(New Year Resolutions)

Enter your resolutions to Google Task (https://mail.google.com/) and keep it in sync with whichever devices you are connected to (Laptops, smartphones, tablets etc)

If you are using a smartphone, download the relevant app like GTasks (Android) and use that as a reminder or check list always.

This is so that you dont have any excuses to 'forget' about the things to since the list is always with you.

1. Try everything twice.
On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:
"Tried everything twice. Loved it both times!"

2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever...
Never let the brain get idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,
spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6.. The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.
LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever..
Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips..
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county,
to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
I love you, my special friend.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance..

Remember! Lost time can never be found.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Wine does not make you FAT .....
- it makes you LEAN ....
(Against tables, chairs, floors, walls and ugly people.)

I dont know but I do learnt that things are moving so darn fast in the internet that speed are no more measured in units or metrics but by thoughts.

Thoughts that just make you go into the twitter or facebook to push it out what you are thinking; your feeling, likes and dislikes. This to me is a better channel to just tell the world or yourself this is my plight and this is my stand.

But blogging brings back to where it all started for me, putting thoughts in a more perspective stand and then wording them out. This also means more time needed to put them collectively which is a leisure these days to even have time for myself. This is also what I been reminded to slow down, to slow down...work less and spend more time on yourself, dont mess up your health.

Will I listen? I doubt so but I know I cant be selfish to just keep going on and on, cos I really love what I am doing. Meeting people, solving difficult problems, flying around, see the world. But I intend to start trying to slow down. I am looking to dilute or sell off some of the companies and just be focus on B-Secure Technologies till the next mile. :)

Another unexpected turnout was while the focus has been on Mobile Application Development for phones, it progresses to supporting more tablets instead. With Xappie.com up and running in March, the responses have been great with various manufacturers coming to us to develop apps for them and their partners and clients. The business unit focuses on iOS, Android and BlackBerry apps and services.

Now with more funds moving around, we can focus more on building in-house brand apps too, which shall be more of the focus in the next mile stone to hit.

We launched the Tracker (Free) with Samsung (Singapore) late last year together with the Galaxy Tab and the responses have been well received. But at the same time we also learnt better the crowd of Android users vs iPhone users too.

Tracker 2 is now on its way and it has additional paid features for users that want to expand their protection of their devices, especially the latest Nexus S and Galaxy S 2.

Roll with the Punches.
Try to break free from the problem by solving it along the way. There is really no point spending too much time sitting there thinking of a perfect solution to solve the every evolving problem. Just roll with it.

Carpediem. Seize the day for there may be no tomorrow.
I used to spend quite a bit of time to think if this is the right move or if this is the best one ... ended up precious time is wasted which could be better spent on other stuff. Just seize it and make a clear cut decision, Yes or No. And even if years later to come to regrets, just leave it as it is. No one is perfect and when should I try to be?

Trying to build a business is tough enough. Many a times, we make it more complicated becos we keep thinking that the road SHOULD be tough and full of Ups and Downs. In a way, yeah running startup is not easy but are we making life just a bit too difficult?

Why trying to be a millionaire has to be so difficult? Does it have to be?
Keep rolling. Wait too long to decide and you be rolled over.

Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing" When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the honey. Keeping a jar of honey in the sun will bring it back to its original liquid state.

Cinnamon and Honey
Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around. Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.

Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January,1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES:
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also, those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack.. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada , various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

ARTHRITIS:
Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

Other than having a great time with dad and mom and of cos with izel throughout the mahjong session, was attending this LFI a network marketing seminar. MLM in another word.

MLM is all about selling products via the downlines and getting bonus value from its sales. What makes this interesting to me is instead of any physical goods, the hint of a virtual goods under this brand 'iCallQ' a VOIP service where MLMers can introduce to their targeted groups of users/distributors etc. I am not interested to be one of them but it opens up the eyes on how mobile apps have evolve in a very quick successions in replacement of physical goods that can even be used in a setting like network marketing.

VOIP is no more new new but perhaps is becos of the business industry that I am in; where investing, buying/selling, creating similar or clones of it is just the day to day operation as you sit in the middle of it all in the startup scene.

The smart use of MLM and selling a virtual good via its army of runners is impressive, and does take the use of mobile apps to a different direction of not just selling over a app store or telco. However one thing that remains critical is how to get its runners train up to speed as you are fighting against the wave of changes that is constantly happening in the technology scene and always to keep them energized against those giving the similar service for free. And along all these, making money along the way for the runners and also the management.

To go IPO, it is not just a straightforward direction and this LFI is taking a huge risk to venture into this non-traditional method of raising fund. A lot of hardworking and smart thinking people need to be behind the scene to ensure that these executions can be pulled through.

Doing MLM selling a digital service can either cut it or not especially in a small country size with limited population and even if expanded to Malaysia or the regions, the number users of smartphones (data plans) and wanting to make that IDD calls will pose a challenge to the management and its runners also. All these need to be introduced to the training programs on how to overcome it all in a quicker pace.

Anything that our five senses can interact with are moving towards the internet. It is a matter of time the explosion will grow bigger as it is brewing the 'catalyst' effect here in Asia.

Many are losing their jobs to anyone that are willing to do it at a much lower cost, and as bosses need to ensure the bottomline and operation cost are low, naturally it makes business sense to replace the more expensive ones and get in the cheaper help. But try to be on the receiving end that you are too deemed expensive or someone cheaper can replace you easily.

Blame it on Globalization and see who they will blame for the plight that they are in. They blame China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia? No, that is only the surface.

Giving handouts is not what everyone is seeking, a justification why I lost my job becos you claim it is for the betterment of the country but yet the true blue Singaporeans discover that they not only have to fight for that rice bowl but whatever is left with the cost of living raising higher than anyone can catch up. The gap just get wider and wider and when again the justification is in that we need to help the poor, find out who made them worse off actually.

It is a triple combo whammy with having to fight the inflation, the sandwiched situation between lesser kids, ageing parents, the less appreciative government that got voted in, and the retirement age needs to be increased, soon and add that to high cost of even obtaining a public house to get married, to live and almost little space to stand while the cost of public transportation just keep accelerating.

But LTA knows best of cos, for idiots dont know they are one despite everyone telling them so.

The integration process is hasty and to many, there is almost nil as the streets, public transportation are filled with many that treated the country as just a stopover and the lost of identity just creeps up leading further and further detachment. What makes me different from them? Am I just a byproduct that are discarded becos I am not needed now? Was I foolish to always been a good Singaporean listening and taking in suggestions and directions and trying to have that Singapore Dream?

Is always easier to blame someone but is it our fault?

I dont give a shit about voting for which parties for the one that dont deliver, goes. It may be better to take a leap of faith or blindness with another but it leaves a drier taste on what the oppositions are up to. Except a few that truly speak out but majority of them made themselves like batman, appearing only when Election is near. How different it is from those PAP MPs that suddenly appear next to you while you are having that wanton mee to shake your hand or the entire flat turning upside down to have them coming to your house with hampers to ask you for vote.

A kick on the ass is more likely if I can stretch that leg fast enough.

This may sounds like a rant. It is.

No point depending on who is going to run the show or who is going to be the saviour for the day. Either way, politics is dirty. It be naive to think that these groups of people either PAP or oppositions really care about you. No one do things for no reasons even under the pretext that we are to serve the people. Which People are you referring to?

Vote yourself the course of actions to better manage your life than putting it on their hands. At least you know where the steering goes and blame only on yourself when you hit the wall.

- Establish B-Securetech.com globally.

This was set up quite unexpectedly just as I was exiting BAK2u to focus on Mobile App Development.

It has since gains some traction as we are not only developing our own software but also into manufacturing the Android tracking device too. The responses have been great with companies from the banking, finance, logistic and govt related agencies testing it.

- Assist Izel to establish her business Chainofbeads.com for the international market.

Developing mobile apps for her business is in the pipeline, with the first one out in the iTune App store. Freeware

- Other investments/ divestment

The focus will be on more passive incomes run by other companies, which I believe the team is now more established than ever to run on their own within the ecosystem. More hands-off approach as the gang needs the space and freedom to grow now

Health-

- I need to exercise much much more and reduce the weight to 80kg
- Ensure parents take good care of their health

Leisure -
- A few more holiday trips with wifey and more time with the parents

Make better use of the time, packing as much knowledge as possible and enables me to draw these newly gained information when the time calls for. This is especially important when your action in your startup affects how the business will be in the short and long term. And also how your colleagues be affected by a bad decision made.

With available knowledge, on top of some experience it does help in keep a startup afloat. No matter how busy you are, read and read and read. It builds characters in you and help to shape you up in problem solving and seeing the world through reading.

What to read? Dont just focus on business related or self improvement topics, instead go for those that you are not interested or will never pick up. This is where you will see things differently and learn different new things. Why read only what you like for you may already know what is it that you are reading, except maybe some new stuff.

Read different to be different.

I am now reading this book:

The Leader's Handbook: Making Things Happen, Getting Things Done
http://www.amazon.com/Leaders-Handbook-Making-Things-Getting/dp/0070580286

However, with the tab just launched last week, we got out hands on it now.

Last Sat, a handful of the geeks gathered together to make a purchase with some going as early as 12pm (me) and a few others came later. I think we got a handful of 20 - 30 odd units just that day itself.

The most common questions asked how the Tab stack up against the iPad.

Instead of comparing between specs of these 2 devices, I rather go for what I like that makes this a better machine to iPad.

The size is smaller and more handy to use. I can just stuck it to my jean's back pocket and walk around with it, minus the risk of sitting on it of cos. Even though I have rather ok sized hands for a 1.83m height, I find it difficult to type on the iPad quickly, in its vertical position. The Tab makes is much easier to quickly send a text, email or record notes.

Format ... this is the biggest gripe I have. Whatever Apple says about Flash being harmful or whatsoever, Flash been around for years and many sites support it. The iPad just give you that blank page whenever the browser surfs to a flash site.

Also I prefer to just drag and drop whatever files in its raw format then to convert them just to view it off the iPad. To me it is a waste of time especially where I need to wait for hours to convert movies (mp4) just to get myself entertained. Waste of electricity, time and storage space.

External storage; This is another big perk for me. Files can be read and backup to any mini sd cards. This is extremely important for me as I dont have to load non-relevant information in the device, but making it more portable than ever with just the correct sd cards. Also I store different companies files in different locations and if I have to carry that iPad just to sync it, it just plain silly.

Game play; This I gonna admit the iOS has so much more to offer than Android. But I dont play games except the occasional Angry Bird, racing games and some bejewelled titles. But I dont spend more than 15 mins playing them so probably that is why to me the game play dont really matter to me much. But I believe Android is up and coming and will be bigger than iOS so for those that are concern about game play, either wait out for see the Tab beyond a game machine.

Camera; Many compared the price of Tab to the iPad but not many realized that the camera x 2 is such a huge huge plus point! VOIP apps work so great with a front camera that you can see each others why chatting! I travel a fair bit and while I love to have a skype conversation with my wife but if having to carry a laptop for a short trip, it just dont make sense to me. This is a big plus point for the Tab.

3-megapixel rear-facing camera & a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera

Design; Apple sets the benchmark and many other manufacturers copied or whatever nice words they can use, the design, look and feel is iPhone/iPad like. This is undeniable. I do hope that Samsung can add this other feature that I like on the iPad, a mechanical lock for orientation. And perhaps even extend it to other buttons like home, search, settings etc. There is a high chance that you can accidentally press on those buttons and kick you out of whatever you are doing. I got the same treatment when watching movies laying on the bed. While trying to adjust the volume (which the Tab has excellent speakers), I pressed the on/off buttons instead. Both buttons are designed too near to each others, need some use to it.

Battery; It is non-removable but that wont stop me from ripping it out in the coming future if the performance falls. Izel had the Galaxy S and while it is a very good machine the battery life is kinda short. I was worried that the Tab will suffer the same fate .. or rather I will suffer the frustrating 'cut out of the world' situations if the Tab is to go low fast. It proves me wrong as the Tab has very good battery life performance. I went wireless with a prepaid sim card from XL (Indonesia) for 2.5 days and by the time I am back to Singapore, only about 80% are used up. I watched 2 movies in the nite, listened to about 30 minutes of songs, played about 45 mins of various games in the plane and did bunch of emails (with attachment, copy and paste from the SD cards).

Display; Is it better on Tab or iPad? I would say iPad looks much better to me in terms of color. The Tab has a much stronger color on its screen that makes everything looks nice on it but when transferred over to the computer, the color tends to be a bit more plain. Oh the Tab's screen reflects much more than the iPad, so when reading the screen you can easily see your face as compared to the iPad. So a screen protector may be necessary for those that irks that.

Weight; Tab is like half in size and when you place 2 tabs side by side, it almost equal to the iPad. The weight is naturally much lighter and I find it more suitable to use than the iPad, where to me the iPad is more comfortable to use when sitting on a chair or sofa. The iPad weighs you down after holding it for a while if you gonna stand for a while like when traveling in the train.

Accessories; I like my gadgets to be as naked as possible without any screen protector, casing or whatsoever but for those that wanna protects it, may wanna check around if the accessories are in Singapore. I may have missed it when I collected the Tab in the Samsung Store at VivoCity. If you can wait, I believe 3rd parties accessories should flood the market soon.

Apps; There are many pre-installed apps from Singtel which are quite a bunch of useless programs to me. I will remove them soon as it just take up space and I dont like to have ugly icons littering around doing nothing. Singtel should really put in some efforts to have better images. Marketplace is the gateway for you to download bunch of Android apps (freeware or paid) and it truly is a playground of geeks like me to try as many as I can before housekeeping or purchasing them.

Price; This one is expensive despite what some of the fellows try to justify it. Cos it is natural to be compared to the iPad and especially with the tonnes of other Android OS tablets flooding into the market now. Some are comparable to the Tab but may have lack a few features here and there and even if it is, it probably still cheaper and more justifiable if the manufacturers added those features in.

I believe it will sell better if the price is about 200 SGD lower (without telco's contract) from its retail price of 998 SGD.

Four motors – two each at the front and rear axles – drive the wheels, making the concept car a true quattro.

Producing 230 kW (313 hp) and 4,500 Nm (3,319.03 lb-ft) of torque, the two-seater accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 – 62.14 mph) in 4.8 seconds, and from 60 to 120 km/h (37.28 – 74.56 mph) in 4.1 seconds. What you are routinely been doing day in, day out like a robot, spiralling things down without realizing it.

That nite is probably a wake up call to find out why you are unhappy and at the same time set you to a path unknown but you know is a must to make yourself happy with life again. You started to move into this phase, to reinvent yourself.

My guess is everyone would probably have encountered what I just described above and take the same path. I myself is going thru that phase even though I never wake up in the midst of a sleep to have that experience but I cant fall asleep thinking about it until I am so mentally and physically tired that I just doze off. And feel all crappy all over again until something has to be done to get out.

I walked out of it years back and then continue to attempt to reinvent myself better, and I hope you can too. It's tough cos you seriously dont know what you are doing is right or wrong and if it leads to a worse situation. But one thing for sure, you start moving the situation gets better than to sit there and doing nothing.

Found an article that may just be fitting to some of us that have to go thru this path:

How to Reinvent yourself and change your identity

Read more: How to Reinvent yourself and change your identity | eHow.com

http://www.ehow.com/how_2072335_reinvent-yourself-change-identity.html#ixzz139lL0xjm
