Been experimenting with a free account at SmugMug - may make the jump over there. Problem is the over 5,000 photos I have on Flickr - yee gods what a hassle it would be to move. BUT, SmugMug has a much better user interface AND you can sell pictures from there, all different sizes and styles and even framing options. They keep 15%; not great, but not bad either. Decisions, decisions.

I think the two adult Canadian geese with this group were babysitting because a few seemed to be older than the others. Still, I don't think I've ever seen this many babies together at one time - they made quite a train when they took off down the lakefront.

The Paramount is a historic 1931 art-deco movie palace in the Uptown neighborhood of Oakland, every inch of the place gilded and sculpted with grand elegance that probably couldn't be duplicated now. The Wiki has a few shots of things like the four-story grand lobby and decorations; the phone did OK with clarity,

Thermal Projection

The digital company Obscura put on a great show for the opening of the new Exploratorium museum at Pier 15; colors and pictures swirled over the white facade of the building, all set to electronic music. Around the side was a heat-sensor projection that captured people in the crowd. I've only done a few pics from the show so far, you can check those out here. More to follow...

Here is the Napa picture I tweeted out the other day. For whatever reason, it looked blurry on the tweet but clear on the phone and the computer. Something on the Twitter end? Sweat on the phone? Not sure. Sharpened it up for posting here.

Anyway, baby grape leaves are bursting on the vines in Napa as another growing season gets underway. Highway 29 through the Valley is a beautiful view,

Attack of the Clones

This story combines both my favorite states for a great idea - if you're planting something in hopes of greening the world, might as well make it the biggest and the best. A family from Copemish, Michigan has been working since the 1990's on this project...

Ceremonial plantings of two dozen clones from California's mighty coastal redwoods were taking place Monday in seven nations: Australia,
