I was inspired by Bon Jovi's "I'll Be There For You". I love Bon Jovi and as soon as I had to think of a love song it popped into my head. I think because that is what all love is about. Whether it be a husband and wife love, a parent to child love or a God to us love, it is always about being there. Here is the card I created with this song in mind . . .

I cut the hearts using Doodlecharms and they were actually "left over" from a different project that I will post later (next week). The hearts are scored in the middle and put on with pop dots just in their centers (that affect is hard to tell from a photo). The edges of the hearts are not inked, they are bleached. I loved how they looked so when I was done with them for my other project (I know you're intrigued) I saved them for this card. I printed the sentiment on my computer and just cut and rounded the edges. I added two bling hearts and there you go! Oh, I also used some white ink to just ink my black card stock a little so go along with the hearts.

CWC Weekly Challenge # 72-Grown-Up Valentines-Must use black and a brad!

Hello and welcome back for another CWC Weekly Challenge. This weeks theme is a grown-up Valentine and you must use the color black and a brad.

So I have to admin I forgot about the brad but found the perfect place for it at the end of making my card. I will giving this card to my hubby along with some cupcakes and beer (his favorite :)).

Here is my card:

The lighting is off for some reason but the paper is pink, dark/bright pink

I cut the black heart from Lyrical Letters, then I used some $1 stamps from AC Moore for the big white heart made of little hearts (I used a white ink pad and then sprinkled a little bit of embossing powder on it) and for the sentiments (did the same thing with them). They are hard to see in the picture but you can see them in person. I added a small piece of solid string to make a tiny little bow above the heart.

The cute cupcake bear is from Paper Crafting World and can be found for purchase here, I added the brad to the bow, I printed two prints and cut out the cherry, put some glossy accents on it then attached it with a pop dot, I also lightly added some purple stickles to the wrapper part of the cupcake and some pink stickles to the icing.

Teacher Appreciation Day!

Today is Teacher Appreciation Day at my boys school. I just wanted to do something simple and seen the idea of using Extra gum a while back (probably on Pinterest, LOL). I decided to make a little goodie bag with the gum in it and I wanted to make a cute apple topper.

Here is what I came up with:

I made the sentiment on my computer and printed it on white card stock and then used green card stock as a base for it. I then just stuck it right on the pack of Extra gum :) I welded two hearts from Doodlecharms (Cricut) in Cricut CraftRoom to make the bag toppers.

I used Pink By Design Our Teachers stamp set for the sentiment (it is we appreciate you teacher) and I altered it by not inking the teacher and then used the Principal from the You put the PAL in Principal from that set. I then used December stamp of the month set and die for the little tag and tag frame stamp. I added a heart to the principal one but was unsure if I liked it so I did not add it to the others.

I also used Doodlecharms to cut the leaf from that cartridge also. I hand cut the stem. I embossed them both using my Cuttlebug (for the first time), using dots for the leaf and wood grain for the stem.

I know it is just a pack of gum but I think it is the thought that counts (we also do a gift to each teacher from the entire class, so this is just a little "extra", HAHA). I did one for each of the 4 teachers my boys have and for the principal and school secretary.

CWC Weekly Challenge # 71-Kiddie Valentines-Must use pink, red and white

Hello and welcome to another weekly Cooking with Cricut challenge! This week we were challenged to make a kiddie valentine using the colors pink, red and white.

I am (still) having trouble deciding on what Valentine's to do for the classmates of each of my 3 kids that are in school so I thought I would make a sample of this one to see if I really really really wanted to do it. It was actually pretty easy.

Here it is:

First I had seen the idea of melting down crayons in a heart shaped silicone "pan" on several sites, including Pinterest my latest obsession, so I did that but I only used pink, red and white crayons :) Then I cut the card from Spring Holiday Cards (had to cut several sizes to see how the hearts would fit on there) and finally settled on 5 inches for the card and then I cut the base at 5 inches also. I inked the edges with some pink ink, attached the heart crayons with some pop-up/foam adhesive and it was done! Here is the card without the crayons so you can see how I matched up the heart crayons to the card:

CWC Weekly Challenge # 70-No Cards, Must have polka dots and use yellow!

Hello and welcome to another Weekly Challenge with Cooking with Cricut. This week we were challenged to make anything but a card and it has to have polka dots and the color yellow. I needed to make a thank you gift for a couple we are close friends with, I made the wife's thank you gift already (which I posted earlier this week here) and now I needed something manly, LOL. I usually buy the husband a small bottle of liquor each year for their holiday party, it started as a little joke but has carried on each year. So since I know he has already used that bottle I thought as the thank you I would buy him another one but this time I wanted to put it in something with a little note of thanks on it. I found this idea online at http://cabioscraftcorner.blogspot.com/2011/12/magnolia-edwin-label-tag-on-mini-bottle.html and it was perfect! (I always look online first because why recreate the wheel, right!). Here is her post with the details http://cabioscraftcorner.blogspot.com/2012/01/mini-bottle-holder-tutorial-using.html. The only difference I did was for my tag I used a 2 inch scalloped circle and a 1.5 inch circle. I put the large stickles bottle inside, you could easily adjust the size and score lines to make it a little smaller for a small bottle of stickles. I think next I will try and see if I can do like 4 or 6 and attach them to make a 4 or 6 pack.

I used my Cricut Art Philosophy to cut the 1.5 inch yellow circle and 2 inch scalloped circle but other wise it was just scoring and cutting in the right places. I used my Pink by Design Big Thoughts stamp set for the Thanks so much sentiment (which was perfect). Unfortunately, I do not have the bottle of liquor yet so I had to used a bottle of stickles as a stand in for the picture :) but you get the idea (you could also use it to give a bottle of stickles as a gift too because they fit perfect!). I think I may do something like this but in a Christmas theme next year for the holidays, what a cute little "grown-up" gift! Plus even if you do not drink (like me) those little mini bottles are so darn cute!

Cute Elephant Birthday Card

My girlfriend loves elephants so I wanted to make her a cute card for her birthday. Of course I had to use the elephant on Create a Critter because it is too cute! I also used Create a Critter for the balloons and party hat, then I added some twine for the balloon strings, some ribbon across the bottom, a cute Peachy Keen face stamp, a gem to the hat and that was it! I can't believe I actually got it in the mail on time, LOL.

Our Designers had to use something old from their craft stash, something new (a recent purchase or new technique), something borrowed (an element from a Cricut cut or from a PaperCraftingWorld.com cutting file or digi stamp) and of course, something blue.

Here is what I came up with . . .

I made these little favor bags for my former supervisors retirement party. Her assistant loved my Halloween goodies so he asked me to make something. For my old element I used my OLD Creative Memories Circle punch to punch out the circle sentiment after I printed them out on a sheet of paper on the computer. For something new I used my new scallop circle punch (I love this thing already), for something "borrowed" I used some baggies that were actually meant for jewlery, I was able to stuff some nuggets in there and for something blue I used blue paper as my scallop circle to put my punched out circles on. I used Cricut Art Philosophy for the bag toppers and I printed the labels for the nuggets right onto return address labels and put those on the nuggets! Everyone loved them, including my now former supervisor :)

School Birthday Goodie Bags

So 1 out of 2 is not bad right? I did stay up late making goodie bags. I really did not do much other than put the goodies Ally picked out into a bag and make some easy tags. Since it was late I did not want to use my Cricut because it can be loud, my house is small and my girls room is above my craft room. A few times I have used it late and one of my daughters will come down and ask me what I am doing so I know the sound carries up there, LOL.

Here is the tag:

I used my Creative Memories tag punch and circle punch and my Fiscars scalloped circle punch. For the sentiments I used My Creative Time's All Around Birthday set. Then (because I made girl and boy bags) I wrote each childs name on the tag and on the back I wrote From Ally. It worked perfectly and Ally was SO excited to take them to school today. I did not get to make any cupcakes or cake balls but we went to the store and bought some pink iced mini cupcakes which made her morning!

A Tangled Birthday

So my little girl (who the day she turned 4 asked me if she would be 4 forever and I begged her to stay that way...and then the very next night asked how long until she turns 5 and can wear eye make-up) turned 4 this past Saturday. As you may remember from the invitations I posted earlier she had a Tangled themed birthday. Unfortunately, the kids and I have been a little in and out of being under the weather so Mommy did not do much decorating for the party. I did two Rapunzel themed hair things...first I put some yellow yarn that looks like hair and wrapped it around our banister coming from upstairs to downstairs. Fairly simple. Then I took some more yellow yarn and braided it (boy that took more time than I expected) and put it on the front door. It turned out cute (I did not get a picture of the hair going up the stairs :(:

I also tried to quickly do my daughters hair and luckily she loved it although it could have been much nicer :)

Lastly, I made the tower cake idea I found on the same site I found the invitations and braid on the door idea (here):

My girls and I also made some cupcakes and I just used store bought chocolate icing and flowers to put on top but they turned out yummy and cute! They love helping me bake, for some reason they always want to taste the flour even though I tell them it is not sugar! LOL. Unfortunately, when I took pictures of them helping my flash did not work so the pictures are horrible but here is one anyway:

My younger son (8) was sick and quarantined the entire time but we did take him food and a cupcake...here he is enjoying it:

My oldest child (my 10 year old son) helped a lot with setting up and taking pictures for me so he is not in any but here is in from the morning birthday breakfast (donuts and mini pancakes). He is the tallest one :)

Well, although I did not make a banner or lanterns like I wanted everyone seemed to have a good time and Ally had a great time. She has a preschool celebration tomorrow (I am crossing my fingers she does not end up sick) so I am planning on making some goodie bags and make cake pops with a new cake pop maker my niece bought me for Christmas! We will see!

Bleach Pen Shirt

Hello everyone. Wow, I can honestly say I am GLAD the holidays are over! It is been so crazy for me and of course my daughters birthday is this weekend so it is still crazy but at least it is a milder crazy. My niece turned 3 last week and we bought her some coloring books and markers, crayons, etc but I also wanted to make her a shirt. She loves all things Disney, especially Mickey Mouse. I found the idea of bleach pen shirts on Pinterest (I am on there now and LOVE it) and am planning on doing something for my daughters for Valentine's but until then I thought I could experiment with a shirt for my niece.

Here it is:

I use Mickey Font for this cut, then I light taped it to the shirt and then traced around it with the bleach pen. Unfortunately I took the picture before I washed the shirt. It actually looks cuter and the edges, although not perfect, look better after being washed. they look more soft than messed up. I think it turned out cute and can't wait to see something with hearts for my girls for Valentine's Day.

Year in Review-Cooking with Cricut Weekly Challenge

Wow, I cannot believe the year is almost over! It has gone SO fast this year! One of the wonderful things I have enjoyed for this latter part of the year is being on the Cooking with Cricut Design Team! This weeks Wednesday challenge is a year in review to look at some of our favorite projects from 2011. Here are a few of mine :)

I think my most favorite project of the year are my daughters autograph books. Not so much because of the crafting side because they are pretty simple but really because they represent our trip to Disney World which was totally magical even though it was not our first time, LOL. I LOVE Disney World. Here is a picture and you can see the original post here:

Another one of my favorites was for St. Patrick's Day. Although we are not Irish I love doing stuff for the kids with the green theme! Here is one little pic of a craft from that day:

Another favorite of mine were the Mother's Day mini albums I made for my mom, mother in law and grandmothers. Here is a picture of the outside of those and the entire post can be found here.

One last favorite (there are more but I have to get to work, hehe) is my Halloween wreath. It was my first wreath ever and I just LOVED how it turned out. Here is a picture and here is where you can find the original post.

My older/little girls birthday invitations

Last week while frantically getting ready for Christmas I realized I needed to also make my daughters birthday invitations (her birthday is January 7 and since it actually falls on a weekend we could actually do her party on her birthday which means only one birthday celebration...when it does not fall on a weekend we usually do 2, a small one on their bday with just us and then a little party on the weekend). I had found the idea online (I think my friend Stephannie found it and sent it to me) at http://www.supermommoments.com/2011/01/tangled-birthday-party-invitation/ a while back and knew I had to make them and had even (luckily) picked up the yarn/string already.

Here it is (the flowers are not "really" on there, they are just blocking our personal information :):

I did the details in a Word document and had some purple paper on hand so I easily printed (did a test first and needed to change the margins some so I could get 4 on a page to save paper) the invitations and punched them with my Creative Memories fancy square and fancy edge punch. The hardest part was the brading of the string. I did long strands of 12 and then tied two purple ribbons in the middle and cut it so I could get two braids out of each one. It worked out great. Ally LOVED her invitations. I got them mailed before Christmas too...maybe that was my Christmas miracle, LOL. Now I have to get to work on the party decor. I know I will be doing a tower cake (found an EASY one online) and a banner and maybe some other small things...we will see what time allows. I will post those as they get done!

Day 25-MERRY CHRISTMAS! 25 Days of Christmas Crafting Fun!

I made some goodies for my SOR (School of Religion Students).

I used Art Philosophy to cut the green fancy square at 4 inches, then I cut the white (using center cut because I printed the sentiment out on my computer) at 3.75 inches. I added the red faux stitching, used some brads to keep them together and added the candy cane for the J! The kids loved them.

Easy Hot Cocoa Teacher Gifts

Hello all! I made these cute hot cocoa holders using the same theory as the gum advent calendars from Pink Cricut. This time I just sort of free handed it in terms of measurements.

Here they are:

I added two packs of hot cocoa, then I closed it, punched a hole and tied a ribbon through, I also added two small bags (I had the bags on hand) of marshmallows and put those through the ribbon and tied it closed. I then made a small tag and stamped it with my Pink by Design December Stamp of the Month set. Lastly, I cut out a gift card holder that I made using Cricut CraftRoom and Art Philosophy and put it on the back of the little hot cocoa book. Easy! The teachers loved these and I already received one thank you card for them! I have made 5 of these so far (my 3 year olds two teachers, my co-teacher for Sunday school and our two high school helpers). I plan to do at least 6 more once I get some more hot chocolate for the teachers at my sons school. I probably will not add gift cards to those because we do that as a class. Instead I think I may add two chocolate spoons. If I do I will add that in another post. Thanks for stopping by today!

Christmas M&M Sticks

Hello everyone! WOW, this month, this week, has been SO busy. I have had many late nights finishing up items for the kids and teachers. Today I wanted to share M&M sticks I made for my 3 year olds preschool classmates (and teachers, although I also made them something else I will post another day :)). I had ordered a bunch of different sized bags a couple of months ago when a friend of mine let me jump in on her order. These bags are long and narrow and are self adhesive! Very simply.

Here they are:

I used the holiday M&M's and alternated red and green into the bag. I then used Create a Critter for my Rudolph and gave him a cute blingy red note and some white gelly roll pen accents. I just used a Creative Memories punch for the tag, CM circle punch for the red and green circles and a scallopped circle punch (maybe Fiscars) for the scalloped circle. They were a big hit! I can't wait to try this for the end of the year with skittles and put a sun on the tag!

25 Days of Crafting Fun-Day 15 August Theme

Hello and welcome to day 15 of the 25 Days of Crafting fun at Cooking with Cricut. Today our theme is August, BBQ's, and Summer fun! I made another 6X6 calendar page using the free calendar prints from Cooking with Cricut.

Here it is:

I used some red (has some speckles which you can see) and white paper to weave my picnic basket, then I added the free digi print (I gave my bear a smile :)) and the calendar print and the month title! Just an FYI-I made my basket as a square, taped the back to make it "stay" and then I cut it to make it more of a basket shape. I used two white strips for the handles just by folding them, punching a hole and using a brad to attach them.

CWC Weekly Challenge and Day 14 of 25 Days of Christmas Crafting Fun

Hello and welcome to the Wednesday weekly challenge over at Cooking with Cricut. Today we are focusing on simple cards, tags and other holiday goodies. I hope you will join us in the challenge!

I had a Holiday party to go to last weekend and wanted to make a little hostess gift. I had about an hour. I decided to make a little gift bag with some tags and candy in it. The tags would be for her to use later on her own Christmas gifts :) Hopefully making things easier on her.

Here they are:

I made 10 tags by cutting the tags in red paper (I actually used some 6X6 scraps I had and used my Creative Memories tag cutter but could have just as easily used Tags, Bags, Boxes and More or even Jolly Holidays to cut the tags. I then cut 10 trees (also using scrap paper but green this time). I used a to and from stamp on one side of the tag, then added the tree on the other. I then added some stars I had from Micheals Recollections brand and some "lights" using my iRock gem setter and some gems, I, however, could have just as easily added some adhesive rhinestones. Lastly I used my snow writer marker to add some snow at the bottom (because I love that thing, LOL). I added ribbon to each one and I was all set! I tied them all together and then cut a bag from Art Philosophy using fit to page and the size of the bag was perfect. I threw some dark chocolate Hershey kisses in the bottom, threw in the tags and was all set with my cute but thoughtful hostess gift :)

2 Liter Bottle Baby Shower Gift :)

I made a 20oz bottle into a little gift card holder a couple of months ago and had been wanting to do a 2 liter bottle and finally got the chance for my Aunt's baby shower this past weekend. Unfortunately I have been SO busy that I really only had about 45 minutes to get this together so it is "plain" but it did turn out cute.

Here it is:

I used some pink and purple paper which I wrapped around it (I took the label off and cut a hole like I did with the 20oz and how it was explained in the message board where my girlfriend first found this idea). I then added some ribbon that says OH BABY and ITS A GIRL around the top and bottom (I hot glued the ribbon). I then added some stickers that I had on hand and I made a gift card holder (using Cricut CraftRoom and the Art Philosophy cartridge) which I stamped with the cutest sentiment from My Creative Time's Many Greetings set, then I put a Target gift card in and stuck on the side of the bottle as well :) I put some socks, wash clothes, and small baby toiletry in the bottle. I added a ribbon bow to the lid and a baby rattle that looks like a diamond ring. Too cute, right! That is my new baby girl go to gift, that rattle is just too cute (I also got a purse one but it did not fit so I just gave it to her, LOL. I cannot wait to make one of these when I more time to plan it out and cut out some cute decorations for the bottle, but I am glad I had those stickers on hard and it feels good to use "old" stuff just sitting in my stash! TFL.

Today I made a June 6X6 calendar page to go along with the other 6X6 pages made so far in the showcase. I used the free digi print, the free calendar prints and added some twine. It was as simple as that!

Ribbon Christmas Shirts for My Girls

After making those cute Turkey shirts for the girls for Thanksgiving I knew I wanted to do something for Christmas. I found a couple of cute ideas on Pinterest using ribbon to make a tree so I was right on it!

Here is what I came up with:

To make the trees I bought a few rolls of glittery ribbon (on sale of course) and some iRock clear gems. For the shirts I used red shirts the girls already had because I wanted a red shirt and had trouble finding plain shirts everywhere! I really enjoyed making these and think the girls will love them tomorrow. They will be wearing them to breakfast with Santa which they are both SO excited about. Hopefully I can get a cute picture of them with their brothers and Santa :) TFL.

Matchbox Advent Calendars for My Boys

Last year I made matchbox advent calendars for my boys and for one of my nieces. They can be seen here. While I loved that they were home made the "drawers" were very small and hard to put any treats in besides candy. I decided to pass those onto my girls (they are happy with a piece of candy or a sticker) and make my boys new ones with bigger "drawers". I could not find a good template online so I just played around with it and ended up making a box that is 2.5 inches wideX 3.5 inches long and 1.5 inches tall which is perfect. I can even fit a deck of cards in there! PERFECT! I had a lot of fun making these just because I love doing things like this for them.

Here they are:

I used Jolly Holidays for the tree on top (cut at 4inches) and then added some iRock gems and some snow writer marker snow (love that thing). I printed their names directly onto a patterned card stock I had then used a Creative Memories tag punch I had to make their names. Since I used patterned papers to make pretty boxes I did not want to decorate the outside of the Advent calendars. In all they are about 10 inches tall and 7 inches across. They loved them and get so excited to open a drawer each night :) (so far they have received candy, tic tacs, Christmas playing cards, a hex bug and some erasers :)

At least next year I will just have to fill them (and maybe make new/bigger ones for the girls :)

PS: All you really need is some paper and maybe a piece or two of cardboard for in between the layers. I used a a few sheets of paper from a stack of Recollections Christmas paper and just some plain red and green paper Recollections paper I bought at Michaels on sale :)
