The preserve needs 1 million dollars a year to run, please help support Shambala.org by spreading the word, donating or becoming a member today!

âShambala is home to more than 70 big cats: lions, tigers, cougars, black and spotted leopards, servals, bobcats, Asian leopard cats, a jungle cat, a lynx, and one very magnificent liger. All have come to the Preserve after confiscation by authorities such as California Fish and Game, the United States Department of Agriculture, the ASCPA, and various Humane Societies. They are from roadside zoos and private citizens who realize that they have purcahsed an animal that they can no longer handle.â

		<description><![CDATA[Javetta went through a life that so many of us cannot even comprehend, yet despite everything she always believed in herself and her own strength. After living through years of abuse from family members and than a husband, Javetta left the only life she knew and took her kids far away and lived in the projects working 2-3 jobs to support her children.  After years of struggling she was able to move her boys out of the projects, is going back to school studying law enforcement so that she can help other women and children break free from abuse.

While doing all this Javetta and her sons started an organization called Encouragement In The Trauma. Which you can find at http://www.encouragementinthetrauma.org

They help others by offering postcards, inspirations, music and skits done by the children to show hope and strength and encouragement to those who are going through what they escaped.

Women in the process of marital seperation need help.  Void of Moon, The Emotional Journey Through Marital Seperation is based on the authorâs personal journey and the expression of many women through this strange and unfamiliar time.

During our interview Denise and I talk about the emotions women go through even before they decide to file for divorce. I do want to stress here that Deniseâs book can be used by anyone to better their relationship as well, while some people already know that divorce will happen I can see how Deniseâs book would help out any relationship as you go through many different struggles and emotions along the way.

Denise also talks a little about using her book for such relationships as bosses, friends and co-workers as well since no matter what type of relationship you are having trouble with you go through the same emotions when you are trying to seperate yourself from a bad situation.

I loved how Denise started out her book with how she lost it one day and started throwing dishes out her window, while we both donât recommend letting your frustrations get this far it does help you to understand that Denise has indeed gone through the same emotions and frustrations we all feel during a tough time. I love it when I know that the people I am interviewing or reading their books or blog posts know exactly what I am going through because they have experienced it themselves, it is easier for me to relate to the knowledge that they know and for me to learn from them as well. I commend Denise for sharing her own feelings, frustrations and thoughts on what worked or didnât work for her.

I was updating my Heal Yourself Magazine site with information on cancer for women and updating the videos and articles from Fran Drescherâs organization  CancerSchmancer.org. While I was updating it I realized that much of the information about signs and symptoms I found I didnât know myself and felt led to do a show on female cancers.

During the show Maureen from New Jersey called in to tell me about her cancer experience when she was pregnant.  The story that Maureen shares is both a story of courage and strength and how she went through saving her baby who was born a healthy 9+ pounds and how now she is wanting to be a help to other women who are going through the same thing. Maureen wanted to me to post a website and organization that helped her through this time in her life Pregnant with Cancer Network.

Pat Hastingâs book is simply the best motivational and spiritual book I have read in a long time. Her stories of how finding things she needed at garage sales by asking God for help: for instance her husband was out of work and he had a job interview and needed a size 12D wing tip shoes-not a common yard sale item. God answered her prayers and she was able to find the shoes her husband needed to a job interview.

Her book is filled with so many inspirational and wonderful stories about miracles and how God does provide or lead you to where you need to go, it filled my heart with joy last night as I was reading and made me start to really think again where those âinstinctsâ come from.

Her stories of how finding things she needed at garage sales by asking God for help: for instance her husband was out of work and he had a job interview and needed a size 12D wing tip shoes-not a common yard sale item. Here's a great seasonal pumpkin bread pudding that will fill your kitchen with a wonderful aroma. We like ours with raisins, but feel free to use dried cranberries. One of our favorite ways of eating this pudding is with a drizzle of good-quality maple syrup, which is why this dessert would also make a pretty good brunch dish.<br />
Prep Time: 15 minutes</p><p>Cook Time: 45 minutes</p><p>Ingredients:</p><p>1 10.5 ounce day-old ounce baguette<br />
2 cups fat-free half and half<br />
2 eggs, lightly beaten<br />
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar<br />
1 cup pure pumpkin<br />
1 tsp vanilla extract<br />
1/4 tsp nutmeg<br />
1/4 tsp ginger<br />
1 tsp cinnamon<br />
1/8 tsp cloves<br />
3/4 cup raisins (or dried cranberries)<br />
Preparation:</p><p>Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 11 X 7 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.<br />
Cut baguette into 1 inch slices, then into cubes. ( from shelly)</p><p><strong>A.</strong> Visceral fat is fat that is deep inside the abdomen, around the organs. Visceral fat, unfortunately, is nowadays thought to be much more significant for disease risk than subcutaneous fat. Scientist have linked visceral fat to metabolic diseases like diabetes. For women, a waist size of more than 35 inches signals potential trouble.</p><p>What about liposuction to get rid of it? Actually, The New England Journal of Medicine did a study in 2004 about removing the viseral fat in women and they found out even though large amounts were removed it there were no health benefits--no changes in cholesterol, blood pressure or other risk factors for heart disease.</p><p>That is why it is crucial to be proactive and do something about it right now before it's too late.</p><p><strong>How you get rid of it?</strong></p><p>Eating fat-burning foods, which include lean proteins, fibrous carbohydrates, and whole grains.</p><p>Another thing you can do is decrease the saturated fats (think butter and high fatty foods) You also want to take your EFA's (essential fatty acids) this will help in get rid of viseral fat (think fish oil and flaxseed oil).</p><p>Also, weight training will help your body to build more lean muscle. Make sure your workouts are fat-burning, don't make the mistake of just going through the motions during your workout, otherwise you will never get rid of the viseral fat.</p><p><strong>What about walking?</strong></p><p>Walking isn't really going to do much to stimulate major fat loss,especially the viseral fat. You need to do interval cardio, if your serious about improving your health and looking better. I've seen too many women just focusing on walking and not even paying attention to the resistance training. Remember the more lean muscle you have, the leaner you will be.</p><p><strong>The best cardio to burn visceral fat is...</strong></p><p>Interval cardio.  An easy example of this is doing a 30 second interval of intense speed of either running, elptical, or other cardio machine.  Then after 30 seconds do 1-2 minutes at a moderate pace then repeat.  The duration can vary for your interval workout can vary anywhere from 20-60 minutes. Visceral fat, unfortunately, is nowadays thought to be much more significant for disease risk than subcutaneous fat. Scientist have linked visceral fat to metabolic diseases like diabetes. For women, a waist size of more than 35 inches signals potential trouble. What about liposuction to get rid of it? Actually, The New England Journal of Medicine did a study in 2004 about removing the viseral fat in women and they found out even though large amounts were removed it there were no health benefits--no changes in cholesterol, blood pressure or other risk factors for heart disease. That is why it is crucial to be proactive and do something about it right now before it's too late. How you get rid of it? Eating fat-burning foods, which include lean proteins, fibrous carbohydrates, and whole grains. Another thing you can do is decrease the saturated fats (think butter and high fatty foods) You also want to take your EFA's (essential fatty acids) this will help in get rid of viseral fat (think fish oil and flaxseed oil). Also, weight training will help your body to build more lean muscle. Make sure your workouts are fat-burning, don't make the mistake of just going through the motions during your workout, otherwise you will never get rid of the viseral fat. What about walking? Walking isn't really going to do much to stimulate major fat loss,especially the viseral fat. You need to do interval cardio, if your serious about improving your health and looking better. I've seen too many women just focusing on walking and not even paying attention to the resistance training. Remember the more lean muscle you have, the leaner you will be. The best cardio to burn visceral fat is... Interval cardio. An easy example of this is doing a 30 second interval of intense speed of either running, elptical, or other cardio machine. Then after 30 seconds do 1-2 minutes at a moderate pace then repeat. The duration can vary for your interval workout can vary anywhere from 20-60 minutes. I have worked with many women over 50 in achieving their ideal body.  You need to first believe in yourself and forget what most women say when they are in their 50's such as....</p><p>"At my age I just can't seem to lose weight"</p><p>"It's too hard at my age"</p><p>"I've tried everything and nothing works at my age"</p><p>These simply beliefs so if you chose to believe in them then that is exactly what you will experience.  You need to only believe that you can achieve your ideal body even in your 50's.</p><p>This takes the right plan, patience, and perseverance.  I find that women in their 50's are not as active then they were in their 30's so make sure that you are getting in sufficient amount of weight training and cardio sessions in during the week.  For starters you can start out with 3x week of full body workouts and 3 cardio sessions.</p><p>You may find that you need to supplement with more calcium, add more protein to your daily intake, and increase your EFA's.   Make sure your eating enough high quality calories so that you can build lean muscle and burn body fat.</p><p>The most important secret to staying fit in your 50's is programming your mind for success. Lately I had been surrounded by people who all they did was complain, and it started rubbing off on meâ¦I hated how it made me feel, to be honest like I say on the interview at first I didnât realize it had rubbbed off on me till an incident happened that made me stop and look back over the past 2-3 months.

(from Linda)</p><p><strong>A.</strong> If you have what you call flabby areas that still have muscle, actually it means that you have extra body fat or have lost some muscle.  The only way to truly determine that is to do a body fat test.  </p><p>In order to tone up any flabby area you simply need to reduce your body fat.  Many women like to make it more complicated then it really is.   Your muscle does have memory so once you start training with weights again and adjusting your nutrition program you will find the flabby areas tightening up in just a few short weeks.</p><p>My rule of thumb is if you haven't seen any changes within at least 4 weeks, then change your program.</p><p><br />

(from Uma)</p><p><strong>A. </strong>  If you find yourself not being able to stick with a routine when it comes to your nutrition and exercise program then you are not giving yourself a big enough reason.  What I mean by this is you need to give yourself a big reason as to why you want to either stay on your program or get to your goal.</p><p><strong>Ask yourself these questions:</strong></p><p>How will staying on my program improve the other areas of my life?<br />
Am I doing this as part of a lifestyle or a quick fix diet?<br />
Am I taking daily inspired action every day?<br />
Do I make excuses for missing a workout?<br />
What is happening in my life that is taking me out of the flow?</p><p>Asking yourself these questions will help you to understand that there is more to this than you think.</p><p><strong>Q. </strong> How to target and remove lower abdominal fat/belly fat<br />
 (from Carmen)</p><p><strong>A.</strong>  You can't target lower belly fat.  However, you can eat and exercise to make sure that you are burning it off.   If you have lower belly fat that seems impossible to burn off.  Here are the most important things to consider:</p><p>1. Check to see what your total calorie intake is.  You can do this by creating a free account on fitday.com.  Many times you are could be either overeating or under-eating.</p><p>2. Add more intensity to your workouts by doing body weight exercises. Last weekend I decided I no longer wanted to be surrounded by negativity and people who are negative as it was starting to effect my life in ways that I could no longer handle....things fell apart because I was not focusing on the right things...
This leads me to our guest at the bottom of the hour Liz Pagayonan who is a scrapbooker.  She found out that while she was using scrapbooking to create memories of her children how focused she become on the happy times in her life and how it changed her whole outlook on things.  So she took what she herself learned and is now teaching others how to use scrapbooking to create your purpose, to be more focused.

		<description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Q. </strong>How do I stop my sugar cravings? (from Chris)</p><p><strong>A.</strong> Any time you have a sugar craving it's due to an imbalance<br />
in your nutrition.  I would first look at your nutrition to see exactly what you are eating.<br />
Here are some key things to keep in mind:</p><p>Eating sugar makes you crave MORE sugar <br />
Too much artificial sweetners can trigger cravings<br />
Not eating enough protein<br />
Not eating enough fiber (from your veggies)<br />
Not drinking enough water (coffee doesn't count as water either)<br />
Drinking too many sodas or even diet soda/ energy drinks<br />
Eating too many refined carbohydrates (like breads or crackers)</p><p>The key is have a balance in your program and when you do you won't <br />
find yourself craving sweets all the time. </p><p>I find the secret is to just give yourself a day to have what you want because<br />
if you do tell yourself that you can't have anything it will only make your cravings<br />
even more intense.  I find sometimes just having a bite of something sweet helps<br />

		<description><![CDATA[In todayâs show we talk a little about each different chakras, what they mean and how they each have an affect on our daily lives. I myself have a fear of going and following my dreams and Dyan opened up my eyes just by talking to me during the interview of how to let go of my fear and release it. Our minds will play tricks on us and it can lead us to not following our dreams.  Dyan gives tips on how to overcome this fear and rebalance our mind to allow what is is we want to accomplish.

We also talk a little bit more about her other her other tools like her book âCooking with the Angelsâ her Angel Cards âVoice of the Angelsâ.

Towards the end of the show Dyan and I talk about the negative impact of what we are reading and hearing in the media about our economy.  Dyan and I talk about how we can combat this with manifesting what we want and how with The Law of Attraction we need more than to just âThinkâ to make something happenâ¦we need to get how we think about money into the right perspectiveâ¦
