2011 Backlog Part 2: Point Roberts

I quite a bit of photos from Point Roberts that it warranted to have its own post, though backlogged that it is... So I bought these new shoes from eBay and to save some shipping, I sent it to a package receiving service in Point Roberts. It's the first time I'm using this service. It's also the first time I went without my family, though I wasn't by myself for this short trip. There are four points of interest in Point Roberts that had some views and good photo opportunities. So we took'em! Even though I only brought two Pureneemos, I sure took a lot of shots with them, lol. This trip took place on November 10th... The day before Skyrim came out ^^;;;

Here's a behind-the-scene shot :P Navci got two new shoes and shipped it to Point Roberts as well. Kill two overpriced shipping charges with one stone. Check out her photoset from this trip.

First time I've held on to Vivere and got a closer look at him as I waited for the owner to come back from the closed washroom XD So this is a very random shot. His hands are huge!

Later on we had some time before we had to come back, so we head out to Iona Beach in Richmond. Which is basically a walkway that they put on top of a huge pipe that stretches out 4 km into the ocean.

This dark, ominous object was in the background as we walked the whole time... I kept wondering what it was... Seems like a barge.

Finishing up the post with the last two shots where we stopped and decided to come back... Probably about 2.5 km in. The one on top pointed out into the ocean and the one below is back to land.

2011 Backlog Part 1: Dolls and Food

Happy New Year! ...Oh, it's way past that... Err... Happy Lunar New Year? Also a week late... Sigh... It's been so long since I posted anything here. I blame Star Wars: The Old Republic. So my first post of the year is backlog from last year, lol. I've been meaning to post these for a long time, but when you work night shift, you tend to get lazy on some days. I'll try to post as much as possible in between playing SWTOR and other social things ^^; Funny enough when I quit WoW I started blogging... So I sense a trend here XD

Anyway... These photos went all the way back to mid-September until mid-October 2011... Yes, that means I have a lot more after this ^^;;;;; Oh and also a lot of food pictures too for some reason XD

Christmas Doll Meet 2011

Merry Christmas everyone! I thought it would be perfect day for me to post the photos from the Christmas doll meet for this day... Plus I've been lazy and busy playing SW:TOR >.> Compared to last year's Christmas meet, there were a lot more people this year! So we had a much bigger room and a lot more dolls too! I wasn't going to post all the photos here this time to save some time, but I ended up with a lot anyway ^^;;

Chun got lots of new toys too, not the Saber Lion, but the Lion de Pon is new. So cute!

Festival of Lights 2011

In the winter, the Van Dusen Botanical Garden always have their annual Festival of Light where most of the garden is decorated with lights. This year the event runs from December 9th until January 2nd in the next year. It helps that it gets darker sooner these days in Vancouver. The sun has been setting around 4:30 pm these days. I didn't know it was such a popular event either... It was busy! The parking was full, inside and outside on the streets. I think this may also been the first time I've entered Van Dusen Garden in the years that I've been living here ^^;

I had mostly photos and nothing much to say here, so just enjoy them :)

The moon kept peeking in and out as the cloud cover move around.

It's... uh... Anatomically correct...

The minotaur sculpture is near the sign to go to the labyrinth, which is somewhat appropriate. It's closed for this event though. I wouldn't want to get lost in a maze in the dark anyway.

The cave like structure looks very cool. If someone weren't so stingy with their Puki, I would've taken a doll photo XD

The glowing flowers are made of used plastic water bottles. Just to show you how much bottled water we consumed :(

There was also a light show every half hour. I shot the video of it but pardon the shakiness ^^;

I hope to visit the Van Dusen Botanical Garden again when it's not dark and see the whole garden instead of just some of its sections. ^^

Tomoe Mami USB Flash Drive

Tiro... FINALE! Mami's final attack is one of the most powerful and dramatic sounding... Unfortunately it doesn't work all the time ^^;

(This post contains spoiler to Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I'm sure most of you know already where this is going or heard about this particular spoiler, so I'm giving this spoiler warning for nothing, really).

That final attack doesn't work on Charlotte unfortunately ^^; As the result, Mami becomes a very popular meme for heads rolling, munching and any other beheading innuendo XD One of these popular items/meme is this USB flash drive template as seen above. I attempted to make this and tried to document it, but unfortunately I couldn't successfully do it the way I wanted it. The point of this project was to send it to my good friend Yaku for her birthday. I'm glad she loved it even though it wasn't as good as I'd hope ^^;

This is the board I tried to use to make the USB drive more solid, but I underestimated its characteristics to be cut... Thus I gave up on it and had to do it a more ghetto way ^^;

This is the final product... A bit rough. I knew I shouldn't have procrastinated XD

POP! It's a 8 GB USB flash drive! :D

And what I didn't know before is that Charlotte isn't just another USB cap, but it's the backside of Mami's head! I felt so stupid when I realized that ^^;

And then Charlotte munched on the rest of Mami!

Here she is on (or is it 'in') my computer while I copy some stuff inside her... Hmm... This is sounding really dirty...

If I ever make another one for myself, I'll probably put a Charlotte thing on my USB plug XD

Gokigenyou! It's MEIKO's birthday so Luka and Miku congratulates MEIKO on her birthday ^^; Miku is actually not mine, but borrowed from Kaionlriu. Been meaning to take some photos of her but didn't get around to it til now.

I've been so rusty in making the 4koma that I felt like I didn't make this properly... Just a simple welcoming for the new MEIKO Dollfie by the plushies in a yuri style XD

The Birth[day] of MEIKO [DD]

Happy birthday MEIKO! I posted this on the 4th, but by now, it is already November 5th in Japan. She is now 7 years old. I liked her since 2008-09, so you could say I liked her since she was 4-5 years old... Wait, that makes me sound like a lolicon! But really she's made to be 21 years old or so! I first found her through "Sore ga Bokura no Justice" where she looks and sounds badass! I've almost cried a few times just watching this video accompanied by the song.

So just like her birthday last year, let's hear some new and old MEIKO songs :D

Well actually, I'm starting with a song from last year, but heck it's too funny not to post! Oh Luka, so nice of you to celebrate MEIKO's birthday ^_^

This is one of the first songs on NicoNico that was tagged as MEIKO生誕祭2011. It was first posted on October 12, 2011. They sure start early for MEIKO's birthday!

This one has a very pretty MEIKO in the video. A nice gentle and easy going song ^_^

I like these kinds of songs. Very nice style and love the beats and instrumentals.

Oh alright... Here's more of MEIKO DD!

Yes, it's my DD... No, this isn't April. And no, it's not a joke XD It really happened! It's a DDII body with an SQ Lab "Misty" head and an Obitsu 8.5" wig.

The clothes are made by Chun that I commissioned long long ago but I just didn't get around to completing the deal til now (meaning getting the actual parts ^^;;;). The set includes the underwear that Chun's Aki was wearing while modeling MEIKO's outfit... Wait... Does that mean it's Aki's used... underw... 0.o AHEM... Anyway, thank you, Chun, for your patience with my picky attention to details ^^;

The faceup was done by Navci, a local faceup artist, who also loves MEIKO! That easily made my decision to get MEIKO done by her ^_^ I also requested the "00 MEIKO." tattoo on her arm. I wasn't sure if it could be done since it would be quite small, but Navci INSISTED she can do it. I didn't want to force it on her, but she did an awesome job! I love it! She also did the red nail polish on her hands. :)

And what do you think of her face? I guess this angle does make her look different ^^ Very cute! Navci usually do more realistic resin BJD faceups but she can also do DD faces now. This is her second SQ Lab head actually. Galamirix's Shiki being the first one. I've mostly requested for a mature look but since Navci also likes MEIKO, I gave her full freedom to do what she needs to do to make her into MEIKO!

Navci also forced me to... Err... I mean, suggested that I post these MEIKO songs in celebration of her birthday ^_^

shu-t is famous for creating MEIKO songs. There are so many that he's done that I can't keep up (or just haven't been looking lately ^^;). I need me to get some Japanese iTunes card so I can get some MEIKO songs!

It's surprisingly hard to find an ordinary brown boots. These ones are kinda big for her, but the best match so far. These ones are from Dollmore that I bought second hand from DoA marketplace. I lent Helen's thigh highs to MEIKO for now...

MEIKO has a black coloured inner shirt... Usually... But since black stains vinyl, gray will have to do!

Mmm... sekshi! I'm so glad that tattoo came out great even though Navci had to redo it 2-3 times because, in her words, I'm a "picky bastard" XD

And now MEIKO without the inner bra. I contemplated hard whether to get the L-Bust or stick with the M-Bust... I realize later on, I'm not a big fan of the L-Bust ^^; So I stuck with "M"-Bust for MEIKO!

This was the first Vocaloid song I've found. I thought it was awesome that they actually voiced the song instead of the SNES midi bloops... But now I learn that this is really MEIKO singing! I'm floored!

I'm going to fix the eyes a little bit later on. They're also from SQ Lab, but Misty's eyesocket is much smaller than the eyes. I'll readjust later so there will be more brown colour for MEIKO's eyes. Though I did pick these eyes because they are very similar to the Nendoroid ones.

And what's a birthday without some drinking, eh? ^_~ MEIKO's ready to party with some drinks! A very big thank you to Chun, Navci and a few others who I've told about MEIKO DD to keep her a secret until now! I know it was a pain to hide, but I just like surprises and announcing this DD on MEIKO's birthday was that important to me ^_^

I've been meaning to make this post for a long time now. For some reason I'm fascinated by this two legged Miku face meme. It's creepy and scary, but I'm intrigued. Very unique creature that roams this land ^_^ So I figured it's appropriate for a Halloween post, yes? The pic above is my favourite Shiteyan'yo picture. Very deceiving!

So the Shiteyan'yo was started by an artist that goes under the name of puzzle157xxx on Pixiv. Not sure how it exploded but I find it funny that one simple drawing started all of this. So for the remaining of this post will be nothing but Shiteyan'yo pictures and some will be coupled with Miku ;)

Early Halloween Doll Meet

On October 16th, I went to an early Halloween BJD Meet, which is on my working day... But using creative timing, I was able to attend with no problem. The aim was to get our dolls in costume, but I didn't really have one for Helen... So I got her swimsuit and apron for sukumizugi meido ^^; Well it works for some cultural festival, right?? There are so many dolls and photos that this is probably the only paragraph of text I'll have and I'll mostly say nothing else, lol. Lots of new dolls and people too! Unfortunately I didn't have much time to get to know everyone... Let's get to it! There are over 70 photos altogether!

HHHNNNNNGGGGHHH!!!! SO CUTE! I hope someone can tell me more about this one. She's so cute!

Canadian Autumn Starring Helen White

While it was still sunny out in the usual rainy Vancouver, I took the opportunity to go outside and take some photos. No, I don't usually do this, but I remember seeing very nice red leaves when I went out in the morning, so I figured I'll take a few more pics while I'm outside.

This street, before it was blown away by wind, has nothing but red leaves on the trees. These two are the only one that had most of their leaves intact on the trees.

A block away there are these trees with yellow leaves and most of them are still stuck to their branches.

Not sure what kind of tree this is, but there are some kind of fruit in it. I wonder what it is...

I hardly go outside my neighbourhood either, so I don't see their decorations much. This one is simple, but it sure caught my attention. A sure sign Halloween is around the corner... I mean literally, this is just around the corner of my house XD

I get to see closeups of the house ornaments around the neighbourhood too. Something I don't see when I'm driving past by these houses.

And these are the leaves I wanted to take a picture of. They look much nicer from a distance, very red. Closer, they don't look as nice ^^;

But Helen is still curious about the leaves and wanted to take a closer look.

It still took me some courage to take Helen out of my bag and take pictures around the neighbourhood. Hardly any people, but still nerve-wracking.

Aoi & Mari's BirthDDay

After almost a month of no posts, I've finally getting around to this post about a doll meet that happened almost a month ago... My last blog post was my blogday post, which happened to be when this meet occurred ^^; ANYHOO... The owner of Aoi and Mari Dollfie Dream, Galamirix, acquired the sisters on September 23, 2010 in Japan. Now that number has multiplied and one of them, Sakuya, even greeted us at the door when we came in...

I brought all my Pureneemo for this meet ^^ The one standing is Reaperofleaves' Koron.

Cospa Collection (as of Oct. 2011)

For my third blogday (third year anniversary of blogging), I was going to do a more complex project. Something to commemorate the third year... Unfortunately I've been so busy and tired that I forgotten it all until I realized that it was almost time. So I guess I'll forget it and finally do this Cospa collection post that I've been postponing for a while. The pic above is just a sample of the Cospa tags I've collected over the years. Unfortunately I've lost some already even though I tried to keep them all. I wonder what determines which shirts get the dark blue and the light blue tag...

I had to borrow the guest room (formerly my brother's room) to display the shirt. My room is just too damn packed. This should be almost all of them. I didn't include my Imagine Breaker gloves because I've misplaced them somewhere. Probably in the car in the glove compartment... Appropriate place :P There's a total of 38 T-shirts. The rest of the items consist of one hoodie, one windbreaker, one embroidered jacket, one cap, one cell phone pouch, one bag and two coin pouches (three if you count the one I'm using).

There's a lot of shirts, so I'm not going to list them all, but I'll put some details in there.

9 Fate stay/night shirts: 2 all-prints, a regular Saber (that Galamirix also owned because one day we wore it at the same time...) I got this embroidered jacket on sale... Unfortunately I don't fit it. I've been trying to lose weight (with no success) so I can fit it.

I've had this Shakugan no Shana windbreaker for a while now... It's seeing some age. Will upgrade it soon to a new windbreaker ^^

Can't beat a Rei hoodie... Unless you ordered the wrong size... I have an extra size M if anyone wants to buy it off of me ^^; I prefer the zip up in front kind of parka/hoodie though.

Some of the shirts were just worn, so I had to hang them instead ^^;

A pic of the top row. The Yui shirt was the first shirt that was kinda tight even for an XL... That's when I'm sorta noticing that the Cospa shirts were shrunk down. I think they used a different shirt manufacturer/supplier or something because when I wore the rest, they fit ok.

Love the Mikoto bag. She looks so awesome! The carabiner phone pouch is awesome too, except it swings a lot when I'm walking ^^; I've used one of the coin pouches already but it's so worn out that I got an extra XD

The white all-print Rei shirt has been bad luck for me for some reason ^^; I still love Rei and this shirt though.

Kinda glad to find some of these shirts on sale. They're quite expensive when they're at full price. Fuko is probably one of the first ones I pre-ordered from Hobby Search. One of the first shirts I truly wanted right away. She's so cute ^^ "Hitode desu!"

SHITEYANYO!

Here are all the Saber shirts. I have all but one version of the Saber shirt that have been released by Cospa. I'm missing one of the first one they've ever released. I wonder if they'll rerelease it... There is also a variation of Saber Extra, but I didn't like that colour.

I love my Misaka Mikoto shirt! The Misaka Network shirt feels different than the other shirts that have been released from before. It's tight around the arms and feels a bit more stretchy than the previous ones. I don't like it as much, lol. I hope they can go back to the previous or a better shirt.

Not as many Haruhi shirts out there... The SOS Brigade was bought from YesAsia, I believe. It was one of the rare ones that was available from them.

I love the story of Shakugan no Shana... Novels... I'm not too particularly fond of the anime ^^; I've been trying to watch the second season with no success. I like Noizi Ito's art very much, so if I see her art turned into a shirt, I tend to get one.

Oh ya... There is this Saber towel that I have from Cospa as well ^^; This was on sale, so I got it before it sold out XD

Stacking all the shirts together. I've put three of them in the laundry but stacked the rest. The ones on the right are the Saber shirts... It's like a quarter of the whole collection ^^;

One of my wish lists from Cospa is a Saber windbreaker or parka. I would also like to get a new hat, though I haven't been wearing hats much anymore. Oh and a wallet too! Mine's really busted XD

And here are the back of the cards... I've kept most of them because of the stickers and some of them are holographic :) So that's it for my Cospa collection for now. I'm sure there will be more soon ^^;

Burnaby and Deer Lake Park Meet

Seems like all my posts recently has been nothing but doll meets ^^;; Oh well, it's better than to just forget what happened, yes? There are still a few things I haven't posted yet and haven't found the time to edit and post yet! Oh well... Anyhoo, this meet happened last week on the 9th and 10th of September. Here's Mugi greeting you with a negi-shaped grass at a park beside the Burnaby Public Library near Metrotown.

On Saturday we had a small walk called "Walkie Talkie" as Navci puts it. So I arrived at Deer Lake Park on time, but was one of the only three that first shown up... So I took a picture of this spider in the meantime.

In the middle it somehow became more of a "Talkie" than a "Walkie" ^^; But anyhow, we got some pics with our Nendobitsus out.

Mugi also came along :) Since it was back to school season, she is now back in her school uniform.

Thankfully our drinks were aplenty... Just take a look at this giant slush! Mugi is amazed at the size! I had to stand up and go down on it from the top so it doesn't tip over and spill.

Lynn Canyon Park Doll Adventure

There have been so many events and outing lately that I haven't got a chance to post them all immediately. Like this meet at Lynn Canyon Park happened two weeks ago ^^;;; I thought about just leaving it, but there would be very nice photos I won't be posting... So here are the late photos... Better late than never.

So since it was Labour Day weekend, I was able to start and finish work early to go to a noon meet. We quickly took over three picnic tables :P

BlueStarBaby's Birthday Meet

I love alliteration! Indeed, this was BlueStarBaby having a meet to celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately I couldn't stay too long and just dropped by with snacks, a gift and a new Azone Pureneemo debut. Did you guess who my newest Azone girl was from my last post? There are a lot more Azones coming out too now. Most of them were Maruneko, but there was also an Azone/Volks hybrid on the far right of the picture, owned by the birthday girl ^^

So now do you know who my new Azone girl is? XD Here she is posing with some macarons. I gave a box to BlueStarBaby while the rest of us shared this. They were gone in an instant!

Raising an Azone Army

I initiated a Hobby Search group order in the group I'm in on Facebook which was mostly for just a Pureneemo doll stand,but then it became an Azone army raising event!

There were 6 of us ordering, but 3 of us ordered a Pureneemo. So yea... Not all of these are mine ^^; But with these three, we are definitely getting a lot more of them for the doll meets. Would you like to guess which one is my new one? :P

Here's a hint... It's not that obvious! This one is Misaka Mikoto.

The next is Kuroneko aka Gokou Ruri.

Sea-to-Sky TakoLuka

Sea-to-Sky Highway is one of Vancouver's famous roads that goes from Vancouver to Whistler and even further into the mountains. I'm borrowing that name for this post, because it's pretty close to where TakoLuka has gone for this past two weeks ^^

First up, on the last Saturday of August, my family, including my uncle and aunt who visited from Holland, traveled to Whistler by train on the Rocky Mountaineer. It's a scenic 3-3.5 hours ride from North Vancouver to Whistler. The attendant was very friendly and pointed us to many attractions and gave us many new information about the sites that we didn't know about.

Although one of the things we didn't know about was that the employees were locked out at the time and they had replacement workers until they settled their contract. I'm not sure if there are any resolution to this yet... We had to cross the picket line since we already paid for these tickets...

They provided us with some refreshments before the train ride. I had quite a few, but there were still some more left over!

Of course there are other locomotives around the area, such as this cargo one for CN Rail.

Here's TakoLuka explaining all the emergency exits and where you can break open the window in case of an emergency.

It's like she's walking around on the train! XD

TakoLuka usually eats tuna, but I think she'll settle with salmon as well, right?

I was tempted to get Fraser the Bear plushie.. But I'm sure it's just more stuff on my bed ^^; TakoLuka really want that salmon in his mouth though...

The Lions Gate Bridge... Built my the family who owned Guiness... Yes, Guiness the beer. It's also designed by the same person who did the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

We passed a couple of waterfalls at least... I forgot what this one was called.

Here's a nice view of the Cheakamus River that can be only seen when you ride the Rocky Mountaineer.

We only had about 3 hours at Whistler, so we didn't do too much. We went on the Peak2Peak Gondola though, connecting from Whistler to Blackcomb. But first we had to go to the peak first by riding this smaller gondola. There were lots of mountain bikers in the area. Some just wearing helmet and some were fully geared from head to toe.

At the peak we were greeted with some leftover snow! I didn't even know they lasted this long!

TakoLuka is fine in the snow :P I should've brought Azunyan so I can replicate my post from last winter :P

After a 25-30 minute wait we finally got on the Peak2Peak Gondola. The normal gondola comes around every 5 minutes... But the special silver ones come only about that long. What's so special is that it has a glass bottom so you can see below!

It makes TakoLuka look like she's floating in the air!

Here she is content to be outside my bag on a nice surface...

Until she realizes where she is and how far down it goes below ^^;

On the way back we just went on a normal gondola, but not an opportunity missed to take a photo of a scared TakoLuka ^^

Another view of the waterfall as we ride back down from Whistler to North Vancouver. It was a very short trip unfortunately... I was asleep for half of the way so I probably missed some new information that wasn't repeated by the attendant ^^;

The next week, on Labour Day, we went to Lynn Canyon Park in North Vancouver. Two days in a row... At least I did. For this part, these photos were the ones where I was with my family.

Underwater TakoLuka! "Come and get me," she says as she sticks her tongue out... Little does she know that it's really cold and bad for plastic figurines like her to stay under like that... (At least that's what I think... it was really cold water!)

She got on somewhat dry land to give us this nice shot :P

This tree got my attention... It looks like some kind of condo for some kind of animal... Woodpeckers? Squirrels? Dunno, the tenants weren't there.

And one of the destinations for this 2nd Lynn Canyon Park trip was to see the Twin Falls. It was nice, but we can only see from above.

The water looks very nice... So nice that a couple of guys jump into it after we left the area... It's still icy water, y'know!

It was quite a strenuous hike even though some of the steps where wooden planks. The hills were quite steep. I think we got some exercise out of it... Or at least work out the dim sum we had for breakfast, lol.

Lastly... Took a picture of this using the zoom in the camera. It was quite far away, but got nice detail on this... fruit? Berry? Whatever!

ReaperofLeaves Birthday Sleepover

This past Friday was reaperofleaves' birthday and she held a sleepover party at her place. It was a bit far from where I was, so I guess it made sense to have a sleepover ^^ It took about 30-40 minutes drive without any stopovers or if the GPS doesn't lose its battery power... We came 3 hours late from the appointed time but were still the first ones to arrive XD I drove Galamirix and MysticaGrey along.

We immediately hauled out our dolls and the snacks... Though I think the snacks came first :3

Pardon me if I don't know any of the names ^^; I'm so bad with names unless they're written down. I had a discussion with my passengers regarding this. If it's not written down then my attention span decreases XD

Cos & Effect 2011

What do you expect when you see the event called "Cos & Effect"? I was only expecting a one-day cosplay only event. Apparently I was mistaken. It was almost like a full convention minus the guests. A mini-con if you prefer. I thought it'd be a small event so I wasn't expecting a lot of cosplays, but I was wrong again! There were lots and lots of cosplays, some that I couldn't immortalize in a photo ^^; There were also some panels and vendors and artist alley! And it was a two-day event. Since I underestimated it I didn't take a day off for Sunday from work to go there. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted on the one day that I did go... I did regret missing that Swimsuit Competition panel -_- Hoping to find videos or photos of that event soon ^_^

Oh and I also wore the Kyuubey shirt from J-List... I didn't think it would get that much attention ^^; And I thought there would be other people who'd wear that shirt XD

ANYWAY! On to the cosplays! This first one I took a photo of is of Kyuubey and Kyouko from Puella Magi Madoka... Now Kyouko is a friend of mine from the doll meet group... Unfortunately I didn't recognize her and she didn't say anything XD It was a bit depressing that she said some people don't know her character =(

Got these from Featherfall in person. I was eyeing this Sailor dress... Mostly because it looked like something out of Aria... And yes, that's the same saddle that Nendobitsu BRS used on Helen ^^;;; I didn't know it was for sale XD

And my coup-de-grace of the convention... This MEIKO art totally blew me away! I repeated, "I had to get this" twice before paying for this. There was a Miku art as well, but honestly, I don't even remember what it looked like XD Now I gotta find out who drew this and see what else s/he got!

Doll Summer Pool Party!

With me by myself in the house for almost a month, I thought it was a good idea to have some fun at home, so why not have a piece of summer doll meat, eh? Err... Well meetup with everyone and their dolls, that is. What I didn't expect was 20+ people coming over ^^;;; I was only thinking that maybe only 10-15 people, lol. Clearly I underestimated an Actual Vancouver Doll Meet! Ah also with this meet I've prepared a kiddie pool I bought real cheap from Toys R Us. We had quite some fun with it too ^^

This meet took place on August 6th and there are a TON of photos! Over 70 photos in total... So um, I'll stop typing now except for little tidbits here and there...

Actually they had a mini meet on August 1st since it was a holiday in BC, so we all met up at Metrotown. I couldn't stay for the Deer Lake meet, but others did.

A Week in Vancouver (After a Week in L.A.)

Well, technically three weeks in Vancouver, and technically it wasn't really a week in L.A., but you get the gist of it... I was trying to post this a week after my AX trip, but turns out it was one of the busiest month for me thus far! It's like every weekend there was something going on. I was going nuts XD Anyhoo... To begin, the picture above was actually taken before my trip, but it's a good starter. I actually found a shop in Richmond where they were selling these "breast enhancer" cookies ^^;

When I came back, I got in contact with Chun because I had an omiyage for her. Turns out she also received something right after I got in, lol. The Monthly Anime Style was inside the box with the NenPuchi Taiga included, with lots of packing peanuts...

Oh ya, I also dropped off a new card from DC to give to her. Needs more Mirai...

This one isn't from the US, but I've been wanting to play Conan PS3 game again and got it somewhat cheap from the used games shelves at Best Buy.

A week after was my birthday and also the summer festival at SFU. BUT there was also a wedding before this! I hope the couple remembers that it was my birthday whenever they remember their anniversary... LOL! JK JK. Anyway... The summer festival was a free event that had some artist alley and some vendor selling goods. Some of my friends were kind enough to help me buy Panty and Stocking Nendoroids for my birthday ^_^ And randomly, I also met another friend, Sayoko, who wasn't in my group that I was with. She was in cosplay, so I almost didn't recognize her ^^;;;

There was also some summer-like events, like shooting gallery and other mini games that you can play for free to get some tickets for lucky draw. One of the draws is a chance to whack a watermelon.

Can't forget the blindfold... Though I have to say putting that watermelon on top of a chair is a baaaaad idea. The watermelon rolled down the steps, ahahaha.

Chaos ensues... A friend of mine took a video of the whole murderous rampage!

Oh and how the tides has turned when my friend was chosen to draw a ticket for the winning prize, lol. It was funny that she actually knew that she was going to be chosen XD

And this is also the first time I've seen Kieran Strange in person. I first found out about her when she was on the cover of 24 Hours. Got curious and now I'm following her on Twitter. She's cosplaying Elfen Lied's bloody Nyu. And that isn't a wig :)

Found a nice cosplay group here. Homura, Gakupo and Len... Don't ask me which versions they are...

Must get a photo of this Homura! I failed horribly at getting any Homura cosplay at AX, so I was semi-desperate to get this picture, lol. Thank you Homura-san!

The next week was a trip with co-workers to Harrison Hot Springs for a... stag party? I guess there are different kinds of stag parties. This one was a fun overnight stay, it was also my first time going to Harrison.

This is the centerpiece of the Executive Hotel where we stayed in. It was a square hotel, so you can go around and around the halls to get to your room.

There was also a Dragon Boat race going on when we were there. We met a lot of paddler on the streets and at the hotel.

On the same day, I had to go back to Coquitlam for my brother's birthday party... And I guess for me as well. My co-workers went golfing back in Harrison, which I can't play anyway. About a week before my brother's friends (who I'm close to as well) asked what I want for my birthday. All I wanted for a long time for my birthday was a Dairy Queen ice cream cake.

I just didn't expect this design to show up on the cake! I. LAUGHED. MY. ASS. OFF! The other funny part was the "has been" part was originally spelled as "husband"! I think DQ employees should suggest customers to write down what they want, hahaha.

And now a piece has been removed :3

The next Friday was the trip to go to Featherfall, which I've posted in a different post because there were LOTS of photos :D

A week later was another meetup with some new friends I haven't met yet. It also happened to be on the day of the 35th Powell Street Japan Festival. I ate A LOT in that festival. I'm still craving yakimochi as we speak...

After spending some time browsing Book-Off we go to our reservation at Zakkushi. And newly dressed Nendobitsu BRS is coming out for some drinks. The place is basically an izakaya style restaurant. Expensive, but delicious nonetheless... My favourite was the quail eggs wrapped in sliced pork... YUM!

I had to watch over her so she won't have a nice cold beer bath... She's such a lush! XD

We had a time limit of 2 hours before the staff kicks us out for the next reservation... We talked a lot and got to know people by exchanging a round of Fate/Unlimited Codes with each other XD

One of our side trips was Konbiniya where I found this delicious Mint Pocky! I know a Twitter buddy of mine, MintyPocky, was looking for something like this, lol. I know I was as well and it was as good as I'd hope ^^

And here's a group picture after the night was over... ^^;;; Some people didn't want to show their face nor identified here, so I'll be consistent and cover everyone's faces and not say who's who :P We're all a bunch of contract dealing, magical girl scamming group... No, lol, just kidding, we're all a bunch of nice guys. Hopefully to meet up again with you folks!

That's the big 3 weekend of craziness after the first crazy weekend in L.A. Super busy month... I think August will be just as busy 0.o

Featherfall and Obitsu 11cm

A semi-completed group order from Featherfall prompted me to start working on my Nendoroid/Obitsu hybrid using the Obitsu 11cm body that I got from Anime Expo. So I'll start with the Obitsu body right after the jump. It's a naked Obitsu 11cm body, but no details really, so I don't know if you wanna call it NSFW :P Just a warning either way.

I had a bit of a problem trying to open up the body so I can take out the original neck peg and put one in that fits a Nendoroid head, so I figured I'd let some people know how to open the Obitsu 11cm body.

First of all, take off those pesky limbs... They'll just get in the way...

Then I used a small screwdriver to pry open from the top of the arm hole (as shown above) and use the wedge to make a gap in the lower part of the chest.

There's a gap now, but still need to open up more because the pegs inside is quite deep.

Use the screwdriver again, this time on the lower part of the chest and pry that part open.

So now that it's open, you can see the pegs inside and why you need to pry it twice. Do be careful when you open it, I did damage the plastic a little bit while doing this surgery.

I got this set of spare ball shape joints for an old project of mine that I've never gotten around to fix... It somehow came in handy for this project. I originally got this from HLJ for around $8 or less.

Then I took apart the neck joint from the original Nendoroid and combine it with the spare joints. It almost works... It doesn't fit in perfectly, but with a little bit of scotch tape around the peg, I was able to make it work. The joint on the right is the original one from Obitsu. Some people has sanded the original Nendoroid neck joint (in Japanese and in English), but I was too lazy to do that and didn't want to destroy a neck joint ^^;

And voila! Black Rock Shooter Nendobitsu hybrid complete! The neck is long still... But I don't think it's possible to shorten it without ruining the functionality...

Uh-oh... She's mad cuz she's got no clothes...

Trying out other Nendoroid heads... Kirino is not amused with oniisan... It was a pain trying out other Nendoroid heads actually... Getting the neck joint out of the head is painful to the fingers...

So now she's out'n'about with other Puki and smaller friends. Her makeshift dress is actually a blouse from a Daiso doll clothes set which cost only $2. It's too big for her, but at least she's not naked at this restaurant in downtown we went to... We went to Crepe Cafe. I wanted a hot dog, but they ran out and didn't tell me in advance so I ordered their pizza instead. It tasted horrible... Should've gotten a crepe instead...

A quick try out with other Puki wigs ^^ BRS looks kinda cute, lol.

Afterwards it was a medium length drive to Port Coquitlam to pick up our order. Featherfall is a local BJD vendor, but they don't always let people pick things up. We got permission thankfully and had a little bit of fun ^^ And also pick up appropriate clothing for my new Nendobitsu BRS. This cute lil number looks cute, but I'm not sure if BRS likes it XD

I also met a new member from DoA, whose member name I forgot... Sorry ^^; I'll just call him "the friendly ghost" for now... This one is his doll, Lux (Thanks Itsuka!). I tend to forget things unless they're written down.

I love this dress! She's just like a queen from a European country. Just beautiful!

Uh-oh... Someone's hitting on Helen...

Airs' boy wants a piece of Helen... Look how big his hands are compared to hers! He's gonna eat her alive! XD

And then here comes the boys doll love... I thought I took more photos, but I guess only this one turned out alright ^^;

BRS on a saddle was not something I could not pass up to have this kind of shot ^^;;

Love the metallic wings! Quite fancy... I've always loved wings, but I'm not sure if I want a big one for Helen ^^;

The collar... Ahem, the necklace is a beautiful one. I may need to find one for her. I prefer one of these that look like a choker, I'm a bit fond of those...

Taking a photo with flash for Helen produces a different image for her eyes. Quite a difference!

And then BRS finally comes home with a couple of new outfits.

The magnetic feet really helps with the heavy head and helps produce this kind of pose... Though that's the highest kick I can do for her ^^;

The outfit is Pukipuki size and they fit her perfectly... The shoes are from the Daiso doll clothes... They're meant for Licca or Jenny dolls (I can't remember). The clothes fit the Azone Pureneemo, but the shoes fit the Nendobitsu better ^^

Thank you Featherfall for hosting us and letting us stay quite a bit longer than expected ^^; I did spend some money for these outfits plus some shoes for Helen, hahaha, so this visit wasn't for naught for the both of us. :)

NERV HQ & Bday Presents

Here is the NERV HQ base that I got from Yakuri when I was in L.A. I first seen it on her blog and was impressed with it, but this time I have my own and assembled it. It's quite compact at first, but it opens up to a lot of things you see from the anime! Most impressive!

So I guess I'll be doing the same thing as her but in reverse order, it seems ^^; So here's the base opened up. So compact yet it holds so many cool things inside!

First up, at the top of the pyramid, is Gendou sitting at his desk observing and directing Major Kusaragi on what to do.

And here's the whole base opened up, showing all 5 characters that were in those boxes. It reminds me of Falcon Base from Voltes V for some reason.

Here's my lovely Rei (where I screwed up the macro photo...) at gate 07. It's locked and she got an old passcard... Oh what to do...

Then comes Shinji opening up the door with her new card for her. The escalator also moves when you turn the dial on the side! It's very cute and impressive what you can do with such a small thing.

Here's Shinji getting told by Gendou to pilot EVA-01... at his desk... And then there's Asuka hiding in the background ^^;

Unit 01 opens up to release the plug entry... That none of them will fit in ^^; There's also the hospital bed that Shinji woke up in many times with the unfamiliar ceiling... (Though you'd think it'd be familiar after a while...)

Asuka comes with a scale entry plug... Only a part of it though... Another dial opens up the entry plug on the side. It was actually kinda hard to take her out after a while ^^;

And one of the big product placeme... Sponsors of Evangelion is UCC coffee. They're well stocked at the NERV HQ.

I really, really love this part! It's Eva Unit 00 punching the wall when it went berserk!

Cardcaptor Lightning Sabre

I've captured a few cards from Anime Expo. I'm not sure what kind of magic is in it if I call out their names... "Hooeeeeeeee!" Ah yea... I am a big fan of Cardcaptor Sakura after all, lol. Now where's my guardian animal, Keroberos, to explain what these cards do?

"Konyanyashiwa! Keroberos ya!" *in my best Kansai accent* Ahem... Anyhoo I got a few business cards from people I met there, but unfortunately I couldn't reciprocate... I wanted to get an extra card from Danny for FatB, but to no avail ^^; And yes, the farthest to the left is Kurot's card. Not Clow's card... It's really funny finding Vancouverites in L.A. when we all live in Vancouver XD

Met a few people too, I've mentioned them all in my main Anime Expo post. One card even has an IMDB link! How cool is that?? Even though this is a lot, it still doesn't compare to how many Danny gotten ^^;

Oho, what's this? The sealed cards! (Yes, another Cardcaptor Sakura reference...) I made and ordered my business cards in the beginning of June from Zazzle, but because of the Canada Post strike/lockout, I never received it until I came back from L.A. -_-; The Railgun business card case made by Penguin Parade just arrived today actually, so I thought it's a good time to take these photos finally! The case is metallic and I'm kinda worried the latch will be scratching the case too much... Oh well... I'll just have to get a new case :P

Bwahaha! Behold my card! Very simple. I put my phone number on there because I was going to give some out in L.A. for Anime Expo so people can contact me there, but that didn't happen. Though I think when I order some more I'm gonna take out that number ^^;

And here is the backside of the card... Darnit... They removed my explicit yuri image from the back of my card... LOL!
