On Friday the event registration on Mammoth Mountain begins for the 5th Annual Roxy Chicken Jam.
This is an all-woman Slopestyle competition and Superpipe competition held on Friday and Saturday. Winners are awarded on Sunday!

It’s a womens snowboarding competition weekend chock full of downhill snowboarding, snowboarding tips and even a Superpipe mascot award. That winning mascot jams away with 6K!

Mammoth Mountain will be entertaining a couple hundred thousand spectators–complete with a free outdoor concert on Saturday.

This years grand prize is a whopping $50,000! Get out your Burton and Oakleys, this weekend will be a fantastic time to see competitive and talented women compete for this awesome grand prize!

With much of the 2008/2009 snowboarding season winding down in some parts of the United States, you’re likely to score some great deals on this season’s snowboard gear. Our advice: Stock up now on the cheap for next season.

4) DC Scout Snowboard Boots

We love the Scout, and if for nothing else but the design. Are you kidding??? How can you beat plaid? Turns out this is one of the hottest-selling boots of 2009. DC brought its skate-inspired design to boots with its Coiler BOA Lacing system - it’s designed to keep you from spending so much time lacing your kicks. On top of it all, they’re designed with ladies first in mind.

The time is right for women’s snowboarding films, even if next to no one is producing them.

Enter Jeremy Miller and Stan Evans, two guys from JMills Entertainment hell-bent on documenting how the ladies are pushing it "110 percent."

They plan on creating a cinematic style flick, not some garbage slapped together you sometimes see. That works because they both have a background in making great film.

Gretchen Bleiler, Jamie Anderson, Lisa Filzmoser, Hana Beaman, Kimmy Fasani will all be a part of the show, they told ESPN.

While they say that the boy’s side of the sport remains on another technical level, they’re setting out to highlight the awesome riders of the ladies’ world and put the spotlight on them.

Thank you guys! It would truly be a travesty if we didn’t get at least one movie this year that gives ladies some cred. They are doing incredible things, thanks for showing it off.

The film will be released in Fall 2009.

Big ups to the ladies! Women’s snowboarding is really coming into its own this year.

More and more women are hitting bigger runs, pulling gnarlier tricks and the momentum is building.

"It’s a really exciting time for women’s snowboarding," Gretchen Bleiler says.

For years, snowboarders across North America have looked forward to the annual ESPN Winter X Games, where snowboarders, skiers, snowmobilers and crazy, wild winter athletes go big.

But where the Dew Tour has the advantage is its focus on skiers and snowboarders. And it also is a three-stop tour, while the Winter X only appears in Aspen, Colorado.

This year, snowboarding superstars Gretchen Bleiler, Hanah Teter and Kelly Clark are all expected to show up at the Dew Tour.

The Dew Tour has put women’s events on equal footing with the men, which has prompted Winter X to finally offer equal prize money to both men and women in its competitions, USA Today reports.

The buzz seems to have many snowboarders pumped about the potential of the Dew Tour. Snowboarder Hannah Teter told allisports.com:

“I feel like the Dew Tour is gonna be huge and I’m really looking forward to riding on the entire series this year,” said Teter. “The roster of athletes that will be competing on the Winter Dew Tour is sick. It’ll be a fun battle to see who comes away with Dew Cup at the end of the season.”

The first of the Dew Tour’s three stops has already gone down in Breckenridge, Colorado. And many of the snowboarders are looking at the results of the Dew Tour for early indicators on who might be the one to beat come Winter X.
