Really Fun 5 Days!

The last few weeks have been awful for my family.

It all started before Halloween when my daughter – the 4 year old – got a fever. She had that fever for 6 days!

6 days!

So she missed trick-or-treating and everything Halloween. During that she got a really bad cold that my husband was in the middle of dealing with.

Right after that my husband started getting fevers – but thankfully they were short lived and he was just left with the cold and cough.

Three days after Halloween I got sick. 2 days after I got it, my 6 year old son got it. We were in bed for 3-4 days with high fevers, colds and coughs. It was not fun at all. Things were getting just a TAD better when my husband left for vacation for 4 days.

Me – sick, a sick kid and one healthy kid…FUN!

I had friends and family take my now healthy daughter for a few days and my son and I just rested. We did not have fevers anymore but it did not take much to wear us out. We are inside, sleeping, watching tv, coloring, whatever and MN is having a GORGEOUS weekend! ARGH!

My daughter is gone
My husband is gone
I am sick
My son is sick
It’s beautiful outside
and I am really antsy to do stuff around the house – but I am too weak

Fun weekend or what?

My husband comes home from vacation hunting. He comes bearing gifts!

Flowers?
Candy?

Nope.

Pheasant.

The Dog Ate My Homework…

I was watching a commercial and it had a dog in it that was chewing on paper. It made me think of that old excuse: “The dog ate my homework.” So I decided to write an article about that.

When you are in school – things can be a little easier than they are in real life. You might fail, or get a bad grade. But that’s about it. (Yes – it may mean that you have to repeat the class – but just go with me here!) It does not mean your job is on the line.

When you get out of school you will find that there are 2 kinds of jobs. One – you work for someone else. Two – you work for yourself. The first one leaves stress on the table. You are not ultimately responsible – your boss is. When you work for yourself it is you on the line. Your job, your reputation.

You cannot lean on anyone else. You cannot blame anyone else.

You may work from home. You may have kids. You have to juggle a lot no matter what you do, who you are, where you work.

You cannot use that old excuse anymore.

Darn.
