Is It Time to Kickstart the Featured Home Business Page? [poll]

Let’s take a little trip in the Way Back Machine to January 2007.

That’s when we started the Featured Home Business Page on WAHI. There were quite a few small business owners that took advantage of the (limited) exposure to their endeavours to highlight their business and let people know what they were all about.

That was a little over three years ago and although it never really ended, there has not been anyone else added since September 2008. I think it may be time to remedy that, but I’ll leave it up to you.

Having A Partner Is A Good Thing

As you know there are two of us who work together on Cataluña Designs. It has been that way since the beginning and I think that it works well. (At least with us it does)

Let me tell you why:

There are two of us to share in the workload

Twitter
Facebook
Editing product information
Participation is craft sites
Creating pieces
Selling
Advertising
Accounting
Billing
Pricing
Is that everything we do?

That part is great. We love to be able to split things up so we aren’t going too crazy. After all, we both have lives, and more importantly, families that we want to be with.

But that is not the best part. So what is?

Being able to work with someone, bounce ideas off them, push the business. We will be successful because we have each other.

Also , Angie and I have realized something. Whatever the one does not have, the other has. It could be tools, beads, displays etc. But it is also talent. Sure, either of us could figure out how to do the other one’s role – but who wants to? Who has the time? We try to pick up skills that the other has just in case – but the synergy is so good.

What do you feel is the best part of having a partner? Do you like it the way that we do? Why?

She also creates web sites, e-newsletters, blogs, e-commerce sites etc. as well as print collateral including logos.

Our Regular Routine Is Missing

Okay – you all know what’s up with me. Right?

As you know, things have been crazy. I have been trying to balance staying at home and working again. I have done this before and I am getting back into the swing of things. We have been really busy creating, getting our online store set up, setting up our blog, being a part of as many online communities that we can.

After getting really set up it was just a matter of having a routine. Blogging, adding a new product at least once a week, shipping, forums, Twittering, Facebooking etc .etc. etc. We were starting to get into that routine when…

BAM!!

I stopped into a cute boutique I know. We were talking about consignment when they told me about this kick off party they were having. At that point they told me that we should have a table there to sell our things! It is very last minute and everything was starting to get pushed aside just a bit. We were busy creating pieces and a display table when…

BAM!!

A little yoga studio asked us to consign at their shop! We met with her and that is going to start in a few weeks. AAAAHHHHHH! Now everything is getting pushed aside. The kick off party and the shop are our main priorities. There are no guarantees and we really want these to succeed. Oh, I forgot to tell you…

Oh…BAM!!

The dance studio my little girl attends wants us to set up a table at all of their recitals and open houses.

I must be Emeril tonight with all my BAM’s!!
