Wonder Woman Movie Script: The Heroine's Journey

Act One
1. Ordinary World - Diana lives peacefully and happily in Themyscira in the company of her mother, Hippolyta, and her Amazon sisters.
2. Call to Adventure - Steve Trevor's plane crashes into Themyscira, Diana saves Trevor. Menalippe informs Hippolyta of Ares' plan for a world war.
3. Refusal of the Call - Hippolyta calls for a contest to select an Amazon to bring Trevor home and defeat Ares. Diana wants to participate in the contest, but Hippolyta forbids her.
4. Meeting with the Mentor - General Philippus advises Diana to follow her instincts. After Diana wins the contest, Athena gives her the Lasso of Truth.
5. Crossing the First Threshold - Diana brings Trevor home to Boston.

Act Two
6a. Tests - Diana adapts to Man's World. She carries out heroic feats. She teaches the Amazonian ways. She takes part in talk shows. She carries out dialogues with world leaders. She fights against General Tolliver's army.
6b. Allies - Diana meets Julia and Vanessa Kapatelis. She also employs Myndi Mayer as her PR agent, with disastrous results.
6b. Enemies - Ares commands Tolliver to destroy Diana. Myndi schedules Diana for talk show appearances, with bad results.
7. Approach to the Inmost Cave - Diana speaks to the United Nations General Assembly, but is ridiculed. Tolliver's army attacks her in New York harbour.
8. Ordeal - Diana is disheartened and flees back to Themyscira. She is shunned by her Amazon sisters.
9. Reward - Hippolyta shares how she overcame adversity, anger and shame to defeat Heracles. Diana is touched by her mother's love and experience, and resolves to defeat Ares.

Act Three
10. The Road Back - Diana returns to Boston. She is in time to rescue Trevor with Julia. Etta Candy leads them to the nuclear facility where Tolliver is.
11. Resurrection - Diana stops the nuclear missiles but not international war. She confronts Ares. Ares tries to cast doubt on her mission. She defeats his demons. Using her Lasso of Truth, she forces him to recognise that war will lead to his ultimate defeat. Ares surrenders.
12. Return with the Elixir - Ares gives Diana a new, more difficult mission, which she accepts. She vows to work with world leaders to ensure peace. She gains newfound respect from the public.

Wonder Woman Movie Script: What's this about?

As an avid moviegoer, I've always been fascinated by the film making process. And every good movie starts with a good script. Turning my interest into a hobby, I even signed up for and completed a screenwriting course conducted by a local screenwriter.

During the course and since then, I've acquainted myself with the basics of screenwriting. I'm relatively familiar with the process, from the logline to the outline to the treatment, then scene breakdown, the first draft, the second draft and on and on until the final script. In addition, I've also become familiar with story formats that work, in particular, Vogler's "Hero's Journey".

Now, to put theory into practice, I've decided to try my hand at writing a full-length movie script. But why "Wonder Woman"? For one thing, she's my favourite super-heroine. Unfortunately, like a lot of super-heroes, turning her story into a movie seems to be unlikely, due to studio development hell.

I think that's a waste. And so I've set out to write a movie script for her. My end goal is to improve myself in screenwriting. And if Warner Bros. comes knocking on my door (for good reason), then all the better!
