So it's not often that you'll see me in bed, but I had a great discussion with my mum about how cool it was in the mornings to wake up as my brothers and myself. I think there's no better way, and I'm trying to figure out how to do it now being in my 20's. We'll see! I've got lots of great footage from my behind the scenes that only YOU will see on this site vs YouTube. The link will be private unless you get it here. Because of a small bump in life, I didn't get a chance to make my weekly video blog, but did make this review of the Glide Gear stabilizer which I'm very pleased with. It took no time at all to get here from the U.S., and the product works perfectly for the small price! Check out the video!

Caught writing ideas in the early A.m.

For those of you that come to this page, I intend it to be a much more in depth look at ideas and behind the scene info. Obviously putting names and faces within these pages would be a little intrusive for the daily people in my life, but I'll do my best! For some, it may be interesting. For others, not at all. For today? Big news. I made the most unreal contact last night with a complete stranger that will probably change my life, and the way I look at people. If I had the ability to integrate this person into my daily life, I'd probably have some very interesting stories come from it. We may have nothing in common and yet already I almost feel like I'm looking in a mirror. We've never even met in person, but no worries, I'm not going down a dark alleyway to say hello. ha ha.

Photoshop
So I hope the Photoshop tutorials take off, being of a rather original nature from what I've seen. I don't currently have big views on my most current videos which is working perfectly with my big plan for stardom. ;) haha. With this, people wishing to understand Photoshop and how to do very specific things within it is possible without just being entered into the wash of comments with big channel users. I'm going to create a Gmail addy for people to send me their OWN photos to have featured as the one on my channel being worked upon. I think this will be fun for both the viewer and myself. They can literally follow the video and re-create the work I've done in their own home.

Alysha looking at the surroundings for interesting ideas

For those that have asked who the "brunette" is, in my photographs, her name is Alysha Lewis. She's the one fire breathing and a few others in my photo streams. She herself is quite the photographer as well, which is rare to see someone to content on both sides of the camera. She has a great eye and ridiculous "solo" skills. By that I mean, her photograph "Bones" and many others on her account was taken by herself, alone. That's skill. I can't imagine framing up a photo that well by myself. She's well on her way to being recognized as a fantastic & creative photographer.

This has been a large topic on my mind lately. I need more space. I've made due with the amount I have for the time being, but I'm on the search for an affordable studio apartment. It's always been a dream. If you're from the area, by all means, fill me in. :P I've always been about high production value but it's usually done with less than minimal resource. No complaints mind you, I like to keep my feet planted on the ground, and be realistic about the needs vs. wants in life.

So I had a little fun making this tutorial to show some of the basics of how to use Photoshop. I briefly covered how to create, duplicate and mask layers. Using this wonderful photo of myself, I enhance the whites of my eyes so they are no longer red. I think my next tutorial I may do while completely drunk. It slows me down a little. Heh. 2012 is shaping up to be fantastic already. I'm too excited for exclamation marks even. Since you've taken the time to read this, I won't disappoint you today. This photo is how I'm capturing the vlogs you see on my YouTube channel "jubajer" which is more easily found by searching "Jerry Arbs". Using a Shure condenser mic, Canon EOS 550D, lots of lights and some small tricks in studio, I plan to further boost my quality in the next video posted this Thursday. I also plan on a short Photoshop tutorial video, introducing newer users to the basics of how to navigate through the application and also how to create and use layers, and masks within those layers for some awesome effects. I do have one other video to post, but I don't quite know if it's something for YouTube. I'd like my viewers to see consistency through my videos, and by that I mean good production quality, not handheld junk, but this seems worthy of a good listen. Anyhow, if you have questions, ask away. If you have snacks, come on by.

So I'm back at it, and glad to be. Being able to look out and know I'm speaking to anyone in the world who may be listening, is awesome. I recently saw that I had one individual view from Kazakhstan, which even just as ONE view, made my day. Now posting a vlog every thursday with a better set up, more crisp image and an all-round better clearer mind set is very exciting. I hope the viewers enjoy what is happening in 2012!

You wouldn't believe who I was talking to!

"Well, it's been a little crazy over the last few months to be honest. I moved into a new place in the middle of the city and designing the area I have here for studio space. I've taken on more responsibility at my full-time job, but have been creating videos including the video that will be posted this month of the Boss 302. I'm excited to see how the public takes to that video. I always encourage comments, and hope for plenty. I needed more time for the shoot, but made due with the limitations. I'm just about ready to start regular vlogging again as of tomorrow, and that's extremely exciting. A new look and a new series as well. I'm going for the best production quality possible with my new set up, and hope for some big smiles. My "test" vlogs went well and gained me some presence online, and I think the new ones will do even better. I hope people tune in. I plan a LOT for 2012."

So I started shooting my latest project this week. This is what I would consider the beginning of something extraordinary, being my first proper quality video yet. I've shot a lot of silly shorts, and piddly projects, but haven't had the equipment to do what I really wanted to get out there, and this is one of them. The shoot went well, even with the extreme time constrictions, and I had the help of my girlfriend (audio set up/recording) and a long time friend Alex (Camera man/Driver) and his girlfriend as well. (Grip/Cue Cards) A small number of people kept it very simple for moving around and organization. I also learned to make sure to storyboard for the next project more efficiently to have locations planned come shooting day. Now it's on to edit 30+ Gigs of footage, and to dub all audio.


Going through the details in the script, trying to remember lines. ;)

Well, it turns out the Gala was fantastic. I had my wonderful date Robyn to accompany me while we dazzled the older crowd with our dressed up classy attire. Met up with a co-worker and had the pleasure of meeting Mr.Christian Potenza as his film "Moon Point" was in the festival. A few drinks later we were gathered outside enjoying the cool breeze chatting about everything under the sun. For those of you wondering why this young man's face look familiar, he has indeed been all over the entrainment industry. From voice acting, to television commercials, and blockbuster movies like the Tuxedo standing nose to nose with my dream girl Jennifer Love Hewitt. I.. envy you Christian. He's the voice of the well known television cartoon character Jude from 6teen, the memorable face in the Listerine commercial (toothbrush) and is a great guy to meet in person to boot. The whole night at Cinefest turned out to be great from start to end, and can't wait for the next one!

Off to watch "Woman in the 5th" at the film festival last night. Had a fantastic time with my date, a great crowd and made a very unique friend in the business who I hope to keep in touch with. His whole production crew was very welcoming and I look forward to their next project. As for my understanding of the movie we viewed... ....after missing the first 10 minutes or so of this psychological mind game, we were both completely lost. Hahaha. Great time either way.

The behind the scene blog stuff starts here! This is what the cake from my Shick & West 49 "Break the cake" competition ACTUALLY looked like smothered on my face, unlike how it seemed in the video. ;) That red writing? Yeah, that could have been glue by the way it adhered to my face. haha That Light behind me on the chair, was actually DIRECTLY visible in the video shining right at the camera which most people haven't noticed yet. ;) My favorite part of filming? When we went to shoot the scene where I lifted the cake to my face, just as I was in upward swing the camera beeped and died before we got it. Then we were left with this mess on my face and no shot of the cake hitting me!! That's why we used the low table shot in the final video to hide the face imprint second time around. If you look closely at the first time you see the cake, you can actually see that it's a little messed up. ;) P.s. This is the video that won me my iPad!

So I've been stalking this girl for a while, and it turns out I'm busted. Not only busted, but exposed! Hahaha. I saw this and almost rolled off my chair in laughter while probably blushing! This is Cupcakeandtea on youtube. It turns out her and I are the only male and female YouTube vloggers in the city of Sudbury. Population? Almost 160,000. Video Bloggers? 2. JubaJer & CupcakeandTea. How's that for an army? Well she's got her own army as well. She's also got this interesting personality that's fit for a vocabulary contest and creative outfits like you'd never expect. I give props to her for every detail put into them. I think we'll be seeing more of each other in the future. :P

A brick in the head

Somehow I missed it. Somehow it evaded me for X number of years! I feel like Doc Brown hitting his head and inventing the Flux Capacitor. I realized something last night that spawned into energy, inspiration, creative ideas and excitement for the longevity of what I have in my mind being translated into creative works of expression. I know now, what I've been curious about for that "X" number of years. It was on the brim of my mind, but just out of reach. I don't mean it to sound so mysterious or as if I'm beating around the bush, but I'm not quite sure how to verbalise the thought quite yet. It's what every sucessful comedian or entertainer MUST have realized at one point that put them ahead of all the rest. The reason that good stand up comedians become amazing actors, but why some actors could never do stand up. We aren't even talking about laughs here. We're talking entertaining in general. I'm not self proclaiming myself a genious for thinking this, or even saying I can do these things, but I know something exciting and I'm ironing out the folds as we speak to better explain it. I'll keep the world posted!
