Hi All,

Everyone is so tired here; had company this weekend and planned to go to the Texas Renaissance Festival. Unfortunately, because of unfathomable decisions by some city officials, the last little town you pass through on the way to the festival decided to block the highway for several hours. Traffic jam was miles and miles and miles long! We finally found an alternate route -- added about 50 miles to the trip, but we got there hours before anyone who remained in the traffic jam.

Do the Right Thing

One of the best pieces of advice my Dad ever gave me: "When you face a situation where you're not sure what to do, just do the right thing".

Sounds simple and obvious, but I think a lot of times we're looking for the EASY thing or the CHEAPEST thing, or the THING THAT'LL CAUSE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TROUBLE ... rather than the right thing! And ... we always know what the right thing is!

World Series Reading!

Hi Everyone!

I'm sorry I'm a little late -- had planned to do this last night but I got caught up in the World Series -- as you may know, I'm from Houston so was easily sucked in!

I really don't watch the Astro's that much -- when Bud Selig made them move from the National Conference to the American Conference, I had a hard time following them. I'm kind of old school at times, so I like the National game better. In the National conference, it's a strategy game -- you use your entire roster and constantly adjust pitchers and pinch hitters. In the American conference, it's a physical game -- you just let your best ten players play most of the game. Not a lot of strategy.

Anyway, even though I prefer National Conference baseball, it is World Series time after all --

OK, enough about baseball, let's go on to this weekend's reading.

Hi --

Woodsong here again with another Tarot Reading! Typing this up is much easier than when I did the video reading-- allergy season is hopping in South Texas, plus I just got back from the dentist. Put them both together and even I can hardly understand me when I talk.

The basic message of this week's reading is that while we may get excited about something, others in our life may not share that same excitement -- and that's okay. We just want to consider their feeling should we pursue whatever it is that's captured our fancy!

Okay to Feel Down -- But Don't Stay There!

Fine Tune!

Hi All,

Back for another beginning of the week Tarot Reading. Have an interesting one today.

So many of us fall into and continue a particular path -- we do the same sorts of things week-to-week. But -- we really ought to think about "auditing" ourselves every now and then. Just take a short amount of time to review where we are and what we're doing ... are there things we can do to improve our prospects? Do we need to reanalyze our goals? Do we even have goals!

Have a really screwy reading for this weekend -- normally I get a "Desire-Action-Outcome" reading when I do a three card spread. This time it came out a little different and unexpexted -- it was more of a "Desire-well let me tell you something first" spread!

Glad to make it in time for the weekend reading -- as always, things have been hectic over here! I'm finding that all this free time I was anticipating was kind of an illusion -- but at least it's been interesting.

Got an interesting reading for you this time -- thoughts that it might be a good time to starting thinking of something you want to do -- something you might want to achieve. Not suggesting you start a business that'll overtake Amazon (but maybe!); perhaps planning and planting an herb garden -- or tuning the carbs on an old car (or learning how to do it) -- rearranging furniture so your home path flow works better ... whatever. This might be a really good time to start thinking and planning ... and starting ... such endeavors!

Hope your week's begun welll -- mine started off busy and is getting even busier! Hoping it'll wind down soon.

My blues band (the new version at least) has our first gig this weekend! Wish us luck -- I'm expecting things to get less hectic after that.

Hi All,

Hope you've been having a good week -- it's been pretty busy here. We're doing some painting and such in the house, so have been moving furniture and books (and books and books!) around a bit. The blues band I play in has an upcoming show, so we've been putting in a little extra practice lately. Not much time left over for other things!

Woodsong Reading -- Labor Day was nice ... but back to work!

Hi All,

Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend! We managed to empty out a storage locker -- a task we've been putting off for quite a while. Why is it you always find you have to do labor on Labor Day?!?!

We're all watching Hurricane Irma really close. There's a front moving in from the Gulf that should direct the hurricane northwards -- but it's so unclear just exactly when/where it's going to happen. Some folks are going to get hammered pretty bad -- if you're in the path, be prepared and move out to safety if you can. It's a scary thing and I really feel for everyone who may be affected.

Let's get on to this week's reading -- I'd like to start doing a series of "beginning of week" and a "beginning of weekend" readings. If it works out, I may start doing some additional ones as well.

Woodsong "Rune Cast" -- Hurricane Harvey Hosted!

Hi Everyone!

It's been about a bazzillion years (actually only 2 plus -- but it feels that long) since I've been here. I am so sorry for the delay, but I think things will be better from here on. I've recently retired from a job that took up much of my time -- so hope to devote my regained time to these readings again!

Most of y'all know I live just west of Houston in between Housotn and Katy. I'm still in the Houston Metro area, so I usually just say I'm from Houston (because no one knows where Katy is!) It started raining last Friday -- it's Tuesday right now and the rain hasn't stopped since. You've probably seen the tragic (and inspiring) images and stories from Houston proper -- heart-wrenching stories all. Makes you realize that this is what the USA spirit is really like.

We've been very fortunate in Katy -- have only received about a fourth of the rain that Houston's seen. We have some flooding in the area in low spots, but for the most part are okay. Pretty much every highway and major road is flooded, though -- so there's no getting in or out. Was a little worried about one of the flood reservoirs that's threatening to overtop the levee -- but levee top is 104 feet above sea level -- my house is 120 feet above, so I think we're okay.

Let's take a look at the reading! I'm going to do something completely different -- we'll do a rune cast rather than a tarot reading! Rune Stones are a Nordic tradition -- they somewhat similar to Tarot, but seem to have a more base or personal orientation. Let's give it a try:

I used a set of runestones that I created and cast three stones in a Past-Present-Future stance. Here's what it looked like:

These three runes are Dagaz, Sowilo, and Algiz

Dagaz is in the "past" position. Dagaz suggests sunlight -- being able to clearly see things from different angles. Doesn't mean there aren't any dangers, but instead suggests there aren't any hidden dangers. So -- any reads or opinions you have on a particular issue in you past is probably pretty safe ... you're unlikely to have missed anything significant. The way you feel about something is appropriate and defendable. It might not be a position you arrived at gradually -- could be a sudden realization or revelation.

Our "Present" position is Sowilo -- it suggests potential success of the life changing variety. This suggests the energy, ambition, and focus to attain this sort of success is available to you. Doesn't mean it's going to happen automatically -- you still have to make it happen. Does suggests that if you apply yourself, success is within your reach.

The "Future" position? Algiz suggests protection and safety. Use it to shield what you've manage to attain from opposing forces. Retain your focus, become stronger because of it. Protection includes building and increasing allies and friendships!

When we put thse together, it sounds something like this. Where ever you are in life right now, past issues have shaped you to bring you to this position. Don't flounder wondering "why" -- those reasons are clear to you if you look honestly and fairly. Do you feel change is necessary? Well, change takes energy, focus, and desire. Sowilo suggests you'll find these abilities within yourself if you just reach for them. If you do, you can ensure the sort of change you deem necessary. Once you've done this, the game isn't over, though. You'll probably see some opposition -- shield yourself, protect yourself from any opposition or doubt. Feel good about what you attain and what you'll discover about yourself as you do so. Building new friendships is a likely side effect, too!
