Yes, I know I've been so busy the past two weeks and neglecting Womobomo. Nevertheless, I still have some time after work today to do my favourite stuff - surfing the net and encountering some giveaways! I didn't see anymore paypal cash giveaways, I never do get to win them though, but I hope that by listing the giveaways that I joined, you would be a lucky winner for any one of them as well! Exams, exams, exams. Two down for me, two more to go. It's so tiring! But that's not it. I should be studying. I should be reading all of my textbooks and writing some notes down from my lecture slides. I should be memorizing all the key terms and taking naps(consolidating my memories). But, no. I'm here, once again so addicted to the internet and surfing for four hours straight for now. Might be more, I don't know, it depends on when Mum comes home! Joking. Enjoy yourselves.

Okay so, Smashing Apps is giving away an Ultimate Designer Toolkit! These kind of giveaways for designers always catches my attention, so I joined it anyway. I'm interested in the brushes and textures, the rest are just extras for me I suppose! Ends on 27 May 2011.

Whoa. 3 Boys and a Dog and the beloved sponsors are giving away $200 in cash or prizes (your choice) to one lucky reader. There are many steps to do, but it's optional obviously, you don't have to complete every single link stated there. For me, I just liked all of their FB as an entry. I admire the fact that this giveaway uses a form to submit the entries instead of leaving comments after comments which is what I frequently see on giveaway sites. Thumbs up! Ends on 31 May 2011.

Problems with my Mobile Broadband device

Have you ever tried using a mobile broadband device? It's extremely convenient, and you can bring it anywhere with you outside of your home for internet. I've bought two so far, different brands of course, and they are so different. Both of them gives the same internet access convenience, but what I meant by different is the quality of the service. Honestly, I'm not giving any names here, because I don't want to write any reviews in this blog post. Reviews regarding this issue would be so negative(if written by me) that it would be called criticism, sarcasm and rants instead. So lets call it mobile broadband 1, and mobile broadband 2.

Mobile Broadband 1(2mbps) was slightly less than perfect, but I was satisfied with it. I was able to access internet on my laptop on the train, on the bus, in shopping malls, which is basically, everywhere. It was only a 3 second process. Open the cap of the device, plug in, and click the "connect" button, and it gets me instantly connected to the internet. When I say instantly, I mean it, there was not delay, no whatever #@$#% that will destroy my patience. The internet connection speed was satisfactory.

For Mobile Broadband 2(4mbps), which is the one I'm using now, it is horrible. I totally regret upgrading from 2mbps to 4mbps. "They" offered a discount for people using 2mbps connections to 4mbps, I thought it was an awesome deal so I went for it. It was a painful lesson learnt, and I swear I'll never do it again. Always be satisfied with what you have. So what happened was... Mobile Broadband 2 did not start for me in the start-up process, so I had to call the technical service. I was asked to uninstall the software, reinstall it and do some stuff to my laptop and it didn't help at all. Then somehow, just somehow, these dragged for a few days. During these few days, I had no internet access, so I decided to go down to their technical service center (They had only one in this country for god's sake.) to get this horrible "Mobile Broadband 2" fixed, once and for all. Guess what happened? Magically it appeared to be working fine there, so I had nothing to say. Then guess what? I couldn't use it from my home again. It was just... not working. I called the technical service people again, none of them was willing to come down, which was fine, but whatever assistance they provided over the phone was useless. I was asked to do the uninstall and reinstall process for a total of... let me count... EIGHT times or more, by different technical service people. My patience ends there, I cursed and swore at the people who were assisting me on the phone. I think that really helped, because the next day my internet access worked after they did some network stuffs in my neighborhood.

However, getting it to work does not mean that this issue is completely solved. I called several times later to explain the problem I was facing: My internet connection seems to disconnect by itself, and reconnect back after a few seconds. Sometimes it doesn't even reconnect back. At night I am unable to access the internet because although it appears that there is some signals, there is actually none, and hard solid evidence was the "unable to access" sign on Chrome. In conclusion, the only help that technical service people gave was to ask me to uninstall and reinstall again. That is the only knowledge they knew and we pay them for it. I'm paying for something that is faulty through my monthly bills. If you're asking me to change the device, it means I'll have to buy a new one and it costs a lot for me, and I don't have the patience to go through another round of -look above again- tedious process with them.

What about you? Are you experiencing such issues as well? I sought some advices from my friends, and they say told me to go near my window, go to and open area etc., as it might be the setting that was giving me trouble and not the device. I tried, believe me, I had no reason not to. None of them worked. So now I'm suffering with such limited access from 7pm to 11pm, occasional disconnect and reconnect issue sometimes more than three times per day, and slow internet access when "it" is in a bad mood. Well, but I'm not the only one. My friends are experiencing the same problems as well. Just that they don't mind it at all, because they didn't go through such horrendous service treatment I experienced. I've been trying to find out more on mobile broadband, read more about network issues and planning on how I can write a long and hurting negative review for this company's brand.

I've been just a little busy with Facebook apps this week. I am determined to build a prosperous city of my own on Cityville (a game app on Facebook) and bugging my friends with invites and stuff for the game. You also need to have neighbors, and it's crucial if you don't want to get stuck with a "one screen city". I know I should feel terrible about neglecting my studies, but I just can't help it! Earning with iPanel online

I'm having my exams in 2 weeks, and I was getting bored with revision, so I decided to write a post on my wonderful experience with iPanel online. I share good stuffs :3 So, what is iPanel online? They are an online market research team, founded in 2004 in Shanghai, China. If you would take the time to google "iPanel", you can see that they have already expanded to many countries, including Singapore. Check that you are living in those countries, because they each have specific websites for survey taking. Yes, you get paid to do surveys from iPanel.

I'm not very sure about the different survey methods, I think I've read somewhere that they do mobile surveys as well, but I personally have only done iPanel's surveys online. I'm from Singapore, so the panel I signed up for is iPanel Sg. So everything that I have to say in this post, is based on iPanel Singapore interface. I have received many survey invites since the day I joined, on average around 1 per week. Sometimes survey invites are not sent to your email (I have no idea why, could be a technical error). but I find surveys that I qualify on the website itself - "My homepage".

Here is a screen shot for the latest survey that was available :

Look to the right of the screenshot. Do you see "Rewards"? Basically, 600 points = 5 SGD. However, as the prize money increases, the amount of points you need to exchange for it decreases. So, 10200 points gets you 100 SGD. Interestingly, a 10,000 SGD prize is offered as well, and the exchange point is 1000200 points. The cash is paid via paypal only. There are many other prizes to exchange for as well, that are not in cash, some examples are HDV-D9 camera, Nintendo DSL, iPod Nano and so on. Once again, I reemphasize that these prizes are what is available on iPanel Singapore, you might find very different prizes available for other iPanel countries. If you are a member of iPanel of another country, please feel free to comment on this post with your evaluations.

Your points for each survey varies, and they depend on the length of the survey you have taken. I am extremely satisfied, that points from surveys are immediately credited without delay to account. I cannot have a proper screenshot to show, because apparently they don't keep a long history of records for their members to view, but here's what I have for you:

If you complete the survey, you get all the points you deserve. If you do not meet the condition, you still get some points. If the number of people taking the survey reached the survey criteria, then you get some points as well, and you're brought to a page informing you that "you were too late", for your "participation".

One obvious question you would ask is, why are members not given equal chances to take part in the survey? As in, if there was member A and member B, why would member A get the survey invitation in time to complete it and get the points, while member B gets the "sorry, too late" notification when he/she wanted to do the survey? The answer is already given in the first part of my post. You can never guarantee that there are absolutely, 100 per cent no technical errors in survey systems. Member A could have gotten the survey invitation earlier than member B had. Or perhaps, member A met the survey requirements a little bit closer as compared to member B.

I sometimes feel that iPanel works like this:

When the survey is ready, the link is then available on each member's homepage.
Members that are more suitable for this survey, are invited by email.
Members who are not that suitable for this survey, can check the homepage and still see the survey "enter" link.
Thus, checking back on the iPanel's website frequently is important so as not to miss out any opportunities available.
However, this is just what I feel, it might be 99 per cent not true, I don't know.

On iPanel Singapore's homepage, there is another link called "Interactive survey". It is a place where members can create their own surveys for free. Some generous members would give a few points for their interactive survey. Here is a screenshot of it:

I had fun doing all those interactive surveys because all of them added up to around 100 points, and they are all short, sweet and simple. Honestly, each interactive survey takes less than a minute.

The survey topics you would see could be about anything, I don't have a superb memory so I can't really remember every survey that I did, but some frequent ones are about mobile phones, company products, advertisements, and health. There is also one additional way to earn points. Which is, to recommend your friends to take join iPanel as well. Always remember to login to your own country's iPanel. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can only recommend friends that are from the same country as you, because the referral link won't work otherwise.

According to the latest news from iPanel Singapore, there is a referral contest going on, and from 1 May 2011 to 21 May 2011, for each successful referral you bring to iPanel, you get 200 points, and that is equivalent to 2 SGD in paypal cash. It is a really great deal, because normally, you only get 20 bonus points for each successful referral.

There is a fact I have been wanting to highlight ever since I started posting theses giveaways roundup. All these giveaways, do not necessarily have the criteria of "more points to enter the giveaway by blogging about it". I only post giveaways that I entered, so you can say it's a way to keep track of the many giveaways that I come across. I post giveaways that are suitable for myself, so the chances of seeing a "T-shirt" prize are much, much higher than seeing "Diapers". Enjoy.

Earning with Nuffnang

I was thinking really hard on what to type for my next blog post on Womobomo. Honestly, there are just too many money making ideas out there and it was difficult to select one for this post. Nevertheless, while I was changing Womobomo's theme (Yes, I changed it!) I happened to pay a little extra attention to Nuffnang's button stuck on my side bar. And there you go ~ I shall blog about Nuffnang this week! Honestly, I haven't been using Nuffnang for very long. I am not sure what countries Nuffnang cater to (Probably in Asia Pacific regions), so I'm just going to blog about Nuffnang.com.sg for Singaporeans.

I've placed a sample of an ad unit above, hopefully you can see the ad because sometimes, there simply are no ads served. Okay, so like every other advertising community on the internet, Nuffnang gives bloggers a chance to serve advertisers' ads on their blog and earn money from it. Likewise, the different methods of earning are also similar to other advertising communities you can find on the internet. There are CPM/ CPC and MCPM campaigns. More details can be found on the Nuffnang's FAQ page, but I'll touch on them briefly over here.

CPM campaigns

CPM means earning by impressions. You earn by the number of Average Unique visitors in the week that you are serving the ad campaign. You are then arranged into "bands" by Nuffnang according to your number of visitors. Logically, the higher your band, the higher you earn. Or simply put, the more number of unique visitors you get on your blog, the higher you get paid.

CPC campaigns

CPC means Cost Per Click. Every time someone clicks on your ad unit served on your blog, you earn. That someone should be a unique visitor, and not yourself, or someone that clicks many times on that ad. According to Nuffnang, you will be credited 3 days after the CPC campaign ends.

"Should your blog display a CPC ad but not generate any clicks on the ad unit, no earnings will be accumulated and updated". - Nuffnang.

MCPM (Metered CPM) campaigns

This is kind of special, as I have never seen it before. I think it is kind of an easier way to earn, but only for highlighted/ top/ popular/ higher traffic kind of blogs. So what happens is, advertisers buy visitors from a specific blog for a certain period of time. During this time, visitors would be able to see the advertiser's ads on the blog and ... the blogger earns after the number of visitors that the advertiser bought are completed.

Interestingly, Nuffnang doesn't really show ad units every single time. Which means, like I said earlier, you will see their button/banner stuck onto your advertising space without an ad. I believe Nuffnang have received many, many questions about this, but it is all explained in their FAQ section. Simply put, if your blog is not assigned to any ads from advertisers, then you will not see any ad units ie. you are not serving any ads at the moment.

Nuffnang Xchange

Yes, if you look at your bottom right, you can see a widget that shows you other blog posts from fellow Nuffnangers. It allows you to browse other blogs besides your own, and also invites visitors to your own blog. It is linked with Innit Chatter, and has a limited number of themes to choose from.

"In support of the average blogger, only blogs with an average of <300 uniques a day will be featured in the RSS tab." - Nuffnang.

Before you ask,

- You cash out when you reach 50 SGD, not USD.
- And yes, Nuffnang works together with Adsense.

What about Womobomo?

You must be interested to know how much I am earning on Womobomo. Well, this site just started not too long ago, so there are of course, not many visitors. I'm getting a fair amount of traffic annyway, enough to make 1.4 SGD currently. As you may have noticed, I placed Nuffnang ads on the sidebar at the right, so two points to note about that are:

1. It will not get clicked often, mainly because it is hidden below the sidebar widgets.

2. Advertisers would not buy my number of visitors because basically, their ads are not shown on a highly visible area, unless at a point of time, I decided to place them in my blog posts.

Introduction to PTC

When I was planning to write articles on this website, I didn't know where or how to start. I thought for a few days about the kind of topics that'd interest my readers, and the best answer I could come up with was: money. So I surfed the Internet for various money making methods online. There is a long list of them: Advertisements, freelance jobs, fiverr, blogging, surveys, ppc programmes, retouch jobs, photography, selling art prints, hosting businesses, writing jobs and many more.

This article focuses on pay per click (PPC) or paid to click (PTC) websites. For convenience, I'll just use "PPC" in this article. If you are new to this area, you'd probably ask, how does PPC work? Basically, it means getting paid when you click on a link. Lets say you're a starter and only wish to earn a few bucks without having to pay for anything from your own pockets; you'll fit into the category of "standard" membership in every PPC websites. It means you don't have to pay for anything, your membership never ends, you just have to be patient and keep clicking until you reach the minimum payout.

NOTE: For what I'm going to explain below, I will be using the example of standard membership type.

Normally, what you need to look for when you enter a PPC website would be:

How much you earn per click

Most PPC websites offer you $0.01 for each click. There're normally only 4 advertisements available for standard members each day. Some PPC websites may offer 4 advertisements for $0.01 each, along with few or other small advertisements for $0.001 - $0.005. From my experience, I have never seen any extra mini/small advertisements go higher than $0.005, so if you did, then you're lucky :)

Payment methods

The most obvious payment methods are Paypal and Alertpay. Some PPC websites offer both, while some only accept Alertpay. Many PPC websites have faced some issues with Paypal, that is why some PPC web owners only use Alertpay as their only payment processor. If you only have Paypal and do not wish to sign up for Alertpay, it'll be best if you find out the payment methods available on the PPC website that you're going to sign up for. You'd not want your efforts in clicking go to waste. If the PPC website you sign up for offers many other payment methods besides these two, it is to your benefit.

Days to process your payment

As a standard member, good PPC websites offer instant payment ie. Just as soon as you're ready to cash out and click on the cash out link, you'll get paid. Other PPC websites require 3 to 7 days to process your payment. Horrible PPC websites require more than 14 days to process your payment, which I highly do not recommend you to sign up for.

The minimum payout

How much you earn per referral click

Rented referrals: You buy referrals from the PPC website. They normally give packages, like 3 referrals or 10 referrals etc. Rented referrals only have a duration of 30 days, and after that you will have to renew them again. To renew, you can either do it manually or by auto pay. Direct referrals: People signing up for that particular PPC website under your name or using your referral link are classified as direct referrals. These will not expire and the clicks will always be recorded.

To end this article, I need to remind you that what I wrote above is based on standard membership types, where you earn bit by bit without investing a single cent. There are of course, very expert PPC members investing money and reaping large rewards out there, and I have seen them posting their payment proofs as well; however if you are a starter, I advise you not to invest in any PPC websites unless you are very familiar with it already. Also, please look out for scam sites. They are, surprisingly, extremely easy to recognise: Would you believe a website offering lets say... $100 per click? This is the time to exercise some of your brain cells.

The birth of Womobomo

I was getting a little bored while watching Criminal Minds one day, so I decided to visit a website that I have not browsed for years - Blogger. I have no idea why I wanted to; I just decided to, and that is how I thought of the name Womobomo. I wanted something unique, something special, something that no one has ever had. And... TADA! I got that name, out of nowhere. I obviously love Womobomo, or I wouldn't have spent one whole day, I repeat, one whole day on "beautifying" it. I literally spent two hours trying to search for a perfect (Yes, only a perfect one) blog theme, which is what you are looking at right now. I believe you will feel how I feel when I first set my eyes on it.

What content would I be posting on Womobomo?
Starting to get a little excited about Womobomo, yeah :P? Well, I have decided for Womobomo to be a monetization website, whereby reviews, articles, giveaways, contests, or anything that you can think of that is related to "$$$" will be seen posted here. I intend to give honest opinions about money making websites online and how one could make money online by just using a laptop with internet access. I also welcome all (Indicating all dwellers of the internet) to voice their opinions by commenting on each post I make. I would be very glad to read through all sincere comments to improve Womobomo to the fullest extent.

What do I mean by monetization stuff?
Hoho, that would be giving all the fun away. Lets start with some basic stuffs. If you have been reading articles on "making money online", you would have already understood some simple ways to earning extra cash online. Note that I used the term "extra cash". I dislike it a lot, when people start thinking they can get a full time job online, at home, earning thousands a month, without prior experience or knowledge. In fact, that is the most stupid way of thinking I've ever came across.
Unless your full time job in real life involves spending some time on the internet, or unless you are a professional freelancer with more than 3 years of experience working online, or unless you're a 5 years plus internet dweller with a large portfolio of website layouts/logos, or unless you are an extremely talented artists who can do produce a few pieces of both traditional and digital arts per week, or unless you can knit/sew/handcraft like an expert that mommies out there favor, there is only a 1% change of earning big bucks online for you. I reemphasize that earnings online are only extra cash and can only be seen as extra cash, 20 bucks earned online per month to fill your pocket should be sufficient for an average internet dweller.

What happens if I get unpleasant comments on Womobomo?
Like I said, I encourage my visitors to comment wherever they deem fit, be it the layout, the way I put my ads, my posts, my pages... really, whatever you can comment on, feel free. I will read through your comments, even if it is a rude one, because I believe I have to read or else I wouldn't know if it is a rude one or not. *Wink* Anyway, the only people that will get blocked from Womobomo are disgusting spammers that I will not tolerate, other than that, I am fine with anything. Minor link promotions, rude comments, unnecessary comment, out-of-the-topic questions, weird FAQs, and anything else that you can think of, are all acceptable on Womobomo. I believe in interactions between myself and my readers.
