Everywhere you turn, it's DIY home repair, DIY interior design, DIY electronics repair (unless you're an electrician, I'm gonna advise you to stay away from that one!), and the list goes on and on. But what about that little four letter word that haunts most of us at one time or another?

D-E-B-T.

Yep, debt. If we don't handle our debts exactly the right way or run into some sort of financial troubles, our credit can suffer and then we'll have bad credit. So many people are suffering needlessly from the stigma of bad credit, and from all the other problems that go along with having bad credit. You can't buy a new car when you need one. You can't get a loan for a house when you find the perfect place. You can't get a credit card. Or how about this: You can't get a job! With many employers running credit checks as part of the pre-employment screening process, your bad credit could disqualify you completely from certain jobs and take points away from your otherwise good record. This is a good enough reason alone to take the bull by the horns and clean up that credit.

And you truly can do it yourself. Lynn Carnes and I have teamed up on this one and have several articles on the WomenCorp site to get you started. Check out our Squidoo lens, too.

If you're ready to get started right away, just go here, read the information, and you'll be on your way to a brand new life. The kind of good life that awaits you when you have good credit! Here's to your fabulous future!
-- Get more tips, advice and coaching at WomenCorp

Boost Your Energy Today!

Check out the new post by women's fitness expert Heather Picken on the site today. If you're like most business women, you're always on the go, always busy, and very often exhausted. What to do?

No, lattes are not the answer...and not even one of those pricey energy drinks. Heather really knows her stuff when it comes to fat loss for women (and we all know that's a tricky one - especially when we pass 30!) and women's particular fitness challenges. We're happy to have her as one of our contributing authors and look forward to more of her helpful advice.

Enjoy!

Roxanne
-- Get more tips, advice and coaching at WomenCorp

What Do Your Clients Really Want?

We've made a few changes around here at WomenCorp - all to make things better for you!

One of our newer articles from Elinor Stutz will help you as your build your business. As promised, check out the latest magazine, hot off the Internet...

http://www.womencorp.org

One thing I always find, no matter where I go, is that women are busy. Too busy! Most of us have 10 or 15 different hats we wear and can change them, "at the drop of a hat", as needed to fit the situation. It's so hard to relax - if we ever have the time. But, relaxing is important. Perhaps it is the most important. So stop first, take a few minutes - just five little minutes - to relax, breathe deeply, and watch this video prepared by our very own career coach, Lynn Carnes. If you've seen it before, see it again. Then, check out the rest of the magazine. Studies show that regular relaxation actually boosts our productivity.

And there is so much more...so go take a peek now..

http://www.womencorp.org

Let us know what you like and what you'd like to see more of. Albeit, a mighty thin blanket, but a blanket nonetheless. Unfortunately, it didn't last the day. The ground was so relatively warm that the melt began almost immediately. And now, so many of us are stuck with extra bread and milk and the recipes for cornbread made with loaf bread, milk, and a dash of cornmeal are hitting the emails already.

Have you checked out the WomenCorp site lately? Hard to believe we've only been publishing this since last August. We've come a long ways since then! A lot of new friends, a few new partners on the site, and a lot of great new content.

Today, why don't you go check out one of our newer partners, Jennifer Siebel, founder of Women’s Independent Cinema. Jennifer's just starting to produce content for us and the first piece is a movie trailer from "Amuse Bouche: A Chef's Tale". Watch it and let us know what you think. All the movies are produced by independent women filmmakers from around the world - most you've never even heard of before. This is a fantastic way to discover new films and talented new filmmakers and to explore topics of interest to women. Okay, go on, check it out!

Talk to you again soon,

Roxanne
-- Get more tips, advice and coaching at WomenCorp

Snow in Alabama: Winter Weather

It's been so long since Alabama got real winter weather, we just don't know what to do! The weather guys are predicting snow tonight and tomorrow for Alabama and now there's no bread or milk at the supermarket. What's with that?!?

Now, if you don't know much about Alabama, you've got to understand that most people here (unless they've done time above the Mason Dixon line) can't drive in the snow. So when it snows, because we don't have sanding trucks and shovel trucks to clean the roads, everything closes. Pretty much everything. Wherever you are, you're stranded. Most people just "hunker down" and plan to spend the days (that's how long it takes to melt) at home. We're counting on having electricity...

Well, if it actually does snow, we all have bread and milk and that sure sounds tasty, huh? And, if it snows, I'll be sitting here in front of my computer (provided there is electricity) and maybe I'll post something over the weekend - a picture of Alabama snow maybe?

Have a super weekend and check out a new article on the WomenCorp site from Kimberly Lainson and get some great ideas on what you can do to liven those boring days!
-- Get more tips, advice and coaching at WomenCorp

13 Tips for Using Photos & Graphics in Your Publicity Campaign

Joan Stewart, AKA the Publicity Hound, has done it again! One of the issues is that we, as women, may have a distorted view of our monetary value due to background and social conditioning.

Here's an excerpt from Elinor Stutz's latest article on the WomenCorp site:

Most female entrepreneurs beginning their own business seem to suffer from their own perceived “lack of worth” syndrome. They are so accustomed taking a back seat as housewives and mothers or volunteering for the community greater good, that their inherent skill set has been greatly diminished in terms of monetary value.

Check out the entire article and make one of your resolutions to first, get clear on your true value, and second, to start earning it!

Have a great weekend!
-- Get more tips, advice and coaching at WomenCorp

What's Your Dream?

Today, I'm profiling one of our newest articles and hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Join Pat Lynch, WomensRadio Editor-In-Chief and Host of “Speak Up!” as she meets with the Executive Director of Soroptimist International of the Americas, Leigh Wintz. Leigh shares with us what it takes to become empowered and to begin living your dreams through Soroptimist’s campaign entitled “Live Your Dream.”

Founded in 1921, Soroptimist International of the Americas is an international organization for business and professional women who provide volunteer service to their communities. Almost 40,000 Soroptimists in about 20 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community–based and international projects benefiting women and girls. The name, Soroptimist, means “best for women,” and that’s what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best working to help other women to be their best.

I'll have to admit, until I read this article and listened to the interview myself, I didn't know much about the organization. But wow, I am sold on it now and this campaign is just super. So, go on now, check it out, go to the Soroptimist site, explore, and think about how you can get involved.

Enjoy, and have a great day!
-- Get more tips, advice and coaching at WomenCorp

Start Your New Year Right

Yea! Join the Club!

Krizia, CEO of Beauty Match Network, is the WomenCorp Beauty expert and has a fabulous new article in our latest issue on what has been a hot topic lately. With so many celebrities "coming out of the closet" about their cosmetic surgery procedures, and so many non-celebrities taking a pragmatic look at growing older, more and more people are looking to cosmetic surgery to turn back the hands of time. No longer the panacea for the puff and pudge of the super-rich, everyday folks are visiting cosmetic surgeons for affordable, subtle or drastic, yet always life-changing procedures.

If you're one of the many who are thinking "maybe" or "maybe someday", take a look at Krizia's newest article and educate yourself before you make any calls, visits, or decisions.
-- Get more tips, advice and coaching at WomenCorp

Is It Time To Change Jobs?

Lynn Carnes, the Womencorp career advice expert, has some great advice for anyone thinking about making a career change. Get Fiscally Fit!

Cyber Monday proved to be a big winner for the online retailers. Some reports show that sales were up 21% from last year!

Here's a tidbit from the Associated Press:

"ComScore Inc. reported on Tuesday that consumers spent $733 million online on Monday, a 21% gain from the same day a year ago. ComScore had expected that sales would exceed the $700 million figure."

And who says our economy is not looking up? People are still shopping. That means we're hopeful. We are believing for good things, for money in the bank, for giving to friends and family, and for a great future.

If you're not one of those big spenders because you simply don't have the money, or you were one of the big spenders and know you'll regret it in January, take a look at this video. It's time to get fiscally fit. Make that your New Years Resolution. Instead of losing 10 pounds, add 10 points to your credit score. Add $10K to your retirement account. You get the picture. Subscribe to WomenCorp online magazine and get educated, inspired, and connected. This is the day when so many online retailers, large and small, offer fantastic discounts, free shipping, and incentives galore to buy your Christmas presents from them.

Since I already did my Christmas shopping (I just couldn't resist bringing that up again!) I didn't do Cyber Monday. But I did think a lot about all those people buying gifts online and hope that they are practicing safe shopping. Sad to say, but there are a lot of scam artists out there now looking to make a quick buck and this is busy season for them, too.

One of our newer partners at WomenCorp, Cynthia Bazin, owner of a security and investigations company, wrote an article in the last issue on Personal Safety and Security Tips. She makes some great points and offers suggestions all of us can use. Check it out!
-- Get more tips, advice and coaching at WomenCorp

Christmas Shopping and Black Friday

Did you do it?

Did you get up at 3 a.m. and hit the 4 a.m. sales at Best Buy? Did you sleep off yesterday's turkey and get up with the chickens?

Judging from the early word from the retail world, if you did, you were one of many. Now I don't really need a lot of that stuff right now, and already have some of my Christmas shopping done (or planned), so I didn't hit the sales. Yes, I have already started my shopping! Please, though, don't hate me because I'm practical. You can do it too! Seriously, we had a great Thanksgiving dinner and gathering and there is truly so much to be thankful for. Sometimes, spending that precious little extra time with family on Black Friday is the best way to spend the day.

We here at WomenCorp are busy behind the scenes (since we've already got our shopping done...) planning some fun and profit-focused stuff for the magazine. You have been great to let us know how much you're enjoying the magazine. We have an awesome group of partners and must admit, the content is superb. Next year is already gearing up to be a record-breaker for many of us and we're planning to share our secrets with YOU! That's what it's all about, right? Helping you, our readers, to enjoy the fantastic and profitable life you deserve.

Closing out for today, take a look at one of our newer partners, Kent Irwin and his (yes sir, we now have two men on our partner team!) latest article. At this time of year when we all tend to spend way too much money and then worry ourselves sick in January about how we're gonna recover financially (and lose those 10 holiday pounds), thinking about personal finances in advance sounds like a smart thing to do. Check it out!
-- Get more tips, advice and coaching at WomenCorp

Gratitude: The Meaning Of Thanksgiving

If you're reading this, you're probably a lot like me. We've got a lot to be grateful for. Even the ability to read is so easy to take for granted but there are still so many people in the world who can't read. And some who can't see.

When we sit down to list all the seemingly little things - you know, those things we take for granted - it can be overwhelming. With all the depressing things going on in the world, it's truly nice to take a step away from the 24-hour news channel and pay a visit to nature.

I'm grateful for the ability to take a walk in nature, enjoying the fresh air, the beautiful flowers, and at this time of year, the gorgeous fall colors of the trees while they are still dense with leaves. For my family and good health, I'm grateful.

Let's all remember to give thanks this year for all the big blessings and the little blessings and to share some of our blessings with somebody who is struggling right now. This world is full of beauty.
