Guide for new Nokia users…

There’s a nice guide from Mark Guim over on The Nokia Blog - either for you, or for someone you know who’s picked up a Nokia this Christmas.

The guide works for most devices and should help you to get the best out of your handset. Check it out, or pass it on and make sure that ‘new shiny toy’ (as Mark puts it) gets off to a great start.

The E51 is ‘a keeper’

It’s been 8 months since he got his hands on it, but Jacek is just about ready to let the world know just how much he loves his E51 over on his Future of Business pages.

There are 25 reasons for the love, ranging from the ‘excellent battery life’ through the ‘very fast processor’ to the lack of a touch screen (better for business use he reckons). For the full list, head over and have a read, and if there’s anything you can add, why not let him know?

Decisions, decisions: which Nokia catches your eye?

Jay3GSM writing on his blog is on the look out for a new Nokia handset. The question at the heart of his decision: Nseries or Eseries?

It seems his options at the moment are: E51, E66, E71, N78, N82 or maybe the N95 8GB. The comments suggest the E71 or the N82 Black are good choices due to the strong feature pack and general build quality, though there is also support for the N78 which is even recommended over the N82…

Some thoughts on Nokia Friend View

Mark Guim over at The Nokia Blog has been looking at Nokia location and micro-blogging tool Friend View and noted a few issues with the service.

The main problem he has found is that not enough of his close friends are using Friend View for it to be worth his time. In the comments Andrew also points out that he doesn’t like the thought of his girlfriend knowing his every movement(!) Have you tried using Friend View? Do you have something to add to this discussion? Share your thoughts here.

It’s Nokia enhancement time…

He’s put together a nice little video looking at the latest accessory releases from Nokia World. There’s the DC-11 battery pack, CS-10 Internet Stick and a host of bluetooth headsets all ably demonstrated in full technicolor!

The E51 is ‘power packed’

By listing the features that he likes in the E51, royalflare is able to create quite a lengthy post.

He is ‘proud’ that the device uses the same processing power as the E71 and boasts a larger internal memory. He is also a fan of the ‘slim and compact’ design and in a battery test he managed to get 12 hours WiFi and another 12 of standby before it needed a charge.

Nokia issued with a ‘to do’ list

The Renegade Fanboy has come up with a wish list of improvements and innovations that he’s looking for Nokia to implement in the coming weeks and months.

Some of them are to do with devices and limiting the number of releases in each year. He reckons that there should be two N- and two Eseries per 12 months. He also implores the manufacturer to ensure that all devices are made released with USB charging. Many of the suggestions are quite enlightening, so head over and see what you think, then add any more you’re desperate to see.

Nokia handset testing video

Ewan from Mobile Industry Review has taken a tour round one of Nokia’s testing labs and has shared a video that will guarantee a new respect for the build quality of the devices.

The E51 is a ‘streamlined business’ device

Calvin has been writing about his recent decision to upgrade to an E51, and why he chose the business handset over the N95.

The decision was made due to the device’s capabilities with 3rd party business apps and he didn’t need the fancy camera and massive memory. The E51, he says, has a ‘sleek…metal chassis’, and to date the performance has been ‘superb’. Offering plenty of ‘bells and whistles’, Calvin says it still carries out ‘the fundamentals extremely well’.
