always loved Hannah’s fashion sense. Nowadays, I don’t have cable, so I’ll watch it on Netflix and catch up one day. But I made a top a while back that was inspired by one that Hannah wore. It was a little too expensive to buy for my taste (aka $165), so I figured why not make one…?

Btw, the next thing on the list is to make those earrings!!

I double layered the top because the mint green color was a bit see through…

The hem connecting the two fabrics is also asymmetrical, which was a bit tricky.

What do ya think?

I found this skirt several years ago and always meant to sell it. But, I always ended up grabbing it to wear, so it somehow made it's way into my closet rather than the shop closet. It's just a simple skirt, with a tent shape. I tend to wearer it higher on the waist with a crop top or something tied like this polka dotted button down. :)

You all know that I thrift and I usually give you snippets of my finds. But, I thought I'd start to put together my hauls in picture form so you can see what I find and the great deals I get!!

This top will go great with a pair of purple shorts I have!

I wore this to my niece's 1-year birthday party with some ankle skinny jeans and converse. It was very fitting of the occasion. lol.

Got this originally for my mom, but it didn't fit her like she wanted...so I kept it for myself

Gonna end up selling this, it hasn't fit my mom or a friend...thinking it shrunk and it isn't the size it says on the tag :/

These are plastic frames with screw holes at the top...got plans for some sort of DIY that I'll post about in the future :)

Going to put some Christmas lights in this for a simple decoration...

I cannot believe that spring is finally here!! Now, we will get to hear about how hot it is instead of how cold and snowy it is. I do my best to not complain about the weather, you can’t change it so might as well just enjoy it for what it is and move on to the next thing.

I thrifted this skirt several months ago. Then, I found this top at T.J. Maxx for $4 and it just clicked…throw on my neon necklace and belt and it’ll be a neon party!!

I've had these pants for a while and have put different tops with them but it just looked okay in my mind. But, when thrifting the other day I came across this top and it just made perfect sense. The leathers matched just went together perfectly. Ever have that moment shopping when you just think, that should have already been in my closet. It's a must have. It's a given.

Anyone can be pretty, but it's just superficial. It's surface, as Aaron Paul would say. But to be noticeable, that's a different story. In my mind it adds meaning to who you are. It adds depth. To be noticeable, means someone is taking a moment out of their day to notice you, to allow their brain to think of you. Whether it's your actions, your demeanor, your words, or your looks…to be noticeable is to be different, to be out of the ordinary. And to have someone take the time to notice you, well that's just a compliment in most ways.

I love how they take prime advantage of the architecture or the surroundings. Some even make their own surrounding…

This one actually reminds me of a painting I made once for one of my besties. However, this one is just a more life size version.

Do graffiti artists plan out their designs? Or do they just wing it line after line?

Cleavage.

We all know the word cleavage, and what it refers to. Some of us have even heard of toe cleavage. For those that haven’t, it’s when the curve of your shoes around your toes is a little shorter. Which then shows the line between your toes. Hence, toe cleavage.

I don’t really ever show cleavage…it’s a little hard to do when you don’t have much cleavage hah. But I’ve realized lately that there is a new bit of skin that I have a fascination with showing. It’s the ankle flash and J. Crew is actually pretty good at it. Mostly seen with skinny pants or chinos with ankle boots.

What’s you favorite bit of skin to innocently show?

I'm not the biggest fan of Valentine's Day. Maybe because I have always been single on the day, or maybe because I'd rather have the lovingly chosen item on a day when the rest of the world isn't getting the same treatment…I'm selfish like that I guess.

To go with my mood on Valentine's Day, I found some of my favorite Valentine's Day cards.

If I got one of these, it would make me smile or even laugh out loud. But the typical run of the mill cards that are all lovey-dovey are a little past their prime in my opinion. You can only say the same things in the same way so many times. Ya know?

I arrived early to take my test, which is honestly better than arriving late hah so no complaints here. I'm nervous and anxious, as usual with big tests. I tend to look at the worst case scenario and if I can give that silver lining then it's all good...and I have and in the end, it will all be okay.

What's that saying, "In the end it will all be okay, and if it's not, then it isn't the end." I worked hard the past year and a half, harder than I have ever had to. That in itself is an accomplishment. This is the test that I will have to take everything I've learned and try to prove that I'm the nurse that you want taking care of you. (In all honesty, I'm awesome, so you should want me taking care of you even if I don't pass) ;)

But anyhow, deep breaths, encouraging messages from family and friends, and prayers are getting me through today and I love you all for it. You guys are amazing.

Also, I know God is with me today. He gave me this gray and dreary day to calm me. This weather is my favorite and He knows it. So thankful for Him and His ways of showing me that He is with me.

Alright, leh go!!!

I've been MIA the past couple weeks, just figuring out this whole life without school/clinicals thing. So, just in case you want to get in my head a little bit…here's what's going through it at the moment.

Trying to come up with a system of studying for my boards
Registering with all the different people I have to in order to register to take my test in less than a month possibly
Reopening the vintage shop online, hopefully paying some bills
Seeing people I haven't spent time with for several months
Planning a trip to Omaha and Vegas in May, trying to find the best price for flights
Organizing a blog post calendar, and keeping a somewhat schedule for posts
Find some health insurance until work starts
Organize and go through my closet…get rid of some clothes!!
Find a cabin to rent for my birthday weekend
Decide on a haircut to get in a couple weeks
Stop thinking about joining a gym and just do it
Reading actual books that I want to!!
Clean my house, do dishes and laundry
AVOID SHOPPING!!!

So, this is what's in my brain at the moment…a to do list of sorts…

I'm thinking I should substitute some of the things on my list for some of the things on this list

Really want to do 10. hahaha, now to find some joggers in 29degree weather…

It finally happened. #6 on my 101 in 1001 days is officially completed!

All the handwork paid off and I wanted to just say thank you to everyone who stood by me. You listened to my trials and errors, you held me accountable, and you helped me reach my goals and I am so so thankful to you.

Not everyone could make it to Augusta for the day, but Mom and one of my besties from 3rd grade came to support me :)

I don't particularly like to decorate. Or I guess, I don't like to take down decorations.

exhibit a:

In undergrad, my roommates and I left our fake Christmas tree up until June of the next year…now given it was only like 4 feet tall and the decorations were just neon poof balls, so it was year round…so to say…

exhibit b:

We had a halloween party after we moved in, which was about four months later…we got a 10ft black bat (that was made from black trash bags and balloons that filled the body) to decorate. We hung it in the corners of the vault ceilings above the television. I named him Gilbert. He became our 5th roommate. He moved out when we did…2 years later…

Anyhow, last year I got a real tree, which you have to get rid of in a timely fashion…otherwise it just makes a huge mess. This year, I'm debating about doing the same thing or doing something completely different. So to pinterest and google I went for inspiration…

For Fake Trees: I love the white look with bright ornaments!

For Real Trees: I love burlap and white for decorations.

This one caught my attention, but seriously…never gonna happen. It's hard enough trying to put up a Christmas tree the regular way with one person…(thankfully my landlord is amazing and helps with random things like bringing in and putting my Christmas tree in its stand)

Now this, this is me, to a T. I love this, minus the branch wings…

Seeing these totally made me want to create my own version…so here is what I came up with...
