In 2002, Women’s Health Initiative found the drugs that women usually taking for menopause could increase the risk of heart attack.
Health advocates says one third of the former users of hormone therapy-pharmaceutical companies put that total figure at over 18 million–are likely going without treatment or trying alternative remedies.

Rita, for instance, now using a vaginal ring that releases estrogen called the Femring. Taken along with progestin pills, this regimen is helping her feel much better.

Tens of millions of US women entering menopause offered been offered the hormone therapy, the stage during women stop menstruating and estrogen levels drop.
In the late 1960s, estrogen-progestin combination or an estrogen, only version for women who had had hysterectomies–were touted as the “cure” for menopause and to protect against breast cancer and heart disease.

In 1991 with 161,000 women enrolled, reported that hormone therapy can lead to small increases in strokes, blood clots, heart attacks and breast cancer. These risks outweighed the drug’s benefits of slight protection against bone fractures and colorectal cancer.

And now many women, like Rita, using the vaginal ring meanwhile others are taking non-hormonal drugs that could prevent bone loss and hot flashes or with a low-dose versions of hormone therapy.
With selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (such as Effexor) ease hot flashes. Biophosphonates, such as Actonel and Fosamax, selective estrogen receptor modulators (such as Evista) work to maintain bone density.

Though scientists have yet to study the long-term safety and efficacy of these alternative remedies, health advocates hold out hope for more research on all of the above.

“A month after I gave birth to my first child, my husband reached for me in bed and started to kiss my neck and caressing my thighs. But while he was lighting candles, I was staring at the ceiling and running through the grocery list in my head,” Kelly said, who is using a pseudonym to protect her privacy.

Due to hormonal shifts during her pregnancy, women sometimes has no longer felt a glimmer of interest in sex because of low on testosterone, the hormone that fuels sexual desire for human.

And when the doctor prescribed pills containing DHEA (a precursor to testosterone) and a testosterone gel that applied to her skin once a day. “Now my husband and I are having pull-the-buttons-off-your-shirt sex again, barely wait until our kids drift off to sleep at night” she says.

Nowadays, drug and supplement makers are competition to create the first “Viagra for women”, it’s difficult because women’s sexual response is physiologically and psychologically more complicated than that of men.
It’s hard for women to know which remedies might solve their sexual problems, and whether these problems require treatment in the first place. Meanwhile many sex remedies are unregulated and may pose risks to women’s health.

At at some point in women lives, most will experience a blip in sexual functioning such as difficulty achieving orgasm, diminished arousal or loss of libido. But If trouble persists, health experts recommend to seek help from both a counselor and a medical doctor.
Psychological evaluation may reveal communication problems in a romantic relationship or trauma stemming from a rape or childhood sexual abuse meanwhile medical tests may reveal hormonal imbalances triggered by pregnancy or by taking prescription drugs.

Doctors may discover that a woman has pain during intercourse because birth control pills don’t mix well with her body chemistry. They may find that she has lost sensation in her pelvis due to nerve damage suffered during childbirth or a hysterectomy.
Doctor may give a woman new prescriptions that are less likely to affect her hormone levels and/or performing a surgery to repair nerve damage or maybe recommend to strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor by doing Kegel exercises.

Actually, the federal Food and Drug Administration has yet to approve any sex drugs for women to solve the women sexual disfunction and all of these remedies are prescribed “off-label,” which is administered in a way that is different from their intended use.
Though these off-label applications are still under scientific study, most health advocates approve of them because they are done with a doctor’s supervision.
Many women say off-label treatments have made a terrific difference and literally helped them turn their sex lives around

Across the US, drug and supplement makers are scrambling to create companion sexual pills for women.
Some are developing a pill that stimulates the area of the brain related to sexual arousal, creating a nasal spray designed to improve lubricating secretions, develop a testosterone gel for the treatment of female sexual disfunction and make a testosterone patch designed to boost libido in postmenopausal women.

The development of Viagra and other drugs has kicked up a lot of interest, but it’s going to take time before we figure out what’s really valuable and for whom.

It referred to an article from 1950 in the International Journal of Sexology in which gynecologist, Dr. Ernest Grafenberg wrote about erotic sensitivity along the anterior vaginal wall.

Many people have read or heard about G-Spot, but few have read it’s actual words but in reality, Grafenberg only uses the word “spot” twice to make the opposite point to the way it has been popularly used.

Actually he states that no spot in the female body, from which sexual desire could not be aroused. Innumerable erotogenic spots are distributed all over the body, from where sexual satisfaction can be elicited; these are so many that we can almost say that there is no part of the female body which does not give sexual response, the partner has only to find the erotogenic zones.”

The Grafenberg spot (G-Spot) is said to be a sensitive area just behind the front wall of the vagina, between the back of the public bone and the cervix. Beverly Whipple, a certified sex educator and counselor, and John D. Perry, an ordained minister, psychologist, and sexologist, named the G-Spot after gynecologist Ernest Grafenberg (1881-1957).

Dr. Grafenberg was the first modern physician to describe the area and argue for its importance in female sexual pleasure. His claim is that when this spot is stimulated during sex through vaginal penetration of some kind (fingers during masturbation, penis or other object partly thrusting into the vagina), some women have an orgasm. This orgasm may include a gush of fluid from the urethra — sometimes called the -female ejaculation — however, many experts do not agree on this. It is not considered urine. Is this real? Mangynecologistts and physiologist still argue.

There has been a large amount of controversy among sex researchers regarding this theory. For women who have felt this gush of urethral fluid, or for those who have found a new pleasure spot, having a name for it confirms their experience.

But remember, not all women are sensitive in this area, so be careful not to set up unrealistic expectations for yourself. Try it out; if it works, great, if it doesn’t seem sensitive, try to find the spot(s) that are right for you!

Plastic surgeons is surgery to reshape the labia and other areas of the vagina is picking up fast, in order to improve comfort, but many want to conform to ideals set by the porn industry.
In a labiaplasty, the surgical reshaping of female external genital structures, larger or uneven inner vaginal lips are cut and shortened. Labiaplasty and vaginal cosmetic surgery are the fastest growing emerging growth trend in cosmetic plastic surgery.

Labiaplasty was once the place of sex workers, swimsuit models, nude entertainers, nude models, and the occasional woman who needed her labia reduced for medical reasons such as infection or pain

Some women who opt for the surgery like vaginal rejuvenation because they are unhappy or their labia has caused them physical discomfort, the bulk of the women getting this surgery are ultimately being pressured by men who don’t want them of having “old looking” vaginas and conform to a idea of beauty most often seen in the porn industry. But women who aren’t sex workers that getting this kind of thing because there’s pressure from someone who’s telling them they’re not perfect with their standards for labial beauty were set by a combination of the porn industry, sex-oriented magazines and the Internet.

Actually, even young women will look at loose hanging labia as a sign of aging and want to have it done, and many girls 20 to 30 years old now want every part of their body to look as young as they are by doing vaginal cosmetic surgery.
Another cosmetic surgery such as vaginal rejuvenation, is also rising as it entails tightening the vaginal and perineum area, often stretched during childbirth. It can increases sexual pleasure for both partners.

Women are having labiaplasties and other forms of vaginal cosmetic surgery because “longer, lose hanging inner lips is a sign of aging and women don’t want to look old there. Young women will look at loose hanging labia as a sign of aging and want to have it done.
Women want to be tight and they don’t want sagging or loose labia.

Menopause been worried and scared by some women when they wonder what will happen when they reach menopause. Menopause can be a positive experience and a chance for all women to be more focus themselves and make changes that will improve their health.
Actually there’s no way of exactly predicting when will menopause occur. Each of woman has an internal biological timer that is programmed before birth to set the hormonal events and trigger both the start and the end of menstruation.

There are things you could do to understand and preparing menopause, especially the physical and emotional changes that may be ahead of you. A women survey said that the worst thing about menopause is they do not know what to expect, as they are too embarrassed to ask anyone about this menopause, even with other women friends. But thanks in large part to the rise of the women’s movement and menopause is talked about more openly today.

The survey also said that most women think the average woman experiences menopause at age 45, when the actual average age is between 50 and 51. Although most women experience similar symptoms of menopause, but not all the symptoms experienced by every women.

Some menopause symptoms that you might experienced :

Frustrating symptoms that start during perimenopause and continue once they have reached menopause.

Hot flashes have become the hallmark symptom of menopause. Hot flashes are a feeling of sudden flush or warmth, often followed by sweating. It can cause a serious sleepless nights and discomfort for some women.

Night sweats with hot flashes that happen while you sleep

Weight gain and hair loss or thinning

Mood changes such as depression, irritability and mood swings

Vaginal problems like vaginal dryness and irritation that can cause pain during sex and pelvic exams, frequent vaginal infections with urinary problems, including burning or pain when urinating, leaking when sneezing, coughing, or laughing problems with concentration or memory; less interest in sex and changes in sexual response.

An interesting study reported that certain characteristics of a woman’s menstrual cycle may confer increased fertility, while others may lead to a greater risk of miscarriage on women reproduction health.
This new study been investigated by Dr. Chanley M. Small of Emory University in Atlanta and colleagues followed 470 women for 1 year or the end of a pregnancy. They do investigation whether the length of a woman’s cycle and her menstrual bleed are related to fertility and pregnancy outcome.

All of those women kept diaries on their menstrual cycles and collected urine samples for at least 2 days during each cycle. As the result is 38% of the women became pregnant during the course of the study, with a total of 207 pregnancies and 30% of the pregnancies ended in miscarriage, as reported in the Epidemiology journal.

The pregnancy was most likely to occur after cycles lasting 30 to 31 days and and 40 percent less likely after shorter cycles. Miscarriage was 3 times more common after cycles that were either shorter than or longer than 30 to 31 days.
While spontaneous abortion was 60 percent less likely after periods lasting longer, the conception occurred most frequently after menstrual bleeds lasting 5 days

The researchers conclude that menstrual cycles may offer epidemiologists a noninvasive, immediate measure of reproductive health and may be useful for studying a variety of host conditions, occupational and environmental exposures

According to researchers at the University of Newcastle in the UK, shifts in appearance include variation in lip size and color, eye pupil dilation and changes in skin color and tone. This follows a previous study suggesting women’s ears, fingers, breasts and other soft tissue areas become more symmetrical at times of peak fertility.

In the more recent study, males and females rated photographs taken of women during the peak stages of fertility (8 to 14 days into the menstrual cycle) and after those levels dropped (17 to 25 days post-cycle). All judges rated the fertile women as more beautiful about 51 to 59 percent of the time. Lead study author S. Craig Roberts wrote that the subtle facial changes “can have substantial reproductive benefits if they raise value in the mating market.” Previous studies have also found that women in fertility prime become more flirtatious and give off odors men find alluring. Interestingly, Canadian researcher Maryanne Fisher found that during their most fertile stages, women also become more critical of other women.

As U.S. researchers reported on Wednesday, women who lose their sexual desire as they age may be reacting to their own body image rather than hormonal changes.
From Penn State University found that by perceiving herself as less attractive, more women likely report a decline in sexual desire or activity over the past 10 years.

Dr. Patricia Barthalow Koch, an associate professor of biobehavioral health and women’s studies led the study with a team of 307 mostly white, heterosexual women aged 35 to 55. About 21% said they were pre-menopausal, 63.5% said they were undergoing some menopausal changes and 15.5% were past menopause.
Koch said that form the results suggest that treatment via medication, of menopausal effects for this purpose seems unwarranted in light of the findings that menopausal status did not have a significant impact on the sexual responding of the women in this study.

From Dr. Koch’s team reports in The Journal of Sex Research, nearly 21% of the women reported an overall sense of dissatisfaction with their bodies and could not think of even one attractive feature. Most women especially disliked their stomachs or abdomens, hips, thighs and legs.
Two-thirds of the women said they either desired sex less than 10 years before or that they had sex less often. But something interest from the women report that when they did have sex, there was a high level of enjoyment, with 72% saying they were physically and emotionally satisfied in their sexual relationships.

Koch said that there has been a dearth of research examining the relationship between body image and women’s sexual response. These new results support a link between body image and sexual responding that needs further study.

Did your mother stop breast feeding you early because she had to go back to work? If so, that may be one reason you have a weight problem.
Researchers from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center found that a protein in breast milk called adiponectin might reduce the risk of obesity later in life. The protein is important in fat and sugar metabolism. Low levels of adiponectin are linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and heart disease. The risk of obesity was lower the longer a child is breast-fed.

Other benefits of breast feeding include fewer ear and respiratory infections, disease-preventing immunities are passed from mother to child, reduced incidence of diarrhea, lower risk of type 1 diabetes, and maximum nutrition for the developing brain and nervous system.

Americans talk about “safe sex” but they don’t practice it, according to a survey published by American Social Health Association. One in four people and half of young adults will be affected by a sexually transmitted disease (STD) in their lifetime. Most people surveyed believed they were not at risk. Sixty-three percent said they are well-informed about the risks associated with sex; 84 percent said they took the right precautions. Yet 82 percent of sexually active people said they never use protection against STDs for oral sex; 64 percent never used protection for anal sex; 47 percent never used protection for vaginal sex.

Despite not knowing if their partner had been tested, 93 percent said they were certain their partner did not have STD. Publishers of the survey, which questioned 1,115 adults ages 18-35, said the results are “disturbing” and demonstrate why STDs spread so quickly.
“Despite the fact that STDs are extremely widespread and have severe consequences, it is troubling that there is such a large portion of people who still feel invincible,” said Dr. James Allen, the association’s president. STDs contribute to long-term women sexual health problems such as cervical cancer and bacterial infections that can cause infertility in women.

Labia unevenness is a problem that women ask a lot about as it makes their genital look odd or abnormal due to the uneven shape of the inner lips.

Some vaginas or female genitals even have a look like the one they have teeth. This when seen by an intimate partner can be quite frightening and more so if the lights are dime and shadows are appearing around the teeth like lips. Part of the fear given through myth is that a vagina like this will bite his manhood off. However, reality is that your partner might think that you are abnormal or have some disease, which caused your vaginal lips to take on a deformed looks.
This looks is completely unappealing to have uneven vaginal lips that seem like your vagina has teeth. To a lesser extent, little unevenness also makes your vagina or genitalia look ugly because of its uninformed look. In part, it is a deformity of the vaginal lips or atrophied lips. Where they did not develop evenly giving you an odd shape.

An other problem women ask a lot is about excessive length of the inner vaginal lips. Once again, when the lips over develop, it is abnormal attributed to a deformity of your vagina or genitalia. It is not normal for the lips to be long. Women, who have long inner lips, have them atrophied or deformed.

These types of distended abnormal inner lips will stick out past your outer vaginal lips. Therefore, when you are standing upright and you notice you’re inner lips sticking out past your outer lips as shown in the image. It means that your lips have abnormally developed. This type of look is unappealing to most people, as most art, erotica and even pornography depict women whom have their inner lips not protruding past their outer lips.

When the inner lips protrude past the outer lips, they look unappealing. As most people like to look at a neat and tidy vaginas. They represent the ideal standard and have a feminine appeal to them. Within this book of Labia Enhancement, you will be provided with the step-by-step guides on how to correct these labial problems. Allowing you to improve the aesthetics of your genitalia so that you have a sexier feminine organ just like women who have perfect vaginas.

In fact, infertility is just as likely to be caused by a male factor as a female factor. Male factor accounts for 40% of infertility, female factor accounts for 40%, combined female and male problems account for 10% and the remaining 10% are of unexplained causes. It is essential that both the man and the woman be evaluated during an infertility work-up.

It is estimated that 1 in 6 people experience infertility at some point in their lives. According to the National Centre for Health Statistics (NCHS) approximately 4.5 million couples experience infertility each year. Less than 2 million of the infertile couples actually seek help from the medical community. Infertility is a common health problem in men and women. Fortunately, 90% of all cases have a specific cause for the infertility that can be uncovered with proper diagnosis by physicians who specialize in reproductive medicine.

Infertility causes stress but stress doesn’t cause infertility. Infertility is a medical condition; a disorder to the reproductive system. While relaxing may help you cope and with your overall quality of life, the stress and deep emotions you feel are the result of infertility, not the cause of it.

Almost every infertile couple has probably heard the story from a relative or friend about someone who became pregnant right after they adopted. However, studies prove that the pregnancy rate after adopting is the same for those who do not adopt; it’s just that the ones who adopt and then achieve pregnancy are the ones you hear about more often!

Since normal, healthy sperm remain active in the woman’s reproductive system from 48-72 hours, having intercourse at 36-48 hour intervals around the time of ovulation is usually adequate. In fact, if the man has a low sperm count that replenishes slowly, having sex every day may be counterproductive.

Vagina is the opening that is located directly below the urethral opening (where you pee from), the opening is called an orifice, as are other openings in your body. Directly outside of the vaginal opening are the labia minor, the smooth inner lips of the vulva.
The vaginal walls are continually producing secretions necessary to provide lubrication, to cleanse the vagina, and to maintain the proper acidity to prevent infection.

Vagina tends to be fairly acidic (sperm tend to be more of a base or alkaline) and naturally self-cleansing body part, so douching isn’t necessary to keep the vagina clean. Some women choose to use a vinegar and water douche after the end of their period, but this is not necessary actually. For women who like to douche, however, should do so with products that are unscented.
It is not normal to have a vagina that smells like a field of flowers and can you imagine the chemicals used to create that “fragrance” are not good for you at all. If you have a ’strange’ odor from you vagina, see a gynecologist for a better hand.

Wash your vagina when you shower or bath with a gentle soap or cleansing bar. Don’t over-do-it or you can irritate the sensitive lining and it is not a pleasant feeling, but it will heal. I’m sure you’ve seen many TV ads for products that claim to care for your vagina, most are not necessary, unless you have a vaginal infection.

Vaginal Dryness
At one time or another all women experience vaginal dryness. Before you feel sore, in pain, and or frustrated with yourself, you should know that normal estrogen fluctuations often cause vaginal dryness. Some women believe that vaginal lubricants are only for women who are not sexually aroused, or who are going through menopause, or if they are not very sexually experienced. Lubricants are for all of those reasons and for masturbating too. Vaginal dryness often occurs during your period, if you are stressed-out, and if you are using a condom with no lubrication! Yes, vaginal dryness can cause painful sexual intercourse. Make sure you are using the right amount of lubrication, especially when using a condom.
Antihistamines and other medication (some antidepressants) can dry out your vagina too.

The vagina is sometimes referred to as the ‘front door to life’, one day you may even deliver a baby through it. Hard to believe that a baby can fit through that canal, but it can stretch (and tear) and they do. Of course, let’s not forget that the vagina is where you have vaginal sexual intercourse or oral sex (cunniligus).

Fifty years ago, personal issues were kept extremely private and certain matters were absolutely taboo to mention in proper company. Social mores changed with the sexual revolution of the ‘60s, as teens and young adults flaunted their ideas of free love in the face of tradition. Once liberated, the baby boomers and subsequent generations continued to promote open dialogue about personal liberties.

As people became more comfortable with discussing personal issues, it became increasingly evident that hidden epidemics were present in our culture. Increasing awareness led to pressure on the government and the medical community to address the concerns that were negatively affecting many people, including mental health (depression, anxiety), infertility and the need for practical contraception.

Only recently is a topic that is among the most personal and intimate being discussed and treatment options developed. Sexual dysfunction is a term used to describe individuals who are unable to successfully practice sexual intercourse. The television channels have been inundated with commercials promoting drug therapies for men, as athletes, celebrities and even a former presidential candidate have joyfully pronounced the positive impact of Viagra, Levitra and Cialis. The term erectile dysfunction has become so common that it has earned its own acronym, ED.

Impotence is a matter that many men have discussed with their physicians over the years and the pharmaceutical companies deserve to be congratulated for discovering drugs that can treat the condition. With the Viagra- like drugs, the primary complaint relating to sexual dysfunction for men now has several treatment options. Unfortunately, sexual dysfunction is not limited to men.

Only recently have the medical journals been addressing the field with vigor. Sexual function is a complex set of actions and processes and a problem may occur at any stage of the event. Complaints about sexual function are surprisingly common when clinicians take the time to address the topic with patients. Published surveys in the medical literature have documented rates of sexual dysfunction as high as 43 percent among healthy adult women. Sadly, women suffering sexual dysfunction wait, on average, more than 10 years before seeking help.

Complaints regarding sexual function can arise in four general categories, and many women suffer from dysfunction in more than one category. Sexual dysfunction may be a result of any combination of the following: low or absent sexual desire; difficulty or failure in becoming sexually aroused; difficulty or failure to reach climax; and pain or discomfort during any phase of the sex act.

To clarify the terms used, it may be helpful to explain each briefly. Sexual desire describes the physical, mental and emotional events that set the mood or urges a woman to initiate or respond to a passionate encounter. A state of heightened desire may be described as being “turned on.” Sexual arousal primarily describes the physical changes that prepare the body for intercourse. In regard to the medical evaluation of sexual arousal, the focus lies on the labia, vagina and clitoris. Blood flow increases to this region as the labia and clitoris become engorged and swollen and the vagina becomes lubricated. Orgasm is an involuntary, peristaltic (wave-like) set of muscular contractions.

Much of the earlier search into women sexual life suffered greatly from the male bias of science. Sexual responsiveness in animals is easily controlled, as most mammals only copulate (have sex) during the ovulatory phase of an estrus cycle. Thus, it was long assumed that as long as a woman had functioning ovaries, there could be no problems with sexual function.
