If Andrej Pejic chooses to model for both female and male fashion yet stay being male, Lea T prefers becoming a transgender to pursue her career in modeling.

As transgender model, Lea who was born with the name Leandro Cerezo, has worked with the photographer Terry Richardson for the spring/summer 2012 swimwear collection of ‘Blue Man’, the biggest swimwear brand in Brazil; made an appearance in Fashion Rio Summer 2012 event, where she wore two-piece swimwear collections, including the one which has snakeskin-print, cutaway bikini paired with tiny denim hot pants.

Miss T is the child of former footballer Toninho Cerezo. She began the gender reassignment process in 2008, and had an interview with Oprah in February, where she opened up about her lifelong battle with her gender. She said she was hoping she was gay for it would be less painful for her family than having a transgender child. But as her father approved her way of life, she went on with the procedure which she thought affected her life both physically and mentally.

Prior to the swimwear shoot, Lea T is actually no stranger to the world of high fashion. She has walked in shows for French fashion house Givency after making friends with the creative director Riccardo Tisci. Tisci and designer Alexandre Herchcovitch even described her as ‘a true goddess.’ Her debut on the catwalk began with Herchcovitch’s autumn/winter 2011 collection, which she wore in Sao Paulo Fashion Week event, at the end of January.

In the cover of LOVE magazine, she was also pictured kissing Kate Moss, the British Supermodel, for the magazine’s ‘Androgyny Issue’ which was edited by Katie Grand. Grand spotted her potential after seeing her by the pool of Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio, wearing Givency haute couture although at that time she didn’t notice her gender. Both Grand and T immediately became firm fashion friends after that.

It is now official that Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are the new creative directors for Kenzo as announced by the LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton on July 12.
