Dolpa 29 After Event Limited Item Sale

For those of you who are looking to acquire the limited Dollfie Dream like Sword Art Online DD Asuna アスナ and Mahōtsukai no Yoru 魔法使いの夜 Alice Kuonji 久遠寺有珠, and even though the After Event lottery has already ended; Volks has prepared yet another chance for those of you who miss out on the lottery to do so before resorting into after market strategy. It is not clear how many of them will be available for shopping cart sale event if at all, detail information will be announced tomorrow. The limited item by shopping cart event is tentatively scheduled to start at 20:00 on May 24th Japan time.

Dolpa 28 Volks USA Normal Item Sale

It’s been almost 2 weeks since I came back from my Japan Trip, I am still busy unpacking and finding space to put away the loots and trying to get all the photos ready for my trip report; hopefully I will be able to get around to that soon enough. Now, let’s get back on topic! It’s been over 4 months since Dolpa 28 that was held in last December in Japan, the long overdue Volks USA sale is finally happening in the coming weekend on May 18th.

I have to say there wasn’t a whole lot that really interest me this time, except perhaps the TnK Kitty Ear White Bondage Set, while the dress itself was actually released before for DDDy, but it’s the first time they done it for the regular body.

And for the rest of the items, the list is already up in Volks USA.

For those of us who are more concerned about DP29, May 18th actually bare a very different significant :3

Since DD Asuna was not available in the USA lottery, competition for this AE lottery is expected to be fierce! And based on the latest information available, Volks seems to be abandoning the strategy to allow a small quantity of limited DD for sale by shopping cart prior to the end of the lottery period. In addition, Volks Akihabara SR will accept a small quantity of pre-order in the first half of June.

Volks Dolpa 29 After Event

The past week that I spent in Japan flew by quickly and I am now back in the states, there are a lot of things I wanted to talk about regarding my first hand experience in DP29, but for now, let’s focus on the DP29 After Event! Even prior to my trip to Japan, DD Blog has already indicated that there will be an inventory availability problem for DD Asuna and there were not sure if they will have Asuna on hands during the After Event, but there wasn’t any suggestion that she won’t be available for the After Event lottery (although, there wasn’t a licensing issue at Volks USA at that time either). In any event, Volks has taken their usual steps to update their site with the After Event information.

Notice how the After Event Limited Item lottery actually overlap the sale of normal items, very strange indeed. I am not sure why they are doing it this way though… not a clue.

But based on the information available right now, Volks will begin accepting limited item lottery starting from 12:00 on May 18th to 10:00 on May 20th, Japan Time.

There are a handful of normal items that caught my attention this time, namely the Cheerleader set and the Baseball player sets.

Please note that the Stand Chair is not a complete item on its own, the unit must be combined with the Volks stand to function properly, what you are getting out of the box is just the plastic chair portion.Similar Posts:

Hello there comrades, as those of you who are connected to me via social media sites such as twitter and facebook, or you have been visiting this site recently; then the chances is that you know I am currently in Japan to participate in DP29. I don’t have a lot of time to write as I have a fairly busy schedule but I wanted to at least point out a few things here that will help those of you who are looking to acquire DD Asuna. While a few weeks ago, Volks USA were going to offer Asuna in the USA lottery but they had to yank her out of the selection due to last minute licensing issue (very sad about this). There is very little details as to what will happen in the AE lottery yet but I wanted to get those of you who doesn’t want to take the risk a head start.

About a month or two ago, I started my own Dollfie Dream Auction Tracking Page, some of you might have noticed that at the top of my menu bar. I have been doing that to keep track of Dollfie Dream auctions for years and now I would like offer the same benefit to all of you. Wouldn’t it be nice to only bookmark only one place and to have access to the latest auction trend for most popular Dollfie Dream?

I try to keep track of most popular Dollfie Dream trend for my own purpose and it’s about time I share this with everyone else.

Preparation for Japan Trip 2013

It’s been quite a few year since I have been in this Dollfie Dream hobby and I have been going back to Hong Kong to attend Dollism for the past two years. While it was fun going back to Hong Kong and all, meeting up with local comrades, and to aimlessly wander around the streets of Kowloon; however, after the trip from last year, I just felt I needed to step it up and go for the real thing in Japan!

Back in October of last year, Volks preemptively announced that they were working on the heroine of the popular light novel and anime adaptation Sword Art Online, Asuna, with a projected release date of 2013! I had a good feeling in my mind that they actually meant spring of 2013! Armed with the information I have on hand, I started to plan my trip to Japan right on eve of HTDP Osaka 7. And when the initial leak of Asuna being one of the two limited dollfie dream for DP29, I couldn’t be happier!

I have never been a traveling person by nature (I don’t travel for the sake of traveling), but my desire to go to one of these official Dolls party, coupled with Asuna becoming one of my must have DD has given me enough reason to go for this trip!

And since I have visited Japan in 2009, with the primary reason to see the 1:1 scale Gundam at Odaiba; and after spending about a year or so in Shizuoka, it’s good to know that it has taken a permanent spot in Gundam Front Tokyo! This is the shot I took when I was in Tokyo last time, and since I didn’t have a tripod on hand at that time, this is the best shot I could manage. Since I will be traveling with Sakuya this time, I have got to prepare for two tripods in case of any night scene…. so after some serious consideration, I have decided to go for one of those self supporting monopod by Manfrotto!

It looks like a regular monopod but when you twist open the bottom cap, these three legs will flip out thus creating a temporary self supporting monopod. Make no mistake about it, this is not going to replace a traditional tripod; but it should definitely help me get a steady night scene shot with my other tripod taken by the tripod supporting Dollfie Dream stand

Gundam Front Tokyo is one of those places I have got to visit during this trip!

Obviously, the Gundam Cafe opened in 2010 will also be one of those places I have got to visit!

My timing to this Japan trip couldn’t be any better as I would be primed to catch the Stein;Gate movie as well!

In additional to visiting Akihabara, Diver City Gundam Front and DP29, I will also be doing some sightseeing around Tokyo for the first time! Here is hoping my trip will be a successful one!Similar Posts:

Dolpa 29 Volks USA Limited Dollfie Dream Announcement

Once again, we are within the two weeks window of Dolpa 29 and it’s usually this time that Volks USA to update their website and hold their own announcement for the limited items. And Volks USA most certainly do not disappoint this time! ~~Both Sword Art Online Dollfie Dream Asuna and~~ Mahōtsukai no Yoru 魔法使いの夜 Dollfie Dream Sister Alice Kuonji 久遠寺有珠 will be available for USA lottery!

Due to last minute licensing dispute, DD Asuna was removed from Volks USA site.

As usual, those of you who are new to this hobby may find it helpful to read up on my Where to buy a Dollfie Dream Guide.

Initially, I was a little concerned over whether Asuna will be available to Volks USA lottery due to licensing concern, but this Volks USA announcement has wipe that off the table…. though Asuna will be quite a bit more expensive due the exchange rate used by Volks USA, given the current exchange rate of 1 USD to almost 100 Yen.

Lottery entries will be accepted from Sunday, April 28th @11:00AM PST to Wednesday, May 1st @11:00AM PST.Similar Posts:

Otaku Project: Saving Suku-Mizu Mecha Nurse Girl Nana

A couple weeks ago, I was rearranging some of my PVC figures so that I can put the newly arrived Freeing’s Fate T. Harlaown Bunny ver. in the display shelf; but as luck would have it any other way, I accidentally knocked Mecha Nurse Girl Nana over and ended up breaking one of her wing >.<;;;

While it’s true that my focus hasn’t been on PVC figures for some time, but Mecha Nurse Girl Nana is definitely one of those figures I wish to keep, buying a new one is out of the question as she has been long sold out … and seeing the broken area is a moving joint, my only viable option is to pin it back together with a slight interference fit so the resulting wing will retain its ability to swing. Personally, I have never been real big about DIY, it’s my strong believe that everyone has their true area of expertise and I should just focus on doing what I am good at and leave the rest to other who excel in their respective fields. Then there is situation like this where it’s not exactly convenient to have someone else fix this up for me…. and considering it’s been a while since I have done a Otaku Project post, this would be a perfect opportunity!

Since the area I am trying to fix is very tiny and it’s a moveable joint, it would be inappropriate to use a thick pin (as it would be very noticeable too) so I figure may be I will just use paperclips? A random measurement of a small paperclip suggests that the diameter of the pin is .0325. And since I want the resulting pin to be able to create an adequate interference fit so it will hold itself up without using any kind of glue, I have decided to use a .032 diameter drill. However, a 1/32 drill is very tiny and rare, I ended up having to order it from Amazon.

After a week or so of waiting, the drill bit set has finally arrived! So I got my pin vise and paperclips ready!

Now to drill a hole in the middle of the connecting joint.

Only managed to get a blurry pic here >.<; but the idea is to aim for the middle where the plastic pig broke off.

Same on the other side, here is a picture taken after I have inserted the clipped off paperclip into the joint, forgot to take more in process pics. It took a fair amount of effort to push the pin in, mostly because the plastic is polyethylene based and the hole closed up a little thus generated a lot of friction during the pin insertion.

And here is a result after pushing the wing in through the paperclip! Looks like new again! Well…. almost.

And thanks to my 2 lovely assistance Kurisu and Christina, Mecha Nurse Girl Nana is now fully restored!

Dolpa 29 Dollfie Dream Sister Alice Kuonji

It is of no doubt in my mind that Volks will continue to work with Type-Moon to dollfify their IP and bring more licensed dollfie dream characters based on their popular visual novel. This time is Alice Kuonji 久遠寺有珠 from Type Moon visual novel Mahōtsukai no Yoru 魔法使いの夜, the 2nd Dollfie Dream from the series after Aoko Aozaki.

Since I haven’t actually played the game yet, I cannot offer any background story like I usually did in the past, hopefully the translation team will get done with the game soon… Much like Aoko, Alice is dresses in full winter gear and that gives me the impression that the game takes places in winter. To be honest, I am not sure what to feel about Alice, if Aoko was on the edge of my usual strike zone; then I will have to put Alice outside of it. Perhaps I will change my mind once I see her in person (knowing that Volks could never capture the true beauty of their own dolls).

Alice’s head designer is Misaki, previous work includes Saber, Saber Lily, Sasara Kusugawa, Escalayer, Yuki Morikawa etc. She will come equipped with a S bust Dollfie Dream Sister body and default gear.

Alice has this cat shape charm here, and I am sure it’s related to her magic somehow, which is to be released separately in the near future.

Though at minimum, I am somehow interested in Alice’s dress set, something I intend to pick up later on.

Like Aoko, Alice will have her own casual dress. Once again, I think I am attracted more to the dress than Alice.

While Alice isn’t exactly my cup of tea, but based on the access statistic I have collected that, it seems that a lot of people are interested in Alice, perhaps due to her rather unique look and expression.

I think Volks made a mistake here by allowing the stand to show up behind Alice… though placing the stand behind the DD is a technique I frequently use myself.

This black turtleneck is probably going to stain like crazy but that has never stopped my from dressing my girls up in dark clothing.

Hopefully, I will be able to secure this dress set for my girls.Similar Posts:

Sword Art Online Dollfie Dream Asuna Offical Gallery

Almost 2 weeks since the initial announcement of Sword Art Online Dollfie Dream Asuna for Dolpa 29, DD-Blog has finally released a new set of photos for those of us who can’t wait any longer!

As I discussed in my previous blog post, Asuna’s sculptor is unnamed but I can see traces of Misaki’s work in her head sculpt. Asuna will come equipped with M bust DD 3 body with 24 mm animetic eyes.

As the official gallery is somewhat inferior than the photos released by DD blog, I will stick to the DD blog photos for now.

As usual, Volks’ photos are too washed out to make out any details here.

At least a half way decent close up shot here, still a bit too bright to make out important details imo. But based on my experience here, I think she is looking good.

I like this pose a lot

Based on the photos released today, it’s crystal clear in my mind that I have to bring her home somehow… the how part is what’s puzzling me right now. I have initially suggested the DD Asuna may not be available for standard lottery, looks like I was on the right track…

Based on the information available at DD-blog, it appears that there will not be any DD Asuna available for pick up during the event, everyone will be directed to place pre-order at the event, quantity limited. It is also unclear if there will be any available for the After Event lottery. It’s sad news for everyone and I think we need to voice our opinion to Volks and hopefully change their mind about this. As they have make DD Lucy available for pre-order in addition to the After Event, if enough of us take action and voice our concern to Volks, perhaps we can avoid the dooms day scenario.
