Worksighted completes merger with IT for Doctors, strategic partnership with BetterEHR

Worksighted today announced it has completed its strategic merger with IT for Doctors, an information technology consulting firm specializing in IT solutions for medical practices and small hospitals.

Worksighted will operate IT for Doctors as a division specializing in IT solutions for the healthcare industry, while a new entity, �BetterEHR� has been formed by the former owner and president of IT for Doctors, Robert Tennant. Mat Nguyen, President and co-founder, of Worksighted, has been profiled in the current edition of Grand Rapids Magazine (November Issue) as one of 20 young leaders who is shaping the future of Grand Rapids and beyond.

Nguyen formed Worksighted in 2000 after graduating from Hope College. Now 29 years old, Nguyen continues to lead Worksighted while also serving on the board of directors for the Holland Young Professionals, Holland Area Arts Council and the Holland Chamber of Commerce. He also recently completed his MBA at Grand Valley State University.

Dell releases new PS5500E EqualLogic iSCSI Storage Array

The PS5500E builds upon Dell�s EqualLogic family with 24 or 48 terabytes (TB) of raw capacity in a 4U array � more than doubling the density and tripling the capacity of its predecessor model, the PS5000E, with equivalent hard disk drives. With the PS5500E, an EqualLogic SAN can scale up to 576 TB under a single management interface. This new array can be combined in the same SAN group with the existing EqualLogic systems. It provides an ideal solution for consolidating common tiered business data and applications such as file services, moderate I/O email, databases and virtual server environments. Mat Nguyen graduates Leadership Holland Program.

Worksighted is pleased to announce that Mat Nguyen, President, has completed Ladership Holland, a program of the Holland Area Chamber of Commerce.

Leadership Holland is an intense nine month program focused on many different aspects of Holland. The program began with a two-day retreat where the class learned about each other and began to formulate their personal mission statements.

One day of each month was devoted to different topics which included: Unique Community, Economic Development, Government, Justice, Education , Health and Human Services, and Arts and Culture.

The year concluded with Graduation Day, which consisted of canoeing down the Black River and learning about Windmill Island and the Watershed project, and then ended with a graduation ceremony.

HOLLAND -- Mike Harris and Mat Nguyen's computer networking firm Worksighted has grown dramatically in the eight years since they founded it.

Armed with degrees in computer science, business and math from Hope College, the pair started the firm in Nguyen's parents home after graduating.

The two had worked together on an intern project at Johnson Controls. The experience sparked the idea to start their own company.

"We opened with about $7,000 in cash and credit-card capital. But work started coming in right away and, within a year, we were renting a small office on Eighth Street in downtown Holland," Harris said.

Eight years later, the 29-year-old is Worksighted's vice president of information systems. And the firm has expanded its clientele to include firms across North America.

"We started as an (information technology) and Web development company doing network management for small and mid-size companies in West Michigan," said Worksighted President Mat Nguyen, 28.

With offices in the Lumir Building at 130 Central Ave., the company has 10 employees and a satellite office in Troy, runs a Web development subsidiary and provides networking expertise.

Harris said the firm expects to close 2007 with nearly $2 million in sales.

Last year, the partners spun off the Web development and e-commerce business into a subsidiary called Blue Sky Sessions Inc. That was done to better focus Worksighted's resources and attention on networking, Nguyen said.

Among its clients are the North American office of the new Hella Behr Plastic Omnium. The Lippstadt, Germany-based partnership HBPO GmbH manufactures components for the auto industry.

"We never thought we'd be setting up plants in Mexico for a German company," said Nguyen, noting the business link came from work done by its Troy office.
Worksighted is setting up computer infrastructure for the City Flats Hotel being built in downtown Holland by Charter House Holdings LLC., of Holland Township.

"I am a real fan of Worksighted," said Charter House Controller Bruce Weiderman, who has IT management responsibilities for the firm.

"Because this is a business hotel for business travelers, we wanted the best technology systems we could get and Worksighted-sourced things, like a voice-over Internet phone with touch-screen keypads that could be used for displaying advertising when the phone is not in use," he said.

Nguyen and Harris both attribute Worksighted's success to client service.

"Our corporate philosophy is to over-serve the customer and build long-lasting relationships based on trust," Harris said.

"Almost all of our work now comes from direct referrals from customers who have worked with us and like what we do."

Mat Nguyen has been named to the Business Journal's Top 40 Business Leaders Under 40 for the second time!

At the age of 21, Mat Nguyen met Mike Harris, and together they formed one of the region's fastest-growing information technology firms. Seven years ago, they opened Worksighted Inc. in downtown Holland with the goal of assisting small and medium-sized companies with their IT needs.

Today, the firm builds, maintains and supports networks for companies with 10 to 200 employees, has partnership with Microsoft, Dell, Symantec, Cisco Systems and others, and has satellite offices in Grand Rapids and the metro Detroit area.

Nguyen, who was born in Paris and resides in Holland, oversees the daily operations of Worksighted, which has a dozen employees. Those responsibilities range from client relations and community outreach to human resources and financial management.

Co-worker Barry Rice said, "Mat ensures that the company is financially sound and has the necessary resources to grow with its customers." But Nguyen isn't all business all the time. He serves on the board of directors for the Holland Area Chamber of Commerce, Holland Area Arts Council and Holland Young Professionals. The chamber recently selected him to join its Leadership Holland program.

Nguyen earned his undergraduate degree from Hope College and an MBA from Grand Valley State University.

He married Katharine Rent, general manager of the Park Theater in Holland, in October.

Microsoft unveils phone system for SMB Market

Response Point has been developed with the SMB market in mind offering an easy to use management interface and rapid deployment options.
