WFRN is pleased to highlight three new and recent books by scholars who will be joining us at the 2026 WFRN Conference.

Research Handbook on Social Care Policy
Edited by Costanzo Ranci and Tine Rostgaard
Published December 2025
Learn more: https://www.e-elgar.com/shop/gbp/research-handbook-on-social-care-policy-9781839103681.html

Edited by Costanzo Ranci and Tine Rostgaard, one of WFRN 2026’s keynote speakers, this This Research Handbook provides a comprehensive exploration of recent advances in social care policy scholarship. Spanning a breadth of issues and policy programmes, it presents a systematic, empirically and theoretically grounded overview of social care policy research, addressing a notable gap in a field often dominated by issue or country-specific studies.

Women’s Economic Empowerment and the State
Edited by Rhonda Breitkreuz and Marian Baird
Published May 2026

This timely book examines the global trend of women’s economic empowerment as a critical pathway to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5: gender equality. Expert authors integrate feminist, intersectional and critical human ecological perspectives to explore the role of the state in enabling and disabling conditions that contribute to greater wellbeing and equality for women worldwide.

Gender, Family and Policy: International Perspectives
Edited by Sirin Sung
Published February 2025

In this prescient book Sirin Sung brings together an array of expert contributors to address questions about gender equality and its relation to family, the workplace and society as a whole. Chapters examine the issues surrounding work–family balance across the globe, considering dual earning families, the division of domestic labour and the impact of family policies on the labour market.

We look forward to welcoming these scholars to WFRN 2026!
