MOPS Easter Egg Hunt

My MOPS group organized an Easter egg hunt a couple Saturdays before Easter. There are three different areas in the church courtyard, so the kids were divided into groups based on age, which was much more agreeable than mixing them all together! Zachary loved hunting the plastic goody-filled eggs. (Daniel didn't participate much in this year's hunt, but we expect him to feature prominently in next year's video)

This video was taken while my parents (Neenie and Growl) were visiting. Zachary is imitating Growl (my dad) by carrying Raggedy Andy on his shoulders. During the video I repeated the parts of the conversation that I understood, but most of it I didn't get. Doesn't seem to phase him though.

I love this video. I love how Zachary puts his hand on Daniel's cheek. I love how Daniel can't take his eyes off Zachary. And I love how Zachary looks right at the camera and says, "Cheese!" And then he wants to see how the picture turned out!

The video starts with Zachary hiding Daniel with Blankie. Before I could get the camera, Zachary would wait for the blanket to fall off (because Daniel is always wiggling) and then he'd put it back and wait again. You can hear Zachary say "There he is! D!" Then we talk about fruit and vegetables (note the missing eyes - they came off in the first hours he had the magnets) and then something outside catches his attention.

I had put Daniel on Zachary's bed and Zachary decided Daniel must have been lonely, so he grabbed a book, jumped up next to Daniel, and read the whole thing to him!

Sitting at the piano, "playing" with both hands, singing his heart out! His lyrics included mommy, daddy, grandma & grandpa (pronounced together, sounds like "growl"), beth, and bob. Then he looked at the Christmas tree and started singing about that. The last bit included some numbers (1-6) and part of the ABCs.

Oops, I'm a little out of order here. This is from the hospital, the first time Zachary and Daniel meet each other. Zachary's interested, but not quite sure what to think. Notice how he keeps coming back to take a look, but doesn't linger long. And the hands in the pockets!! Too much.

Daniel's First Day Home

This video isn't the first time Zachary met Daniel, but it is the first day home. (I must say, I am horrified at my terrible posture! And I'm so glad to say that pouchy tummy is long gone!)

Pensacola

Earlier this week, we considered how quiet it was with family having gone home after Christmas and how we didn't really have any New Year's Eve plans. So, rather than spend a quiet night at home, we decided to go to the beach! We got up early Thursday morning (early, as in, when Daniel woke up at 3:30 for his early morning feeding), finished loading the car (how can two little people need so much stuff for just ONE NIGHT??), and drove to Pensacola, FL. Six hours or so later, we arrived. The weather was gorgeous. So warm and sunny, in fact, that we stopped at Walmart and picked up a couple short sleeve shirts for Curtis and Zachary! After we checked into the hotel, we hit the beach. Obviously this was Daniel's first beach trip, but it was also Zachary's first beach trip. Here is his first experience walking barefoot in the sand.

New Bike

Zachary got a new bike for his birthday. It's called a "balance bike" - it has no pedals. The idea is that he will learn how to balance first without pedals so that learning how to ride a "big bike" won't be overwhelming and he won't need training wheels. When the bike arrived we put it together right away, then headed out to the greenway to try it out.

I could hear Zachary reading to himself, but I had to sneak up or he'd stop as soon as he saw the camera! I love how he says "the end" and puts the book away!!
