Garden or Deck Chair Plans

The following are a couple simple wood plans for chairs that you might call “Deck Chairs”, “Patio Chairs”, or “Garden Chairs.

The first is from Lowe’s. The picture is linked to the free woodworking plan. You can print the plan and bring it into a Lowe’s store. You should be able to leave with all material needed (lumber and hardware).

Free Cat Tree Plans

Thanks to a free plan request from “Janet” on 6/23/2009, we have compiled a short list of cat tree plans. In Janet’s case, she is looking to build something so that her cat can sit higher up while on the porch (my guess is that the cat wants a better view).

Here are a few plans to suit the needs of a beginner or intermediate woodworker. Good luck.

Portable Potting Bench Plans

This bench is also great since it can double as a portable serving cart for those outdoor parties. This is a very versatile bench that should be perfect for my wife’s mother’s day project. How about yours?

Cedar Potting Bench Plans

The following plan is for a potting bench that calls for cedar wood. Cedar is terrific since it is naturally resistant to the elements. It isn’t going to hold up like a pressure treated wood, but western red cedar doesn’t have all of the chemicals associated with that product. When shopping for cedar, you will probably have to call a building supply company. I prefer to use 5/4 radius edge decking for my outdoor cedar projects. It is sturdy and abundant.

On to the garden potting bench. Notice the nice design on this unit. It has a grate that acts like a flat surface and will also allow your material to be brushed through. A nice concept.

Here is a garden bench plan from The Progressive Farmer (John Deere Company). The woodworking plan is a simple one and has some terrific features. In fact, you could almost call this plan a “Green” one because it is essentially a framework design. The potting bench has three drawers that are simply a plastic container hanging from slides. Ideal to swap out as needed.

This is a simple garden bridge plan that is the perfect woodworking project for early spring. This bridge gives the appearance of an arch due to the arched railing, but the bottom portion is a pretty simple straight run.

Mission Style Bookcase Plans

This is a beautiful mission style bookcase plan. You might call it “Craftsman Style”, as you might find in furniture from the Roycroft movement. It isn’t a free plan, but this is a beautiful project. I built this for my own home with a few modifications. The cabinet plans are incredibly detailed and easy to follow.
