Somebody asked for a way to reset his saved locations list. It seemed like a good idea, so now at the bottom of your saved locations list there is a reset button. Resetting your saved locations does not change any of your work orders, so you don’t need to worry about that.

I just put together one of the things that has been most requested.

Owners of a company can now export work order data to a csv file that they can open in excel or their other favorite spreadsheet program. Access to the export is available from the main menu in the “owner” section.

I tweaked the printable reports again. I also fixed the printable view you can get when you calculate hours.

I’m planning on adding back in an export function so you can easily get your data out if you need it. Other than any bug fixes, I think that’s what going to be next.

After that, I’ll look into scheduled/repeating work orders and maybe an optional work order request system for those of you who have a business that needs it.

I just uploaded some minor changes. The main thing you’ll notice is that assignees are now alphabetized in the various selectors (“Add Work Order”, “Edit Work Order”, etc…) and on the main “open work orders” screen. Also, inactive assignees were showing up in a few places where it didn’t make sense for them to be.

Okay, I just fiddled with the printable reports a little bit more, making sure that the date a work order was assigned shows up on every printable report. Also, I changed the date format on all the printable reports so that it’s a little more readable.

I also built a little tool for owners/managers in the Saved Locations screen. It allows you to automatically generate a saved location for every location that’s already been used in previous workorders. You can choose to screen for locations that have been used at least 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 times. It will also be sure to not create duplicates.

If you run a business where you have a few locations that you use all the time, now it is easier to keep track of the workorders for those locations.

Managers and owners should see a “saved locations” option on the main menu.

On your “saved locations” page, you can add locations:

Once you have added at least one location, a button will appear everywhere you are asked to enter in a location. (new work order, edit work order, search work orders, & reports) You can still type in a location, or you can click the button to select a saved location.

Now you don’t have to worry about mistyping your locations.

After about 10 minutes of database migration and another 20 or so of general hair pulling, the new WorkMelon is up and seems to be working correctly. Here’s some of the stuff which has been changed in the new version.

Major Interface update

Changed hours calculation process for payroll

Improved reports

Ability to automatically email an assignee when you assign a new work order.

New user level – owner. Now your account can have owners, managers and assignees.

New password reset process.

As I’ve mentioned, you’ll need to use the password reset process before you can start using the system.

Owners should log in and change the company name in the “Company Settings” menu option, and then they should look at the users list and make sure everybody has the correct role.

As a side effect of our database migration, you will need to use the password reset function to get a new password.
