I have shown you my sky often. At top, looking west from the front of my house. And underneath the view from my side door looking West and showing the Empire State Building, NY.

This day the bright yellow and orange was gorgeous! Who needs to go to the Caribbean for incredible sunsets...

Yeah, I know there are no overhead cables and lightpoles blocking beautiful sunsets in the Caribbean! Oh well!

The Statue of Liberty is a huge statue located in New York Harbor. It was gift to the USA from France.

apple
Some apples are green, even when they are ripe.

caterpillar
A caterpillar eats a lot and will turn into a butterfly or a moth. It is also called a larva. Some caterpillars are green.

turtle
Turtles are slow animals that have a very hard shell.

leprechaun
A leprechaun is a make-believe tiny person from Ireland who searches for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

iguana
Iguanas are plant-eating lizards that often live in trees.

I played with photo editing in Picasa with my post today. This is a very fancy gate attached to the side of the house in Queens, NY. I added some blurring around the edges of the shot. I hope you like it!

These impatiens flowers are probably gone now. I took this shot back in early October.

I found these orangy-RED items in the Walt Whitman Birthplace out on Long Island, NY. The pitcher has RED trim!

This bit of RED (ooo a RED door!) resides in front of the South Street Seaport Museum, NYC.

Gee, I hope I won't have trouble finding more RED in the Winter! What with all that WHITE snow!

Take This Tune - Barry Manilow

Okay, so here I am posting for Jamie's Take This Tune meme. This week she gave us Barry Manilow singing "October Goes." I real sad, poignant tune that I've never heard before. I loved it and cried through the entire song.

But when I think of Barry Manilow I think of "The Copacabana," a jazzy song that I love to sing to. When I went to YouTube I found a karaoke video - you know, just the words to the entire song and sung by Barry.

So first I sang (and danced) the whole song out loud in my office in front of my computer and then I put it up here for you to play.

Go ahead, sing your brains out:

I wanted also to post Hugh Jackman in the musical "The Boy From Oz" which is based on the life of Peter Allen who wrote "I Go To Rio" another up-beat dance number like "Copacabana." Actually I thought "Copacabana" was the song that Jackman did in the musical but it's not. Jackman does "I Go to Rio." So here's Hugh Jackman doing "I Go to Rio" from the musical (Are you confused yet?):

Do you see how one thing leads to another? And that's just what Jamie wants to happen when you play her "Take This Tune" meme. You are to take the song she posts and run with it.

Well, I've run with it and now listen to a one minute rendition of Peter Allen singing "I Go to Rio." After all, he wrote it and inspired it and "The Boy From Oz" musical. He was a very talented man! I miss him. He died from AIDS too young!

Looking at the Sky on Friday

This was the sky at 5:00 PM last Saturday as we drove the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway on our way home from my grand-nephew Birthday party. We're approaching the Kosciusko Bridge. To the left is the New York skyline and to the right the low residential and commercial buildings of Brooklyn.

The sky was so pink and blue: gorgeous pastels.

Afternoon shadows on Union Church of Pocantico Hills

The Union Church is very simple in its design and furnishings. The absence of religious symbols that early American Protestants objected to is apparent. Over the years, additions have been in keeping with the original design of the Church. The chimes in the tower constantly remind community members of its presence. Lovely stained glass windows are enjoyed by parishioners. There is a rose window, designed by Henri Matisse in 1956, in honor of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller.

Visitors to the Union Church also enjoy nine stained glass windows designed by Marc Chagall. Each window depicts a theme from the Bible. After exert craftsmen cut glass at the atelier, Chagall would actually paint on the glass in an attempt to recreate his original drawings. He added such details as facial features, a bouquet of flowers, animals, and birds to complete scenes in the windows, which were dedicated between 1964 and 1966. Three of these masterpieces honor the memory of John D. Rockefeller Jr., Michael Rockefeller, and Nelson Rockefeller.

A Trip to Sleepy Hollow

On Wednesday this week we went to Sleepy Hollow, New York. You've heard of this place before, I'm sure. It's located a little ways up into the state of New York where the leaves were almost at their peak. It's also the setting for Washington Irving's short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."

I took lots of pictures and I post them here today for you to enjoy.
