be sure to set the thumbnail size in media settings, because Wordpress will generate automatically different sizes of all images you add from computer if you have post-thumbs enabled.

I see you started already, but your frontpage displays the full size image, not a thumbnail. On uploading images, do you see in the lower part of your media popup that you get different images?

it might look like this:

Thumbnail (100 × 100)
Medium (251 × 300)
Large
Full Size (400 × 478)

there are some older posts where you actually get the right image in frontpage (page 5 Irresistible Offer : Free Sennheiser ..) shows the image
wp-content/uploads/banner2-250x250.png
and the posts itself shows the same image in big size
wp-content/uploads/banner2-300x266.png

with correct media settings you should get Thumbnail 200x200 now.

Okk Joern. Now on I will upload the images to my posts rather than 'hotlink' them. Thanks for the crucial piece of advice.

Can I still change all the uploaded images from the posts one by one editing them. What do you suggest.

And after that will all the thumbnails be fine.

until now I didn't realize that you actually 'hotlink' images from other sites ..
no wonder any thumbnail stuff (timthumb as well as WordPress post-thumbnails) is not working for you.
So loading your frontpage I access not only your site, but all other sites hosting the images are accessed to supply the image.
This might work for a while, but eventually the other sites will block you or just remove/exchange an image.
So hotlinking is not what I would do ..

Images from other hosts you can't resize actually, just change the display size with style.css
So your 'drag 'n drop' is easy for you, but webmasters do not like this.

Regenrate thumbnails will only create thumbs of images you host just like timthumb will only cache images you host (with some exceptions).

And regarding the Thumbnail excerpt issue, I have already tried with Thumbnail Regenerator. But it is not working. I need to mention here that till last month I used to upload images (media) to library by conventional method of inserting an image. Now I simply drag and drop images to my post editor from different sources. But neither of them are affected from it. The different shapes and sizes of the thumbnails are looking a bit weird and affecting the layout of the site. I wish that all the thumbnails be of the same size.

I think you have to talk to the feed suplier or read their guidelines.
This feed is working only on a site using an authorized API key.
go to http://www.offergrid.com/about-gridapi/ to read some details, they even have a live chat system asking if you need help.
As soon your site is able to display this feed inside a widget, we can try to get it into a good looking shape.

did you try first of all a sidebar wiget under Admin/Appearance/Widgets/RSS
If this shows the content of this xml-link you would be one step further.

Do you want to show a 'Flow' of text only like a news ticker?
Are there images in this feed and you want to display them like a slider?

The steps are:
parse the feed to get a html code
put this code into a css-styling
display the content styled as slider or static

Wordpress has a feed-parser (SimplePie) built in and almost ready to use

Hi, the upper problem: I would say the last (second one) </div> in the code you give me is too much, because this div has no start below '} else {'
so delete it and check frontpage and singles in your browser.

The thumbnails:
actually in your setup the plugin is using the original image of your post and just tells the browser to scale it to a width of 200px.

The "Thumbnail For Excerpts" plugin would take thumbnails generated by Wordpress if you would have...
In the Plugin's FAQ http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/thumbnail-for-excerpts/faq/
they say:

check the thumbnails for your images. If you don't have, regenerate with this plugin or with Regenerate Thumbnails, signed by Viper007Bond.

So you might have to (re)generate your thumbnails.
(the Regenerate Thumbnails by Viper007Bond plugin is good, you need it just once...)

before doing that, you should set the media settings in your dashboard, for your 200px images I would use for the Thumbnail size - Width 200 and Height 200 and tick 'Crop thumbnail' to get cropped square images.

Before that you should make sure there is the line:
add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails' );
in your functions.php to enable Post Thumbnails, read here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Thumbnails

so with post thumbnails enabled in functions.php, setting a size in Settings - Media Screen and finally running regenerate thumbnails you should get square thumbs in your frontpage.

Joerm One more thing please..I want all my thumb excerpts on my home page to be of same size..you know its looking a bit weird with images of different sizes. I am using "Thumbnail For Excerpts" plugin. Please help on both the things. It'll be of great help.

Masteradmin,

I was just wondering what are some good sites, that I can post my Wordpress development services to get "gigs"> I have been using Craigslist to post my development services in the "Services" section and I am also on Elance. The issue with Elance is that because it is a "Bid for a gig" site, the gigs expire in many days. I want "instant results" like I get on Craigslist. Would you know of any places that I can either market my services or search for Wordpress related gigs for freelancers?

inside your div class="boxentry" you have to create a new div or give the image a class="crop" to set the negative margins just here.

Masteradmin,

So here is the site in question.
The thumbnails on the main page for each video are pulled from youtube. Youtube automatically puts a black border or space above and below the picture.

I was thinking a few ways to eliminate them.

One would be to use timthumb.php to resize the image, but then that would shrink the whole image including the black space as that is part of the image.
I was thinking about finding in stylesheet what controls the img property for the images in that divide, but then again that would simply reduce the image which the black space is a part of.

Is there anyway to automate this or does the client have to import the images in fireworks or photoshop and crop the black space and then resave the file.

Yes I figured it out. I had to copy the class that , the subscribe form was inside of to have all of the stylesheet effects applied. I am becoming a Genius like you Masteradmin.

Here is the site in question.

As you can see at the bottom, in the footer div, there is a div class called "subscribe" for the subscribe box. I simply want to know how to move the subscribe box to the sidebar.
without it breaking up or rendering incorrectly.

I do not have the theme files, but I found the problem.

It's all about one </div> entry to much on your single page view.

I show you just the part which creates this problem.

On your frontpage you show the header including you this two 'Featured' sections. These are inside <div id="top" class="clearfloat">

sourcecode of your frontpage:

ALL THAT STUFF... starting in div id="top" and the div closes below

Now the same part on single post, there is no div id="top" but there is a closing </div> before the id="middle"

                      </div><!--/#top-->

With this closing </div> the browser is closing the <div class="container"> already and the following stuff has no container...

look for the template file with the line </div>
I guess this is header.php in your arthemia. this line has to be moved up inside the 'switch' to show top or not. Switches end often like this:

<?php } ?>

so if this line is just before </div> you should move the div above this line.

KEEP ORIGINAL FILES (BACKUP) TO BE ABLE TO SWITCH BACK IF IT GETS WORSE!!!

Hey Thanks Motorness.. it worked..I found a widget to convert my thumbnails.
Here I am having another problem with my single posts. When any post is opened, all the settings are distored and the page looks fishy. Please look at it.

Masteradmin,

I have a client who customizes the color for iPhone cases, screens and keyboard buttons. He wants to set up a store whereby people can choose what color they want for the feature of their choice. They will pay for it including the shipping and then they will ship the iPhone to him in California where he will customize the iPhone feature color. He wants to generate a shipping label for them, so that when they go to ship their phones to him using UPS or Fedex, they don't have to pay for a second time. They already paid because the cost including a shipping fee in the cart.

So what I was thinking is, getting a theme which has a built in ecommerce cart type of feature and in the shipping area , the customer will enter HIS shipping address and then he will have theirs through the billing address information. That is one way

Otherwise, if they enter their shipping information, then the shipping label will have their address, not my client's and I am not sure if UPS or Fedex will charge them to enter another address.

You can go to this site[/url] Click on Login
and enter admin and jenny123 for password. Then click on logout. When you click on logout it takes you back to the login page as it should.

Now on Godaddy, they have given me a stupid temporary URL which is a test url I can use or subdomain .

Here is the[url=http://www.codeglam.com.previewdns.com] same site with GoDaddy
WHen you try login in and then log out, it takes you to the login for the Dashboard of wordpress.

the problem seems to be a line of code I can see only in source code of IE ??

get the firefox sourcecode and also the IE sourcecode and compare the 10 lines following the div class="bigright" (about 617 or 618)
In IE sourcecode I see even in green color that the additional line <span>Product Brand ... makes the following .. .. </div> not readable by the browser.

For IE the div class="bigleft" with the image is inside the div class="bigright" (float right)
In Firefox it seems to be correct following 'bigright' as a new div

Use the IE Development Tools (F12) and work you in...

I discovered that

I broke down the 3 div in the container that holds them into names
The contact div is called content_right. It is floating "left"
The ad div is called div_contentadbar also floating left".

Try putting float right for the contentadbar , would this help?

I just found how that the "BAD" host puts a limit on the concurrent resizing number on images using timthumb.php. That is why not all of them get processed, whereas on my new host, there is no such limit. Thanks for your great help again!

If it's like that - okay!
just imagine you switch later off the site where you link the images from...
than there will be no more image to hotlink to.
Better to host images yourself within your site, you will not use bandwidth of another host additionally.

Masteradmin, but all of the images are being called from the old domain name, so how come the first three on the site are showing? yet the 2 remaining are not? Also, try refreshing your browser a few times and the ones that don't show, show? How come?

I think it was the host I am on. They are bad.

I uploaded the wordpress install to another host and it works PERFECTLY

in Arthemia free the code is looking for the plugin ( if(function_exists('wp_pagenavi' )) and if not ( else ) it will use the default pagination of Wordpress, looks like this:

the problem are the links to the images in your posts.
Taking just one image from the site on the new server:

It takes the script from maaximumman and the location of the image is codeglam...

By moving to a new domain name, you have to update links inside posts too.

I think inside your posts the image path is still going to codeglam?

If this theme is using a custom field you entered manually, the path there is still the old one.

There might be a helpful plugin for you to find and replace entries in your database:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search-and-replace/

Backup your database first (export in phpmyadmin)

Open the plugin and search (SEARCH ONLY) for codeglam.com/v1 in all tables

It will tell you where you still can find this text-piece

You could now search for

[code]codeglam.com/v1[/code] Without the 'code' stuff

and replace with

[code]www.maaximumman.com[/code] Without the 'code' stuff

in posts table

YOU CAN NOT UNDO!! If it doesn't work, just re-import the db to get the original version.

Masteradmin,

I transferred this site built on wordpress to a new hosting company. On the new host I am referencing the content using a different domain name. Here is that same site, on my new server

I exported, imported the database
Updated wp-config.php to reflect the new database settings
Even logged into phpmyadmin and updated the home/site url to reflect the new domain name

The problem is that some of the images on the site do not show but only after you refresh the page 3-4 times. Other images do show.

Any reason why this is happening?
