I know that people like it when they have a lot of twitter followers and a lot of Facebook fans and it gives a sort of boost to their ego but they need to understand that those followers and fans are not targeted and give no benefit to them. They are not interested in your product or service and they know nothing about you. I will be satisfied with 100 genuine Twitter followers and 50 targeted Facebook fans rather than thousands of untargeted people in my social network. Facebook did well to suspend these services and I hope these do not return any time soon.

What is Anchor Text?

Anchor text is basically a clickable word or a combination of words (usually a keyword) placed within the article body or in the resource box/author bio section of the article. The article directories that use HTML submission forms like Ezinearticles.com allow you to place anchor text in resource box at the end of an article. It is important to note that the keyword you use as anchor text should be used in the article body as well. You will have better chances of ranking in Google for that keyword if you have used it in the article body. You can use anchor text in your website as well to improve internal linking but HTML tags are not required in advanced CMS systems like WordPress.

How to Place Anchor Text?

If you do article submission on article directories then you will have to use the tag given below.

In the above HTML tag, “keyword” is the anchor text. It is an example only, you can replace “website” with your website name and can place your actual keyword in the place of “keyword” in the tag. So if I want to put my keyword “SEO Article Packages” in this tag then this example will be something like this.

The people reading the article will see a clickable keyword, SEO Article Packages in this example, and you can see it is clickable and HTML tag is hidden from you. So if I want to link my quick orders page and want to rank my article for SEO Article Packages then this tag will be something like this

Inbound links:

Inbound links or commonly known as “backlinks” are the links pointing to your site and search engines like Google like it when you have thousands of links pointing to your site but sometimes Google penalizes you for it too if you have poor quality and irrelevant backlinks pointing to your site. Yes, because you have no authority over the inbound links which others post for you. Google only likes it when relevant links point to your site but as you have no control over them you cannot control which sites point to your site. But if your content is rich with information and unique then chances are that people will link to your site and there are more chances that those links will be “dofollow” and you will get some free and targeted traffic to your site. Inbound links that are “dofollow” also increase your website’s PR and SERPs and are considered healthy for any blog or website.

Outbound links:

These are the links pointing to other websites from your website and you have more control over these links. People have different views about outbound links and many say that it is against the SEO rules and search engines can penalize you for doing this. This approach is wrong; I know Google cannot penalize me if I put a link to Google inside my post. My theory is that you should link to relevant content if it gives more information to your readers. Bloggers are of the view that you lose traffic when you put outbound links in your posts but if you share useful resources then chances are that your readers will stick to your blog and will come back in search of more useful resources. But if you do put outbound links in your posts then make sure they are pointing to relevant, original and informative content.
