16 May 2012

Good Morning,

With only 72 days to go until the Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games, the start of the hockey competition on 29th July will be upon us before we know it! With that in mind, we are writing to let you know the process relating to the tickets you have purchased from England Hockey Board.

The tickets will be sent out by Royal Mail Special Delivery Next Day weekday service, which will require somebody to sign for them at the point of delivery and also means we can track the tickets once we have sent them to you.

We are currently hoping to send out your tickets late June/early July, but we will contact you prior to despatch to let you know exactly when we are sending them so you can make any necessary arrangements.

We would like everyone who is supporting GB during the summer to wear red when the teams compete. Have a look at the GB replica kit at our online store www.store.englandhockey.co.uk .

There’s a great chance to cheer on GB before the Games at the Investec London Cup next month. Support GB women as they take on five top teams, The Netherlands, Germany, Australia, South Africa and Ireland. With picnic hampers on offer, the chance to have a go at hockey in our Funzone and our retail village selling all the best equipment for next season, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee! Tickets start at just £1 for under 18’s and £10 for adults. Visit www.greatbritainhockey.co.uk/investeclondoncup to buy your tickets today!

We hope to see you there!

Kind regards

Witney 2nds finished their season in 5th spot after a good 4-1 win over Sonning 4ths. Nick Dunnington (2), Tom Yallop and Chris Partridge all scoring. Correction to last week, Tom got the 2 goals and Glen only one - I was rebriefed at the bar in no uncertain terms!!

Andy Birnie scored a hat-trick and Fraser Barnard a brace in a 6-1 win for Witney 3rds over Wallingford 4ths. Dan Hulme wrapped up the scoring that sees Witney finish 2nd and gain promotion from Div 7.

Aylesbury 4ths were unable to cope with a rampant Witney 4ths as they slotted 3 goals in a 15 minute blitz. Patrick Button (2) Sam Hook and James Bartrip all on target in a 4-1 victory that sees them finish 5th in Div 8.
Witney 1st 4 Ramgharia 4. A last minute goal saw Ramgharia grab a draw despite a hattrick from Tim Hardy and one from Ben Wells. Witney have now slipped to 4th in the table and are starting to lose touch with the leading 2 as the games start to run out.
Witney 1st hopes of promotion took a blow after suffering only their 3rd defeat of the season against Newbury and Thatcham 2-3.

Witney 2nds needed almost the last strike of the game to snatch a 2-2 draw against lowly Amersham and Chalfont. Despite scoring first through Scott Summers, they conceded a controversial equaliser and never really settled for the rest of the game. Nick Dunnington popping up at the end to save their blushes.

Wycombe 5th 4 Witney 3rds 1, the top of the table clash saw a result that could put paid to Witney's championship hopes. Justin Winfield scoring the consolation as Witney slip into 2nd spot.

OMT 4ths 0 Witney 4ths 4. A scrappy first half was soon forgotten as Patrick Button and Ben Carroll both grabbed braces to maintain Witney's push for another promotion.

Witney 5ths 2 Abingdon 3rd 3. The Captain described this as the worse game of hockey he'd ever played in - one player short for the whole game and no real shape to the team. Phil O'Brien grabbing one of the goals (haven't heard who got the other), but Abingdon clenching the victory.

Thanks
