The Steps

STEP 1 -

Sign up with a site like ebay, amazon.com, olx.com etc. for selling products from their site. (Else, you can build an e-commerce site yourself and sell the products from the site. However, it is a very difficult proposition, I would say.) You may have to pay a listing fee for showcasing your products for selling, in some site. Keep in mind about this, while fixing your commissions for selling.

STEP 2 -

Fix up a percentage of commission for selling other people’s product. The cost factors should be kept in mind, i.e., investments in buying camera, internet charges, commuting to the actual seller’s place, advertising costs, listing charges in product selling sites, delivery charges etc. Normal service charges are around 30% of the selling price.

STEP 3 -

That is the biggest question of all? To an amateur it’s a painstaking process. But after you get to know the nitty-gritty’s of the trade, it will be a smooth process for you. The major steps are as follows:

Step 1 : Categorize: The first thing will be to find out all your digital photos you have stored or ‘photostacked’ in your computer. Select the one’s you wish to sell online. Then you will have to categorize them into different groups. For example, landscapes, cars, flowers, happy family, church, religion, bridges, towers, children, old men, sea beach, sunrise, catastrophes, highways, etc. keep in mind that all kinds of photos can be sold online.

Step 2 : Keywords : The next step will be to find out the keywords for each photo. A person who wants a photo, searches the net with appropriate words which are known as keywords. So, the keywords with which they search must match with the keywords of your photo. A research on popular keywords must be done before tagging each of your photo. To start an online money making business of Forex trading you must know certain facts. I have already explained the outline and concept of this online business - i.e., what is FOREX, what is Forex trading, what is Forex market and how online Forex trading is done, in my earlier blog post.

As already explained, Forex trading has some similarity with stock trading business. But, online Forex trading has some unique difference.

The most important facts about Forex Trading are as follows

Forex market timing - Unlike the stock market, Forex market is open 24 hours a day, for five days a week. The reason behind this is, Forex trading business is done globally. Forex traders deal globally with foreign currencies of different countries of different time zones, while stock trading is done through stock exchange of different countries. While Forex market reaches its closing time in US, it opens up in many different countries, except on weekends. So, for Forex traders it is an advantage, since they can perform the business at any time of their convenience, day or night.
Tracking profit opportunities - In stock trading, you will have to keep track of thousands of companies for buying and selling shares to make a profit. But in Forex trading, a trader will have to keep track of the prices of leading currencies of the world. The leading currencies are US Dollars (USD), Euro (EUR), Japanese Yen (JPY), Canadian Dollar (CAD), British Pound (GBP), Swiss Franc (CHD), New Zealand Dollar (NZD) and Australian Dollar (AUD). There are other currencies which are also traded, but most of the trading is done with the said currencies.

Your blog post once written and published should be reviewed again and again for site engine optimization. It is not always possible to write a blog article and to see all the aspects of SEO at the same time. So, most of the time, just after writing the blog article, we publish it.

You may have written a blog article earnestly and passionately. But if it does not receive the traffic, and if your blog article is not read by visitors, the whole purpose of blogging will not be served and you will feel despondent. Whether links and back links are there for seo purpose.
How many ads (Google adsense, affiliate ads, others) are there in the blog post. Are they placed in the right places? Are the ads disturbing the readers ?
Whether the right search terms are applied.
Whether all the links and backlinks are working properly.
Whether you have incited the readers for making comments on your post?

Checking all the above points systematically during review process will make your post better and your visitors will grow.

In this blog post, I will give you some blogging tips about inserting photos and images legally in a blog post. We insert photos and images in a blog post for illustration and for dressing it up. A picture is worth thousand words. Pictures and images also breaks the monotony of reading texts and words continuously. But the illustrations should be inserted judiciously, so as not to clutter everything in one place and annoy the readers.

We use photos, images, video's, you-tubes which we own and possess, but when we use the same things that belongs to someone else, we should be aware of certain rules and facts.

It's easy to find the perfect photos and images suitable for your blog posts from Google Images, and to save and upload it in the blog article. But wait. There are intellectual property laws which you should know and consider. Photos and images cannot be used without the permission of the copyright holder. You would be facing a copyright infringement lawsuit if you do so. Tineye is a site where copyright holders can track who is using their created property.

In this session of blogging tips, I will discuss some legal points about using photos or images, which are properties of somebody else. The rules are :-

In this blog post I will give you some blogging tips about the length of the blog post. There are several important factors which should be kept in mind while writing a blog post. And the length of the post is one of the important factors for optimizing SEO.

The expert blog writers are of the opinion that 350 to 500 words are ideal for a blog post. A bit of research on 'how to blog' and 'blogging tips' will let you know about this fact.

But why should a blog post be written within 350 to 500 words?

Remember, a visitor searches the internet for specific information on a certain topic or subject. They are in a hurry to find some facts quickly on a subject / topic, but they don't want elaborate details or broad explanations. Your information should be to the point and you should discard all the words that bears less relevance to the subject. 'Brevity' is the word, and you should follow it strictly.

The visitors would have bought a book on that subject if they wanted all the details and entire aspects of the subject. There's a difference between a blog post and a book. You should understand this.

Too short a blog below 250 words is not a good enough length where you can convey all your information on the subject matter.

A blog too big of more than 1000 words would become boring and make the readers impatient and they will click away from your site. Enthusiasm and passion can get you carried away, and you may churn out thousands of words happily, but you will feel despondent when few readers read it.

Then, jot down the points you wish to convey to your readers. Try to add some unique points in your blog, which readers won't get anywhere. If you can do this, readers will come back to your site again and again for fresh ideas.
Plan the different sections of the blog post - like sub titles, introduction, body and conclusions.
Now, start writing the blog post keeping the above points in mind. Don't get carried away while writing and stick to the essentials of the subject matter. If it becomes too big with too many words, contemplate on splitting the blog post into more articles than one, and make a series.

WHAT IS CPM

CPM means COST PER MILLE. In Latin mille means thousand. It also means cost per thousand. So it means, the cost of showing one thousand advertisements impressions online (in online marketing). CPS is COST PER SALE. It is also known as PPS (Pay Per Sale). It is the pricing system in online advertising program, where the website / blog site owner is paid for the sales that is directly generated by clicking on the advertisement (by the visitors of the website).

CPS or PPS falls under the group of CPA (Cost Per Action), where the advertiser pays the website owner for the actions committed by the visitors towards the eventual sales of the product / services that the advertisement is for.

In online transactions, the CPS advertisements on the publishers website is given an unique identification code. When the visitors clicks on the advertisement, it is tracked and if finally, a sale is generated; the website owner gets a percentage of the sale price.

CPL or COST PER LEAD is the same kind of model as CPS or PPS.

Affiliate Marketing Programs usually offers CPS or PPS model of advertising, where the publisher gets certain commission on the sales generated by the advertisement which he/she displayed.

ADVANTAGES

1. The advertiser pays according to the results only.

2. The online advertisement is shown for unlimited period of time.

3. There is no risks for the advertisers.

DISADVANTAGES

1. The publishers gets its revenue only when the advertised product / service is sold.

WHAT IS CPC. WHAT IS PPC.

CPC is COST PER CLICK. It is also known as PPC (Pay Per Click). In this model of online advertising, the advertiser pays the publisher or website owner when visitor clicks on the advertisement. Payment depends on number of clicks mainly, and does not depend on the sale of the advertised product.

CPC or PPC is used to direct traffic towards the advertisers website and the advertiser pays the publisher for doing this service.

Website owners or publishers who utilize CPC or PPC ads displays an advertisement when keywords matches with the advertisers keywords or when content of the publishers website matches with the content of the advertisers product / services. These advertisements appear near the relevant content or where the publisher chooses. These advertisements are called ‘sponsored ads’ or ‘sponsored links’.

Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing are among the most popular CPC / PPC providers.

This model of advertising is prone to frauds and the PPC ad service providers have tough time to deal with this menace.

How cost per click is determined?

An advertiser has to keep in mind, that he gets the most out of a advertising campaign. The advertiser would judge the potential traffic of a website, the contents of the website and the potential customers they may get from the ad they put up on the site. Flat Rate CPC:

The contents which gets the most attention of the visitors are also priced higher the same way. However, advertisers can negotiate for better rates of advertising.

In the bid based CPC model, the advertiser bids in the auction hosted by an online advertising company. In this system the advertiser competes with other advertisers. Each advertiser informs the online advertising company, the amount they are willing to pay for advertising their product in a certain spot. When the winner to the auction is determined, the advertiser can advertise the advertisement in the slot.

Advantages of CPC / PPC ads

1. The advertiser knows the actual amount he will have to pay for each click.

2. The online advertisements will be shown until a certain number of clicks is generated.

Disadvantages of CPC / PPC ads

1. There is no relation with sales or sale leads.

2. Weak performance, as far as sales is concerned.

3. This system is vulnerable to click frauds.

WHAT IS CTR

CTR means CLICK THROUGH RATE. By CTR we gauge the success of an online advertising campaign.

To measure the CTR, the number of clicks on an ad is divided by the number of times the ad was displayed (impressions) and presented in percentage.

For example, if an online ad was displayed 1000 times, and was clicked 10 times, then the CTR would be 1%.

Nowadays, if you achieve a CTR of 2%, it would be considered a very successful ad campaign. Earlier, in the 90ies, the rate used to be much higher, but after that the rate has fallen, now averaging 0.2 to 0.3 percent.

WHAT IS CPI

CPI means COST PER IMPRESSION. The cost of one impression is derived from CPM (Cost per Mille) meaning cost per thousand impressions.

A single appearance of an ad in a webpage is called an impression. Every time an advertisement loads in a webpage, it is tracked and counted by the ad server.

In online advertising and marketing this is an important term. It is used for measuring the cost of an advertising campaign. In e-commerce or e-marketing, this technique is always used and measured.

WHAT IS eCPM

eCPM means EFFECTIVE COST PER MILLE. It is used to calculate the effectiveness of the advertisements shown on a publishers website via CPA or CPC ad program.

Here, the publishers will be able to compare his earnings on CPM basis, instead of CPA or CPC ad programs.

WHAT IS RPM

RPM is REVENUE PER MILLE, meaning page revenue per thousand impressions.

It is measured by dividing your estimated earnings by the number of page views you received, then multiplying by 1000.

Page revenue per thousand impressions (RPM) is calculated by Page RPM = (Estimated earnings / Number of page views) X 1000

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CPA and CPL

In my earlier articles I had explained CPA and CPL mode of advertising. As you know,

CPA stands for COST PER ACTION

And

CPL stands for COST PER LEAD.

I have been asked by some followers, the difference between the two, since both sounds the same. Here is the difference.

1. In CPA advertising program, the advertisers pay only when their goods or services are sold involving credit card transactions.

In CPL ad campaigns, the advertiser pays for the interested sales lead (may not be direct sales). Here, the advertisers are interested in the contact information of the interested person whom they may directly contact for prospective sales. This kind of campaigns is suitable for brand and image building, and for approaching the prospective customers in due time, themselves.

2. Advertisers of CPA marketing campaigns have little control on displays of their ads. It is controlled by the publishers. They display the affiliate ad in the position they think right. Publishers browse for offers and decides which ads they want to display and where to display.

Whereas, CPL advertisements are controlled by the advertisers. The advertisers select contextually relevant websites to display their ads.

3. CPA ad campaigns are low in volume, whereas CPL ad program is high in volume.

How much can you earn from Google Adsense?

This question is often asked by many people. This question is very difficult to answer due to many reasons. There are many factors which come into play when ads are placed in websites.

The factors are:-

1. The number of ad units displayed in the site.

2. The number of ads placed in the number of webpages and websites.

3. The content of the pages.

4. The relevance of the ads with the contents.

5. Geographical area.

6. The traffic of the websites where the ads were placed.

Therefore, so many factors act simultaneously for adsense income. It is difficult to calculate adsense earnings beforehand.

While learning ‘How to Blog’, a blogger must know about Google AdWords, keywords, Google Adsense, CPC (cost per click), and most importantly what keywords demand the highest costs per click ? What are the most expensive keywords ? Which keywords are most competitive in terms of high search volume ?

Before going into the main topic “How to find keyword for blog”, let us find out the meaning of keyword.

What is keyword ?

In many languages, such as C and similar environments like C++, a keyword is a reserved word which identifies a syntactic form. Words used in control flow constructs, such as if, then, and else are keywords. In these languages, keywords cannot also be used as the names of variables or functions.

Some languages, such as PostScript, are extremely liberal in this approach, allowing core keywords to be redefined for specific purposes.

In Common Lisp, the term "keyword" (or "keyword symbol") is used for a special sort of symbol, or identifier. Unlike other symbols, which usually stand for variables or functions, keywords are self-quoting and evaluate to themselves. Keywords are usually used to label named arguments to functions, and to represent symbolic values.

Languages vary as to what is provided as a keyword and what is a library routine. Some languages, for instance, provide keywords for input/output operations whereas in others these are library routines. A blogger must keep SEO (Site Engine Optimization) is mind when they start blogging. Peppering the content with the right keywords can bring a blogger huge benefits since the pagerank will be better. When we talk about seo for blog, keyword is one of the most important things for success.

Though most of the bloggers know how important keywords are, most doesn’t know how to find the best combination of the keywords, in order to achieve the best results. A lot of research is needed on keywords to bring in organic traffic to the blog site. Keywords are also important for PPC campaigns, from which a blogger can earn money online.

This brings up the question “How to find keyword for blog”.

Today, in this blog post I’m going to show you how to find keyword for blog. For this we will need some tools in order to succeed. I will introduce you to some keywords generators.

With the tools below, you will have to start with a main keyword which is related to your website. For example I will use “website design” as a main keyword.

I will use Google External Keyword Tool to find out the relevant keywords:

Log on to Google External Keyword Tool. This Page will open.

Step 1. In the section “word or phrase” write the word or words for which you are searching for the keywords.

Step 2. ‘Broad’ type selection will give you a broad selection of keywords.

‘Exact’ will bring the more relevant keyword for your search term.

“Phrase” will bring the same search term text in keywords.

Step 3. Some filter options are available under Advanced options.

Step 4. You can filter your keyword search by selecting Locations, Language, etc. Global monthly searches and local monthly searches are important. Global Monthly Search Volume helps you to determine how much searches were made for a specific keyword and helps you to find out if that keyword is worth your attention.

Step 5. Hit the search button and you will get the results. The fields are easy to understand.

Competition : - You will find the words high, medium and low in the competition field against each keyword. It is better to use low and medium keyword with high number of monthly searches.

This is the way to find keywords from Google External Keyword Tool.

Another keyword researching tool is WORTRACKER. You can use it to find the right keywords for your blog.

To use wordtracker you should enter a keyword or phrase and click the “Search” button. The results will be a list of most searched keywords and phrases related to the one you are searching for. On the right you will see the number of searches generated for that keyword.

When I decided to start my blogging the first question that popped up in my mind was what platform should I use for my blog posts ? In other words, where to blog ?

As you all know, that Blogger and Wordpress.com are the two most popular free blog hosting services available on the web. But I thought myself – which one should I choose ?

I had to do some research to find out the features of Blogger and Wordpress.com . I had to evaluate the pros and cons of both the blogging platforms. At the end, I decided to go for Blogger. But every individual will have their own likings, own tastes and own necessities for blogging. So, every individual will have to decide on which platform they will choose. There are many more popular blogging platforms available on the net, but here we will discuss the pros and cons of using Blogger and Wordpress.

To give you a better understanding of the two blogging platforms I am talking about and the pros and cons of using those I would like to use a table for explanation. You will be able to compare the features between the two platforms and decide on which platform you will use.

When I decided to start my blogging the first question that popped up in my mind was what platform should I use for my blog posts ?

As you all know, that Blogger and Wordpress.com are the two most popular free blog hosting services available on the web. But I thought myself – which one should I choose ?

To give you a better understanding of the two platforms I am talking about and the pros and cons of using those I would like to use a table for explanation. You will be able to compare the features between the two platforms and decide on which platform you will use.

What is RSS?

When I first started to write my blog posts I never had any idea of RSS. But soon I came across this term and I tried to find out what RSS means and what it can do to my blog posts or websites.

I will try to explain ‘What is RSS’ in this blog post, and hope that the readers will be benefitted by the knowledge.

What internet users did in the older times ?

Earlier internet users used to ‘bookmark’ websites and blog sites in the browser and returned to them regularly to find out the latest development in the sites.

But this method of bookmarking had many minus points, such as:

1. You will have to do the work manually again and again.

2. You will miss the latest developments if you forget to check the bookmarks.

3. If there is no new development in the bookmarked site, you will see the same information again and again.

4. If you are tracking many sites, it may get a little complicated at times.

Now, the most popular way of doing so, is using RSS feed. But what is RSS ?

RSS is the technical method used by millions of internet users throughout the globe to keep track of their favorite websites or blog sites.

RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’.

Now you can tell a website to let you know every time that they update their website or blog site. That is the thing what RSS does for you. The technique of RSS lets you save all the latest activity of your favorite site and you can read it in your own suitable time. The process saves you time and labor.

It is like subscribing to a news channel or magazine where the new issues are delivered to your email box at regular intervals. But here, the latest publishing’s are delivered to your RSS reader, every time they publish any new material in their website.

You must understand the advantage of RSS and how to use it. At first, you may find it a bit difficult to understand, but once you get along, you will not be able to go without this useful technique.

How to Use RSS

1. The first step : If you want to read the latest publishing’s of your favorite sites via RSS, you must first get a RSS Feed Reader.

If you search the net you will find innumerable feed readers with variety of features in them. But I would suggest a free and easy to use feed reader like Google Reader or Bloglines. These sites are very easy to use. You will find that both these works like your Email. After you subscribe to the feeds your unread entries will be shown as bold ones. You will be able to read it directly from the feed reader. After you read the entry it will be shown as ‘read’. You will also have the option of going right into the original website.

Have some practical knowledge about RSS feed reader. Subscribe to some feeds and you will be able to know more.

Where to find the feeds to subscribe to :

1. In your Browser :

It is probable that you will be able to locate the RSS Feed in your internet browser itself. Most of the internet browsers have it inbuilt in them.

2. On the site itself :

If you notice websites and blog sites, you will notice many links in the form of buttons in it. Among them you will find links called RSS, Atom, XML, Subscribe with Bloglines, and others. They will come in many colors, shapes and sizes.

This will mean that, you can subscribe to this website. You will be able to subscribe by clicking on the link and by following the instructions that usually follows.

What is a Blog ?

Before I go into the matter lets see what the authentic authors are saying.

Wikipidia describes it as:

‘A blog is a website in which items are posted on a regular basis and displayed in reverse chronological order. The term blog is a shortened form of weblog or web log. Authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called “blogging”. Individual articles on a blog are called “blog posts,” “posts” or “entries”. A person who posts these entries is called a “blogger”. A blog comprises text, hypertext, images, and links (to other web pages and to video, audio and other files). Blogs use a conversational style of documentation. Often blogs focus on a particular “area of interest”, such as Washington, D.C.’s political goings-on. Some blogs discuss personal experiences.’ Source.

Harvard Law explains it as :

‘A weblog is a hierarchy of text, images, media objects and data, arranged chronologically, that can be viewed in an HTML browser.’ Source

I will answer the question in simple terms:

A Blog is derived from the word ‘weblog’. A blog is a website, where articles, text and images are posted on regular basis and they are logged chronologically, usually starting from the most recent to the most older entries at the last. Each article on a blog are called ‘posts’ or ‘entries’. Adding posts to an existing blog is called ‘blogging’.

Facts about blog:

1. Blogs can be written on any topic.

2. Blogs are usually written by one person. But a blog can also be written by several persons, which is called group blogging or collaborative blogging.

3. Blogs are usually written on a particular topic. The topic can be anything you think of.

4. Blog communities have come into existence around particular topics. The members of the communities share their thoughts, learn, contact each other and do activities beneficial to all of them.

Blog Archive

5. Blog archives: If you see a blog page, you will find an article, or a couple of articles written on a particular topic and some few links on the page. You may get the impression, that there is not much on the topic. But there are many more articles or blogs written on the same subject, which you cannot see. They are all archived chronologically. You will be able to find them under “Archives” at the right side of the page.

When I will post this blog, it will show up in the main page of my blog site. The older entries will be pushed back into the archives. I have written many more blogs on the same subject, and if you are interested in them you will be able to find them out from the archives.

Blog Comments

6. Comments on blogs: After a blog post you will find a link for comments from visitors. Not every blog post have it though. A click on the link will open up a space for you to comment. You can put your comments about the blog in the space provided. You may also mention your email address, so that the blogger can contact you. The blogger has included this feature to converse with the readers.

A best way of learning about blog is to read some of them. After reading you will get much more knowledge on the subject.

Tranquil and Secluded

What you need for blogging

In this blog post, I would like to talk about the atmosphere around you during your writing of the blog posts. You must have heard of writers moving to secluded, tranquil places during their writing.

When you are writing an article or a blog post you are also a serious writer. You too need an atmosphere conducive for excellent writing.

While writing blog posts make sure you can concentrate on your blog topic. For this you require some quiet place, silence and solitude.

While writing your articles make sure you are not disturbed by your family members, even your small child. Let not the daily chores peep in your mind. Let not the TV sound distract you. Do not sit near your land phone and switch off your mobile for a while. Instruct your family members that you should not be disturbed if visitors come to see you.

This calm atmosphere will help you think clearly on your blog topic and you will be able to think systematically.

Normally when you write on a blog topic, you first research on the subject. You accumulate all the facts and figures from books, libraries and internet. Now in the calm atmosphere it’s time to deliver - to deliver an excellent, lucid, readable article without errors.

The serenity of the atmosphere will help you in organizing your article – the introduction, the body, the facts and figures in the right places, keeping keywords in mind and then the conclusion and signing off.

So, what you need the most during your blog writing is calm and serene atmosphere. You need silence and solitude.
