Murphy Ann my babygirl 1997 - 2008

It was a beautiful day, July 12, 1997.  I had finally moved into my home and decided it was time for me to adopt a dog.  Dad and I had walked into Haven Humane Society to “just look around”.  As I was walking down the last isle I had heard “puppies”, cute puppies all six of them.  There was one little girl who gave me that look of “please take me home with you”.  The rest was history.

In 1999 I had to design a website (as my thesis) with a product that the public could download for free so I put my “graphic artist” skills to work and created free downloadable animated email stationery for Outlook Express.  I had to come up with a name for my website so I titled it, “Email Stationery & Graphics Pawed by SwisBeagle” after my precious babygirl Murphy my Greater Swiss Mountain dog.  SwisBeagle became world known as did Murphy, after all it was her website and her pawing that created the email stationery.  She became a household name and became a beloved friend to so many fans all over the world.  Murphy would receive so many gifts from strangers.  She entered into the lives of many.

Murphy had many names; Mermee, babygirl, Sweetie girl, SwisBeagle, Murphy Ann, Swissy, Applepandowdy, Pretty girl and Child of fur just to name a few.  She was always there for me through good times and bad.  She never talked back to me and was such a good protector and best friend.

She never complained when I dressed her up for Halloween or Christmas.  She kept me warm at night and gave me unconditional love as I with her.  She was my child with fur.

On this day, August 14th, 2008 at 6:30am she walked into Grandpa’s bedroom and then proceeded to my bedroom only to find me not there so she climbed the steep steps of the stairway to one of the upstairs bedroom where Stace my twinsister was sleeping.  Stace’s Beagle “Socks” was sleeping on the bed and my little baby boy Eddie aka Doodle was sleeping on the floor.  Murphy laid down next to Doodle and went to sleep.  It was only minutes later that Eddie my little Belgian Tervuren started to cry and pawed at Stace while she slept to wake her up.  Stace woke up and looked at Eddie as he walked over to Murphy and put his little nose and paws on Murphy.  Stace couldn’t wake Murphy.  Murphy entered into Rainbow Bridge and was met by my mom who had passed away just two months ago.  I can only think that somewhere Over that Rainbow Murphy is wagging her tail because she was now with my mom (her Grandma), Chrissy, Joey, and Joyce.

I can no longer fear death because I know that when it is my time to go I will see her again.

I will miss her heavy breathing on my legs as she begged for food at the dinner table, I will miss her loud barks at anything that made a sound, I will miss her snoring, I will miss her following me around where ever I go, I will miss her warm furry body as she laid next to me while watching TV in the winter, I will miss her eating her favorite grass, I will miss giving her massages every night, I will miss trying to trim her toe nails and her “show of the teeth with her growl” as I attempted to do so, I will miss talking her for walks, I will miss watching her as she played with Doodle, I will miss her tail wagging whenever she saw me, I will miss her laying in the hall, I will miss her more than anyone or anybody.  I loved her more than life itself…she was after all my babygirl, my daughter, my child with fur, my best friend, my companion.

I think Murphy knew she was going to Rainbow Bridge, she had taught Eddie (I call him Doodle) the do’s and don’ts around the house, where to patrol and who to bark at.  Murphy and Doodle were inseparable best friends.  Doodle looked up to Murphy as a mother figure and Murphy treated Doodle like her son.  They were so cute together.  They were never far apart from eachother and I am glad that Doodle was there with Murphy when she passed.  We will never know if Murphy had a heart attack or passed because she was so depressed that Grandma had passed two months prior.  The fact that I haven’t been home this week didn’t make it easier to the little girl.  I feel somewhat guilty that I wasn’t there for her when she passed, but God needed her more than me I guess.

God rest her little soul.  I can only be comforted by the thought that she is with my mom now and she is not suffering.  She surpassed her age span by four years.  I loved that little girl!  I will miss her so much!!!!

Goodbye my sweet little angel and as we prayed together everynight I will say it to you this last final time:

“Now we lay us down to sleep, we pray the lord our souls to keep, if we should die before we wake, we pray the Lord our souls to take.  I love you Murphy…wOOf”!

It just doesn’t get any better than this!  Gotta love ya Sophia!

MIAMI (CBS4) �?? The CBS4 I-Team has discovered a potential device touted by its inventor as a way to save you the hassles of flying. The device is said to be convenient as a way to save you time when you’re trying to fly. but CBS4 I-Team investigator Stephen Stock found out the convenience comes with a big price, at the expense of your civil rights.

Flying today can be stressful, inconvenient and downright difficult. Just consider the crowds, the lines, the hassles and the lost luggage that often comes with a trip to the airport these days.

But what if there was a way to make it all easier? What if you had one small device, say a bracelet, which carried all your flight information and other data to make things easier?

This bracelet could even track you and your luggage.

Former United States Air Marshal Jeffrey Denning describes the idea this way: “The bracelets would take the place of boarding tickets it would also work as a GPS to track air travelers and their luggage.”

Jeffrey Denning is intimately familiar with airline security. He owns his own private security company near Chicago. And he worked as a US Air Marshal for three years before quitting to start up and run his own company in 2007. 

Denning says airline passengers might use this bracelet technology in place of a boarding pass but the government could use it for something else.

“And here’s the shocking part,” Denning said. “No pun intended. If the passengers act up it (the bracelet) would shock and immobilize them for several minutes.”

That’s right. If the flight crew decides that you’re getting out of control or posing a threat, to them or the plane, they could simply engage a computer, press a button which would activate this bracelet, shocking and incapacitating you for as long as several minutes.

“I guess the design was that for any air passengers who would become a terrorist or be a terrorist,” Denning told the I-Team. “The bracelet has a capacity to shock the whoever is wearing it kind of like a police ‘taser.’”

CBS4 Investigator Stephen Stock asked Jeffrey Denning “When you got this letter what was your first reaction?”

Denning replied “You can’t do that! We’re America!”

The former US Air Marshal not only runs his own security business he also serves as a current Washington Times aviation security analyst and blogger. Jeffrey Denning first obtained the DHS letters from 2006 and passed them on to the CBS4 I-Team.

Jeffrey Denning\Former US Air Marshal : “It’s in essence binders and chains,” Denning said to describe the idea of putting these bracelets on air travelers. “(By) putting an electronic handcuff on them (passengers) and then shocking them (passengers) like a dog if they get out of line.”

“That whole proposition was never part of the proposal to us,” said a DHS official.

In an interview with the CBS4 I-Team John Verrico, a spokesman for DHS’s Security and Technology Directorate, denies that anyone in his office ever considered these bracelets for use on general aviation passengers.

“The only use or proposal that we had received was to use it in transporting prisoners,” Verrico said.

U.S. Representative Mario Diaz-Balart reacted swiftly to this idea of these bracelets being used on general aviation passengers.

“If this thing has any life still in it I guarantee I’ll take care of it,” Diaz-Balart told the I-Team.

The Republican Congressman who represents southwest Miami-Dade, Monroe County and part of Collier County, serves on the House Transportation committee and its aviation subcommittee. Diaz-Balart said believes that even the idea that anyone would consider using these bracelets on regular passengers crosses the line.

“This is an option obviously that is a lot more suitable for either dangerous animals or for dangerous prisoners not for normal flying customers,” Diaz-Balart said.

CBS4 investigator Stephen Stock asked Jeffrey Denning how seriously he thought this idea was received in Washington.

“You’ve served in air marshal service for three years is it inconceivable that this would actually be seriously considered?” Stock asked.

“At first I think “No!” Denning answered. “But then again I worked for three years for the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) as a federal air marshal and I’ve seen some outrageous things. So I wouldn’t put it past them,” Denning said.

The CBS4 I-Team discovered a lot of chat on the web about this bracelet idea.

There have even allegedly been death threats made against the DHS official who sent these letters as well as against the officials in the Canadian company that posted the demonstration video.

For his part, Jeffrey Denning says he quit the US Air Marshal’s service because of what he called gross mismanagement.

Denning said he’s speaking out now about these bracelets because of his concerns about both the safety and the basic civil rights of every American who flies.

Second Life   (abbreviated as SL) is an Internet-based virtual world video game launched on June 23, 2003, developed by Linden Research, Inc (commonly referred to as Linden Lab), which came to international attention via mainstream news media in late 2006 and early 2007.^[4][5] A free downloadable client program called the Second Life Viewer enables its users, called “Residents“, to interact with each other through motional avatars, providing an advanced level of a social network service combined with general aspects of a metaverse. Residents can explore, meet other Residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade items (virtual property) and services with one another.

There is no fee for registering an account or participating in Second Life, however registration of “payment information” (i.e. a credit card) is mandatory in order to participate in some functions, such as owning land or islands, as well as to access certain support features such as Second Life’s support portal and online forums.

In 2008 Second Life was honored at the 59th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards for advancing the development of online sites with user generated content. Philip Rosedale, President of Linden Lab, accepted the award.

Second Life is currently available in several languages, the main ones, at the moment are English, German, [2],Japanese and Korean.

(CNN) — Federal officers charged with keeping terrorists off planes are now searching their own ranks for staff who told CNN that few flights were protected by air marshals.

The Transportation Security Administration rejected as a “myth” CNN’s report that less than 1 percent of the nation’s daily flights carry armed federal air marshals. Now the agency is conducting an investigation into who talked to CNN and who encouraged other agents to do the same.

A spokesman for the TSA confirmed the investigation.

Spokesman Christopher White said a TSA investigator is looking into the “possible unauthorized release of sensitive and classified information to the news media by covered parties.”

“As part of this ongoing investigation, several individuals, both current and former employees, have been contacted as is typical in any investigation,” he said in an e-mail to CNN.

CNN spoke to more than a dozen current and former air marshals, pilots and federal law enforcement officials for the report, which aired in March on “Anderson Cooper 360º.” Repeatedly, the sources told CNN that as few as 280 of an estimated 28,000 daily flights had armed federal air marshals aboard. That amounts to less than 1 percent.

“That number is absolutely wrong,” said Kip Hawley, the head of the agency.

He was speaking earlier this year before Congress, which held hearings into the Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) in the wake of CNN’s reporting.

CNN learned of the TSA investigation from a former federal air marshal and Iraq war veteran, Jeff Denning. He was not connected to the original story.

Denning said he was called by TSA investigator Greg Neiderer a few days after he came back from the front lines of Iraq.

Denning said Neiderer grilled him on an e-mail he received on his personal account while he was in Iraq.

The e-mail discussed plans to expose corruption in the air marshal service. The e-mail encouraged recipients to contact CNN correspondent Drew Griffin if they had information about the hiring of airport screeners as air marshals, the elimination of mandatory psychiatric tests for new hires and managers lying to Congress. CNN only recently received a copy of the e-mail. CNN did not have it when the report aired in March.

Denning said he forwarded the e-mail to current and former air marshals. Denning said Neiderer wanted to know who sent him the e-mail.

Nothing in the e-mail contained sensitive security information, Denning said, nor did it encourage anyone to disclose information that could endanger the public.

“I was petrified,” Denning said of Neiderer’s phone call, explaining how he contacted CNN full of dismay that the TSA was harassing him and his family to find out which of his former colleagues had talked to the media.

“In Iraq, there were a lot of dangerous things, but never have I been so scared [as] when the federal government called me on my home phone and said I want to know about your personal e-mail account and what you have been sending.”

TSA’s Hawley refused repeated requests to be interviewed by CNN. Neiderer did not return repeated calls or e-mails.

In an e-mail, TSA spokesman White confirmed Neiderer’s involvement, but denied that the TSA or the Federal Air Marshal Service had accessed anyone’s private e-mail accounts, via subpoena or otherwise.

However, he added that “all e-mails sent to government employees on a government system are always eligible to be read and reviewed as is outlined on every computer in TSA, including the FAMS.”

White did not say how much the investigation is costing taxpayers or how long it would last.

With a few phone calls, CNN was able to find the author of the original e-mail.

The author is an air marshal who asked that his identity be concealed for fear of retribution by the TSA.

The marshal said he sent the e-mail because for six years, his colleagues have been trying to alert Congress about continuing problems in the air marshal service. Many have left, he said, because of low morale and complaints about management.

A May 2008 report from the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General said that the agency “currently experiences a 17% voluntary attrition rate and low employee morale.”

“Congress doesn’t want to hear it,” the marshal said. “They stick their heads in the sand. We tell them about the corruption. We give them examples and proof and I think they are scared of what they see. And they don’t want to deal with it.”
