Good Morning,

With only 72 days to go until the Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games, the start of the hockey competition on 29th July will be upon us before we know it! With that in mind, we are writing to let you know the process relating to the tickets you have purchased from England Hockey Board.

The tickets will be sent out by Royal Mail Special Delivery Next Day weekday service, which will require somebody to sign for them at the point of delivery and also means we can track the tickets once we have sent them to you.

We are currently hoping to send out your tickets late June/early July, but we will contact you prior to despatch to let you know exactly when we are sending them so you can make any necessary arrangements.

We would like everyone who is supporting GB during the summer to wear red when the teams compete. Have a look at the GB replica kit at our online store www.store.englandhockey.co.uk .

There’s a great chance to cheer on GB before the Games at the Investec London Cup next month. Support GB women as they take on five top teams, The Netherlands, Germany, Australia, South Africa and Ireland. To help us continue to grow and improve, we are now seeking our annual expressions of interest from potential coaches.

We are looking for holders of either EH Level 1 Coaching Award (Assistant Coaches) or Level 2/3 Coaching Award.

Sport Coach UK Safeguarding & Protecting Children Certificate or equivalent child protection training would be beneficial as would a First Aid Certificate or similar first aid training.

This is an opportunity, not only to help us with our future growth, but for you to develop your coaching experience and skills and to be paid for doing so.

Our now annual unofficial Hockey Tour to Cyprus for the Akrotiri Mixed Hockey Tournament will be from Thursday 4th to Monday 8th October 2012

Great Britain women’s hockey team sets up semi final clash with Germany

Great Britain’s women’s hockey team will face long-standing rivals Germany in the semi finals of the Champions Trophy in Rosario, Argentina, on Saturday evening with the match set to be shown live on the BBC.

The final four clash takes place at 20:30 GMT (17:30 local) on Saturday and will be shown live on the BBC red button platform on satellite, cable and freeview. The second semi final features Olympic Champions and world number one, The Netherlands, against World Champions and defending Champions Trophy title holders Argentina.

Great Britain reached the semi final by beating Korea 4-1 in Thursday night’s quarter final tie; the goals coming from Clifton’s Georgie Twigg and Reading’s Helen Richardson either side of two excellent strikes by Reading’s Alex Danson.

It is only the third time a British representative has reached the final four of the Champions Trophy competition which began in 1987. Two years ago, when the tournament was hosted in Nottingham, England picked up a first ever Champions Trophy medal after beating Germany 2-1 in the third place playoff thanks to goals from Leicester’s Crista Cullen and University of Birmingham’s Susie Gilbert. Before that, in 1989, Great Britain finished fourth behind Korea, Australia and West Germany. No British women’s team has ever reached the final of the Champions Trophy.

Following the semi final, Great Britain’s final match, either a bronze medal playoff or the final, will take place on Sunday evening.

Investec London Cup and Olympic Test Event

The Champions Trophy represents the first of three major tournaments for the Great Britain women ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Hockey’s Olympic Test Event takes place from 2-6 May on Olympic Park. A month later, just seven weeks before the start of the Olympic Games, Great Britain will play host for the Investec London Cup, a six team international tournament to be held at the University of Westminster Sports Ground in Chiswick from 5-10 June. Tickets for these events will be available soon.

Olympic coach travel

I have today confirmed a 53 seater coach to the Olympic park on 5 Aug. The intention is to arrive at the park at about 5pm for our session at 7pm and leave at about 11pm. Cost will be £15/seat which is great value for transport straight to the Olympic Park from Witney.

Thank you to those who showed interest in the earlier email, and I'd now like to firm up seats, and more importantly get money off you! Although I do have an option on another coach if numbers make that viable, these first 53 seats are on a first come first served in terms of me seeing your money!
