Rome 1960

Rome had been chosen to stage the 1908 Olympic Games, but the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in southern Italy had intervened. It was galore 52 years later that the Games in the end arrived in the Italian capital. The Rome games were broadcast by television to all European countries and were watched by millions. However, the competitions themselves were overshadowed by the rivalry amidst the US and the USSR. In the final medal table the USSR finished in front of the US by 43 to 34 gold medals.

Olympic Highlights

o	Running barefoot, Ethiopian athlete Abebe Bikila did not go unnoticed when he entered the marathon. He refused to be daunted by the condescending remarks and left all his opponents behind to cross the finishing line victorious, near Constantine’s triumphal arch.

o	Aged 20, Wilma Rudolph became the primary American woman to win three gold athletics medals in one Olympiad: in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. She achieved this extraordinary feat in spite of suffering from a string of childhood sicknesses and recovering from a deformed leg caused by polio.

o	Cassius Marcellus Clay, later known as MuhammadM/, firstgai/ied r’nfernaffonaf prominence by winning the light-heavyweight gold medal. He would later turn professional and embark on a extraordinary career.

Tokyo 1964

For the initial time, the Olympic Games were hosted in Asia, Japan invested to a great extent in the most innovative sports facilities as well as in bettering the infrastructure of a city containing over 10 million people. The extraordinary architectural design of the swimming stadium led to it being described as a “cathedral of sports”. Other outstanding new buildings included the judo hall, which was modelled on the architectural style of established Japanese temples. The opening ceremony offered a glimpse into how record-breaking the contest would be, when teams from 93 nations (10 more than participated in Rome) paraded into the Meiji Stadium. However, the high standards set by athletes at the Tokyo Games led galore critics to warn in regards to exaggerated expected values for the future development of the Olympic disciplines.

Olympic Highlights

o	Australian swimmer Dawn Fraser (see p.21) won her third successive gold medal in the 100m freestyle. She was the original woman swimmer to win eight medals (four gold and four silver) – over three Olympics.

o	Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina (see p.20) added six more medals to her tally, getting the introductory woman to win nine Olympic gold medals.

o	Deszo Gyarmati won gold with the Hungarian water polo team, therefore achieving the (then) distinguishable feat of winning medals at five successive Olympic Games

Mexico City 1968

Mexico City’s high altitude – closely 2,240m (7,350ft) above sea level eclipsed much of the pre-Games discussion: the consensus being that athletes from lowland countries would be at a disadvantage. However assorted weeks of high-altitude training intensified the performances of a lot of of these athletes. There were violent riots in the run-up to the Games, following complaints in regards to the exorbitant amounts of cash being invested in Olympic facilities in contrast to Mexico’s own social problems. Controversy also arose over South Africa’s participation at these Games and the IOC withdrew it is invitation beneath pressure. Doping controls were introduced for the initial time and a Swedish athlete was disqualified for having too much alcohol in his bloodstream.

Olympic Highlights

o	American Bob Beamon was the bestloved in the long jump but he exceeded all expectations. His jump of 8.90m beat the world record by 0.55m.

o	Czech gymnast Vera Caslavska won four gold and two silver medals. These victories were given extra signification by beating the Soviet gymnasts shortly after Soviet tanks had invaded her homeland.

o	American Debbie Meyer became the introductory woman swimmer to win three person gold medals at one Olympic Games.

Munich 1972

The 1972 Munich Games were the biggest yet, setting records in all categories, with 195 events and 7,134 athletes from 121 nations. The Games were supposed to celebrate peace, and for the original 10 days all went well. But in the early morning of 5 September, eight Palestinian terrorists broke into the Olympic village [http://www.nike-trainers.com], killed two members of the Israeli team, and took nine more hostage. In the ensuing battle, all nine Israeli hostages were killed, along with five of the terrorists, and one policeman. The Olympics were suspended and a memorial service was kept in the main stadium. In defiance of the terrorists, the International Olympic Committee ordered the competitions to resume after a pause of 34 hours. All other details in regards to the Munich Games paled in significance.

Olympic Highlights

o	Finnish distance runner Lasse Viren fell halfway through the 10,000m final, but still set a new world record to win the firstborn of his four career gold medals.

o	The media star of the Munich Games was the petite Soviet gymnast Olga Korbut, whose three gold medals helped establish Soviet dominance in the female gymnastics events and captured the attention of fans worldwide.

Montreal 1976

The 1976 Montreal Games were marred by the boycott of 22 African nations protesting the fact that in spite of the New Zealand rugby team touring South Africa in defiance of international sporting sanctions, New Zealand was still permitted to compete. To compound the situation, the host nation suffered an unusually long winter, industrial disputes, and a lack of funds, which made it totally unlikely to finish work on the Olympic facilities in time for the opening ceremony. However, the performances of the athletes did not suffer from the political and national disputes. Despite the problems, the Games were well organized and, following the 1972 terrorist attack in Munich, security was tight.

Olympic Highlights

o	Nadia Comaneci was the star of the Games. She achieved her original perfective 10 on the uneven parallel bars, and the judges awarded her the greatest or most complete or best possible mark seven times.

o	With his victory in platform diving, Italian Klaus Dibiasi became the firstborn Olympic diver to win three successive gold medals, and to win medals in four Olympic Games.

o	The US and East Germany eclipsed the swimming events. Only Great Britain’s David Wilkie and the Soviet Union’s Marina Koshevaya (both winning their 200m finals in record times) disturb the monopoly.

Moscow 1980

As a result of the US-led boycott in protest at the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, only 80 countries were represented at the Moscow Games [http://www.nike-trainers.com]. Notable absentees included Japan, West Germany, and the US. Western countries have oftentimes referred to the Moscow Games as being of a low standard, and have raised doubts when it comes to the sporting value of the results and medals. Nonetheless, altho not of the most eminent calibre, the Moscow Games were scarcely sub-standard: 36 world records, 39 European records, and 73 Olympic records bore testimony to the high level of talent and contest on display.

Olympic Highlights

o	Soviet swimmer Vladimir Salnikov won three gold medals: in the 400m and 1,500m freestyle, and 4x200m relay. He was also the original to swim 1,500m in a time of less than 15 minutes.

o	British middle-distance runners Steve Ovett and Sebastian Coe faced each other in two unforgettable duels. In the 800m, Ovett won the gold medal just in front of his compatriot. Six days later, a determined Coe redeemed himself in the 1,500m, taking gold while Ovett could only manage bronze.

o	By winning the decathlon, Great Britain’s Daley Thompson became “king of the athletes”, beating home crowd favourite Yuri Kutsenko into second place.

Los Angeles 1984

Although a revenge boycott led by the Soviet Union depleted the field in sure sports, a record 140 nations took percentage in the original privately financed tournament in Olympic history. More than 30 sponsors together contributed more than $500 million, while other companies financed the building of new sports facilities, in a deal that permitted them to promote on the admittance tickets. The ABC television network remunerated $225 million for the exclusive television rights, thereby ensuring that most events started in the evenings for the duration of prime television time in the US. With these tremendous amounts of cash involved, galore critics kept the view that what had once been a festival of novice sport was now a strictly mercantile spectacle.

Olympic Highlights

o	American diver Greg Louganis remained unbeaten from the 3m springboard as well as from the 10m platform.

o	Sebastian Coe became the introductory repeat winner of the men’s 1,500m.

o	In the women’s 400m hurdles, Nawal El Moutawakel led from start out to finish, getting the introductory Moroccan athlete to win a gold medal.

o	British decathlete gold medallist Daley Thompson finished just one point off the world record.

Seoul 1988

Happily, the large-scale boycotts of Moscow and Los Angeles did not reoccur at Seoul. For the introductory time in 12 years, all leading Olympic nations, except Cuba and Ethiopia, took percentage in the Olympic Games. Although the drug disqualification of sprinter Ben Johnson became the greatest story of the 1988 Olympics, the Seoul Games were highlighted by a great deal of special performances and 27 new world records. Once again the Soviet Union (55 gold medals) and East Germany (37) demonstrated their sporting superiority over the Western nations by finishing firstborn and second in the medal table.

Olympic Highlights

o	American swimmer Matt Biondi won seven medals, including five gold. His gold medals came in the 50m and 100m freestyle, and all three relays.

o	Soviet pole-vaulter Serguei Bubka won his original gold medal, clearing 5.90m at the third attempt. Despite being a world record holder and dominating the sport for 14 years (1983-97), it was his only Olympic medal.

o	West German speed skater and cyclist Christa Luding-Rothenburger made Olympic history after getting the primary person to win Summer and Winter Olympic medals in the same year. After winning gold and silver in the speed skating at Calgary, she won silver in the 1,000m sprint cycling.

Barcelona 1992

Spanish IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch brought the Games to his home city of Barcelona, expressing his gratitude to the Games’ sponsors at the final celebrations. The IOC received millions of dollars in revenue from the sale of television broadcasting rights, though a heap of athletes complained that the begin times of numerous events were arranged to suit primetime television advertising slots. Teams from a post-apartheid South Africa and a merged Germany were welcomed back onto the world stage. Men’s basketball was open to masters for the firstborn time, permitting the creation of an American “Dream Team”, which included Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley.

Olympic Highlights

o	Spaniard Fermin Cacho Ruiz was not one of the favourites in the 1,500m. Taking

advantage of the fact that the race was run at an unusually slow pace, he started his sprint with half a lap to go and with the crowd behind him, took gold, getting the primary Spanish runner ever to win a gold medal.

o	Great Britain’s Linford Christie is the oldest man (32 years) to win Olympic gold in the 100m. He added the World Championship title the following year.

o	In the almost fought women’s 100m, Jamaican Merlene Ottey was just 0.06 seconds behind the winner yet still only finished in fifth place.

Atlanta 1996

The 1996 Atlanta Games were given a poignant begin when the cauldron was lit by a visibly shaking Muhammad All, by this time suffering from Parkinson’s disease. On 27 July, for the duration of a concert kept in the Centennial Olympic Park, a terrorist bomb killed one person and injured a further 110 people, but the Atlanta Games are best remembered for their sporting achievements, including Michael Johnson’s extraordinary 200m and 400m double victory. A record-setting 79 nations won medals, 53 of them winning gold.

Olympic Highlights

o	Russian swimmer Aleksandr Popov won two gold medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle – overtaking American swimmer Gary Hall, Jr on both occasions – and two silver medals in the relays.

o	Maim Suleymanoglu of Turkey became the basi weightlifler to win three successive Olympic titles.

o	American Michael Johnson’s double gold over 200m and 400m was the primary for a man in Olympic history.

Sydney 2000

The Sydney Games were the biggest yet, with 10,651 athletes competing in 300 events. Despite their size, the Games were well organized, renewing faith in the Olympic Movement. Athletes from North and South Korea marched together underneath the same flag, while four athletes from East Timor (it only became a sovereign state in 2002) were permitted to participate beneath the Olympic flag as person athletes. Cathy Freeman, an indigenous Australian, was given the honour of lighting the Olympic flame in the opening ceremony, and repaid the compliment by winning the 400m final in front of an ecstatic home crowd.

o	17-year-old Australian swimming sensation Ian Thorpe won his original gold medal in the 400m freestyle by breaking his own world record. He then swam the anchor leg in the 4x100m freestyle to win again. A third gold came from the 4x200m freestyle, and he added a silver medal in the 200m freestyle.

I had seen Michael Antonio shoes someplace but could not place why they stood out in a crowd. Oh my God, they were featured on “Launch My Line” on Bravo. You know when a sure style of shoe catches your eye and sticks in your mind; all of sudden you have the entire outfit planned if only you could locate the shoe?

Shoes have become our artful adventure that take simple fabric and transform it from low-key and unimpressive to in a professional manner coifed and exciting. What I love with regards to Michael Antonio shoes is that you may look like a million bucks on a budget.

Want to push the boundaries and take a good deal of risk? Try on the Midnight Stretch 3-Way boot; wear it tall to thigh-high endeavors or slouched down beneath the knee or all the way dropped to the ankle. The skillfulness is a compliment to a wide range of outfits in an lowcost price.

And…this boot comes in exotic zebra which is an accolade to 2010′s vibrancy; of course the boot likewise comes in black and a few other colors but woman ought to crusade out-of-the box more often. Ask yourself, “who are you and how may you express yourself?”

There are very few danger takers who welcome the ‘splash’ in life. Most persons choose safe and secure on the color spectrum. Michael Antonio Shoes may put a bit of zest in 2010. I want to welcome the New Year like a lion and enliven my life; keep the ebullience going with bold, fresh colors and dynamic styles. These shoes are unconventional and construct bold statements.

Take the Michael Antonio’s Madlyn Ankle Boot – snaps you to attention with a crisp silhouette. Its military inspired, comes in a bold red and has been featured on the New York runways. The “Madlyn” is a must-have for your shoe collection.

And numerous pumps to-die-for is are the Keiran Peep Toe Pump in a bold reptile print. Take your black staple suits in your wardrobe and pair with this show-stopper; the Lirit Pump in a deep turquoise/green color. This shoe is a bit on the safe side but will stand out very well for woman in the 9to5 office environment; finally, the Laxfield Pump in a zebra print with a fire red lining. The shoe will have to have been called vixen because it says “look and me and love it.”

Another substantial positive for Michael Antonio shoes are that you’ll detect his shoes are everyplace – and I do mean everywhere. New York runways, television shoes, the hottest magazines and yet they are still lowcost for each day woman. I like the accessibility.

So  let’s  reflect  on  the  must-have’s  of  this  collection;

1. Madlyn Ankle Boot

2. Midnight Stretch 3-Way Boot

3. Keiran Peep Toe Pump

4. Lirit Pump

5. Laxfield Pump

The smallest details may transform a look. Seal your message with your shoes; what statement are you attempting to make? Gorgeous, mysterious, romantic or sexy – your shoe may play the pivotal role in what you are representing. Michael Antonio shoes will let the crowd listen you earsplitting and clear.

King
I love the way these boots look on my feet, but by the end of the day my feet hurt so badly I can hardly walk. Initally I ordered my normal shoe size but had to return them because they were to small; I could not zip the zipper on the heel. When I rec’d the new ones they fit as they were supposed to, but due to the way they are made and how tall they are I have nicknamed them “my chinese torture devices”.

I do wear them to work but am currently looking for a regular pair of platform heels to replace them. These are only to be worn for a few hours at a time… NOT ALL DAY or AT WORK.

When I order online I always size up to a 10 since I can’t try them on. 10s are always a bit roomy on me but I prefer roomy to too small or tight. I ordered these in blue size 10. First of all, I LOVE the (faux) leather/suede look. Love that they are a pump style boot. The problem? They do not fit! Like the other reviewer, I also had trouble zipping the boot closed. I tried walking around unzipped and that wasn’t good because you need stability in a boot of this height. By the way, I am a seasoned heel wearer (4 inches and up) so the heel height doesn’t bother me. It seems as though the toe bed portion of the boot is short. I can see that my toes are bent up inside the boot. No matter how good these boots look, there’s no way I can successfully and comfortably walk around in them.

I’m not sure if sizing up more than 1 size will work for you because when the boots are unzipped, my foot flops so for me the problem is the toe bed. If you have shorter toes they may work for you.

Rome 1960

Rome had been chosen to stage the 1908 Olympic Games, but the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in southern Italy had intervened. It was galore 52 years later that the Games in the long run arrived in the Italian capital. The Rome games were broadcast by television to all European countries and were watched by millions. However, the competitions themselves were eclipsed by the rivalry among the US and the USSR. In the final medal table the USSR finished in front of the US by 43 to 34 gold medals.

Olympic Highlights

o	Running barefoot, Ethiopian athlete Abebe Bikila did not go unnoticed when he entered the marathon. He refused to be daunted by the condescending remarks and left all his opponents behind to cross the finishing line victorious, near Constantine’s triumphal arch.

o	Aged 20, Wilma Rudolph became the original American woman to win three gold athletics medals in one Olympiad: in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. She achieved this extraordinary feat in spite of suffering from a string of childhood impairment of normal physiological functions and recovering from a deformed leg caused by polio.

o	Cassius Marcellus Clay, later known as MuhammadM/, firstgai/ied r’nfernaffonaf prominence by winning the light-heavyweight gold medal. He would later turn professional and embark on a extraordinary career.

Tokyo 1964

For the original time, the Olympic Games were hosted in Asia, Japan invested to a great extent in the most modern sports facilities as well as in bettering the infrastructure of a city containing over 10 million people. However, the high standards set by athletes at the Tokyo Games led numerous critics to warn in regards to exaggerated expected values for the future development of the Olympic disciplines.

Olympic Highlights

o	Australian swimmer Dawn Fraser (see p.21) won her third successive gold medal in the 100m freestyle. She was the original woman swimmer to win eight medals (four gold and four silver) – over three Olympics.

o	Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina (see p.20) added six more medals to her tally, getting the initial woman to win nine Olympic gold medals.

o	Deszo Gyarmati won gold with the Hungarian water polo team, therefore achieving the (then) distinguishable feat of winning medals at five successive Olympic Games

Mexico City 1968

Mexico City’s high altitude – closely 2,240m (7,350ft) above sea level eclipsed much of the pre-Games discussion: the consensus being that athletes from lowland countries would be at a disadvantage. However assorted weeks of high-altitude training heightened the performances of a lot of of these athletes. There were violent riots in the run-up to the Games, following complaints in regards to the exorbitant amounts of cash being invested in Olympic facilities in contrast to Mexico’s own social problems. Controversy likewise arose over South Africa’s participation at these Games and the IOC withdrew it is invitation underneath pressure. Doping controls were introduced for the original time and a Swedish athlete was disqualified for having too much alcohol in his bloodstream.

Olympic Highlights

o	American Bob Beamon was the favored in the long jump but he exceeded all expectations. His jump of 8.90m beat the world record by 0.55m.

o	Czech gymnast Vera Caslavska won four gold and two silver medals. These victories were given extra signification by beating the Soviet gymnasts shortly after Soviet tanks had invaded her homeland.

o	American Debbie Meyer became the basi woman swimmer to win three person gold medals at one Olympic Games.

Munich 1972

The 1972 Munich Games were the greatest yet, setting records in all categories, with 195 events and 7,134 athletes from 121 nations. The Games were supposed to celebrate peace, and for the initial 10 days all went well. All other details with regards to the Munich Games paled in significance.

Olympic Highlights

o	Finnish distance runner Lasse Viren fell halfway through the 10,000m final, but still set a new world record to win the basi of his four career gold medals.

o	The media star of the Munich Games was the petite Soviet gymnast Olga Korbut, whose three gold medals helped establish Soviet dominance in the female gymnastics events and captured the attention of fans worldwide.

She achieved her original perfective 10 on the uneven parallel bars, and the judges awarded her the greatest or most complete or best possible mark seven times.

o	With his victory in platform diving, Italian Klaus Dibiasi became the initial Olympic diver to win three successive gold medals, and to win medals in four Olympic Games.

o	The US and East Germany overshadowed the swimming events.

Western countries have often referred to the Moscow Games as being of a low standard, and have raised doubts with regards to the sporting value of the results and medals. Nonetheless, though not of the most eminent calibre, the Moscow Games were hardly sub-standard: 36 world records, 39 European records, and 73 Olympic records bore testimony to the high level of talent and contest on display.

Olympic Highlights

o	Soviet swimmer Vladimir Salnikov won three gold medals: in the 400m and 1,500m freestyle, and 4x200m relay. He was likewise the primary to swim 1,500m in a time of less than 15 minutes.

o	British middle-distance runners Steve Ovett and Sebastian Coe faced each other in two unforgettable duels.

Although a revenge boycott led by the Soviet Union depleted the field in sure sports, a record 140 nations took portion in the initial privately financed tournament in Olympic history. More than 30 sponsors together contributed more than $500 million, while other companies furnished the building of new sports facilities, in a deal that permitted them to publicize on the admittance tickets. The ABC television network paid $225 million for the exclusive television rights, thereby ensuring that most events started in the evenings for the duration of prime television time in the US. With these immense amounts of cash involved, a lot of critics held the view that what had once been a festival of novice sport was now a strictly mercantile spectacle.

Olympic Highlights

o	American diver Greg Louganis remained unbeaten from the 3m springboard as well as from the 10m platform.

o	Sebastian Coe became the basi repeat winner of the men’s 1,500m.

o	In the women’s 400m hurdles, Nawal El Moutawakel led from commence to finish, getting the primary Moroccan athlete to win a gold medal.

o	British decathlete gold medallist Daley Thompson finished just one point off the world record.

Seoul 1988

Happily, the large-scale boycotts of Moscow and Los Angeles did not reoccur at Seoul. For the primary time in 12 years, all leading Olympic nations, except Cuba and Ethiopia, took share in the Olympic Games. Although the drug disqualification of sprinter Ben Johnson became the biggest story of the 1988 Olympics, the Seoul Games were highlighted by a heap of special performances and 27 new world records. Once again the Soviet Union (55 gold medals) and East Germany (37) demonstrated their sporting superiority over the Western nations by finishing primary and second in the medal table.

The IOC received millions of dollars in revenue from the sale of television broadcasting rights, even though a lot of athletes complained that the begin times of galore events were arranged to suit primetime television advertising slots. Teams from a post-apartheid South Africa and a merged Germany were welcomed back onto the world stage. Men’s basketball was open to pros for the basi time, permitting the creation of an American “Dream Team”, which included Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley.

Olympic Highlights

o	Spaniard Fermin Cacho Ruiz was not one of the favourites in the 1,500m. Taking

advantage of the fact that the race was run at an unusually slow pace, he started his sprint with half a lap to go and with the crowd behind him, took gold, getting the firstborn Spanish runner ever to win a gold medal.

o	Great Britain’s Linford Christie is the oldest man (32 years) to win Olympic gold in the 100m.

On 27 July, for the duration of a concert held in the Centennial Olympic Park, a terrorist bomb killed one person and injured a further 110 people, but the Atlanta Games are best remembered for their sporting achievements, including Michael Johnson’s extraordinary 200m and 400m double victory. A record-setting 79 nations won medals, 53 of them winning gold.

Sydney 2000

The Sydney Games were the greatest yet, with 10,651 athletes competing in 300 events. Despite their size, the Games were well organized, renewing faith in the Olympic Movement. Athletes from North and South Korea marched together beneath the same flag, while four athletes from East Timor (it only became a sovereign state in 2002) were permitted to participate underneath the Olympic flag as person athletes.
So you want to be a celebrity bodyguard: do you have discretion?

One necessary skill that you need as a bodyguard is discretion. Discretion is the skill of keeping mysteries and not disclosing data to people who ought to not recognise it. One difficultness to being a personal bodyguard is you have to treat your occupation as if you are in the CIA. You may never percentage any selective information with anyone. Never. Ever. You never know when it’s going to come back and haunt you. So what I’m saying is learn how to keep your mouth shut.

As a celebrity bodyguard you listen and see a lot of things, and celebrities live a very interesting life. You are so close to somebody and are around them all the time, so there is no room for modesty or having to rectify oneself. The celebrity ought to be capable to feel free sufficient to be themselves and convinced it will not be a public issue.

The National Enquirer and other tabloids will recompense you a lot of cash for a good deal of of the mysteries you’ll know. But you’ll never be competent to work in this industry again if you say anything to anyone. Being discreet is perchance the most necessary ‘skill’ required to be successful as a professional bodyguard. When you are dealing with anyone’s life, in particular one in regards to whom the public is desperate to know, you always have to think before you speak, whether to family, friends, fans or reporters. I make it a point of NEVER asking a celebrity with regards to his or her personal life. If and when the celebrity becomes comfortable with me, and we have built a kinship based on trust, he or she will oftentimes fetch it up.”

You may think something as harmless as giving your celebrity’s home address to a company you’re buying something from is not one thing big. But who knows who’s taking your order? It could be a crazed fan. So you have to have a secure mailing address to get packages.

Remember you are the buffer amid the outside world and your celebrity. That means you have to learn how to fend off the press as well. Maybe you’re setting up a party for your boss and galore nice looking gal or guy wants to know where it’s going to be. You have to keep that selective information from them at all costs. Get employed to repeating yourself and saying, “He/she can’t give an consultation right now. Thanks for your interest.” You’ll get to recognise what you need to say, but basically, you’re revealing nothing. That’s the point.

Overall, what’s expected is everything it takes to make the life of your celebrity easier, more comfortable, and the main thing SAFER, and that will vary according to with whom you’re working. Anticipating needs is a huge one– being competent to look at a circumstance and determine what may go faulty and make sure it doesn’t; or knowing how to fix a problem once it occurs (which requires you to acquaint yourself with all the players, their jobs, and who has the power to make the problem go away, quickly), which means you better have galore terrific relationships in place. This, of course, takes time and experience.”

Without the club coach, there would be no volleyball. It is he who brings in young athletes, even keeping them from opting for basketball or an technology degree. We have to give space to all of them and refrain from what happened in the United States, where, with no national championship tournament, new blood was missing out and once the superstar cycle was over, the national team plunged from it is once top ranking. The euphoria in Bamako -the capital city of Mali- was immense. More and more Malians girls now want to become basketball players such as Hamchétou Maiga and Diéné Diawara. Hamchétou was elected “Most Valuable Player” of the African Championship in Dakar (Senegal). As a lot of of these players were juniors five years ago, they necessitated time to grow in each sense. We gradually introduced them for the duration of the events and “threw them into the line of fire”, so that they themselves made their way through.

Early female comic book characters were fixed to supporting roles or used as damsels in distress. They were the Lois Lanes and Lana Langs; characters that mattered to a sure extent, but not as much as the male leads. But since comics were principally marketed to the male population, this was adequate for the purpose and expected.

With the role of women getting more prominent in society in later years, though, more and more female comic book characters took on more spectacular roles, like Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl. These women were not plainly supporting characters, but lead characters who took a backseat to no one as they trail blazed the way for the future of female comic book characters.

In innovative times, female comic book characters are as diverse and ample as their male counterparts. Whether in the superhero genre or respective other genres, more and more women characters are seen each day. This is particularly the case in Manga, the Japanese comic book form, and Anime, it’s television equal. The bulk of these stories are primarily purposed towards a female audience and thence feature lead female comic book characters like Cardcaptor Sakura.

Traditionally, superhero comics with female leads have been hard sells for whatsoever reason. Many heroines have had their own series only to be canceled after only a few issues. There are a few exceptions, though, like Birds of Prey, a DC Comics book that features a team of female comic book characters fighting crime, which has lasted well over 100 issues. And Marvel Comics’ Spider-Girl, featuring Spider-Man’s daughter, May Parker, which was saved from cancellation three times thanks to fan support.

In the early 2000s, Crossgen Comics also invented assorted books with strong female leads, like Sojourn, Meridian and Crux, that forced other companies to take another look at their own female comic book characters. Today, Ms. Marvel and Catwoman are both doing well with their own titles, and Image’s Bomb Queen has had various mini-series and proceeds to carry a strong fan base. And when noted female comic book characters, one can’t forget Aspen Comics’ Aspen Matthews and her book Fathom, which became popular in the 90s and still has a strong following even even though it’s not presently devising a great deal of issues.

The rise of strong female comic book characters, in particular in superhero comics, is plainly intended to extend the audience beyond the typical target market, giving female readers something to relate to as well. And with female characters stepping up even in male eclipsed team books, like Emma Frost and Storm in the X-Men books, will have to comic companies proceed to cater to this growing audience it will have to reach it is goal. And more readers for comics is always a good thing for the medium.

Rome 1960

Rome had been chosen to stage the 1908 Olympic Games, but the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in southern Italy had intervened. It was galore 52 years later that the Games at last arrived in the Italian capital. The Rome games were broadcast by television to all European countries and were watched by millions. However, the competitions themselves were overshadowed by the rivalry amongst the US and the USSR. In the final medal table the USSR finished in front of the US by 43 to 34 gold medals.

Olympic Highlights

o	Running barefoot, Ethiopian athlete Abebe Bikila did not go unnoticed when he entered the marathon. He refused to be daunted by the condescending remarks and left all his opponents behind to cross the finishing line victorious, near Constantine’s triumphal arch.

o	Aged 20, Wilma Rudolph became the firstborn American woman to win three gold athletics medals in one Olympiad: in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

Tokyo 1964

For the primary time, the Olympic Games were hosted in Asia, Japan invested to a great extent in the most modern sports facilities as well as in bettering the infrastructure of a city containing over 10 million people. However, the high standards set by athletes at the Tokyo Games led a great deal of critics to warn when it comes to exaggerated expected values for the future development of the Olympic disciplines.

Olympic Highlights

o	Australian swimmer Dawn Fraser (see p.21) won her third successive gold medal in the 100m freestyle. She was the original woman swimmer to win eight medals (four gold and four silver) – over three Olympics.

o	Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina (see p.20) added six more medals to her tally, getting the primary woman to win nine Olympic gold medals.

o	Deszo Gyarmati won gold with the Hungarian water polo team, therefore achieving the (then) distinctive feat of winning medals at five successive Olympic Games

Mexico City 1968

Mexico City’s high altitude – closely 2,240m (7,350ft) above sea level eclipsed much of the pre-Games discussion: the consensus being that athletes from lowland countries would be at a disadvantage. However various weeks of high-altitude training intensified the performances of some of these athletes. There were violent riots in the run-up to the Games, following complaints regarding the exorbitant amounts of cash being invested in Olympic facilities in contrast to Mexico’s own social problems. Controversy also arose over South Africa’s participation at these Games and the IOC withdrew it is invitation under pressure. Doping controls were introduced for the basi time and a Swedish athlete was disqualified for having too much alcohol in his bloodstream.

Olympic Highlights

o	American Bob Beamon was the bestloved in the long jump but he exceeded all expectations. His jump of 8.90m beat the world record by 0.55m.

o	Czech gymnast Vera Caslavska won four gold and two silver medals. These victories were given extra signification by beating the Soviet gymnasts shortly after Soviet tanks had invaded her homeland.

o	American Debbie Meyer became the primary woman swimmer to win three person gold medals at one Olympic Games.

Munich 1972

The 1972 Munich Games were the greatest yet, setting records in all categories, with 195 events and 7,134 athletes from 121 nations. The Games were supposed to celebrate peace, and for the basi 10 days all went well. The Olympics were suspended and a memorial service was held in the main stadium. In defiance of the terrorists, the International Olympic Committee ordered the competitions to resume after a pause of 34 hours. All other details regarding the Munich Games paled in significance.

Olympic Highlights

o	Finnish distance runner Lasse Viren fell halfway through the 10,000m final, but still set a new world record to win the initial of his four career gold medals.

o	The media star of the Munich Games was the petite Soviet gymnast Olga Korbut, whose three gold medals helped establish Soviet dominance in the female gymnastics events and captured the attention of fans worldwide.

Montreal 1976

The 1976 Montreal Games were marred by the boycott of 22 African nations protesting the fact that in spite of the New Zealand rugby team touring South Africa in defiance of international sporting sanctions, New Zealand was still permitted to compete. To compound the situation, the host nation suffered an unusually long winter, industrial disputes, and a lack of funds, which made it out of the question to finish work on the Olympic facilities in time for the opening ceremony. However, the performances of the athletes did not suffer from the political and national disputes. Despite the problems, the Games were well organized and, following the 1972 terrorist attack in Munich, security was tight.

Olympic Highlights

o	Nadia Comaneci was the star of the Games. She achieved her basi perfective 10 on the uneven parallel bars, and the judges awarded her the greatest or most complete or best possible mark seven times.

o	With his victory in platform diving, Italian Klaus Dibiasi became the original Olympic diver to win three successive gold medals, and to win medals in four Olympic Games.

o	The US and East Germany eclipsed the swimming events.

Western countries have often referred to the Moscow Games as being of a low standard, and have raised doubts regarding the sporting value of the results and medals. Nonetheless, even though not of the most eminent calibre, the Moscow Games were scarcely sub-standard: 36 world records, 39 European records, and 73 Olympic records bore testimony to the high level of talent and contest on display.

Olympic Highlights

o	Soviet swimmer Vladimir Salnikov won three gold medals: in the 400m and 1,500m freestyle, and 4x200m relay. He was likewise the initial to swim 1,500m in a time of less than 15 minutes.

o	British middle-distance runners Steve Ovett and Sebastian Coe faced each other in two unforgettable duels.

Although a revenge boycott led by the Soviet Union depleted the field in sure sports, a record 140 nations took part in the original privately financed tournament in Olympic history. More than 30 sponsors together contributed more than $500 million, while other companies financed the building of new sports facilities, in a deal that permitted them to promote on the admittance tickets. The ABC television network paid $225 million for the exclusive television rights, thereby ensuring that most events started in the evenings for the duration of prime television time in the US. With these vast amounts of cash involved, a great deal of critics held the view that what had once been a festival of novice sport was now a strictly mercantile spectacle.

Olympic Highlights

o	American diver Greg Louganis remained unbeaten from the 3m springboard as well as from the 10m platform.

o	Sebastian Coe became the original repeat winner of the men’s 1,500m.

o	In the women’s 400m hurdles, Nawal El Moutawakel led from get started to finish, getting the firstborn Moroccan athlete to win a gold medal.

o	British decathlete gold medallist Daley Thompson finished just one point off the world record.

Seoul 1988

Happily, the large-scale boycotts of Moscow and Los Angeles did not reoccur at Seoul. For the basi time in 12 years, all leading Olympic nations, except Cuba and Ethiopia, took percentage in the Olympic Games. Although the drug disqualification of sprinter Ben Johnson became the biggest story of the 1988 Olympics, the Seoul Games were highlighted by numerous particular performances and 27 new world records. Once again the Soviet Union (55 gold medals) and East Germany (37) demonstrated their sporting superiority over the Western nations by finishing firstborn and second in the medal table.

Olympic Highlights

o	American swimmer Matt Biondi won seven medals, including five gold. His gold medals came in the 50m and 100m freestyle, and all three relays.

o	Soviet pole-vaulter Serguei Bubka won his basi gold medal, clearing 5.90m at the third attempt. Despite being a world record holder and dominating the sport for 14 years (1983-97), it was his only Olympic medal.

o	West German speed skater and cyclist Christa Luding-Rothenburger made Olympic history after getting the original person to win Summer and Winter Olympic medals in the same year.

The IOC received millions of dollars in revenue from the sale of television broadcasting rights, even though a heap of athletes complained that the start out times of a good deal of events were arranged to suit primetime television promotion slots. Teams from a post-apartheid South Africa and a merged Germany were welcomed back onto the world stage. Men’s basketball was open to pros for the initial time, permitting the creation of an American “Dream Team”, which included Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley.

Olympic Highlights

o	French runner Marie-Jose Perec won the 200m and 400m, breaking the 400m Olympic record and getting the original woman to win the 400m at two successive Olympics. She is the most successful French female athlete of all time.

o	Russian swimmer Aleksandr Popov won two gold medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle – overtaking American swimmer Gary Hall, Jr on both occasions – and two silver medals in the relays.

o	Maim Suleymanoglu of Turkey became the primary weightlifler to win three successive Olympic titles.

o	American Michael Johnson’s double gold over 200m and 400m was the original for a man in Olympic history.

Sydney 2000

The Sydney Games were the biggest yet, with 10,651 athletes competing in 300 events. Despite their size, the Games were well organized, renewing faith in the Olympic Movement. Athletes from North and South Korea marched together under the same flag, while four athletes from East Timor (it only became a sovereign state in 2002) were permitted to participate beneath the Olympic flag as person athletes. Cathy Freeman, an indigenous Australian, was given the honour of lighting the Olympic flame in the opening ceremony, and repaid the compliment by winning the 400m final in front of an ecstatic home crowd.

Olympic Highlights

o	After being kept away from competitions for over a year by severe shoulder and back problems, French judo champion David Douillet won his second successive Olympic gold by beating Shinichi Shinohara of Japan in an stimulating final.

o	17-year-old Australian swimming sensation Ian Thorpe won his primary gold medal in the 400m freestyle by breaking his own world record. He then swam the anchor leg in the 4x100m freestyle to win again. A third gold came from the 4x200m freestyle, and he added a silver medal in the 200m freestyle.

o	German canoeist Birgit Fischer won two golds in the K-2 and K-4 500m to become the original female Olympian to win medals 20 years apart.

Athens 2004

In 2004 the Olympic Games returned to Greece, home of both the ancient Olympics and the initial progressed Olympics, For the introductory time ever, a record 201 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated in the Olympic Games, The overall tally for events on the programme was 301 (one more than in Sydney 2000). The popularity of the Games soared to new heights as 3.9 billion people had access to the television coverage, equated to 3.6 billion for Sydney 2000.

Olympic Highlights

o	Moroccan Hicham El Guerrouj became the basi runner since Paavo Nurmi in 1924 to win both the 1,500m and the 5,000m. In the 1,500m, he was passed by Bernard Lagat in the home stretch, but came back to win. In the 5,000m, he came from behind to defeat 10,000m champion Kenenisa Bekele.

o	Turkish weightlifter Nurcan Taylan won the gold medal in the women’s 48kg category. She was the firstborn Turkish woman in any sport to win an Olympic championship.

o	Argentina’s men’s basketball team put an end to the domination of the US’s professionals, defeating them 89-81 in the semi-finals. The Argentinians went on to beat Italy 84-69 in the final.

I had seen Michael Antonio shoes someplace but could not place why they stood out in a crowd. Oh my God, they were featured on “Launch My Line” on Bravo. You recognise when a sure style of shoe catches your eye and sticks in your mind; all of sudden you have the entire outfit planned if only you could locate the shoe?

Shoes have become our artful adventure that take simple fabric and transform it from low-key and unimpressive to in a professional manner coifed and exciting. What I love in regards to Michael Antonio shoes is that you may look like a million bucks on a budget.

Want to push the boundaries and take a great deal of risk? Try on the Midnight Stretch 3-Way boot; wear it tall to thigh-high endeavors or slouched down underneath the knee or all the way dropped to the ankle. The skillfulness is a compliment to a wide range of outfits in an lowcost price.

And…this boot comes in exotic zebra which is an accolade to 2010′s vibrancy; of course the boot also comes in black and a few other colors but woman must effort out-of-the box more often. Ask yourself, “who are you and how may you express yourself?”

There are very few risk takers who welcome the ‘splash’ in life. Most people choose safe and secure on the color spectrum. Michael Antonio Shoes may put a bit of zest in 2010. I want to welcome the New Year like a lion and enliven my life; keep the ebullience going with bold, fresh colors and dynamic styles. These shoes are unconventional and develop bold statements.

Take the Michael Antonio’s Madlyn Ankle Boot – snaps you to attention with a crisp silhouette. Its military inspired, comes in a bold red and has been featured on the New York runways. The “Madlyn” is a must-have for your shoe collection.

And a lot of pumps to-die-for is are the Keiran Peep Toe Pump in a bold reptile print. The shoe must have been called vixen because it says “look and me and love it.”

What I love regarding Michael Antonio shoes is that you may look like a million bucks on a budget.

Want to push the boundaries and take a lot of risk? Try on the Midnight Stretch 3-Way boot; wear it tall to thigh-high endeavors or slouched down under the knee or all the way dropped to the ankle. The skillfulness is a compliment to a wide range of outfits in an lowpriced price.

And…this boot comes in exotic zebra which is an accolade to 2010′s vibrancy; of course the boot also comes in black and a few other colors but woman will have to crusade out-of-the box more often. Ask yourself, “who are you and how may you express yourself?”

There are very few peril takers who welcome the ‘splash’ in life. Most persons choose safe and secure on the color spectrum. Michael Antonio Shoes may put a bit of zest in 2010. I want to welcome the New Year like a lion and enliven my life; keep the ebullience going with bold, fresh colors and dynamic styles. These shoes are unconventional and create bold statements.

Take the Michael Antonio’s Madlyn Ankle Boot – snaps you to attention with a crisp silhouette. Akin
I genuinely purchased these on another site, but what I found is they look so much better on than just what the photo shows. fit actually snug which is good when you are wearing a 5″ heel. It says they are only 4″ but they are 5. I have narrow feet and fit me just right and the synthetic material the shoe is made of is good quality and they are put together well. outstanding shoe for the price. I commend them.
