Double or Single Sink?

Right now I have a single, white kitchen sink. I like the fact that it is big and roomy, but the white enameling has become a bit scratched and chipped and I thought I might just*look* at new kitchen sinks. However, now comes the question - Double or Single Sink?

Single sinks are nice because the are big and you can fit a lot of dishes in there (in case you can’t wash them right away like me). Double sinks are convenient because you can actually have dirty dishes in one side and still have a side free!

I don’t think I would opt for a double sink where one of the sinks is a lot smaller. I just don’t think that this would be useful. Instead, I think I am leaning toward either equal sizes or one slightly bigger than the other.

My favorite so far? The Kohler Staccato. It has a unique design and has one bowl slightly bigger than the other.

What kind of sink do you have and do you like it?

I Want New Tile

When we first bought our house, we had old plastic flooring in the kitchen. After decided to add an upstairs, we decided that we would tile our kitchen floor at the same time. Unfortunately, we picked out really ugly tile (we thought it was good at the time). The tile always looks dirty and is a pain to clean.

When of the times on my home repair list is to get new ceramic tile for the kitchen. This time around, I want a little darker color that will hide the dirt a bit more. While I love some of the natural stone tile, I think that is a bit out of our price range. This is my favorite so far:

Hmmm…. maybe I will have to give it a bit more thought.

You Know It’s Summer When. . . Slip ‘N Slide

Slip ‘n Slide was first introduced in 1961. I remember having one when I was a kid and it was a great summertime activity. I know at my house, summer has official started when we pull out the Slip ‘n Slide. Back in the 1960s, there was only one version, a big long piece of plastic, today there are so many different versions to choose from, some more fancier than others!

Sleek, Contemporary Furniture

I just completed a survey for Opinion Outpost (they are one of my favorite survey companies and I have earned $100 with them so far) about contemporary furniture. I love the sleek designs and now I’ve decided that I need new contemporary office furniture.

I found this cool, sleek desk that would fit perfectly in my little office space that I have. And it looks so modern too!

Inappropriate Web Pages

If you have a child and you don’t want them to access certain web pages you can block them from your web browser. However, sometimes this does not always work. Instead, if you have a router (such as a Linksys router) installed in your home, you can actually block the page there.

To do this, you will need to login to your router to block the page. If you have more than one computer connecting to your router, you may be able to choose only certain computers that you want to block. Check your router’s user manual to get the full details on how to do this.

Summer Crafting

I always pick up a few summer crafts for my kids to do when they claim that they are bored. i offer to give them more chores to do, but they would rather paint! This summer, they received two different kits at a birthday party. My daughter is learning how to paint like the masters:

And my son, is painting rocks to look like pirates!

Both of these kits are made by Walter Foster. They have a lot of cute kits that will keep your child busy this summer.

I Need a Rain Break!

Today, my nine year old daughter played two soccer games. The first one was great, they won 1-0. The second game was played in the miserable rain! The ended up losing 3-0 to a much bigger and older team, so I think they did well.

We just can’t seem to get a break from the rain here in New Jersey. I originally grew up in California, and now I am longer for a more desert climate. Las Vegas sounds good right about now. I could stay in the Riviera hotel and Casino, which is just gorgeous. The hotel has four towers which surround a beautiful pool. The movie Casino was shot there as well as other movies and television shows.

I would love to be able to dry off and spend a week at the Riviera!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!!

It has been so rainy here! We are almost through with June and I would swear that this is April! I don’t think that we are going to have a very good summer. According to the Farmer’s Almanac:

Below-normal rainfall will continue through the summer, with the threat of a significant drought. The one benefit from a late August hurricane would be some much-needed rainfall. Temperatures will be below normal, on average, with the hottest periods in June and mid-July.

I hope they are right! I want to buy some new outdoor furniture for my patio and show it off. Wouldn’t this Paris Contemporary Cast Aluminum Garden Bench look great?

My Competitive Son

My three children are all fairly competitive, but my youngest is probably the most competitive. At the last couple of soccer games, all he has wanted to do is score as many goals as possible. At one game he scored over 10 goals and I tried to tell him to slow down! In this video, I am sure that you can guess that he is the boy in the red shirt.

A Six Year Old’s Perspective

Fortunately, children forgive all your faults. While I am thinking about how I hate having my picture taken and I need to figure out a fast weight loss program, my son, on the other hand, loves to sneak the camera and take lots of closeup pictures of himself, me, and various other things which I sometimes can not figure out.
