Portfolio Update

So yeah I'm a bit busy, I started working at a law firm part time to assist in their 2012 marketing plan. I am still working at the bakery part time and working with marketing firm doing side design projects. Needless to say I'm kind of all over the place. But to keep you updated I have been doing some web design (which I'm really enjoying) here's what I have thus far, you can check out the rest here! I'm hoping to get my new blog up soon so I can actually have my portfolio up and running. But, this will do for now!

Just Freestyling

Alright, I saw this quote somewhere on Pinterest and lost it...so I wanted to re-create it just to post about it. For my family and friends that know me well, know that I make up my own words to songs I don't know (like I'm sure many of you do), but my words tend to be a tad ridiculous. I won't even get into the song "Ridin' Solo" by Jason Derulo, because that was just bad, but needless to say I now have something to come back with when someone does try to correct me. Enjoy!

2011 Tally

So, this morning I was thinking about what I could post about next and thought of doing my 2011 Fails. Then I stumbled on those little tally notebooks from Set Editions below and thought why not do them all. So *content advisory* I'm going a little personal again and will share what went down in 2011! It is definitely interesting to go through and list these things, so I would recommend it. Enjoy!

Ahhhh I love these! I stumbled on Set Editions through Oh So Beautiful Paper and needed to share them with you! These little paper products are perfect to have on hand...daily. I like finding clever stationery and this is definitely one I wouldn't mind owning. (especially #3 the mercy cards). Check out their website to view more of their lovely designs!

Good Morning 2012

Just because I learned how to do a sparkle pattern, I thought I would make a new post. Ha! (And it seemed appropriate). Well I had a fabulous NYE celebration, I couldn't ask for a better evening. Unfortunately it was the first time in 4 years (5 years?) that I didn't get a kiss on midnight from the boy. But on a good note we did get two midnight celebrations over the phone, since I was in 2012 an hour before him. To top it off I know of three engagements and one mommy-to-be! Oh and the Packers WON..and that's with benching seven of their starters! On that note, I went to a restaurant/bar to watch the game..by myself. I was terrified. But it really wasn't bad, plus I was proud to be sporting my GB jersey as they made that winning touchdown with only minutes to spare. (actually I was proud anyway).
Anyways, I hope everyone else had a lovely evening and has the best 2012 they can. (and lets not talk about the whole "the world is ending" thing, that upsets me...I'm too young and have done too little for it to end). But HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2012 Resolutions

I cannot believe it's almost been a full year since the post for my 2011 resolutions. The good thing is that all of them were completed and pretty successful! Now onto 2012, this year I have a bit more on my list to accomplish, I guess we'll just have to wait and see! (And hope I can get through it all). Enjoy and have a lovely day!

Feeling Crafty Again

So I've been in a crafty mood..but haven't had much time to actually do anything. Here are a few neat things that were on my list of possibilities.
1. If I didn't have so many wedding books with great covers, I would definitely make some of my own covers like Twig & Thistle.

2. Since I'm loving neon right now, I want to try this custom pin-board by FellowFellow.

3. Another idea for my sisters xmas gift (yes, I still haven't shipped hers), I could make her a Circle Scarf by Yours Truly, G.

4. With items I all ready have at my house I might make my own Reed Diffuser by Sugar + Cloth. Enjoy!

Celebrating the New Year

For the first time I may actually get to dress up and attend a New Years party! If I could (and money didn't mean a thing) I would be all over that beautiful outfit below. I feel like New Years Eve is the time to go all out, to look your best and feel your best. It is the end of the year and it is time to celebrate your accomplishments. For the longest time I have always wanted to celebrate New Years wearing a chic cocktail dress, attending a stylish party, and sipping on some bubbly. So wish me luck..this might be the year!

Graphic Designing

Good God I am slacking! I'm going to blame it on the craziness of the season! I haven't even mailed out my sisters Christmas gift yet...because I am still making it. For the first time in a long time I worked 49 hours in 5 days! Which I LOVE, I can always use the money. But, with that being said I am slightly stressing out because I have some side projects that NEED to be finished. One of my many projects is designing a website for my portfolio and my rates (per se). What do you think? I debated putting this up here because I'm not loving it, but it's a start right? I really want to get out the fact that I can do Identity/Brand design and that I absolutely love doing it. So yes, I need a portfolio!

It's Been Awhile...

Ooofta, it really has been too long since I blogged. That means I've had more design stuff to do on the side (which is good). I just recently started working with Lemonstripe, as a contracted designer. They have been giving me some great opportunities, and can't wait for more in the future. So, yes I've been a bit busy. BUT, on a side note I started teaching myself calligraphy! So, I attached two simple designs I did with my new 'beginners' pen. What do you think? It's pretty fun!

Gold, Bronze, and Blue

Happy Thanksgiving to everybody! I hope you all had a great dinner with some great people! I thought I would update you with my little turkey day dinner. Like I posted below I wanted to go with a Gold, Bronze, Turquoise, and White color scheme. Well what do you think? I actually had other plans in mind. I wanted to create a centerpiece with gold and bronze painted pumpkins and some sort of candle arrangement, (tapers, floating, or just votives)...well I soon found out that North Carolina doesn't sell pumpkins or gourds past Halloween (what!?), yeah! So then I thought I would find some neat leaves that I could paint or even create a centerpiece with...well I also found out there are not many tree's with large leaves around here. I had the option of buying leaves, but for some reason that just seemed silly. So this is what I went with, some bronze/gold ribbon and baby's breath. I couldn't even find a blue linen at the rental place so I used a curtain. But, all in all it all turned out great. This was my first Holiday away from home, and you know what it was perfect. I was able to decorate the table, eat delicious (Italian) homemade food, have great conversations, and even took a walk down to the boardwalk while sipping on coffee (w/chocolate vino). There was a crisp breeze which made it all perfect. So to everybody, I hope you had a lovely Holiday and wish you a happy weekend!

A Thanksgiving Color Palette

Braided Hair-Band

I thought I would share a new hairstyle that I tried today. I found it here at Keiko Lynn, I actually did mine a little different than hers. I teased my hair, pinned half of it up, split the unpinned hair into three sections, braided the two outside sections (braid it upright), and created the headband by bringing the braid across the top of my head. (I can tell my braids are different sizes, oops.) With the loose hair in the back I just put it into a messy low bun. I realized that almost every day I do my hair a different way..just like I did in high school. I started wondering if that is weird or not, I like to keep things exciting! And yes, I took a quick pic of my outfit today..I stepped quite a bit out of my norm and through a lot of color into the mix!.

A Reality Check

Hello all, so as you know I typically do not write much about my own personal life. I have two reasons for that, 1) Because I do not want to bore you with my life details and 2) Because I am horrible at writing and grammer! (which I'm sure you have realized). But, as I peruse through the hundreds of blogs a day I really do love when you get to see the person behind the blog. So, here you go...it's going to be long!

1. As you know I'm Angela, I'm 24 (almost 25 aaaahhh) and completely obsessed with weddings, event styling, and graphic design. I knew I wanted to be a wedding planner since I was 13 and to this day have grown to love the industry so much more...especially the color and design side. I work at a cupcake/bakery downtown Wilmington and do graphic design on the side. I just moved to Wilmington, NC and still cannot believe I'm actually here! I took a huge (ass) risk and so far it's going very good for me! (Besides missing the peeps below). Oh and I'm obsessed with anything with gold/rose gold sparkle.

2. As you have probably gathered I have a boyfriend, his name is Kiley (yes it's Kiley, and I love it), but I usually refer to him as 'my love' on the blog. He lives back home in Wisconsin, (1,214 miles and/or 20 hours and 48 minutes from me). We are soon approaching our 4 1/2 year anniversary and cannot believe how fast that time has gone! We started as neighbors my sophomore year (they were the upperclassmen guys across the hall), became friends, played on a intramural softball league together, and that following summer he taught me how to play tennis...that's when I started falling for him and soon started dating. I've never loved someone so much, he is my biggest supporter and am lucky to have him....I miss him like crazy.

Below was our first date as well as Halloween when visited me.

3. My sister, her name is Cali and she lives in St. Paul with her husband (married for a little over a year}. We talk almost daily and for long periods of time...about the most random stuff. I am beyond thankful to have her in my life and love that she is only a year and a half older than me! She is super creative and needs to have a blog of her own. She has an amazing style, can cook like Martha, and is the nicest person I know! I know for a fact I wouldn't be the person I am today if it wasn't for her. I have always looked up to her and will continue to. {That us below, and then her and her hubby}

4. Best Friend.. My sister and I share the same best friend..as people may think is weird. But true. Her name is Kaycee and she lives near Menomonie with her husband (newlyweds). We all grew up together and have made many amazing memories together. She is the other one who has made me who I am today. She taught me to live without regret and love without fear. (Did I say that right?) She is an absolutely amazing person and honestly couldn't be happier for her. (I'm trying to convince her to go on their honeymoon/vacation in Wilmington...but they just bought a beautiful house. So I'm letting it slide this time). I miss her and am so thankful to have a friend like her in my life!

4.5. The girls. The summer I started hanging out with Kiley is the summer I met 'the girls'. He played softball with their then boyfriends (now husbands). There is a core of us that to this day are very close. From late nights downtown to camping all weekend at softball tournaments we always had a good time. Of course as we got older we started growing up (well they did) they got married, bought houses, and started little families. But no matter what, when we got together we always made it count. I'm really missing them, and love to get the late night calls when they get together. I am so happy for each of them and can't wait for them to visit!

5. My parents, I have learned so much from them and couldn't ask for a better relationship with each of them. My dad is absolutely amazing and did such a great job raising my sister and I. He taught me so much growing up, things that I will keep with me forever. I love him so much for everything he has done for me. My mom is probably one of my biggest supporters, she always seems to tell me actually what I need to hear. I can count on her to listen to me vent or just to hear my day. I love them both so much!

Omg..can I live in this place!! I just stumbled upon the store C Wonder and absolutely fell in love. From the amazing brand to the chic interior design. The best part is that it's not just a clothing store, you can find purses, coffee mugs, bikes, and probably just about everything in between. Logo Design: Stable Waters

I just finished another logo design! For this one I had to switch gears a little bit and focus less on the prettiness and more on the masculine side. (which I'm still getting used too). I had a lot of fun with this one because I was forced to step out of that comfort zone (feminine style) and do something more neutral. I loved the colors she picked and the play on fonts. I can't wait for my next project!

Luminary D.I.Y

Good morning lovelies! So, yesterday I found a very neat DIY project from the amazing Hey Gorgeous blog...and I thought I would give it a whirl! I opted out of buying a circle punch (too expensive) so I hand cut the circle, which really didn't take long. Luckily I had a glass vase and glue already so all I had to buy is the tissue paper ($3). And an hour later, this is what I got! I think I might try a different color tissue next time..white? Enjoy!
